World's slowest bank branch in the existence of mankind. EVERY SINGLE TIME I come here for a very simple transaction it is a production. Also if you want to make a small deposit (yesterday I deposited $110) you have to show ID. Why?? I don't show ID at the ATM. Some of the people are nice here but I've also experienced the tellers dilly dallying while people are waiting. I stood waiting while one teller had a conversation with the security guard. I feel like some of them have a large chip on their shoulder and then act dysfunctionally towards bank clients. I don't get it. So many people have written bad reviews about this bank. Why have they not addressed it. I also agree that everyone seems to lose their marbles when they are behind the counter and forgets how to do a simple transaction. Even when the relationship bankers step up to help they don't seem to know how to do them. They have leisurely conversations with counter customers when numerous people are in line. ALSO EVEN THE ATM IS SLOW!!! What gives. I miss banking at Wells Fargo which I thought I'd never say! I got a survey today and took the time to fill it out to reiterate what I wrote here. Bank of the West was a great bank and I loved it because they were all about like climate change and environmentally friendly then BMO bought them. And NOW...they couldn't BMO horrible! And then to further things there is a woman named Cheryl Hayes that works there and I handed her two checks, and I asked her to take a look in my account and see if I ever put them in because they didn't have a checkmark usually when I mobile deposit, I put a check on the check like on the back of it and she said nope they haven't been put in so I put it in Well it came back. They charge me and they charge me fee and told me this never been put in. She's like oh well it was four years old. I'm like well you didn't tell me that you told me it was fine to put in... I mean that's a bit my bad too. But, she's the banker. I have a credit card with BMO. Well guess what the credit card and checking accounts don't talk to each other. They bounced my payment for insufficient funds because they wouldn't let me into my money and the money that was going automatically deposited into that account was getting sucked into the balance of negativity. My payment is on auto pay and after they bounced my payment they charge me a late fee but it's because you didn't let me have access to my money on the 11th that payment went through. We wouldn't be having this problem right now, but we're having this problem right now, you did not allow me access to my money. Yeah and Danny Hovhanessian is VILE. You know speaking to the SVP he was sympathetic and he understood and he let me vent. Danny was not used to a strong woman who has an opinion. He was very intimidated by me. When he should be saying, I'm sorry this is our fault and I understand your frustration. How can I help you make this better. Nope. he wanted me to be quiet to talk nice well guess what buddy if this happened to you would you not voice your opinion and want it to be heard. As if I did not have a right to. If you made it all the way to the end of this rant, I applaud you, but I also warn you do not put your money in BMO. Horrible, horrible banking. Stay FAR FAR FAR AWAY! I moved in 2018, so I did not receive the original lien release statement for my car. I started to contact BMO bank in November 2024. At first, it took them a month to change my address, then another month to send me a statement via email, which is not a lien release letter. It only states that I paid off the loan, but there is no VIN, car information, or signature. I can't use it to sell my car. How could it possibly be that the bank doesn't know how to write a lien release letter? I called multiple times again, and they said they sent out the lien release letter to me on February 17, 2024, and that it might take 40 days to arrive. I checked my mail every day, but I still did not receive it. Does a regular letter really take so much time? I called again on March 26, 2025, and they said they are only the customer service department and that they have to contact another department. They can only send the request. This is unacceptable. I cannot understand why it is so difficult to get the release letter from the bank when I have already paid the full loan. This is the worst bank I have ever dealt with. I will never use this bank again. Does anyone have any idea how I can obtain my loan release letter? read more

The women at this branch do all the work while the men are not trained (the male branch manager couldn't close my account, had to get help from a woman). They don't know American banking laws and I had a misunderstanding. What did they do? Went ballistic and closed my CD early and stole back my interest of $3,700. Apparently that's legal. Received a Non-BMO ATM fee of 3.00 for taking money out of my account in early March. I looked at my February statement and there was no mention of any additional fees or changing of fees. I then got my statement today, 3/19/2024 and there is a NEW fee of 3.00 for using a Non-BMO ATM that took effect on 3/1/2024. I think it is dishonest to not let your customers know of changes that cost the customer money after the fact! I will NEVER do business with BMO again despite all the recent TV ads about how great they are. I opened two 1-year CDs with them and it nearly took an Act of Congress to get my money after they matured. In fact, it took over 3 weeks and many phone calls and email messages to get a check from them after my second CD matured. Don't even try to get a home loan from this bank. After 19 weeks and additional requests for documents, and additional requests for documents, and repeated requests for the same documents, they still hadn't approved our loan in spite of this being a small refi to borrowers with high credit scores and tons of assets and income. After over a year of giving them the benefit of the doubt, since it's a fairly new branch, I finally withdrew all my money and closed the account. What a wast of time and hassle. I experienced many of the same negative issues others mentioned here. I always found the staff to be reasonably friendly but totally clueless and useless with anything beyond a simple transaction. DO NOT USE THE ATM AT THIS BANK!!!!!! I put my card into the machine, it went through the entire transaction then kept my card. I had to wait for the bank to open. Apparently this happens all the time because it is a foreign bank, and they don't take foreign cards. WHAT? Then she was slowed than traffic on the 405 at 5pm on Friday. You get it. What. The. ? There is a parking lot - huge bonus. Employees here are pretty helpful and as I've found at every Bank of the West branch so far, are actually quite friendly. Much easier to do your banking if you're in Culver City rather than deal with the mess of the Wilshire branch in West LA (no parking) or the Beverly Hills branch (almost impossible ATM parking). This is the worst bank ever I was transferring all my business account to BMO because it was closer for me to go there. I did them all online had no problem with putting money in the account I go to the branch and try to receive a new card for my business account. They to make it seem like I was doing fraud so the branch manager contact the fraud department and told them I was doing fraud. All my business are active and up to date on taxes. My account was frozen and didn't have access to my fund for three weeks, because of there investigation. BOW cashed a payroll check that was NINE AND ONE HALF YEARS OLD, for $558.90 ! The check was signed by an authorized signer, who was terminated in 2012. I am a 20 year business customer being ruined by covid. Instead of calling me first to confirm the criminal backstory on the employee, they cashed it. The manager Vanessa is a total snob and lied to me and my son about a few things. Plus no matter how many places I try to use my debit card with the correct pin number, it is NEVER accepted! AVOID THIS LOCATION LIKE THE PLAGUE. I've had better customer service at drive-through windows. I'm getting ready to travel overseas, so I go into this branch on a Tuesday morning requesting to make a cash withdrawal of several thousand in newer bills. The teller states they don't have enough cash on hand, which is annoying but totally understandable. They would order it for me and I could pick it up on Saturday morning, no sweat. I get a call Friday morning from an associate who tells me, "We can't give you the full amount, we can only give you $2,000. You can try another branch." When I ask if they can help me find another branch that would have the cash available and call me back, the response is: "I can't do that for you, it would take too much time for me to call every branch and then call you, you'd have to call them yourself anyway to request it. So the best thing is if you just call and request yourself. " Seriously. What kind of service is that?! Whatever, I let it go... Come Saturday morning when I go into the branch with my BF, the manager (who 'introduces' herself by saying "So you're the one trying to make a large withdrawal??") proceeds to lecture me saying they NEVER give out that much cash on a weekend and she doesn't know why they told me they could. "I can only give you $2,500, that's it." No apology, nothing. When my boyfriend asks why that teller guaranteed us there wouldn't be an issue if that policy exists, the manager gets in his face demanding to know if he's an authorized person on the account and not to speak unless he is. Seriously, chillax lady! I wasn't even giving anyone attitude, even when I'm annoyed about something I'm not ghetto enough to get drawn into asinine arguments with people in public. At this point, I can see that they're just making up some arbitrary BS because they're low on cash, and I don't see any point in arguing further so I tell them to give me whatever they can. The teller silently shoves the stack of cash at me through the window without a 'sorry for the inconvenience' or 'thanks for understanding' or 'have a nice day'. We even have to ask them for an envelope. So the moral of this story is: This bank will happily take all your hard-earned money, but don't expect to be able to get any of YOUR OWN MONEY back when you need it. read more

I've had employees of this branch give me explicit instructions on how to handle a situation within their system, and then tell me they can't help me when I follow those instructions. I should have read the recent postings here first, but today I found this relocated Culver City branch of Bank of the West (E of National and Robertson, so quite far East) and ... turned right around and left! First of all, it looks like a prison. Parking inside warns you to 'remember your space # to pay' - then around the corner IF you drive down a level, is the sign stating you Do get 90 minutes free parking. So I enter the branch and the only 2 people visible working are both behind thick glass. There is trash on the floor (granted, they cannot see from their safe location). I was interested in opening a CD account there, but when the gentleman finally came around from his glassed-in desk area, he informed me that they were having 'technical difficulties' and were currently unable to open new accounts. And this was Not the first time! "it happens from time to time"! He did offer to take my information and I could try again when their system was again working. Well, That was not reassuring - So I left. Did not seem worth the risk of putting my money there with them. Once they have it, Could you ever get your money out? When you needed or wanted it? Or would their 'system' likely again be 'unavailable'? At least he was honest. read more
