This place is awesome. My wife and I came out for a date night. Staff are fun, they make sure that you are comfortable and have a good time. My wife mentioned in passing that she wished she could have made a small change to her design, which the owner heard and personally made happen. Then **WE** spelled the change wrong...and they insisted on cutting out *another* replacement. Will be back.

I kept hearing about this place and so glad I finally went! Our class was easy to arrange and our instructors were really helpful. There are so many things to choose from, something for everyone! I highly recommend Board & Brush for an event, celebration, team building, etc.

Board and Brush takes social craft night and elevates it to a veritable art. Your end result will be completely Pinterest-worthy, and not in the "Pinstrosity" category. I visited recently with a group of friends for a girls' night. It's worth a side note at this point that guys were there as well, just not with our group. We had signed up online in advance, picked out our project, customized our sign (either with a saying or a name, etc), and waited eagerly for the night to come. Upon arriving we showed our ID, both to check us in and to ensure that we were over 21 (as this particular night was 21 and over due to a cash bar). Our projects were already set out on our table (seating 5-6), and we checked to make sure that it all looked correct. Drinks were available by the glass or bottle, and snacks (like pretzels) were able to be purchased. I had also brought some cupcakes, which I shared with my table. The whole vibe of the place was an industrial/farmhouse chic look, with examples of boards decorating the walls. Music from VEVO played overhead, with a TV in the corner showing the music videos for each song, which my friends and I found strangely mesmerizing throughout the evening. First we distressed the wood, then sanded, then stained, then assembled, then painted with stencils and -- voilà -- the masterpiece was born! The ladies who work there are so helpful and attentive. It's apparent that they are great at what they do, as they provided just enough assistance that you felt empowered, but never too much. It was absolutely magical to watch some bare boards take on the look of something weathered and personalized. The whole evening was a ton of fun, with my friends and I vowing that we will be back soon to make another project. For your next girls night, corporate retreat, bachelorette party, or get together, check out Board and Brush! Like me, you may just find a new favorite place!

This place is amazing! Went here for our Christmas in July work party & it did not disappoint! ALL the staff were so friendly and helpful. I will most certainly be back! I recommend everybody come here, it's worth it! Jennifer the new owner and her husband are fantastic this place is going to thrive with them!

This place is a gem! I've tried several of the businesses where you make your own craft. I've done all kinds of lessons including the paint and sip or paint your own canvas places that were all the rage a few years ago. Most of the time I ended up chucking my canvas because it looks pretty awful after i've had a glass of wine and am trying to paint at the same time. But I must say Board and Brush is 100 times better. I've been twice now. Once in the summer and once in December to do a holiday sign. Both times I have come away with a product that I'm not embarrassed to hang in my house! And the way the process is set up, it's almost impossible for you to mess up your sign in such a way that it can't be fixed. When you register for a class, you choose a sign to create from their online site. There are literally a hundred to choose from. When you come to the class, they will have everything set out for you that you will need. There are about 6 tables inside with tall stools. Each table fits about 6 people. Your table is assigned a helper who will be your go-to person for your paint, stains, and any problem you may have. The walk you through each step. And the added bonus is the little on-site bar where you can rack up a tab. They serve some mixed drinks, wine and beer. There are a few munchie bags of chips but nothing elaborate. After about 2 1/2 hours, you will walk away with a beautiful sign. This is a really fun activity to do for a girls night. Tip: if you want to grab a bite to eat after, Gander is right down the street in the same shopping center and has pretty decent food.

What a fun experience! Everything you need is provided and there is lots of help and guidance along the way. You start with your wood and precut stencil. Then you sand and distress. You get to choose your stain and paint colors. And at the end of it all you get to leave with your masterpiece! The ladies are so helpful and encouraging... no mater your level of experience your sign will look awesome because they know their stuff! This is an awesome place with an amazing staff!! If you're looking for something creative and different to do THIS IS IT! Birthdays, girls night, teachers gifts...I'm already planning my next visit!

This place was soooooo amazing a small bar a cute rustic sign that doesnt habe to be the same exact project for everyone and a great date night esp since the guys get to do some wood work. We had a blast and all the employees are soooo very helpful!!

I made some concrete coasters from scratch while I sipped an espresso martini. The service is prompt, and the specialists are also really kind and knowledgeable. The crafts range from simple to complex, and every craft is very independent! Avoid if you're not into loud noises as the work space is a little small and others and their crafts will be making lots of noise! (Especially the hammer for the leather works!) I've never had a drink here I didn't love, but the espresso martini especially is one of my favorites in the city. Really mellow flavor and very foamy. The Craftery is perfect for bachelorette parties, birthdays, and date nights. Next time skip the fancy dinner and make some concrete coasters instead! Then grab some takeout and enjoy your craft!

I believe these type of events are more about the experience. They can be fun for a group event with family, friends or co-workers. CONS: It is in the basement, so there are no windows (if that is something that bothers you). The instructor talked too much (personal, not conversational), and would disappear unexpectedly at different times. She only came around a couple of times to offer tips and assistance, and seemed a bit impatient. The setup was a bit awkward from some viewpoints, as there are pillars in the middle of the room. They have monitors to assist, but it can still be hard to see what they're doing, and the "color chart" was impossible to see for most of us. It felt like we spent a lot of time mixing colors, and then quickly dabbing the paint on canvas to catch up with the instructor. We felt rushed. I believe the sessions are supposed to be 2.5 to 3 hours, but we were there about 2 hours at most. PROS: It's in the heart of downtown Jeff, near great restaurants and the Big 4 walking bridge, all in walking distance. There is a lot of free parking nearby as well. There were bright paintings all down the hallways, and in the large basement studio, which cheered up the space. It was neat and clean, and everything was easily accessible. The instructor was friendly and joked around with us some. She put on a playlist of music, which was her own choice of hits but she offered to put on something we would like if we wanted. We had a good time joking off and on while we tried to follow along. We all ended up with different results, and had fun being together and laughing at our mistakes. Overall, we had fun, but because that is what we brought into it. A big part of these experiences does lie with the instructor (or host you could say) and their skill at hospitality as well as art. I admit I wouldn't return if I knew the same instructor or someone similar was leading it. (She mentioned several times that she was the owner's daughter.) Opinions and experiences are subjective, so you should check it out for yourself.

This is my first time doing a "sip and paint" and I really enjoyed it and would repeat in the future. They have discounted session prices on Tuesdays. The new location has only been open for a week and would be a great idea for the holidays as a place to gather for a fun time or also as a gift idea for even the non-artist in your life. Plenty of free public parking located across the street as well as behind the building. Enter through the glass doors and travel down the stairs to a welcoming art space in the basement. The instructor greeted us and directed us to pick out our paints, protective aprons, and brushes and we chose our easel stations. They also sell wine and beer and snacks and frequent take breaks as needed during the evening to accommodate refreshment and stretching your legs after sitting for an hour. I chose a $6 glass of Cabernet and the entire paint session is typically 2-1/2 to 3 hours long. I also purchased a really cute t-shirt for $15, which supposedly can be custom ordered in various colors, sizes, and multiple designs. An inspiration picture is displayed at the front of the classroom and the instructor provides step-by-step instructions to replicate the image. Our instructor was Moira for this particular project, and she was very helpful in providing individual assistance as needed or requested. Her expertise was very helpful! As you can see from my impressionistic version of the original piece, art is in the eye of the beholder! I had fun, which was my main objective here.

We always have gone with a private booked group and the past couple of times we were back in the smaller private room. This occasion we had about 26 ppl so we had booked the larger rooms. We arrived 20mins before our 6pm scheduled start only to find that they gad double booked for the evening. They wanted to put the 26 of us back in the smaller room when the other group of about 18 wasn't scheduled until 7ish. They obviously weren't expecting us and had to scramble to set up our colors ect. Our booking had been on the books and prepaid several months ahead. I will say that the 2 employees working did work to get us set up but this caused a delay in our start time...which comes in later. As we lined up for payment/drinks etc we were then informed that they no longer had wine. They had single bottle coolers and bud light. That was disappointing since when we'd been here in the past you could purchase by the glass or bottle and we usually by several bottles. As the 2nd group arrived the 2nd employee took them to the back leaving us with only our instructor, which meant any time someone needed a drink ahe had to go handle that which lead to several stops in the instructional process, which was already spotty in my opinion. I personally didn't feel the instructor we had was very personable. In the past we've enjoyed great interaction and encouragement. I could hardly hear anything she was saying (other paint and sips I've gone to wear a headset mic). The only time she seemed interested in having us hear her is when she was trying to sell us some pre-painted items in the shop. Most places will mention that items can ve bought but I really felt like it was being pushed hard as there was more than 1 time she brought something to the front of the room and discussed it's availability for purchase. As we wrapped up and as the 2nd group was finishing thier 1hr class, we were instructed to 'brushes down' so she could get our group photo. I felt like we were being pushed out the door. And while I get that they want to close and go home, it was thier error that delayed our start time by about half an hour. I am hoping that this experience isn't the norm for this location, the past 2 visits were very enjoyable. However if this place isn't going to be serving wine we certainly will be looking for a new location for our regular GNO.

We booked the Heavy Group Smackage for up to six people, which was supposed to include 50 glass breakables, 2 small electronics, and 2 large electronics. Which part of me didn't understand for the price that we paid, but I'm glad we were given that opportunity for reasons I will share below. When we got into the room, it was already cluttered with leftover debris from previous groups, which immediately made it feel unprepared and rushed. On top of that, the room wasn't set up with any of our items when we arrived (the employee was sitting in her car when we got there), so we lost a noticeable portion of our paid time waiting for things to be brought in--meaning we didn't actually get the full 50 minutes we paid for. The biggest letdown was the item selection: their idea of "two small electronics" was literally two computer mice, which feels misleading at best. The large items--a TV and a PC tower--were acceptable, but that was about it. We did get a selection of glass items in a tote, but they were all pretty small and we had to set them up ourselves. If we hadn't brought several of our own larger items, there's no way we would have had enough to entertain 6 people for the allotted time, let alone feel like we got our money's worth. There was also nothing useful to set items on--just an old tire--making the setup awkward and frustrating (other facilities have platforms of varying sizes). Overall, for $160, this felt like a very poor value and not at all what was advertised. A rage room should feel stocked, intentional, and stress-relieving--not like you're paying to finish off someone else's leftovers. I wouldn't book this package again unless they seriously improve the setup and item quality.
