The assortment is always interesting and well curated. The buyer for this store is a genius! The staff is always willing to help, and they have such patience. I found a beautiful Soruka leather wallet I plan to give as a gift. This is just one example of the truly different "finds" you'll stumble across at this iconic store. Last week I went in to buy some Easter candy for the kids' Easter baskets. They have an old fashioned candy counter. One of the gals assisted me with countless bags of old fashioned candies. She hand tied each one with ribbon, and was cheerful and upbeat. I wish I could remember her name so I could thank her. I also found bags of retro Easter grass--the shiny raffia kind reminiscent of the version for the 70's! They have toy department downstairs, and I'd recommend venturing into the basement just to experience it. If you have kids, this is a treasure trove of unique offerings. What really makes this store extraordinarily special? The staff.

Winkie's has saved me many times - especially last minute gifts and for unique items. The Wisconsin products are great when you're trying to figure out what local gift to bring when visiting out-of-town friends. (I'm not one to carry cheese on a plane!) Overall, I really love this store! I will definitely keep showing up as long as it's there!

Think more of the one of a kind finds instead of where to go for the coveted toy of the season. Prices are higher than the mass produced department stores, but you won't find most of these items elsewhere. Many handmade and customized accessories and clothes. Fun colors, designs and textures. It's small, cozy and welcoming. Friendly and helpful staff without being pushy. They have toys and clothes for all ages, both boys and girls. Due to the size of the store, they may not have the exact size of the item you like available but ask and they will try to get it for you. If you are looking for unique gifts for the little monsters in your life, this is your place!

This place came highly rated on yelp, so since I was in the area I decided to check it out. As a…read moretoy collector, a lover of the unique, an Uncle of 10 and a new proud parent, I thought this place would be right up my alley. Don't believe the hype folks. "Not your run of the mill kids stuff" Reality- It's true, it's damn true. They have toys in here that I didn't even know existed. It's stuff that you won't see on the shelves at your local big box or even regular toy stores. As far as gifting goes, if you buy something from here, you won't have to worry about someone else getting the same gift. These toys are pretty cool, and that's the problem- I think they're pretty cool. Will your kid think they're cool? Probably not. Take for example the line of Fischer Price "Retro" toys they carry. They caught my eye right away, they're the toys we used to play with, like the rotary telephone with the goofy eyes on it or the record player with the plastic records. It's a great gift to get the adults in the room talking, but lets be honest, what kid knows what a record player or rotary phone is? So why would they play with it? Most kids wake up in the morning, eat their Lucky Charms to get their Spongebob toy out of the box, put on their Spider-Man shoes and Batman shirt to go to Legoland for a McDonalds Happy Meal lunch featuring Hot Wheels toys. They have barely anything that has a license. Just some small Hello Kitty toys. Anything that's not on a Saturday morning cartoon could get you mean mugs from little ones. That's not saying they don't have anything the kiddies wouldn't like. They have two racks of small toys and accessories that are expensive, but are the perfect little gifts for party favor bags if you throw a kids party. I might stop back for a few of these around my little ones BDay. "Baby gear and furniture" Reality- Where is this stuff? This store is super small, and outside of a few racks of clothes, all I really see is toys. "Unique Gifts" Reality- I think "Unique" is a code word for "Expensive". I may live cheap, but I have absolutely no problems spending big money on cool stuff, as evidenced by the toys my daughter already owns. But the markup at this place is ridiculous. I saw the clothes, and knowing my daughter needed some onesies, I asked the lady if they had any. She showed me about 3 of them and they were pretty cool. Cool little drawings of animals on the front, 100% organic material, I was sold. I remember thinking that they were so cool, I'd pay $20 for one. I asked the lady how much for this one, she told me "37.50"! 37 bucks? My jaw dropped. Does she realize that a baby is just going to make a mess of this onesie for six months? Maybe if my wife and I were Kim and Kanye we could do this, but I have a hard time believing that in a blue collar city like this a store with so little to offer continues to exist. Bottom line- Good for rich Grandparents, Aunts or Uncles to get the kids in their lives some toys that are nice to look at but probably won't be played with, but bad for parents.

Also, the excel employee almost definitely is selling the information to scalpers. Fully convinced the staff do as they please. Candace or however you spell it from asset protection will talk just to make herself feel powerful and waste your time. Im 100% certain they are back dooring now... Monday was restock I visited everyday except Friday and 2 guys bought everything out... how nice of them!! Smh.

Buckle in y'all, this is my first review for 2025 and I'm coming in hot...this review was inspired…read moreby a morning visit on a recent Saturday morning. It was not unlike any other visits- meaning I arrived hoping for a relaxing day but left frustrated at well, everything. Let's start with the parking lot. Who decided that was a good idea? The parking spots are tiny- I mean tiiiny! One visit a poor girl came up to me in tears because she thought she had hit my car. Sure, they have the parking garage too but the entrance that's closest to the parking garage closes after a certain time. Moving on to the layout. The home and kids stuff is upstairs- why?!? I love the home section but I don't love it enough to go all the way upstairs. Also, have you ever shopped with kids? They see an escalator and all they want to do is go up and down it, which means I rarely get to go upstairs unless I'm by myself- and again even when I'm by myself, who really wants to go upstairs? The only good thing about the home section being upstairs is that after a holiday the clearance section is still full because guess what? No one else wants to go upstairs either. I guess you can call that a positive aspect of this review. Let's move on to inventory- is it just me or does it seem like the shelves are always empty? Sure, they always seem to be restocking but then why are the shelves always empty?? Also, when you try to do curbside, stuff is always unavailable...why?? Don't even get me started on Starbucks- if you like long lines THIS is the spot for you. Do yourself a favor and walk away, all the way to the Starbucks in Whitefish Bay and by the time you come back I bet you the line you were thinking about standing in will not have moved. I am not exaggerating. Now you're done shopping- you've tried to get what you need and have to pay for your things. They have 3 different places to check out- but guess what? Usually, only 1 checkout area is open,- it's at the main entrance, Fine, there might not be enough people to staff all the checkouts but I absolutely abhor the set up of the main checkout area. It looks like they have so many lanes BUT hardly any are actually open. There is also NO room for all of the people checking out. Did they forget that people will have carts and have to stand in line?? They tried to cram so much in the area that they forgot about the people that actually have to stand in line. In conclusion, if I have the time I would rather drive 15 minutes to a different Target. So why not give them 1 star- why in the world am I giving it 2 stars? Because I don't want them to close- I'd rather soldier through a visit than have to drive to a different Target because as terrible as this one is to go in to, I can still do curbside.
