My brother came to visit and needed a haircut. The front desk staff was friendly, complimentary refreshments were offered and the waiting room was comfortable. They were able to give him a same day appointment on a weekend. We don't remember the hair stylists name but she was a tall and tatted (if that helps narrow it down for an appointment with her). He highly recommends her. Great attention to detail at every step, always checked in, and she was thoughtful and thorough in her consultation. Very knowledgeable of hair and her craft. She was able to deliver the vision my brother described. His hair now wakes up almost styled to some extent because the cut shaped the flow of his hair so well. No pictures to protect his privacy but worth the price. read more

Consistently terrible. Tried multiple different stylists after my go-to person left. Beard line trim, and not a one of them could make the sides even. I've been very happy with Dapper Barber (Preston just below 121) but they were closed today due to the weather. Could only find an appointment at Boardroom, had to get it done for morning travel. I went out of my way to explain to both the receptionist then the stylist my prior experiences and need the beard sides even and keep the line two inches above the jawline. Well a good half inch got taken off after she couldn't get either side even and then just hacked a bunch off. I wouldn't take my dogs here for a trim. read more

I brought my son for a little gentleman cut and he left crying because Marcy was so rough with the comb and gave him a terrible haircut. The sinks are also not built for smaller necks and there is no cushioning so it hurts. He had the worst experience and I don't blame him. Marcy would not let me stay with him. She was supposed to just trim the back shorter and clean up the sides and the haircut looked nothing like the picture provided. He spent the summer growing it out and it's all gone. Now we have to pay another barbershop to try to fix it tomorrow before back to school Tuesday. The manager did call and apologize. read more

I've had quite a roster of K-stylists at the Boardroom Lakeside: Kara, Kelly, K.C., and my current go-to, Kaley. Caren (without a K) has developed a good culture, and though there's been a lot of recent stylist turnover, I trust that Caren hires and fires to preserve that culture. Kaley might be the unluckiest person alive, but she lucked out when it comes to people skills and scissor skills. Kudos! read more

This is a difficult review to write because for the most part we've had an excellent experience with the board room, especially for my husband. the issue is we have a 2 year old and it just was not a good experience. First off I'll start out by saying that the the first time we took him to get his hair cut there, it was fantastic. The manager of stylists was actually the one that cut his hair and she gave him a FLAWLESS fade. In fact, we had people asking us for weeks about how great it was. So when I called back to schedule another all over cut (its been a long time because of the quarantine and life), they were able to get us in right away. I was SUPER clear about how I had a 2 year old and they didn't seem to think anything of it so I was glad we could be seen so fast. This is where it started to go south, they put us with a stylist who had never cut someone so young. I know because she told me. It was starting to take a while (we hit the 20 minute mark and for anyone with kids knows this is where green turns to yellow and the red light isn't very far behind). I wanted to be proactive and paid ahead, leaving a $15 tip on a $38 cut because kids are hard and he was being difficult. After I got back from paying up....it was clear that the cut wasn't going well but what could I do? The stylist was just not moving fast enough and was doing extra detailing you just dont do on a 2 year old, like do a blunt shave on the side burns (he now has a rough patch growing in there), or do super intricate detailing around the neck (he freaked out w/ the shaver and she couldn't finish what she started). I also started the cut saying I wanted it short on top and by the time we were 30 mins in, she was still taking off super small amounts everything she'd go through so i had to just tell her to wrap up so we could leave. He was screaming at this point (again he's 2 and she was using a bare blade on the shaver to detail (who does that)) and I didn't want to disrupt anyone else. This was a day and night experience from our first cut and this all started w/ the receptionist. They should have been trained or directed by management/ owners to only put experienced stylists for children on these kinds of cuts. I would have waited for the right person and for $53 for a 2 year olds cut it damn well better be near perfect. If they dont have experienced stylists available, dont book these cuts. Its just that simple Well the OG stylist that gave us a bad ass cut answered when I called to explain what happened and she was kind enough to offer to fix it for free. She's amazing and we love her and I'm kicking myself for not going to her in the first place. But the issue is that the only time she could get us in was at 7:30 pm as the last cut of the night. Well its 6:30 right now, my kid is feral and I dont think he's going to last through this cut in one piece so I just called to ask to speak to her and the receptionist just seemed completely incapable of handling the conversation. She just kept repeating "do you want to reschedule" when I said, "no she's doing us a favor I need to speak with her or leave her a message". She just kept going "she's with a client so can I just reschedule you?" and then when I asked her to have the stylist call me back and offered to leave my number she got even more confused and then hung up. How hard is it to handle take a freaking message down w/ a customers number and say "okay let me have her call you back when she's done". Do I think we're special in any way? absolutely not. Is this a series of bad circumstances? Maybe. Did I just drop $53 on a hair cut for a child and expect exceptional service? 100%. YES. All I'm trying to say here is if you have children, little ones, don't come here. Its not worth the drama or the price tag. read more

Review is actually from mid-May experience. Previous experiences had been pretty good, but quality was falling off on my last few visits. I had scheduled an appointment online with a stylist I had not used before. Shortly before my scheduled time, I got a phone call stating that the stylist didn't show up for work, stating "I guess she didn't read the schedule." Then I was asked if I would like to reschedule. No offer of a work-in, comp, upgrade, and barely even an apology. From my home, this is the closest place to get a haircut. However, with the recent price increase, declining quality, and utter disregard for customer service this episode showed, I will happily travel a greater distance to get decent service read more

I have an Executive membership; however this is not the location I typically go to. Wanting a haircut for a NYE party, I decided to give this location a try. I went to Yelp and booked an appointment online with Laura after reading all of the great reviews. Upon arriving for my appointment, I was greeted by the front desk staff and waited. 15 minutes later one of the front desk staff came up to me and asked if I had a preference for my stylist. I was quite confused why they would ask that, and never being to this location before, I said no; however I have a commitment that I need to be at after my cut. Another 5 minutes passed and I went to the desk to find out what exactly is going on. The one staff member said "she will be with you shortly". At this point after 30 minutes of waiting, not knowing who is going to be the stylist, and honestly not knowing anything that was going on, I left as I would be late to where I needed to be next. Scheduled a beard trim - high expectations going in considering the offerings, ambiance, and pricing. From the start the "Barber" seemed to be in a rush, not sure what I was there for so had to say beard trim only. The "barber" seemed to be in a hurry but took time to tell me my haircut was wrong for the shape of my head, did I notice the previous customer? That haircut would work for me (wth?). One thing I am a stickler for is attention to detail (No straight razor for cheeks or neck line), and when suddenly the trim was over and I stood up: hair all over me, my face, neck, shirt. This "barber" tossed me a towel. I took a mental note and that's fine, won't be back! You can get better care and attention to detail from a Super Cuts and I'm not joking either. I have had an Executive membership for almost two years now. I started going to this location recently and it is probably the best location I've ever visited. The front desk staff is very friendly and they, as well as the store, exercise good COVID measures. The store is clean and fairly quiet. Of course, free beer never hurts. However, my favorite experience of this store is Donya. She is so friendly, has great attention to detail and - this is the best part - gives the best Benchmark treatment.
