We sailed on the St. Johns River and saw beautiful views of Ortega, downtown Jacksonville, and the surrounding areas. We brought coolers full of food and drinks and were able to set everything up in the kitchen out of the sun to graze on all morning. Even though it was very hot outside there were plenty of shady spots to relax and we had a light breeze to keep us cool. The staff at the marina are very friendly and helpful. We took the boat out for 4 hours, catching a total of 6 red drum my son caught the biggest of the day, a 30" plus red drum. If you want to fish and don't have a boat this place is great and you don't have to worry about loading and unloading a boat in and out of the water. All though I wish I had a boat. No maintenance or clean up This place takes care of it. They have several different boats to choose from all very nice. You do have to cover any gas you use and is kinda pricey. I guess either bc they are on the water or using ethonal free gas it was a little over 3$ a gallon to replace the gas we used. I will return to this place to rent again but prefer to eventually own my own boat in the next year to year and a half.

The sunrise tour was stunning -- truly the most beautiful time to be on the water as the birds and critters wake up. We're planning to book another tour to do the bioluminescence paddle at night as well. This sunrise tour is going on my list of best things to do in Jax -- it's truly NE FL at its best. Everything was super easy to book and Hayden had our gear ready and waiting to go, so we were able to get right on the water and see the full sunrise over the river.

When the date/time for my reservation arrived, the truck was tucked behind a gate that seemed industrial, not the commercial picture available through the app. I went through all the app details, taking pictures and feeling like a U-haul employee. Once I opened the dirty back of the box truck, it was empty. No utility dollies as reserved. I walked into Soloman's and an old man said "the guy who does that stuff isn't working today, call U-Haul". Called U-Haul to explain the situation and they directed me to another location on Mayport road a few miles away. As I couldn't fit 2 utility dollies in the vehicle I arrived in, I used the box truck I just rented to visit the next location. Upon arrival, the employees looked at me like I had a disease. No dollies were available at this location. Corporate must be dumb. They then directed me to another location on Atlantic Blvd. so again, now working for U-Haul I drive to the next destination at $1.19 per mile. The Atlantic Blvd location didn't have dollies either. Fortunately for me, another vehicle had just returned with a dolly inside. The only nice employee went to retrieve it, gave it to me and I went in to alter my "contract" to remove one dolly so I wasn't charged for 2. The customer service rep at the location had to do something "she wasn't supposed to" just to remove a charge I finally gave up on (removing the second dolly). Driving to 3 locations to fix something myself and ending up an unwilling employee of U-Haul finding a dolly, all the while getting charged $1.19 per mile and not 1 of the 3 having MOVING DOLLIES, and wasting 3 hours of my life made me realize U-Haul absolutely sucks. Do NOT recommend. I will never do business with these clowns ever again.

We fished with Captain Steve and Captain Brad this past Memorial Day holiday weekend. These guys…read moreare absolutely the real deal - in all the best ways. Great fishermen, great people. We were a family of 5 (mom/dad/2 brothers/me) who coordinated for a two-boat excursion (3 + Steve in Steve's boat and 2 + Brad in Brad's catamaran). This allowed for plenty of room to lounge-out while we cruised to the fishing spot (took about ~30-40 minutes) and while we shuffled around the boat reeling in various types of fish throughout the day. Their attention to detail was fantastic - both were super attentive, made us feel extremely comfortable and at ease the entire ride. We caught LOTS of fish and even one of the biggest of the season so far - a ~40 pounder King Mackerel. Each person on our trip got to reel in at least 2, some 3-4 fish per person. Every time we had a "FISH ON!", Steve taught us how to grab the rod, effective reeling technique, how to steer the boat managing other fishing lines that were still dragging in the water, hook the fish, and all while he ensured fun tunes were jamming and someone had plenty of space to take a video/pics - the entire "process" for each fish was seamless, exciting, completely non-stressful and a BLAST. Honestly, even if we wouldn't have caught a single fish, this trip would still have been FANTASTIC. It was a beautiful day, no one needed Dramamine at all (few of us were a little nervous about that at first), the music was fun (and can pick whatever you want via Bluetooth!), the captains taught us a little about the wildlife/shoreline in the area, and in general their company was just lovely. It felt like we were all hanging out as pals. Also - they even filleted/cleaned the fish we could keep for us at the dock and recommended a local spot nearby that cooked it up for us for lunch (a few pieces we had fried, a few blackened, and a few grilled). Yummy ending to a perfect day. We will undoubtedly recommend these gents for any friends/family looking to fish in the Jacksonville, Ponte Vedra, St. Augustine areas, and we will definitely be back fishing with them again soon.
