It was a busy sunny, Monday afternoon. We found out they offer a great $5 Martini Monday deal. We ordered and I expected a harsh, cheap tasting cocktail that would instantly give me a headache. I was wrong! Heather the bartender was fantastic! She was so sweet and funny. There were 3 of us and she saw we were looking at 2 Kenosha magazines so she brought another so we could all have one. large group of family went to a late lunch to celebrate a special occasion. I decided to splurge and ordered the Commodore special because I love white fish. The white fish was so overcooked that it was like eating a soft stew. The broccoli was practically rare. I was unable to cut it, except to get a few leaves off the top of the stalk.. The baked potato was OK and I had to ask for sour cream. The only bright spot was the bread pudding dessert. I will not be taking family members there again. I'm from out of town and this restaurant was highly recommended. We tried the wonton mozzarella sticks, coconut shrimp, and spicy chicken sandwich. Everything was tasty. The mozzarella sticks came out hot, but needed some seasoning. It was good, but a little bland. The coconut shrimp stole the show for me. It was very flavorful, crispy, and not greasy at all. It was paired with a root beer sauce, which sounds weird, but hit just right. This is some of the BEST coconut shrimp I've had. No fair! Wish this was closer to my home. :) The chicken sandwich was good and actually had heat to it. The fries were two thumbs down for me. Not hot or flavorful and not cooked long enough to hold their shape. We had so much food where we really didn't need them, but after one left them alone. This restaurant offers a cool patio view, but if you're sitting inside had a great bar area. There's a few casino games inside and a pull tab machine if you're into that. Ugh, where do I begin? One lovely Sunday, my wife and I decided to go for a drive. We once were driving though Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, and found an area of homes along the lake and wanted to go see them again. So we found ourselves going to Kenosha and then we would make our way down. My wife suggested going to Anna's on the Lake, but they were closing at 2pm. Seeing as we wouldn't get there until about 1:45pm, we skipped it and began to figure out, again, where we might partake in a late lunch. She said that a bunch of people had recommended Boat House on Facebook and so we, too, decided to try them out. We arrived and they had a parking lot behind them between the restaurant and the lock feeding into the river. The outdoor deck looked like a great place to go when it was warmer outside, but that day wasn't warm enough for outdoor seating. So we ventured inside. The hostess asked about table selections and we wanted a standard table, not a counter height table, so she brought us into the main dining area and sat us in a booth. There was an open booth that looked at the water but we were told that no one sits there. Weird, but okay. The booth we were in was fine, except the people behind us were loud and obnoxious, constantly bumping the seat which made it feel like I was on a roller coaster, so we asked to move to a different table and they moved us one booth back. Thus the waiting game for a a server started all over again. While we waited, another couple was seated in our old booth and were immediately attended to. We flagged down a busser and asked to see a server as we had now been collectively waiting for nearly 20 minutes. I guess this red flag told us to vacate, but we were morons and stayed anyway. Our server arrived and apologized as she wasn't told that she had the new table. The hostess moved us, but then didn't say anything? What the heck?! We give her our drink orders and are about to give her our food order and she disappears to grab the drinks. Um, we've been waiting for 35 minutes at this point, I think we know what we're going to order. She returns 10 minutes later with our drinks (me a soda and her a water with lemon). I ask which food order is better: the chicken bacon ranch wrap or the Ranger burger. She says the burger. Okay. I order the burger and she asks if I want it pink or not pink. What? I order it pink. It's an 8oz steakburger with bacon, bbq sauce, fried onion straws, and cheddar cheese. Red flag number two: if someone asks if you want your meat pink or not, that means it's a frozen patty and the cook knows to cook it for x amount of minutes to get it pink inside versus well done. My wife ordered the nachos with chicken tinga and asked if the chicken was shredded, which she said it was. It. was. not. It was chunks of chicken. This is a big deal to my wife as she finds thicker pieces of chicken to be "too chickeny" and then she doesn't eat it. And this was the case here. My burger had so much going on that you couldn't really taste the burger. The bacon was cooked, but not to a crisp, they were limp bacon and somehow with not much flavor. The bbq sauce overwhelmed everything. That means the cheese, too, and that is often hard to do with cheddar. Meanwhile, across the table, I got to watch my wife grimace (yep, grimace) while she ate the nachos. They were very wet and the nachos a bit soggy - not how one wants their nachos. I think the worst part of it all is that there is an entryway to the restaurant mere steps from our booth. And everyone who entered took their sweet time walking through (and closing) the doors, so we got a cold breeze blown on us every time someone walked in or out this way. HOWEVER...they had to walk to the hostess stand in the back. Which begs the question, why was this entryway open and not have a sign stating that the bar entrance is open and to walk to that entryway instead? Our server finally made an appearance as we were finishing out meals and I asked for the check and immediately gave her my credit card as I was never going to see here again (or at least for a while). The bathrooms are next to the merch store (not sure I understand the need for a merch store, but there you have it. I will say this, if you are on Facebook, and are talking up this place, you need to stop. This was not good. From the beginning when the hostess forgot to mention to the server that she had another booth, to the poor recommendation for the burger being "good", to the soggy nachos, to the entryway without a hostess; everything was not good. I don't recommend this place to anyone. There are so many other good places in Kenosha that this place is worth skipping. read more

Updated menu since last I'd been - which had been awhile obviously. Great place to come when in town for a visit with family. The open bar area in the back is outstanding. Such a nice decor to sit "outside" to eat or just have drinks on a lovely Wisconsin summer day. Food was delicious- everyone loved their choices. Burgers were top rated. Cooked (with actually a little pink in them!) (hate when they ask "pink or no pink" and you get grey) Chicken wraps were nicely built, full of great veggies and chicken was tasty. Very much liking the renovations and new vibe of the Boat House. Stopped in for lunch and sat on the harbor side bar area for some beautiful scenery. Stopped in on the 4th of July just after noon with a group looking to cool down after a walk by the lake. We grabbed a table near the bar and slot machines. It seemed like they might have been short-staffed for the holiday, as our server took a while to check in with us, but when she did, she was friendly. Most of the group went with adult beverages, but I tried the wonton mozzarella sticks--crispy, not greasy, and really tasty. I also had a pineapple mocktail that was super refreshing. We used to love coming here when Jack first revamped the place. Damon is our FAVORITE waiter, and regardless of the food quality. Now, as of within the past year, Jack has cut corners significantly with the food quality. What used to be a LOVELY hand patted burger, is now a pre portioned, dry, flavorless burger. The food is absolutely trash. The thickest, fastest, most disgusting Ruben I have ever seen. The corned beef should be lean and thin, not the slabs of fat they serve! Then there is the atmosphere. It's nice to have a patron jukebox like touch tunes or ami however, you should not turn it off in favor of the staffs previously chosen play from other sources. At the start of the 2nd song I played, it was shut down in favor of the house play list from another source! The patrons should always come first over the staff in this situation. We were visiting family and were brought here. Being from Florida we love places like this. The food was delicious and there was a wide variety of dishes. I got the Baja steak bowl. It had so many flavors. The 32 ounce Long Island Iced Tea was not strong at all. It tasted more like soda than liquor. I didn't feel the effects of it at all and I usually only have 1 drink because of what it does to me. I don't drive after 1 drink. Our server was funny and very friendly, but needed help. He had at least three tables with more than 6 people and had difficulty juggling them. We went when it was a bit colder out, but would love to revisit it when it's warmer. read more

This review is for the Mother's Day brunch. It started without water being brought to the table, but still the service was good. Accessing the food was a jumbled mess. No proper flow. It did not help that the staff was constantly cutting through the lines. The food ranged from disappointing to ok. The entire 2 hours we were there many of the serving trays were not changed or filled. Nothing stood out as exceptional or even good. The soup did not have bowls available during our visit so we were unable to have any. The dessert table was pathetic. Kringle, unappealing pie, cupcakes and very burnt chocolate cookies. Who serves burnt chocolate chip cookies?. For the $50 per person we left hungry and dissatisfied. We will try somewhere else next year. read more

I would love this restaurant if the service was better. The last 2 times we have been there, we have gotten Emma w. As our waitress. We sat for over 5 minutes and watched her clean a table and sweep before she even acknowledged us. She never came back once to check on us but stayed around for our credit card when the time came to pay. She could not answer our questions and it seemed like we were being an inconvenience to her. I tried to order a martini from her 3 times and she kept just walking away. Maybe sit at the bar if you want better service. I know if we come back we will be only sitting at the bar. read more

They can work anywhere, but this is the place. Robin my server is as pleasant a convo you can have. She is attentive, informative, and yet busy enough she won't intrude on your meal. Price is on point. Portions are well sized. And they bring you a paper receipt. One price cash. One price credit. And no narcissistic "20% or 50% or 800%" or "other" ipads. That trend MUST die. So i tipped 40% for making my day with great service, great food, pleasant ambiance, and no guilt-tip entitled ipad Folks. This place is a gem. The food is better than Chicago and Milwaukee combined and you won't be panhandled or robbed. Parking is FREE. My highest recommendation. I personally think the locals give it one star so no one comes here I will be back. High five. read more

Had a great lazy Saturday morning at the new breakfast buffet! We got there around 9 o'clock and the service was great with plenty of room. The food was hot and delicious and we filled up too quickly. It's close enough to Lake Michigan so we were able to go for a walk afterward and enjoy the fall day. I've always been here for dinner and the brunch was a nice change and we would like to try and come back. I think had we made a custom omelet or Eggs Benedict we could have seen a better idea of the kitchen, but the buffet was great for us! read more

Went out for Valentine's Day - completely expected crowds, higher weight times, etc. and let's face it's a busy day. We had a reservation still had to wait at 15 minutes after sour time. When we finally got seated, we were told it was a 2 HOUR wait for food on the special menu and an 1 HOUR wait on the smaller regularly menu. Really an hour wait for a burger?!?!? Server disappeared for 15 minutes after telling us the wonderful wait for food. So 30 minutes total just to get a beer... You can tell you one thing being prepared was not on the menu. read more

The views from the outdoor seating are wonderful, the service is stellar, the happy hour deal is great, and the food was very good! Came here with a large party for a late lunch/early dinner. The oysters pictured were all so big and juicy, and almost 0 grit in them. The cocktail sauce with the appetizer was so delicious and spicy. Definitely didn't taste like a jarred cocktail sauce and I really liked the choose your own adventure with all of the different ways to dress the oysters. The Asian seared yellowfin tuna salad was very good. The tuna was seared perfectly and was the correct amount of pink. I liked the blend of lettuces plus a lot of other fresh and crunchy textured items. The sesame dressing was a great compliment to all of the other flavors and textures. My first trip to Kenosha, WI. Were trying to find a place near Lake Michigan for dinner and found the Boat House Pub & Eatery. It looked pretty popular and when we arrived, the parking lot was packed. We parked a couple of blocks away and hoped for less than an hour wait. we walked in and got seated immediately! The restaurant sits right on the harbor and you have a nice view of the boats from the outdoor deck, We sat inside which was fine because it was quite warm. Our server was very nice and knowledgeable of the menu. Our server gave us water in collectible plastic cups that change color with the temp of the liquid and I ordered an iced tea. We picked the crab cake bites as an appetizer. The interior of the restaurant is nice and is great for a casual night or for an event dinner like a birthday or anniversary. My wife ordered the Yacht Club, which is a turkey club sandwich with waffle fries. My daughter ordered the Captain's Crispy Fish, a hoagie roll with battered and fried cod and it came with waffle fries. I opted for "Kenosha's Favorite Fish Fry", the Beer Battered Cod. Three large pieces of beer battered cod, waffle fries and cole slaw. The crab cake bites and my iced tea came out. The crab cakes bites were hot and had good taste and came with a Chipotle dipping sauce. my iced tea had an odd taste. after my daughter tried my tea, we agreed it tasted like a cleaner of some kind. Our entrees arrived and looked great! the turkey club sandwich was packed with turkey and the waffle fries were hot and fresh. The cod sandwich was large and looked great. The fish fry platter was a lot of food. Three very large portions of beer battered cod were hot and fresh and had great fish flavor. The cole slaw had a heavy vinegar flavor. Overall the meal was not bad, but the tea was not right and the cole slaw had too much vinegar. The portions were very large and the atmosphere was quite nice.
