This was my first time at Church and Market. My wife and daughter had been here before. It was a very nice Friday evening and the restaurant was very busy. This is in the downtown area of Kenosha, within walking distance to Lake Michigan. The restaurant is in an old building and is decorated in a very neat style with really cool overhead lights and the back bar is very cool. We got a table quickly and I noticed they had a private event they were hosting. Our server greeted us and took our drink order. We ordered Crab cake sliders as an appetizer. My wife ordered the Cajun Pasta with Shrimp and I ordered the Pork Belly Bahn Mi with fries. our appetizer came out quickly. This was three sliders served on Hawaiian rolls. the crab cakes had good flavor. I liked the chipotle aioli was very good and paired well with the crab cake, house made pickles and pickled red onion. It took quite a while before our entrees arrived. I know it was Friday evening and they were packed, plus they were dealing with a large party, but I think the only reason we got our food when we did was because our server, who was also a bartender, noticed we hadn't gotten our food. He brought our entrees out and they looked good. I immediately noticed my food was cold and had been sitting for a while. My wife commented her pasta was cold as well. The fries were house made, but cold and the Pork Belly Bahn Mi sandwich was cold and the roll was getting hard, like it had been toasted and sat for a while. I'm guessing our order got made then over looked by the food runner. Regardless, the sandwich was good. The pork belly was tender and the vegetables were fresh. I wish the Jalapenos had been more pronounced, and I wish the roll wasn't so hard, but still not bad. The fries would have been awesome if they were hot. I would like to give them another try when we return to Wisconsin. read more

I went here on the spur of the moment while driving by, because I noticed that it had a rooftop bar. It was a beautiful warm day for October and it looked like just the spot to grab a cocktail. Walking up to the rooftop bar, each level had comfy cocktail sitting areas. The top level had a guitar soloist singing. The rooftop area is a nice size with outdoor sitting areas as well as bar tables and stools. They have a nice seasonal cocktail menu along with your staple of beers, wines, and cocktails menu. I didn't order food, but all of the dishes going by looked delicious! There was only one waitress, helping the entire outdoor section of the rooftop bar, which was fairly busy since it was such a nice day, so there was a little bit of a wait, but she kept calm and composed and was doing her best. I was impressed with the atmosphere and can see why every level of the entire bar was busy. read more

This place DOES NOT care about their customers. My husband and I stopped in today on our way through Wisconsin. There was a classic car show in town and they seemed to be offering a special/abridged brunch menu for the day. Initially service was pleasant and prompt and we ordered drinks and food. I ordered a cocktail called something like "Black Betty Old Fashioned " or something. My husband ordered a draft beer. We got our drinks in a reasonable timeframe. My cocktail sucked. Whoever made it dumped way too much simple syrup in it and it was like sugar water. My husband joked we could hold it out the open window to attract hummingbirds. We didn't see our server again for more than 40 minutes. Finally my husband got up to find her and ask about our food and when he said we'd been waiting for 45 minutes she snapped "I KNOW! The kitchen's backed up because of the car show." Five minutes later she brought our food WITH ATTITUDE and huffed away from our table after dropping it off. We asked someone else for our check. No one asked why my drink was still full an hour after I received it. I could tell something was off with the chorizo I had added to my breakfast plate but I was starving so I ate most of it anyway. I was also given a big, dry piece of Texas toast but no butter, jelly, etc. It's not like my meal had sauce of any kind, so the dry toast made no sense at all. Three hours later I had severe stomach trouble. My husband's biscuits and gravy were OK. Not great by any means, but at least he doesn't have food poisoning. I understand being busy but not checking in with your tables, reassuring your customers that their order is coming and apologizing for long wait times is not OK. This place is really cute but their operations need major improvement. read more

Came here for brunch while on a bachelorette trip. Even though I couldn't have a drink I had a great time, the ambiance was super cute and boho like! I had breakfast tacos and they were HUGE and delicious, I couldn't even finish all 3! My girlfriends all got mimosas and were served with bottles and juice on side to make it as sweet as they wanted. I am a floral designer out of Chicago and have worked with many vendors and staff. Hands down the Church and Market staff is one of the best! They were Incredibly helpful, professional, hard working, paid attention to details and were extremely friendly and kind. The food was fantastic! The venue is absolutely beautiful and clean! Place is beautiful! Charming , could use a few more low top seating, menu selections plenty! I had chicken & rice soup, it was amazing! Had Salmon for my entree , it presented great, but was cold not really warm and it was rather dry, but im sure if it came out warm the dish would of been fabulous! We waited a hour and fifteen minutes for our Breakfast, was there recently and did not have to wait that long. I realize it's mom's day, but wow.. We never saw our food we left! The food was good, but I don't think I would ever go on another weekend day. read more

So I was on my way home from Frank's Diner and noticed people inside. I had to u-turn and come back to get a look see. I didn't know this place was even open for the last 3 months. This was once I came inside and began conversing with the bartender. Once inside, you'll notice the bar on the right and a lounge seating area in the left. Bar looks great and appears to be well stocked. Bartenders were very nice and immediately asked if I wanted something to drink and eat. What surprised me was the menu, one page, and not that many items. They all read good, though. Don't fret just yet because the menu is changing within the month, as I was told by the bartender. So stay tuned. Let's talk about why I'm leaving a review. This place would be great pkace to hold a special event. I really liked the atmosphere. There's two locations for booking parties, in the dining area downstairs and then the upstairs. I did find out that they've had many special event parties such as company parties, engagement, and bridal parties. You can bring your own food or have them cater your event. The upstairs has been renovated. The counter height bar is gone, but there are tables against the wall with stools and the bar remains. The outdoor roof patio will be available in Spring and Summer. Overall, the ambiance was very welcoming. I expect this will be a great nightlife spot eventually. It's definitely more of a mid to upscale. I was told they have had entertainment there a few times and they post on their FB page. If you're a jazz or blues musician, I recommend you call and speak to Adam to see about possibly playing there. I'm hoping all the best for this new establishment as it has potential for success. read more

We were here for a private event so I can't speak to the bar and food in general, just to our experience. We had a designated server and he was awesome. He always seemed to know just when to pop up. If you couldn't find him, you could go to the bar and order. We were given wristbands so they knew which tab to put the drinks on. There was a birthday specific cocktail, a couple of wines (pinot noir and pinot grigio), and all the drafts and bottled beer was included. The food provided was okay. There was a bland pasta salad, some pretzels with a cheese dipper, a spinach dip, chicken wings, and something else that I don't remember. While it wasn't bad food, it was very standard reception at a conference food, if that makes sense. read more

The vibe on the roof top is good and fun. Lots of people laughing, talking and sipping drinks. The crowd consisted of both younger and mature people. Good decorations with lots of green--some real, some fake. There is individual bar chair seating and couches for larger groups. Not seating area all are have sun umbrellas so make sure you pick your seat according to your sun tolerance. Large selection of mixed drinks with interesting names but the ones I tried did not create a WOW factor. One personal bias I have is drinks being served in plastic cups. Some drinks came in plastic others in glass. The plastic cups were a downer. I ordered the blacken fish taco and it was ok. The tortilla seemed stiff and not home made and not very tasty. There was different portions of fish in the tacos. My friends order the meat lovers pizza and they liked it a lot. I am a fork and knife weirdo and hate flimsy, small and plastic eating tools. The fork and knife were pretty weak and did not appeal to me at all. If you are in Kenosha, you should stop by to enjoy the roof top and a drink. read more

We would go back, but not on Saturday evening again. The homerun of this establishment is the 2nd floor, outdoor, rooftop area. The ambiance, the decor, the comfortability to be outside and relax is second to none. There are many evenings that we will be on the rooftop and relax with the ambiance, view and ambiance. We have yet to try the food, as it seems that the outdoor bar has to go inside alot to request items. But the place also doesn't seem to fill very often when we have been in attendance. It is enjoyable but seems to be missing systems and making the employees needing to do more leg work that the systems and prep work could solve for them. Recommendations by the staff or menus would also benefit the customer experience. read more

i was excited to use my birthday gift card to try this place out. it was an especially memorable occasion since I'm from out of town and I had my kids with me and I was looking forward to having a nice meal in the downtown area with them and my boyfriend. when we walked in, a lady briefly acknowledged us and waved us to an area saying we can seat ourselves. we found a table for four, and after waiting 10 minutes I helped myself to some menus at a nearby table. another 10 minutes passed without anybody coming to welcome us, give us waters, etc. another 10 minutes passed, still without any service. the only staff person that knew we existed was a young man hurriedly bussing a nearby table. we decided to leave and go somewhere else. It was truly disheartening and even more disappointing that my good friend pre-invested in this dining patronage, one that I will most likely not redeem after this experience. read more
