We also ordered wings with two sauces, and those hit the spot. Nice and meaty. For sliders, we sampled the brisket, fried chicken, and hamburger. These were a bit underwhelming....the fried chicken slider was pretty dry and the others were just okay. Definitely room for improvement there. I had a positive experience at this restaurant. We walked in on a Saturday evening after a convening in the area. It wasn't clear when we walked in if we should wait to be seated or if we just picked a table. Once we figured that out the service was quick and the waitress was attentive. The food was good, portion sizes were huge and the restaurant was clean. Anyone can work from a coffee shop, I opted to spend this afternoon working from a brewery. This one in downtown Kenosha and I started off just sipping at a beer for a while while pounding away at the laptop. But then one of the regulars ordered the lunch special and dang it, now I'm hungry. Burger, all the way. With tots. Cooked perfectly, flavorful and juicy. I originally found out about this place through Facebook events, because they were advertising family feud trivia. It's something they do every Thursday in the upper bar, and it's an absolute riot. They have some very good beers on tap, they let you sample them if you're not sure which one you want to have, and we, of course ordered some cheese curds and bar food while we were there. We ended up winning a few rounds so we got $20 off of our tab, which I found very generous since we were allowed to go out multiple times to try and compete to win. Saturday 6/15 around 2:30 pm Food was great, beer was great, service was mean spirited. My wife went in to flag down to ask if it was okay if we sit outside with our dog and order lunch. The two women Sabrina Y and another dark haired woman with tats would not even look at her. Is this "mean girl stuff?" Walked past my wife avoiding eye contact, went behind the bar, turned their backs started chatting each other up. Finally turned and deigned to greet or respond. Okay. We got waters and my wife carried the menus out. BTW, my wife is one of those totally sweet and kill them with genuine kindness people. There was no one in the place. 10 minutes later, I went in. The two servers are sucking on straws and dishing at the corner of the bar. I asked if they were "still serving lunch? If not It's okay we can go down the block." " No we are, we didn't see you there and didn't know you were outside." (We had just been seated by the dark haired woman with tats.) The lighter haired woman was totally throwing non verbal attitude, the expression on her face telegraphing contempt. Finally arriving at our table, she took the order and asked for my card, because "You're outside and sometimes people run off." I'm 60 years old and my wife is 55 and the dog is geriatric. Long and short of it is, the attitude and service was out of proportion to the fact that the restaurant was empty, the geographic location, and the level of physical beauty of the servers. Walked into this cute little brewery spot to have a refreshment after shopping. Sat down at a not so busy bar and was a full ten minutes before anyone acknowledged our presence. Bartenders need to give a nod, a wave, a smile or a "be with you in a minute" greeting at least. Female bartender waited on new folks walking up to the bar and also gave refills to others, totally ignoring us. Finally a male bartender waited on us. We had our two non eventful cocktails and left. ( same bartender who treated my friend, a repeat customer, the same way the last time she visited) Didn't bother to look at menu and left after finishing drinks to find a friendlier spot. I stopped in to Rustic Road at lunch time last Sunday, 3/13/22. I had visited once before but did not try the food, only a flight of beer. This visit I had lunch and a flight. The place is cozy and has a lot of warm colors and decor which is inviting. I was greeted immediately and invited to sit down. My male server was kind and efficient in his tasks. I was able to connect well to their Wi-Fi with password. I ordered the vegetarian chili and boneless chicken wings after a flight of 4. Everything came promptly. I thought the flight was good which included a porter and a barleywine. Tasty. Good mouth feel for all the beers & the barleywine wasn't too boozy despite the high ABV. The food was not as tasty, but was adequate. The chili did not impress as much as I didn't really get any distinct spice or flavor profile. It was good, not distinct nor had any overarching emphasis. The boneless chicken wings were actually tenders with a lot of dough/breading and some greasiness. The sauces were good, but not actually on the chicken but provided on the side which I could dip. Ok. I appreciate having control but I normally expect if wings to be covered with the sauces you choose. Last, plastic utensils. Ok. I get that it's easier to clean/dispose, but one would expect more from a rustic themed brewpub with what appears at first glance to have a more sophisticated menu. Plastic is both bad for coral reefs and for impressing your patrons. I would recommend a visit for the beer and service, but less so for the food. read more

Such a nice treat to have this be our first dining out experience post COVID lockdown! Highlights...best grilled burger and quick food experience we've had in Kenosha by far and certainly the best post covid reboot experience as well. Burger was seasoned well and grilled with attention, having a nice smoky char while maintaining a juicy tenderness. Sides, mini tots, SUPER CRISPY steamy hot and tender on the inside. The apps we great too... nice size for $ Nick the bar tender and the staff were doing a great job managing the bar, inside and outside tables, never missing a beat! Food came out with a good tempo. The biggest challenge with here is that it always LOOKS closed or empty from the street any time of day as it's signage and interior are pretty dark. It's not that it's pitch black, but they have large brewing vats in the windows which obscure the view in and block the light, while the interior decor and lighting work together the create a very comfortable yet subtlety lite interior which is very welcoming but nearly impossible to see into from the street. It always looks closed and empty. Some simple branded neon signage would be really helpful for them. We're it not for people dining street side we would walked by it again, asking "are they every open?!?!" Shine a light on this jewel... it's worth it! read more

Had a chance to pop my head in here on a recent trip to visit family in Kenosha. I have to say, I really love the beer culture in the upper Midwest, and places like Rustic are exactly why. The space looks small at first glance, but from what I understand there is additional seating upstairs? Not entirely sure about that, as I came in to do a little work and have a cheeky pint at around 1:30pm on a Wednesday, but I also have no reason to believe that it is untrue. I called ahead to ask about WiFi and seating. The bartender was super friendly, and informed me that they indeed did have WiFi and plenty of seats. When I arrived they were really helpful and informed me that there was a vacant high top next to a plug. Just what I was looking for! I snagged it up and had a look at the menu. I decided to order two of the Rustic Road offerings. It looks like they also have a decent selection of beers from other nearby breweries that I would have loved to try if I had made my appointment here for the evening. But I had to limit it to two. I went with the Lilikoi, a passion fruit sour gose, and the Hazelnut Harvest, an American red ale. The sour was fantastic. Certainly more of a sour/tart than a sweet/fruity, which is definitely my speed where sours are concerned. I had a couple of disappointing offerings from New Glarus on this trip, so I was beginning to give up on WI sours. This restored my faith a bit. The Hazelnut was pretty good, but I regretted getting it, simply because I really don't care for red ales much. It was good for what it was, I think I would have been much happier with the NE IPA, though. Ah well, there is always next time! In short, this place is great for hanging out solo or with a reasonably sized group. There looks to be a lot of seating, the service is really fast and friendly, the variety of beer is solid and fairly priced, and they do trivia here once a week as well. The unprofessional female Server was advised that we would be sitting outside but she had forgotten about us because she approached our table after 15 minutes when we were about to leave. Upon walking into the establishment to pay for our food, I complained to the unprofessional female server about the barely eaten oily tacos and she ignored me at first. I repeated myself and as she rang up the total on the register, she said, "Noted". I should have asked for a manager but if the servers are like this then I would imagine management wouldn't care either. Absolutely check out Rustic Road Brewing! I had a flight of 4 different beers, all different styles and all of them were unique and delicious. My friend and I split the soft pretzels and beer cheese (the beer cheese was great), the sweet potato tots which were perfect and the 4 taco dinner (1 of each taco). They were all really good, but the pulled pork one was by far the best. Surprisingly delicious food for a brewery. Our server was Sabrina and she couldn't have been more genuinely kind, fun, helpful and just a delightful server. If I'm ever in Kenosha again, I'd go back to this brewery just to have beer served by Sabrina because she genuinely made our day! There was so much more on the menu that I would have loved to try including some unique cocktails. Hope to be back! read more

Wow. It's been a long time since I've had beer that blew me away. In Michigan we have plenty of very good beer- this place had plenty of variety and they were all done exceptionally well. You can choose a flight of four, six, or eight beers. I did a flight of six: Hazelnut Harvest (beautiful flavors of hazelnut and vanilla well balanced) Fahrenheit 451 (jalapeno and peppercorn gave this beer a smooth and spicy kick) Belgian Strawberry Blonde (a solid strawberry blonde) Coconut Abyss Robust Porter (a really nice porter that had plenty of coconut flavors) Oaty Oatmeal IPA (an interesting oatmeal beer with an IPA bitterness, but not overwhelming) Simmons Island Imperial Blonde (an amazing blonde with a smooth and sweet finish from the honey) My favorite was the imperial blonde, I loved the honey and thought it was extremely unique. The Hazelnut Harvest and the Fahrenheit 451 were close seconds and done exceptionally well. The second brewery stop of the night. Nice downtown location, stepping into the business, you wonder the history of what used to be located here. This was my favorite of the three stops...maybe part because we were hungry, and Rustic serves food. We ordered a batch of homemade potato chips ($4), these came with cheese...this is Wisconsin afterall. One item I noticed is that they need to figure out a system for their food service, lots of confusion when order come out of the kitchen (when busy). Very busy on a Friday night. Was very relaxed in there...music was at a perfect coverstaion volume...but then trivia started. Seemed like most patrons were enjoying the trivia...my buddy thought is was quite loud. I don't know who designed this place, but I'm pretty sure it was an able-bodied man. There is only ONE wheelchair accessible table, which means only ONE table for anyone with a high chair or stroller. They put folding chairs at this table. So if you are with someone disabled, or who can't climb into tall chairs, or have a small child with you, you'll be stuck at a small table in uncomfortable, folding chairs. There's no changing table in a large, accessible bathroom. It has space for a changing table, there just isn't one. Who builds restrooms nowadays without changing tables? This isn't a bar. It's a restaurant with food that brews its own beer. It's no stretch that a family might want to come in to this place, but if you're that family, be prepared for zero facilities. On top of that, the food is terrible. The pulled pork wasn't pulled. They serve it with nothing else. On a sandwich, over tots or toast, but nothing else. Chunks of meat that aren't tender over bland ass tots with no slaw or toppings or garnish. Terrible. Apparently, you have to order at the bar, because the bar tender is too lazy or incompetent. He can't be bothered to walk to a table and take an order. He can barely be bothered to look at you. The beer is good, but who cares? The Rundown: Cool little brewery/pub with delicious beer & friendly bartenders. Overall: I'm a fan. Stopped by here a few Saturdays ago and happened to show up 15 minutes prior to their special beer event, the unveiling of their bourbon barrel age beer they had been working on the past several months. Oh man what were the odds?! For $10, a taster of this very special bourbon barrel aged stout / barley wine beer, a souvenir glass, a loaf of banana bread, and a nice selection of crackers and cheeses. Not bad not bad. Beers were great and people were friendly and we hung around for a few rounds to relax and enjoy the weekend.
