We hadn't planned to head north for dinner, but we did. We were driving around downtown. Kenosha was looking for a spot to try that was new to us, and we've heard of Slip 56. It happened to be an earlier dinner, so we got the "Happy Hour" menu along with the standard menu. Our server was Mariella "Mari." She was attentive and kind. She was quick, and the whole visit was perfect. We started with the sliders. They come 2 each per order. We chose the meatball slider and Smash slider. When these arrived, we shared 1 each of the slider types. But, much to our surprise, these sliders are more like a full-size burger. We both really enjoyed the Smash Burger more. We followed that with a Pinsas each. He ordered the cheesy garlic, and I ordered the Caprese. Both were good, but the Caprese was better and topped with so much goodness. There are several tables inside and outside for dining as well as a small parking lot and street parking. There is a full bar, although we only ordered water. The lighting is a bit dim, but not too bad. There are several TV. The entrance doesn't have steps. Rather hip spot to check out. read more

The food was delicious! The eggplant rollatini dinner was fabulous. The sauce was such a great compliment. The pizza caprese was good with a great combination of cheese that was the perfect touch. We choose to seat outside as the atmosphere and the people was just such a great vibe. It seems like they were under staff as the place was definitely packed and the servers could not keep up with providing adequate attention. I went here for the first time based off of other yelp reviews. This place did not disappoint. I was also pleasantly surprised to see they had happy hour Monday through Thursday. The waitress Halema was very nice and attentive. The fried ravioli for $6 for happy hour was fantastic! The caprice pinsa (pizza) and also the meat lover pinsa were both very good. The pear martini and the pomegranate martini were both excellent and an ample pour (at $6 for happy hour too). The only issue is the bees outside were annoying but the inside was nice. What a fantastic little hidden gem! My martini was a delicious full martini! No skimping! Their wings are top rated! Best we've ever had! (We asked for 3 sauces in the side). The burger (medium- with a bit of pink) was delicious! The fries could have been a bit more well done, but that might just be us. The price was very fair! We came in looking for brunch and ended up ordering two salads. The rib-eye Salad and the Salmon salad. The salmon itself was amazing. My husband ended up liking mine better, but his rib-eye was cooked to perfection. We were both obsessed with the blue cheese on his salad. We came in a couple weeks prior, late night, the place was hopping. The staff was doing their hardest to keep up. All the while the air conditioning had broken down. They were amazing but we felt like that wasn't the time to go in for a full meal. We are so glad we came back to try it again. The service and staff were amazing. Friendly and helpful. I like Slip 56 well enough. I guess I'm just not wowed by it. I've dined twice now when I am in Kenosha visiting family. Each time was ok, just not memorable. The bar/restaurant is clean and stylish for a corner bar type place. I like the front windows and downtown location. The menu is quite diverse. I didn't expect such variety. The food was decent - not amazing. I enjoyed the fried ravioli and thought the Cubano Sandwich trio was just ok. My sisters did not enjoy their mac & cheese at all but did like the wings quite a bit.The beer is ice cold and the soda has refills so I appreciate that. Our servers both times were friendly. Neither visit offered super attentive service. I thought the music was ridiculously loud for an almost empty bar. It kind of made us rush out of the place. Overall, I think Slip 56 has potential. There are a few aspects I appreciate and a few elements that didn't impress. I would probably stop in again for a quick drink the next time I'm downtown. This place does not impress. The food is ok, the service is bad. Sandwiches are bland but other dishes are good so it's a hit or miss. We had the boneless wings and they were fried to a crisp even the fork couldn't make it through. The service was slow although it was not busy. We were only able to get 2 drinks each during a 2 hour period since only saw our server when we put in our orders and she disappeared the rest of the time. We ended up paying the hostess instead after waiting for her. While I understand places are struggling with staff shortages, in this case there were other tables who were served just fine. I love that Kenosha is trying to come to life and I really wanted to like this place because the ambiance is fantastic. However, the food was not so good. I had a Reuben... I personally like the meat to be thinly sliced, but this was cut pretty thin and the meat was pretty dry. They forgot to put the cheese on it, which is a BIG part of a Reuben if you ask me, I mean come on, cheese makes everything better, how can you forget the cheese?!?!?! My boyfriend had a Caesar salad. The dressing was not Caesar dressing, tasted more mustard based, which was not good on a Caesar dressing. Our server was very friendly, however, after the food came out he did not come back by to see if we needed anything (like maybe the cheese on my Reuben or a different dressing for the salad!) So we ended up eating what we were given, and left disappointed! I really hope this place reads their reviews and can take into consideration what people are saying. Slip 56 was just okay in my honest opinion. We didn't get to try the food because when we grabbed a seat during happy hour, our waitress was at our table once for a drink order. It took almost 20 minutes for us to get that order. She then never came back to the table and it seemed she was the only one working tables with about 4 other people standing around behind the bar. We are new to the area and I ended up going with a friend. The place has potential but we waited almost an hour before she even came back to the table so we closed out at the bar (which took another 15 mins for 2 glasses of wine to be cashed out). My group of 3 went for a drink around 7pm on a Monday evening. We were completely ignored for the first 10 minutes we were there. Then when someone did finally come to take our order, she greeted us by saying "I'm not supposed to be your server, but he's too busy" We ordered one of their signature drinks and 2 mojitos. All were just terrible. The mint leaves in the mojitos were wilted and mushy. I walked up to the bar to complain and pay so we could leave and was completely ignored again by 2 bartenders who were watching something on their phones. As we were leaving we were stopped by another table that had a very similar story to ours, they ordered food as well as drinks and were not impressed. So disappointed because we love to support local downtown businesses. But, we will not be back. read more

Very loud in here so don't go if you want quite. Food was good. Coleslaw was an extra charge and too heavy for me but had a good taste. Cuban burger was awesome could really taste the Sriracha and the pork was tender and finely shredded. I will say the ham on it looked like a slice of deli ham and couldn't taste it much but held everything together. This place is very clean even the bathrooms. Service is not fast for drinks so make sure you are not in a hurry. One more thing I loved they have charging poets and purse hooks at the bar! read more

We had a good experience. Our bartender was new and very personable. She worked hard to get answers to all of my questions on their extensive selection. I had hand breaded calamari. It was fantastic. Slip 56 maybe the only place to hand bread calamari in Kenosha so I really appreciated that. My husbands steak sandwich was ok too. read more
