Atmosphere was the standout thing about this location. Balcony sitting in the evening on a great weather day cannot beat the view. First service was good, but nothing stand out. Was equally good, but nothing stand out. Something's more flavorful than others.

Well, the tale of two hamburgers! We have eaten at Boathouse several times and I love the Pontoon Pete, but not after tonight! My burger was the equivalent of a frozen patty from a box and tasted like it! My husband, on the other hand, had a great burger. Fries had way too much seasoned salt as well. Not sure who was cooking tonight, but how can two burgers be so different? I know this place is pretty popular but the food has to equal the atmosphere for me, and this doesn't cut it!

Suuuuuch a good salad! Everything tasted fresh and the Brussels sprouts were a great addition! Also love that you can park your boat here to grab a bite!

Great spot! I was first thinking of waterfront dining and was pleasantly surprised by the menu too. Excellent crab stuffed mushrooms and I recommend for an appetizer. Steak salad was perfect. The steak was seasoned nicely and the greens were fresh. The Brussels Sprouts salad was interesting. The Brussels were grilled nicely but I think the romaine lettuce was probably yesterday's; hence the ding. Service by Carter was excellent.

Margarita flatbread - looks delicious but unfortunately was not

Drats, I really wanted to love this waterfront restaurant! The good? Beautiful setting (for central Indiana), and kudos to the staff for doing an awesome job at handling our reservation on a crazy busy night. The not-so-great? I ordered the Margarita flatbread, and in a rare move, asked for it to be returned to be cooked longer. For $17, you got a pre-made piece of flatbread, some kind of clearly canned red sauce, roasted tomatoes and feta. The promised "basil drizzle" was a minuscule amount of basil sprinkled on the dish. The roasted tomatoes were the only thing decent. The dish was almost cold when I received, and the feta still very firm. I asked for it to be cooked longer, and 20 minutes later, I received the exact same dish. Perhaps it was warmed up then sat on the counter? My husband had the fish sandwich. Fish was fresh but woefully underseasoned. Our server was personable but clearly frantic. We don't mind extended wait times when it's busy, but had to flag him down for the bill over 30 minutes after we finished. Such a great property and fun vibe - maybe make your menu shorter and execute with better quality? Use some balsamic reduction on the margarita?

Gorgeous scenery for photo ops - the table here is perfect!

My husband surprised me with a date night here. I can't believe I've never been after living in Indianapolis for 16 years! Just a beautiful 20-40minute drive (depending on where you're located in the Indy area) into the quaint country scene of Cicero and here lies this gem. He made a reservation near the water and the hostess said the best seat in the house was available, score! Chill music playing made the vibe even sweeter as boats docked at the sun was beginning to set ever so slightly. There's a grassy area nearby with colorful adirondack chairs where you can soak up more of the music/view before or after dinner, as well as picnic tables out front. Plenty of parking, too! Our waitress, I wish I could remember her name because she was great and so kind, was training another kind woman named Rosie. We started with the crab stuffed mushrooms and there were very good, made with real crab, and you get several for the price - immediately further impressed! I got the original steam pot and I love that it comes in various sizes/combos. The one person original was only $23 and it came with skin-on de-veined shrimp, andouille sausage, corn, onions, garlic, lemon, thyme, and a Cajun spice butter sauce - SO good! Not a huge portion but plenty for me and a great size for the price. I'm glad I asked for a side of the house made cocktail sauce for my shrimp because it was excellent. My husband got the tuna poke bowl and for $21, I couldn't believe how much tuna he received! The ponzu sauce was delicious and the other toppings were SO fresh! Explosions of flavor all around. He also had a bowl of broccoli cheddar, the soup of the day, which was homemade and tasty. We didn't drink but the cocktails were reasonably priced at around $12/each. They also have draft beer and wine. I was just grateful they kept our waters full, a small but important touch. We ended the night with a slice of key lime pie for just $6. It was just okay to me but my husband loved it. I would have liked it better without all of the canned whipped cream on the plate/pie. Overall the dinner was delicious, priced very well, excellent staff, and the most gorgeous views! Other diners were in such good moods (how could you not be here?!) and my husband even chatted with some strangers after hearing them tell the wait staff that they were from his home state - small world! I don't know how this place doesn't have a higher overall rating but it's definitely worth checking out for a family get together, date night, girls night out, etc. Definitely make a reservation when the weather is nice!

Chips & Queso Grilled Grouper Sandwich

Ariel was an amazing server and spot on with her recommendations. The grilled grouper sandwich was delicious. It was very light and seasoned well, it paired perfectly with my cucumber caprioska cocktail. The meal was perfect and fit the relaxed vibe and amazing view of the water.

The atmosphere here is great! The water view, music and east coast feel was lovely. We got a drink and an appetizer, which we decided on the Brussels sprouts side. They were nice and crispy, had some bacon, and were a good size. We were shocked when the bill came and they were only $3.50. The sandalista cocktail was tasty, but I couldn't even taste the gin. Our waitress was attentive and helpful with recommendations. They have happy hour that ends at 5pm and live music sometimes too!

Tried this place again after 4 years- and it's still not good. Service is slow, and the food came out cold. The vibes at the restaurant are cool I guess, but left very disappointed. I don't recommend coming here

Overall, a good experience. We've watched several restaurants come and go in this location and a year or two ago 8 said we really need to give this a try. Had a great weekend weather day and decided to have lunch. Made reservations for the patio and had a nice view of the lake. Thought the food was decent and enjoyed our cocktails. Service was good but it slowed a bit as it got busier. I heard the server tell people next to us that the bar was backed up. When we left I could see why. The place was packed and a wait to be seated. I would certainly come again but you really want the weather to be decent because the views and atmosphere outside is why you come here.

We were looking for a place to eat outdoors and the Boathouse Kitchen is perfect. Big plus that they accept reservations. Nice indoor and fantastic outdoor area. Views and atmosphere are great too. Service was good as well. The food is a little overpriced for the portion size and quality. I paid $22 for two under-seasoned grouper fish tacos with fries. Add a third taco or charge less. Definitely worth another visit to try some of their other dishes.

I've anxiously been waiting and excited to go here and for my wedding anniversary then we finally made the drive and I'm so glad we did! Very much off the beaten path from when I live, we drove interstates as well a country roads with pretty scenery to get here! Located on the water, we requested to be seated out on the patio so we could watch the boats and hear the live music, however, we had to walk through the indoor area to get to the patio this we passed through the inviting air conditioning and comfy booths. We also noticed that indoors you can still hear the live music because it's on speakers indoors as well. When we were seated then the position of the sun was causing a pretty substantial brightness to reflect off the water and caused me to squint to be able to look towards my husband. We then asked to be seated indoors and they willing took us indoors at a booth that also overlooked at the water, a bonus for us! Our waitress Olivia was very friendly and helpful. We began with an order of 'Frickles' which are fried pickles. They were yummy! They also soothed our hunger while we waited for our food without be too much to have spoiled our appetites. I also ordered the Strawberry Mojito which came out right away. For our meal we decided to get the Original Boathouse Steam pot for two. This was plenty for the two of us and we were surprised to see that they gave us so many shrimp! We also had Andouille Sausage in the dish and red potatoes with four small corn ears which had been broken giving us two halves each. We ate every bit of it because it was delicious! We then ordered a piece of key lime pie to split which was delicious! We definitely will return to this laid back spot.

That is risk when using TouchTunes since people can pay more to skip and play their songs, but it was super annoying since he did it the entire time we were there. We stayed an hour, hour and a half, and as we were cashing out the song I had paid to play when we first arrived finally came on.
