Everyone in the office was friendly, reassuring, and they minimized paperwork and any contact I had to have with my insurance company. They also provided me with an insurance-covered rental car that conformed to my insurer's policy. Bob & Fred's works with your insurance company adjuster so that you get a realistic quote for the work that needs to be done to make all repairs; the obvious ones as well as the unseen damages that can be overlooked. Unfortunately, I have to update this with a less than favorable review. I recently had to have some body work done & I am very displeased. There was damage done to my hood & trunk. Anytime I've had a car in this shop they've returned it to me in like new condition. This time, not so much. The hood wasn't repainted & I was told that they didn't see a reason for reprinting the entire hood for one small spot. If I'm paying for this then I expect it do be done right. The dent is still there & you can notice a difference in color. The trunk, they did get right with the exception of the emblems. The emblems were misspelled & weren't placed in the correct area. They were placed about 3 or 4 inches lower than their original placement. I brought this to their attention & they had me leave the car there again to fix the mistake. I got the car back & while the name of the car was spelled right, the emblems were still in the wrong place & nothing was straight. It's just a shame because they really are nice people & have always done really good work on my cars. I don't know what happened this last time. read more

It looked great and they even painted the part at no extra charge. They knew I didn't have insurance coverage for the body work and they gave me a fair price. The WORST customer service! When I went there originally (upon recommendation of the insurance company), I waited in the office for quite some time as there was no desk person. When Fred met me he never apologized for the wait or greeted me. When I returned to drop my vehicle off 2 weeks later (as this is when they could fit me in) I again waited 10 mins. In the office because there is no desk person or even a bell to let someone know there is a customer waiting. Fred mocked the damaged of my vehicle and told me it would be ready by the following day and to call him in the am for a time. When I called for a time I was told he would need another day and to call the next day. The following day the phone was busy of off the hook all day. Where Is my car???????? read more

They appear to be quite the scam artists. My wife got in an accident on a friday and had to have her car towed. So Bob and Fred were sent in, no big deal. Monday I call and Tuesday I sent AAA to go get my car. Tuesday morning I went in to go pay the bill. Now, I will say that I am to blame here since I just paid and didn't look at the receipt until after. But that's when I noticed some weird charges. Number of miles towed: 1.6.with first mile free. And for charges it said Each additional mile $5: Total charge $20. Umm what? Clean up $35, Clean up what? Yard $50. Yard, how so? I'm already paying $25 a day for storage! So I needed to have my car towed due to an accident and the police called this company because they were next in rotation. RUDE doesn't even describe the events that happened next. The driver proceeded to curse at us and refused to bring our car to the service station that we use in Merrick. He asked why the f**k we called him and he told us he was taking our car to his station. After my shop talked to him he agreed to tow it to my house that was literally down the block from the accident and charged an EXORBITANT price. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. read more

Professional, friendly, and reasonable shop that does body work to customer's satisfaction. My car was dented in several places after an accident. Filed claims with Allstate, and Bob & Fred's Collision was one of the recommended/approved list of body shops. I set up an appointment for auto body work about 2 weeks after the accident. The shop had many cars in line to fix in queue. Fred gave me an estimate that it would take about a week to get parts and make them look like new. I've visited this shop for body work twice, and both times Fred kept his word about his repair estimates. Body work was excellent. Obviously I don't understand a thing about fixing cars or anything, but the car looked new and I couldn't find anything wrong or different about the car after driving them around again for a week or two. Bob & Fred's were the most understanding and helpful people I have ever dealt with! I came to get my items, called a bunch of times and they were always accommodating and polite, NEVER frustrated. BEWARE AND IF YOU'RE SMART STAY AWAY! They are rude and do horrible work. They were so sloppy, there was paint all over my license plate. They promised me to buff out surface scratches, but didn't do it. When I showed Bob the scratches (there were 2 of them possibly a half inch in length) he went nuts, screaming at me that the job was done, when clearly it wasn't. Bob should hang up the towel, he lost sense of what good customer service is. If there was a way to give this shop a Zero that would be a kind rating for them. read more

The wife banged up the brand new mini van while on vacation. The insurance company gave us 3 auto-body shops to choose from and B&F was one of them. I checked them out on the Better Business Bureau website and they had no complaints. I also viewed their storefront from Google maps via the satellite. The place was clean and they had plenty of cars parked in their lot which means they have a thriving business. The 2 other auto-body shops were located in an industrial area and looked like a junkyard. I dealt with one of the owner which was Bob. He is a very nice man and he did my appraisal. I had damage on the bumper and driver side fender. I asked him if I get new parts since the car is relatively new. Bob said per the insurance company; I get a new fender but a refurbished bumper. He said if I could get approval from my insurance company for a new bumper; he put in it. After arguing with my insurance company for an hour and being transferred from agent to agent; the end result was NO NEW bumper. Bob saw my frustration and determined the price difference between a new bumper and refurbished bumper was only $70. He told me to don't worry I'll ensure you'll get a new bumper; I'll eat the cost. Bob said he understood my reasoning because the car was still new. There was also some scuff marks on the passenger side fender from when my wife grazed a construction cone that they buffed out for no additional cost. The car was ready as promised. The car washed, vacuumed, wheel rims Armor All, and the inside had this new car smell (don't know what he did to do that). In this world where it's somewhat difficult to find a honest professional reputable business; it was a pleasure to do business with Bob & Fred's Collision. I hoped I don't have any more auto-body damage but I least I know where to bring my cars if I do. read more

This is my first review although I have used Bob and Fred's for four separate occasions. I look for three things when doing business... 1. Very good work done on time. 2. Honest communication. 3. Treated with fairness and respect. I can tell you Bob and Fred's exceeds in all three areas, more so than I would hope for. I worked primarily with Fred, although I can say everyone I've spoken with was great - whether moving my car for me or answering questions. The work they do is excellent. I've been hit twice on the drivers side while parked, had a wheel rim fixed on the passenger side, and had my windshield replaced as well. Each time my car looked like it just came from the factory. They work with various rental car companies as well where you can be picked up and leave your rental car there when your own car is finished. Definitely in good hands with Bob and Fred's. read more

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. I went there about a week ago because I got a really bad stain, either from bird poop or berries from a tree on my brand new, 3 week old white highlander. I cleaned it best as possible but it left a brown noticeable stain that I could not get out. Needless to say I was annoyed. So I took it to Bob & Fred's to see what can be done, to the point I asked for an estimate for a door repaint. Fred came out to look at it, told me to hold on, went in the garage, took some liquid wax or something and was able to get it out. Thanked him very much and asked him how much. This business is about QUANTITY, not QUALITY. Car had severe sanding scratches, fisheyes in the clear and overspray EVERYWHERE. Brought the car back to have them polish out scratches. They removed most of the scratches but burnt the paint of my roof molding in the process. At this point I wasn't about to bring the car back a THIRD time to have them fix the remaining mistakes. I took it upon myself to scrape the remaining overspray off my glass and mirrors. For $7300 worth of repairs I was GROSSLY unsatisfied. Maybe the owners should actually keep an eye on the work that leaves their shop instead of just pushing repairs out the door without knowing the quality. I suppose it is also possible the are aware of the quality and are okay with that. If that's the case, then the problem is even bigger. read more

When I was in a rear end collision, I figured I would go with the local business to have my repairs done. Big mistake. After keeping my car for a month with no calls, I questioned when I would get my car back. They told me they were waiting for payment and basically held my car hostage until they got paid from insurance (not mine, the other person's insurance paid everything) When I came to pick up my car, it was covered in scratches on the roof, doors, sides, and more. There was a gauge in the spoiler that was not there before. I was spoken to in a VERY rude manner by Fred Sr. who accused me of giving them a "jerk job" to get my car prettied up at their expense. Fred Jr. told me he was 100% sure the scratches were from snow removal. I went home and asked the insurance company to forward pictures that were taken. Lo and behold, there was my broken bumper atop my car! Another photo showed work materials piled up on my roof 3 to 4 feet high! They attempted to fix the imperfections, but after 2 visits to inspect the work I just took my car so that it wouldn't be damaged any more. So when I came in to pick up the car the final time, after making me wait 45 minutes, they told me that I had a "betterment fee" from the insurance company. Apparently it was initially 10%, but when they called to complain it was raised to 19%. I was not paying any of it. I had to call the insurance company and scream at many people (I was pretty enraged at this point) to get the fee cancelled. THEN when I came to pick up my car I was charged $85 for a new battery! Save yourself from future issues later on. I went to Bob and Fred's because my neighbor recommended them. I had damage done to the front bumper and fender two years ago. I immediately got it fixed by Bob and Fred's. They got spray paint on the bottom of my windshield, and the front bumper was an after market bumper so they made there own holes to make it stay. Now I have rust starting to form on the front bumper where the holes were drilled and along the side of the fender. Make sure when you go to a body shop, that they are going to use OEM parts on your car. I learned my lesson, so please do not let this happen to you. read more
