AVOID! If you are in an accident and the police call R&U to tow your car, DO NOT let these guys take it. We were in an accident, these guys were called on behalf of the police, and the driver Ronnie asked us where to tow the car. We had an autobody in mind and gave him the address. He promised to have the car delivered to our autobody in 20-30 minutes. This was on a Friday ... only to find out on Monday that the autobody we wanted the car towed to never received the car. Despite telling us that he would take it to OUR autobody, Ronnie took it back to his .. and did not inform us. I called them to find out where my car was, spoke to Nick, and he told us that they are required to take the car to their body as it's a local law .. but that's NOT true. And why did they not tell us this when they took the car??? It then took me 3 days, multiple phone calls and a trip to their shop to sign my car for release to our desired auto body. Forget the amount of charges applied to tow the car just 5 miles to HIS shop, and then they charged an insane amount of money to leave our car parked on the curb near the Bellmore train station for multiple nights as our car was held captive, letting the fees continue to rack up. I came to R&U for the first time after being rear-ended on the highway. I heard about them by word of mouth and was hopeful to establish a business relationship with a reliable mechanic after a few bad experiences with other mechanics in the area. Nick assessed my car, then immediately filed a claim with the insurance company and set up an appointment for the insurance adjuster to inspect the vehicle that same week. He provided me with a rental vehicle which was clean and detailed, in pristine condition, and I was able to leave the shop with all of this process having been started in under an hour. He regularly called me to update me on the progress of my repair and a tremendous amount of work was completed for my car in just a few short weeks, significantly faster than any work I have ever had done with any vehicle I have owned prior. When I picked up my car the quality of the repairs was impeccable, Nick and the owner were kind enough to offer me a free detailing job within 90 days after my repair was completed, and overall throughout the entire process they were incredibly courteous, professional, and competent. Came here to pop out a dent and light paint work. Was quoted heavy by one of the guys and then the owner, Ron, came to take a look. He said he would pop the dent out and touch it up for no charge. I was baffled and didn't believe but left the car with him a few days later. Dropped it off no hassle, he said just call after 12. Called after 12 and it was done, dent popped out and paint touched up. He refused any money because he said it was no big deal. I've had my car repaired twice. The first time the car was hit by a postal truck. They sent a tow truck but I was scared to leave the car with them. Ron said he would tow the car to my house, no charge. Once they dropped off the car I decided to give him a chance. He sent the tow truck back and took the car to his shop. Then he got me a rental and he used his credit card. Now I was impressed. The repair took 2 months and after 30 days the post office said they would not pay for a rental over 30 days. Ronnie said don't worry, he'll take care of the rental. Long story short after 60 days the car was returned in perfect condition and there was no bill to pay. My advise to anyone is when Ronnie says don't worry, you have nothing to worry about. read more

I had an accident in LI on 6/15/19, my car was towed to R&U Autobody. I live in the Bronx and the last place I wanted my car towed to was a shop in LI. It wound up to be the best place for my car. Even though my car was considered totaled!! Nick walked me through every step of the process. I would never haven gotten through this trauma without Nick. He is extremely knowledgeable about the insurance processes, and was able to guide me with some information that I would never had known about. This is the second review I am leaving for this place since they had my original review from over two years ago taken down. Stay away from this place. I took my car there a while back and the work they did on the car (which was supposed to take two weeks) took almost two months. Then when I went to pick up my car, there was a huge crack going all the way across the windshield which they "claim" was there when they got the car but was not part of the original estimate so I had to put a second claim in on my insurance policy. Btw....the window was not cracked when they got the car after someone hit my back bumper. Then there was a huge tear in the leather on the back seat (like someone had a knife in their pocket when they were cleaning the car) which they "claim" was already there. This place is the worst. There is a perfectly good place across the street which is where I brought the car the next time it needed work and they were amazing. If I could give them negative stars I would. read more

Who charges storages fee on your car while they are working on it. Car was supposed to be fixed in a week took almost two months to fix. Think twice before doing business with this establishment! R & U Auto Body was the tow company that was called to my accident site and towed my car. Even though I told them where I wanted my car towed I was told that it wasn't a big deal and they would bring the car to their shop and my shop could pick-it up not a problem. Never was I told at the accident site that they would need me to release the car to my own bodyshop. After leaving the accident site I was called by my chosen bodyshop that they would not release the car until I physically went to the shop and signed release paperwork. Mind you I live outside of the county of their bodyshop. When I called about not having been informed (because I would have followed the tow truck or not have had it towed) I was told I could fax a note with a copy of my driver's license to their shop. However, the fax would not go through. When I called again about the hoops they were putting me through to release MY vehicle I was told by Nick that they were doing me a favor and that they could make me come down and fill out the paperwork and that he has no problem dealing with a disgruntled customer. Finally we agreed on me emailing the documents but now they wanted a copy of my registration, license and a signed note releasing the car to my chosen bodyshop. Each time I dealt with member of this shop their requirements changed. Long story short I found out that the tow driver was suppose to have me sign the release form at the accident site and should not have put me through this. On top of being in an accident, not feeling well afterward these men had no regard for my well being and added more stress to my already stressful day. read more

Took them 2 months to "fix" my car. At first job was supposedly done then they said the reviwer needed to come again. I pick up my car and a part was still wobbly by the window. I called them back and was met with attitude. I was told call back in a week we'll order the part. Called back, guy flat out said we forgot to order. Well now since he put in the wrong item, it ended up breaking a clip by my window which I am now paying out of my pocket to replace. Brought my car in for a minor accident. Needed a new Door Panel and Bumper. Also needed to paint the Hood over. Car sat in the shop for the first week with nothing being to done it. it was Basically collecting dust. Had to go back and forth with my insurance because they were trying to over charge for the work they needed to do. As of now (over two weeks later) my car is still sitting there and it may take as long as next week to get it back. DO NOT COME HERE. However,at that point of my life everyone had either moved away, retired, or died, and I. Was at the mercy of the tow truck driver and the shop they brought it to. When I went to the shop I gave it a good look around and they were well equipped for the job, and the boss said all the right things, including that he would get me a rental car. I told him that I didn't know I had that covered and he assured me I did,and if he was wrong he would pay for it. After I didn't know I had a concussion, broken back and neck, and it took them so long to get my car back that the insurance company actually sent me a hundred bucks. Anyway the job was acceptable after a few returns, he tried to stick me with three rental bill. The only thing that saved me is his partner was leaving him and backed me up. RUN from this place. They are con artists. My car was towed here after it was hit by another vehicle. It should have been totaled. They kept my car over 2 months telling me that they hadn't heard back from the insurance company. Then I get a call one day to pick it up. NOT ONLY did they NOT fix all the damage that happened bc of the accident they also created MORE damage. Letters were missing, the undercarriage wasn't bolted to the rest of the car, instead of replacing hubcaps they spray painted the shredded ones, all the tire valves were missing, and many many more issues! .... over 10K in damage on a car that was only worth 11K prior to the accident. Now its worth nothing, its junk, drives clunky, hard to maneuver, noisy as all hell. They never contacted me about estimate and just are concerned with profiting off their customers. They are practicing major insurance fraud and do a shitty job. DO NOT RECOMMEND. They have major attitude and are derogatory to me and talked badly about me while I was on a three way telephone conversation with Ronnie and the insurance company, they said I didn't know what I was talking about and that I didn't even speak English - I grew up with family and friends that own auto body shops and I am born and raised in NY. Shotty work! And horrendous customer service! They used all used non-Honda parts and didnt replace my windshield properly so that the rubber seal came off within a week! The interior fabric is sagging now because of this! Not to mention they kept telling me they would have my car ready in 2 weeks! They ended up keeping my car for 2 months! I also got charged over $1300 in car rental fees after they told me they would take care of it several times! I spoke to Rich who told me to speak with the owner Ronnie... However, when asked when Ronnie would be in, he said he didn't know EVERY TIME I CALLED. I emailed them my bill from the rental place. Not even a reply. When i called again to speak with Rich, and i expressed my frustration, he told me "to do what I gotta do" to get the money back, which is go to small claims court! Worst service ever. I took my car there, a week later the insurance pays out the money. They stated it should take one week. Before I knew it a month had passed. So every other day I'm calling and stating I want my car and all there telling me is a couple of more days. I go to the facility and my car is still not put together. I mean really now it's a month and a half. Finally get the car back and I'm missing parts on my car. Parts that weren't involved in the accident. I took it back told them I'm missing brackets and that I saw them disassemble my bumper so why am I missing pieces. Also stated that there was noise under the car and that I needed a wheel alignment. They fix my bumper by tying cord on it. Brackets weren't replaced. Instead they drilled a whole and messed up my running board. Wheel alignment was never done. Noise still under the car.
