After waiting a bit, she gave me the GF menu, I ordered the Mini Sampler (one egg, Hashbrown and 2 sausages) GF. It took about 15-20 mins to receive our food and waitress checked on us once. Okay so here's why one of my favorite Bob Evans has less than a stellar review. The food is great without a doubt. The service was awesome but the ambiance... sigh there is a very heavy musty moldy smell that was consistent during my visit. It's the carpet I think. I use to work here and it use to be a good place to work until a change in general manager occurred in 2023 and then the scheduling manager who had belittled me before, reduced my hours, claimed it was because I was not doing this many racks in this many minutes on the dish line. Very stupid excuse but I think the scheduling manager was lying to me through his native tongue (that is if English is his native tongue), but I know it was really for the purpose of getting me to quit, which I did on Christmas Eve of 2023 as it seemed there was no care about my health, as someone who was not even legally old enough to smoke, chose to vape right in my workspace with no consideration and I told her I am allergic to tobacco smoke (because ahem, I am). I wrote a note on the erasable board that if anyone wants to smoke or vape, please do it outside cause 1st of all there is a public smoking ban (which means it is illegal to do it inside the restaurant, if anyone wants to do it right inside their own home, no legal problem there cause you can even smoke weed if you want in your home in Michigan if legally allowed to possess weed and old enough, but for real anyone wanting to smoke or vape needed to go right outside to do it, not do it inside where it's illegal and people could have allergies to this) and in addition to mention of a public smoking ban, I also mentioned there are people who are allergic to tobacco smoke, cause I know I am not the only one on this planet that is allergic, as I have met others also allergic to it too. Well a certain sociopath that was working there whom I already chose to block on Facebook so I could avoid him on there, once I realized he's a sociopath, decided to erase it since he ahem didn't care about my health of the health of anyone else working here. I was already working another job anyways as I had applied for another one so I could get out of this one, and I finally decided that's it, I quit, I e-mailed the health dept about what happened too, since oh yeah it was a health department issue. Well after this, the place ended up down to just 1 dishwasher. Galatians 6:7 says: Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. It all started with a dirty table. Waited forever, when food did come it was cold. Sent food back and they microwaved it. Food tasted like it was made yesterday. The grilled chicken tasted like bad processed food, similar to McDonalds Nuggets. I had to stop a waitresses that walked by to get more coffee, our waitress was nowhere to be found. The manager checked us out and said nothing to us. If he had asked about our meal I would have told him. He is probably tired of hearing complaints. No more Bob Evans for us. We love Bob Evans restaurants for breakfast and frequent the one by our home. We were visiting Frankenmuth and decided to get breakfast here in Birch Run. The food was good and the server Kim was amazing. Unfortunately our food was served cold and the butter did not soak into the Rye toast I had, as it was cold and crunchy. We never send our food back, so we just powered through. The table behind us got their food shortly after us and immediately complained that their food was cold as well. This is an easy fix that the cook staff needs to address, as it was not busy and they had all the time they needed to prepare the food. A plate warmer or standard heating lamps as the food rests while getting the entire order done is needed. This was hard for me to do, as I never have done bad reviews before. But I believe it can be fixed easily, so this is why I left this review. Otherwise this restaurant was like all the other Bob Evens we have visited and love. read more

Our waitress was at our table to take our order, deliver our drinks, deliver our food when it finally came out, come over and tell my husband how impressed she was with herself because she knew the difference between discs and drum brakes and give us our bill. I feel she should make a little more effort to let us know about the food wait, refill our drinks, check on us now and then but nope not her. Luckily the food made up for her incompetence. read more

It was Labor Day and a perfect day to go shopping at Birch Run Outlet. After ending our shopping at the Nike Store, the closest restaurant we could just walk across the street was Bob Evans. Lots of customers and only a handful of servers)also working as cooks. Food was slowly cooking in the kitchen. Our waiter is also the cook. Taking other people's order and forgetting about ours is a no no. They were over worked and under staff :-) all customers that day had to wait a little bit longer to be served. Felt like I was eating frozen food. Mac and cheese tasted like the one that came from a small box of Annie's. Ordered 2 boneless chicken breast but came as 1 and a half. The only thing good I could say about is their pumpkin and banana bread...so sweet and dense. For sure this will be my last dining experience at this Bob Evans location. read more

A trip to Birch Run Outlet center and a stop for lunch at the Bob Evans by the mall. I stopped to wash my hands before sitting down - the men's room was a pit. Standing water on the sink edges (so my shirt got soaked) and I don't want to know why the floor in front of the urinals was so . . . sticky. Told the manager(?) The response was to put a 'Wet Floor' sign in the bathroom. A spilled drink on the floor/carpet was ignored the entire time we were there. My bacon cheeseburger was simply bad. Good fresh lettuce and tomato but the meat was old and overcooked, very rubbery. DW ordered the BBQ mac and cheese, a very sour cheese flavor combined with an overly sweet BBQ sauce. Absolutely disgusting food that caused (several) diarrhea attacks shortly after we left and continuing on through the evening. The waiter (James) was great, but this restaurant should be on a health department warning list! read more

We were driving up to Oscoda, and needed lunch. I was craving a wildfire chicken salad, so we stopped at Bob Evans. 1st, it's impossible to find via the road. You can see the sign from the expressway, and even from the road, but we couldn't figure out how to get there! We ended up driving thru a car dealership. I have to agree with everyone else, although the food it good, the service is lacking. We were there on a Wednesday afternoon-ish, and the place was pretty dead, yet it took forever to get seated. Once seated, another 5 minutes before they took our drink orders, and when I tried to order our food too at that time, the waitress said she would take our food order when we came back. Well, another 5 minutes, and she dropped off our drinks, and signaled she would be right with us. Food is good, service is friendly, but sub-par. read more

Three guests in a less than half full restaurant. Food took far too long and no one was happy with their meal when it finally did arrive. Chicken sandwich was "rubbery", toast was ice cold and slathered in "butter", sausage patties were dry pucks and pancakes were mush in the centers. read more

I mean, for a Bob Evans, it was pretty awesome. I came in during a hot summer day after, of course, perusing the outlet shops. I was starving and luckily sat immediately and provided with ice cold waters to start. The waitress came over and was extremely friendly, making small talk and asking about how my day was going, which was nice. I decided to go with a Mexican-type chicken salad for lunch with grilled chicken, dinner roll on the side. It was just what I needed and the salad was massive - so much so that I couldn't finish it all despite being starving when I sat down. The grilled chicken was so tender and cooked perfectly, a perfect compliment for the crisp romaine, cheddar cheese, veggies, and ranch dressing. I had to balance out my healthiness with a big roll that I proceeded to cover completely in butter, not upset about it at all! Despite the waitresses good nature in trying to convince me on dessert, I passed, but overall it was a great experience. Good food, great staff. read more

This is a good breakfast or brunch place for outlet mall shoppers, with what you'd expect in terms of food and slightly above average service, even when it gets swamped. I ate here last time with my wife and mother-in-law for a late brunch/early lunch when we took a trip out to Birch Run to take advantage of a few holiday deals at the outlet mall. We were seated quickly and our orders taken right away, but they weren't busy yet. We got our drinks right away, refills were flowing, but the food took a long time. Once we got it, my wife's sandwich order was incorrect and it had to be sent back. She was starving, all of us were, but we felt like we couldn't begin eating without her having something right in front of her to eat, too. Thank goodness, our waitress got the re-order in fast and her food was in front of her right away. It's a good thing, because my wife is a real grouch when she gets hungry. Stay away. I ordered breakfast, which was fair, but could have been better. I've had better from Bob Evans, but it wasn't bad. The fried potatoes were a little greasy for my liking. My wife's sandwich was fine, nothing to get crazy about, but my mother-in-law's pot roast sandwich was too fatty. My wife had a side of coleslaw, which I tried. It was pretty good, not too vinegary. Again, the food was not bad, just okay that day. We've had better from this location before. The restaurant was clean and our waitress very pleasant. She apologized profusely about the order error and even thought it was her fault until the cook cleared it up and admitted to mixing up the tickets. We've stopped here for breakfast before. The pancakes were always good, but the eggs, whichever way they're made, have been either really great or not good at all. It depends on who is cooking that day. The salads have been pretty good and the rolls, banana bread and biscuits are always good, very consistent with other Bob Evans restaurants. Their potato or beef vegetable soups have been pretty good, which is why we often get a soup and sandwich or soup and salad combo for a lighter lunch. We did have the salmon dinner here before with glazed vegetables. That was actually pretty good and I would eat it again. The vegetables were glazed nicely and cooked just right. I hate overcooked or under cooked vegetables. That's nasty, so I was pleased they were cooked the way I liked. The salmon was also cooked to my liking, very tender, as I would make it at home. The special butter that was served with it on the side was great. A good value with good service. read more

I never thought I would give a 5 star review to Bob Evans - but that was exactly my dinner experience at the Birch Run location. The staff was extremely courteous and the chicken fried steak dinner was cooked perfectly and delicious! I will be back next week for a repeat during my next business trip. read more

From start to finish the worst dining experience I've ever had. Server was terrible. I had to ask other people for refills, she never checked on us to ask how the food was (spoiler alert, it was garbage). The food was dry, lukewarm and salty, oh so salty, as if it had been bathed in sea water then for good measure they just poured the whole container of salt on it. Went in after a long day of shopping at Birch run. Sat down around 7:40PM didn't get drink till around 8:20PM. We waited about 15 more minutes to order our food. We ordered and waited until 9:00PM to get our food, mind you they close at 9:00PM. Got all of our food, filmy brown gravy, soggy bread on the double cheese pot roast sandwich, no hunny mustard on the chicken sandwich, I had to wait longer for my biscuits and gravy, and both sandwiches had cold fry's. Called for the manager, he did not seem liked he cared much that we had a bad time. He remade the pot roast sandwich and gave the hunny mustard to us. He took $25 off the bill. We left a $3 tip because we thought we should. Went to pay and the waitress walked up to me and gave it back saying, "I really don't want this" and shoved it back into my hand. She was very negligent of our table. I do not recommend coming here if you want good food in a timely manner. read more

After waiting for 20 minutes, the hostess - who had taken our name- began to take a group who had just walked in until one of the women asked if we'd been waiting. We were seated and sat for over 15 minutes unnoticed until the poor manager was requested at a nearby table and we flagged her down, asking if a server was working our section. A few minutes later a waitress came over and took our drink and food order. Another 10 minutes went by before she reappeared with our drinks. Food was adequate, except the biscuits, which didn't arrive with our meals and had to be "sought after". When she did bring them. She told us we were Lucky cause they just "come out". Excitedly I reached for what I was sure would be a warm biscuit with a steaming center to find a STONE COLD, barely warm enough not to be considered frozen biscuit! For being Bob Evans I was shocked at the service and food here. It was beyond my expectations. The assistant manager treated us like family, she talked with us and gave my kids free tshirts and cookies. I wish all restaurants had the staff as this Bob Evans does! I got the turkey melt and it was amazing. One of the best comfort foods I had in a long time! MY hubby got a mushroom burger that melted in your mouth! and for the first time both my kids finished their plate! (mini chocolate chip pancakes, and the other got eggs, toast and bacon)....I have been to other Bob Evans, but this one Really stands out. They really made us feel like family! If there are more than 8 cars in the parking lot expect a minimum 30 min ticket time, plus an additional 10-15 min to have your order taken. Food is good but considering the amount of time it takes to get a meal, the convenience of eatting out is diminished. This place seems constantly understaffed and the workers are working fast but inefficiently, achieving little with many steps. This would be a 1 star but the servers are always pleasant and upbeat even when they are under stress. read more
