Have been going here for years as a farewell breakfast when visiting family in the area. The quality was hit or miss for years but it's taken a turn for the worse. We had breakfast on Saturday. The food was horrible. My sausage patties were charred and cold. The french toast was passable, the scrambled eggs were barely warm. My wife had an omelette, more like uncooked veggies and shredded cheese inside folded over eggs. Nothing was hot and cheese was not melted. The other couple commented that the fruit cup was the only item that was good. Service was OK, but have to question why the food was barely warm when served. read more

The Bob Evans of today is not the quality of 10-15 years ago. We still go occasionally hoping for better, but they keep getting worse. This location was the worst, not clean with an old smell of dirty carpet. The food doesn't match the menu. Burnt onion rings, small fish fillets, sour coleslaw, very old lettuce on BLT, wasn't edible. Now the worst offense, the once great Bob Evans sausage chili is now diluted soup with minimal sausage. The rolls were delicious. 2 paper towel dispensers in bathroom, both empty. To keep the doors open, return quality of yesterday. Bob would be disappointed with current standards. read more

Our 2nd try here was marred by covid obviously One waitress, about 25 patrons. She was trying but she was being overran. Manager no where to be seen. We were sat at a table with a sign that said do not use due to social distancing. It was vbeing ignored and everyone was grouped. We left after thanking the waitress. My boyfriend is from out of town and this was his favorite place to eat every time he came to visit me. For 1, the waitress which never introduced herself and made us felt really rushed when clearly there was no reason to. For 2 it took her awhile to even came back and when she did she gave us our food and it was Super dry Burnt oily and cold, lol make that make sense. You know what? Just don't come here. There are so many better options - fast food, other sit down restaurants...pick something else. Anything else. We ate here again today, and service hasn't improved much. No drink refills without asking specifically for one (I had an empty glass, but another member of my party asked for a refill, so they brought one for her but not for me), a management staff that's busier holding up counters and shooting the bull rather than helping out an obviously overworked wait staff, and get this - the wait staff are also the only bussers. This means they get paid the same as waitresses but are expected to do the job of two people. This is the reason tables are dirty until a patron shows up - today, the lady who sat us grabbed some napkins to wipe down our dirty table. That's a poor management choice in my opinion, and had led to the decline in service I've experienced. So just avoid the whole negative experience and go basically anywhere else. But if you absolutely MUST eat here (and I don't know why you would) tip your server who is doing double duty and obviously not getting support from management or the company. read more

However, I think Cracker Barrel, Waffle House, and IHOP has them beat even at that. Service: Very inconsistent. Not generally rude, but I've seen them SEVERELY short-handed, and I've also seen some just loafing around, clearly not caring. Price: To be expected Atmosphere: Probably the best part I suppose. Plenty of booths, which I prefer. Pretty comfortable. There are better options for pretty much anything, so I don't PLAN on coming here again unless I'm outvoted. If I could think of a situation where this would be the preference.......maybe a Saturday morning breakfast when you don't want to go anywhere outside Teays Valley. Had to have been the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. The waitress kept telling us she was new and not familiar with things. I got the wrong order while my friends got their meals and I had to wait so long they finished their meals and I asked to have my order cancelled. The waitress came back and said they were putting the finishing touches on my meal which confused me even more. I asked the manager about the situation, while he took my meal off of the check, he didn't offer to comp anything. The other manager told me that she couldn't make everyone happy. It's Bob Evans. Quality is good ish. Service is dependent upon who you get. Portions are relatively small and generally over priced. This location has always been clean which is a huge plus. This location can get log jammed quickly with only foyer/waiting seating for 12. Nice low walk up bar seating 8. Worst service ever !!! On way to family funeral...stop for brunch...wife and I ordered. Should be no problems right? First, after 7 minutes, Heather comes back and says they 'cannot find the fish" for fish and chips...I ordered something else...5 minutes later, manager come over and says, "we found the fish do I still want it..." Yes. 10 minutes later, we get our food...BUT...they are suddenly out of the candied bacon...Heather says it is not their fault!?! 5 minutes later, another manager comes back with ...you guessed it... Our food was the complete wrong order, inaccurately made when we did get the right food, eggs burnt, coffee was cold, pancakes had no butter, home fries had no seasoning and were basically grease balls, no Dr Pepper or Pibb, bananas were old, blueberries were nonexistent (gave us chocolate syrup instead of fresh blueberries, makes sense), bacon undercooked, no garnishments as shown in the menu such as green onions on Benedict, I could go on forever. Our server was lazy and only visited our table 3 times total (even with all these issues). We actually never saw her again after we had to go to the manager for our ticket. The restaurant was dirty, the staff was incompetent including the manager. We have gone to various BE locations across the US and this should be shut down. What a disgrace. If I could give 0 stars I would. The manager wound up taking $20 off our $60 bill, but the meal should've been comp'd completely. Really bad experience. We were visiting my family and staying in a hotel nearby this Bob Evans. I was very excited to eat there, we don't have one in my hometown and it had been awhile. Where to begin....our coffee was cold and was never offered any more. I never got my sausage. My eggs were way over cooked. The home fries had no seasoning. One of my favorite places to dine when I am in the valley!! Food is always outstanding and service exceeds the food. I noticed the last time I was dining there that it is under all new management which is a breath of fresh air !! They have taken something that was already wonderful and made it EXCELLENT !!! I keep giving this place a chance, but I'm consistently disappointed. Even the carry out sucks, every single time I have to wait no matter how long in advance, we have to wait. The last time I place my order at 5pm for a 7:15 pick up, and still had to wait 30 minutes. We ate in the restaurant on new years day, our waitress, although nice and attentove, was filthy her apron was filthy and so were her clothes, made me sick before I even got my food. Pick up order. I arrived at the time stated when I placed my order. I stood at the pick-up counter without acknowledgement for several minutes. The manager did some arranging under the counter in front of me, but never met my eye or otherwise recognize me. She certainly did not offer to help or get help for me. There was one cashier ringing out customers and answering the phone. As more people began to line up to check out, the manager did open a second register and begin ringing them up. About that time one waitress reached for something under the counter in front of me and said someone would be with me soon. The three people lined up at the other registers were rung up, and the manager was turning away when I moved in front of her. She rang me up then. Now, all this time my order was sitting, bagged up and ready, on the counter. I was not surprised that my dinner was cold. And guess what happened to the ice cream with my husband's pie? Yep, it was on the pie, sitting on the counter the whole time. And of course, it melted. Soggy double crust apple pie. My pie, which requires refrigeration, was also melted. We came to support a school fund raiser. As a party of 6 it took a long time to be seated. About 6 groups of 4 or less were seated while we waited. It took about 10 minutes to get drinks. My father in law ordered meatloaf which they were out of. It took an extremely long time to get food. When the food came we had several missing items. I upgraded to a 3 course meal and the soup was never brought, my wife did not get her salad and my son did not get the side of parm cheese he requested with his speg. I have lived in the area nearly all my life. At Bob Evans you could depend on good service, good food, and a clean environment. This has not been the case the last 3-4 years. I ate in the restaurant this week and got soup to go today. Both were poor. Tonight the chili was like water with little in it, they are frequently without food items in the middle of the day, the quality and taste of the food has declined as well. Go back to your old recipes. Stock your store. Hire management that has their staff moving and will jump in and help as well. Such a great location, and was such a great restaurant.
