FOOD: We had come here at around 2:00 pm on a Thursday afternoon as we were driving on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, and wanted to stop for some lunch. I had settled on the Turkey Breast With Mashed Potatoes, Stuffing, & Baby Carrots ($10.99), along with the Lemon Loaf for dessert. My husband had decided on the Sirloin With Mushrooms & Onions, Baked Potato, & Broccoli ($11.99), with the Banana Loaf as his dessert. This was our first time at a Bob Evans location therefore, we were surprised at how extensive the menu was, definitely making it hard to choose one dish! In terms of my meal, I really loved the turkey; it was very soft, and easy to bite into, along with being moist and juicy. The gravy added a great layer of taste to the turkey, giving it that extra flavour that made it taste absolutely divine! The stuffing was situated underneath the turkey breast slices, and was a generous helping, along with the mashed potatoes, which had gravy drizzled on top of them, tasting fabulous. The cranberry relish that came as a side was to die for, I have never tasted a sauce as good, just amazing; I wanted to eat more of it! The baby carrots were a good amount, as they were warm and soft, layered with melted butter, tasting sweet and luscious! I had decided to take my lemon loaf home, as I was much too stuffed to finish it! I did like how I was given a small dish of butter to use to spread on the lemon loaf, something that you don't see often at restaurants. Overall, I really impressed with how much food we were given for each of our dishes, and how delicious it all tasted. Not one thing didn't taste good; it tasted as though a lot of hard work and love was put into making the meal taste as good as it did. I was definitely impressed with the food, and would certainly want to try more options on the menu! ATMOSPHERE: This restaurant was situated in a small town off of the Pennsylvania Turnpike therefore, there weren't too many individuals dining there when we had entered. The restaurant was quiet, and there was a lovely booth that we were seated in, with comfortable cushions. The temperature of the restaurant was perfect, and everything was very clean, along with inviting. I loved how they sold hats, t-shirts, and food items at the front related to Bob Evans; definitely a great thing to have as a souvenir! This restaurant felt like a family-run business, something that I love to support. SERVICE: When we had walked into the restaurant, we were greeted by a kind, older woman, who brought us to our booth. She then handed us our menus, and told us that our server will be by shortly to take our orders. Once our server arrived, we had placed our orders, and was given our food quite quickly. Our server was kind throughout all of our interactions with her, and even came over to see how we were doing as we were eating. Definitely great customer service all-around! 10/9 the food was sub par with no flavor , the staff stood around and talked more to each other than customers the cook was in no hurry to get any food out but 3 of waitstaff was in one section paying attention to a party than any other customer in there . Stopped at the Ohio farm Bob Evans traveling back from Virginia and it was excellent. Made the mistake of stopping at the one in New Stanton, PA and it was gross. Eggs were fake and my wife could not eat them. Mac n cheese with my dinner tasted stale. Very disappointing dinner after 8 hours of driving. Never again. Btw, ketchup and mustard packets were less than a teaspoon each and mustard came out black. Stay away! read more

Wife and I went to Bob Evans in New Stanton Friday evening for dinner. I ordered the Steakhouse burger and she, the cobb salad. First off the menu description for mine included " real provolone cheese " as a topping.... Hmmm, real? What you are not telling us, is troubling. Are you saying that other items have artificial items? Sounds like it. Well, I asked the waitress about the "real" in the description and she had zero clue. First time to eat at Bob Evans. Service was par excellent. Food tasted average, while serving portion is good for two. I didn't like the Herb chicken because the color of the roast looks pale, while in the menu looks reddish/charred. My side of diced potatoes was salty. The turkey breast tasted chewy and dry. I was looking at their kitchen staff and I conclude that they need to cook better, or the customer will go home disappointed. Price is reasonable. After eating, they give you a receipt. You may pay to the cashier as you leave the restaurant. Dining area looks spacious. They have booth tables with very comfy seats. Restrooms are clean. Lots of parking space. Location is a bit uphill. You could see the view of surrounding establishments. Will definitely try the chicken tenders next time. Ordered a dinner entree. Fairly easy (if not straight forward) access to and from the highway, This particular location is usually pretty busy and the service is typically pretty good. Ok so they get 4 stars because this is the first place that I've been too in a while that actually did a good job. It was fast and the coffee kept coming. The service was really good and the food was prepared well. The eggs were the most perfectly poached I've had at a restaurant in maybe ever! I don't typically review chains but when one actually does a good job like this I figured I ought to. I've been coming to this particular Bob Evans literally since I was born, just hangin at Bobs for breakfast in a car seat ! I'm sad to say I've become VERY disappointed with not only the product, but the management- or lack there of. Bob Evans are a whole WAS wonderful, now, the food is eh and for the price they charge you can eat like a king at Cracker Barrel right down the road. Judi, the "assistant manager" I assume needs a vacation, or maybe just a change in career because she acted checked out as she spoke no works to me other then "your change is $9.34" after ringing my check up. On the other hand- and the only reason this is even 3 stars is because long time servers like Beth are even still working here. Used to come here a lot more when I lived closer, but my last visit left something to be desired. Pros: Food is pretty consistent and not bad for the price. Although I didn't have it this time, their breakfast is yummy! Restaurant and bathrooms were clean. Cons: Although we were seated quickly, it took our waitress several minutes to come over and get our drink order. Then, several minutes to get our drinks. Even longer for her to take our order. Our meals were served - I got a turkey bacon melt with fries and mac n cheese. My husband got a burger with fries and mac n cheese. The fries were over cooked, too crunchy. My husband asked for no tomato and, of course, it had two big tomatoes on the burger. Okay, no biggie, just take them off. The waitress did notice that they were on the side of the plate and did ask "Did they put tomatoes on anyways?" Umm yeah. But she didn't apologize, but sort of laughed it off. Toppings on a sandwich are no biggie if you can just pick them off, but an "sorry bout that" would have been nice. Do I have to give any stars at all? We were staying at the Comfort Inn next door while visiting family and, although the hotel serves a continental breakfast in the lobby, decided to go next door for a hot breakfast. We're thinking a big plate of eggs, bacon and a side of buttery toast. So when we see an item on the Bob Evans menu called "The Everything Breakfast" which promises scrabbled eggs, bacon, ham, sausage and hash browns we figure we won the jackpot. What arrives at the table literally a few minutes later is obviously a microwaved bowl of chopped meats, half cooked shredded potatoes, still cold shredded cheese and a thimble full of eggs. It was disgusting and Bob Evans should be ashamed of himself. And all for only 9.99. The worst breakfast I ever ate. And considering my advanced age, that's saying a lot. read more

This is the Best and Nicest place to eat breakfast around!! I am not from this area but the wait staff really do make you feel like friend and family! The manager and hostess welcomes you in the morning with a big genuine smile and it continues all the way to the wait staff!! The cooks are on point as well!! Menu is wide spread and changes quite often and the food is good quality and comes out just like you would expect it to look from the menu picture, always hot fresh, and very quick!!! We came here today for a small get-together with about 8 coworkers. Our waitress was very pleasant and efficient with our large group. I got a western omelette with hash browns, and an order of biscuits and gravy. The biscuits w/ gravy and omelette were very good- however, the hash browns seem to have a strange taste to them; I can't put my finger on it. And it's not just at this location, either....it's all Bob Evans. Overall, everyone was very satisfied with their meals and we had no other complaints. read more

Had dinner with my spouse and four young daughters. The decor is all new and very well done. The menu is standard fair but fresh and flexible to sensitive tastes. The service (our server was a real pro named Manny) was first rate and made the meal. Bob Evans is family dining. They are great at it and striving to improve with each step. Totally irritated After driving for a few hours to meet up with my in-laws so they can see the grand kids and my wife, etc. We decided to stop at Bob Evans because from all our past experiences we have really enjoyed this place. Well not this time so let me explain. First, the waitress was not friendly. She would place our food, drink, etc. down with an attitude. I don't know if she was just having a bad day or what, but not cool at all. It wasn't me that just noticed that but everyone at the table. Second, the waitress didn't get my order right, but I didn't want to say anything after having waited a long time for our order. Third, she seemed irritated if we asked for something, etc. Fourth, the portion sizes were not as big as they use to be. Totally irritated and disappointed with this place. I've never seen a poorer looking example of a club sandwich. I realize they don't follow the normal practice of quartering the sandwich, but this looked like it was literally thrown on the plate. The bread wasn't even aligned. We had one item wrong and another missing altogether. Service was inattentive and slow, despite the restaurant being nearly empty. A good server would also never put someone hobbling with a cane at the back of the restaurant when there were open tables near the entrance. I recently stopped in for breakfast at this popular chain eatery. The food was functional, but not as good as I remember it being as a kid. I opted for the Farmer's Choice breakfast where I chose two hotcakes, two scrambled eggs, Bob Evans brand sausage links, and home fries. The hotcakes were not fluffy, and the scrambled eggs were offputting having been served as a single clump of egg. The only memorable component of the dish was the sausage links which were decidedly flavorful and of generally good quality. Service was gruff, and I witnessed my waitress spilling a dish over the table across from me. The mess was dealt with unceremoniously with no effort to make amends. The older couple paid full price for their meal and left a little bit bitter for the experience after complaining to the manager. Really much better breakfast fare with excellent service can be had at competitive prices; I see little reason to stop in here unless you just really want their trademarked sausage. read more

This is my second review for Bob Evans. Not much improvement in the last three months. The service was very slow. We were there for breakfast, and waited twenty minutes before they took our order. Neither my wife or I received what we ordered, the wait staff was not familiar with the menu. Good points: We had a large group and they accommodated us quickly. The place was reasonable clean, although the child's highchair could have been cleaner. They did get the two yearold child something to eat fairly quickly. The food was better than average, not good or great. They divided the checks without ordeal and there no compulsory tipping (the reason for three stars). Bad points: Poor service and very slow. Our server seemed to care, but needed a lot more training. And I think the kitchen was not helping manners. Additionally the cream was brought in these stupid mini-bowls that slopped and spilled all over everything. Food was cold. read more
