I guess they rather lose money coming out on a trip than to wait a few minutes while their customer is figuring out the payment issue, which the driver said he was having trouble with processing. While the driver was timely, he was rude, and I told him to ultimately drop the car and would be requesting a different tow truck. I needed a tow on a flatbed. I called AAA. They sent a kid...who kept doing things he wasn't sure of, thus taking chances with damaging my car. And when I asked him NOT to do that...on multiple occasions, he kept telling me to calm down, which made me even more anxious. He even asked me & passers by to push my car toward his truck, which wasn't close. I kept wondering what if I was a pregnant or weak person? How would this company do their task? I know good help is hard to find...so I called & left a message for the owner/manager to call me, so he knows what happens in the field...he never even responded. This is the 2nd time they've sent a disrespectful person in an already unenjoyable situation. Next time I'll ask to be served by another company...even if it takes longer. read more

Holzer is the AAA provider for Arroyo Burro County Beach where my Tesla was disabled 6:30pm on 9/3. I called Tesla Roadside before AAA to get instruction. Every time I called AAA (10x by 11pm) I waited for a live person so I could instruct that we get a driver familiar with Tesla, which should be everybody in a town like Santa Barbara. But no, the Holzer driver Mike who showed up at 7:15 knew nothing about Teslas and left. I asked him to call his superior who said I had to call AAA again. I got the conflicting info from Holzer and Tesla but by 8:30 determined that the car had to be towed to the service center 3.1 miles away. I called AAA as I was going to the beach restaurant that would be closing soon. AAA said someone would be out in an hour. The driver Roberto called at 9pm just as my dinner was being served, said he would be there in 15 minutes. He agreed to call me back if I was not at the car so I could come out from the restaurant less than 50 yards away. I got out at 9:20, waited then called Roberto, which of course went to voicemail. Then I called Holzer, got an operator, who called Holzer's dispatcher who passed on the message that the driver had come and gone and that of course I would have to call AAA again to get someone to come out. I asked to speak to the dispatcher directly. He refused and by now it was 10pm so I gave the operator a piece of my mind. I called AAA again, didn't get a progress text back so called again 10:20 and was informed that Holzer declined the tow so they were looking for another company. AAA didn't tell me who was coming until 11pm even though it turned out to be Santa Barbara Towing. Victor of Santa Barbara Towing arrived 11:30pm and the beach lot gate was locked. Victor drove me to the hotel I had reserved when I knew I would be there overnight and said he would pick me up 9am to go get the car. At 9:15 I texted Victor and he responded immediately that another driver had been assigned and that I would need to take an Uber to the beach. Nonetheless we had a couple more text exchanges and Victor drove separately to Arroyo Burro and helped load the Tesla on the flatbed. So it is possible for towing employees to provide good service and be responsive to unusual and challenging situations. Unfortunately that is not the culture at Bob Holzer towing. They never would talk to be directly but inflicted several delays by making me call AAA repeatedly. read more

IF I COULD GIVE A NEGATIVE STAR, I WOULD! I was driving my ELECTRIC CAR home from an unexpected detour with a LOW battery, and I ran out of range two miles from home. AAA sent my roadside assistance call to this company and I called them directly and spoke personally to a dispatcher there at the towing company. I explained FOUR TIMES that this was NOT a jump-start situation, but that I needed to get a quick battery boost for my ELECTRIC CAR, to make it just two miles home. I was then referred to a gentleman there, and I explained AGAIN that this was a BATTERY POWERED CAR, NOT a jump start and I asked him if they had vehicle battery charge equipment for an electric car. He said YES. Great! Such a relief on this cold rainy stormy night. Mike showed up, a very nice young guy, and he carried the battery booster device to my car, only to see that it was AN ELECTRIC CAR! FAIL! After my determined efforts to make clear that this was an ELECTRIC CAR, they sent a jump-starter. This is unspeakably lame for a car service company. I hope your luck is better, and I hope they learn how to listen to customers a little better. read more

Drivers were very friendly at a very stressful time as all accidents are . The experience after that was absolutely terrible and would strongly encourage women in particular to be aware . My car was held there as it was transferred by my aaa roadside as the insurance adjustors battled out who was going to pay ( A DUI hit and run whilst car was parked outside our home ) ! The mounting costs and threating to auction my car lent an almost unbearable amount of stress to an already unjust situation. Thankfully after repeated and confusiing emails and phone calls my less than satisfactory Auto insurance had it returned to me. One of your tow drivers was jumping someone at my apartment complex in Goleta tonight. There is only one, one-way entrance into the entire complex and the serviceman was jumping someone almost directly at the front of the entrance. Blocking everyone from entering. There was a line behind me and I got out of my car and politely asked if there was any way he could pull off onto the service road directly next to his vehicle so people could pass (his vehicle was not being used to jump the other), to which he responded, "It's a commercial vehicle so I can park wherever I want." Not only is that statement false, but one totally uncalled for. Hopefully you can use this review as a way to weed bad apples from your company and help preserve any positive reputation you may have in the community. Bob Holzer's towing was called (via AAA) to pick up our broken-down car from the dealership to a more honest - and reasonably priced - mechanic, never mind that I couldn't be there to supervise! They were great. The driver was in regular communication with me, as well as the dealership and the mechanic, so everybody knew who was coming and when, who needed to release the car, etc. It was such a relief to us that the towing company could make the relocation of the car work, and with such a good attitude towards the customer! I broke down tonight around 1930hrs in Carp and was in need of a tow to Ojai. I called AAA and they said a driver from Bob Holzer was on the way. After an hour or so, I called your dispatch, in which the lady informed me that you guys declined the tow. I called AAA and they said they would inform me once they found another company willing to tow my vehicle. I'm home now (thanks to Uber), it's 2330hrs. AAA just now called, I did not answer. My truck is still up in Carp. I will rent a car tomorrow, get the part I need to fix it, and get on with it. My elderly parents were stuck at Trader Joe's with car not starting. I had no jumper cables so we called AAA who said they would request a quick response on behalf of my parents. I was all set to head out to Costco when lo & behold, my car wouldn't start. After having AAA send out a tow truck I am surprised and pleased to see the driver pull up to my place ten minutes ahead of schedule! He checks my battery and sure enough, it needs to be replaced. By this time Costco had just closed so I couldn't run out to get a new one there. I asked Lupe (the tow truck driver), the cost. He then asks me when I purchased my last battery and to check the receipt to see if I have any warranty left. Sure enough I did! Lupe went the extra mile saving me money while DOING THE RIGHT THING by being completely ethical. If anyone knows mechanics, sometimes that's not always the case. There have been a couple instances where they won't hesitate to save you a buck even if it doesn't do anything for them. I lost a car key recently and they towed my car to my house and were very careful with the car and got me home safely. The tow truck technician Miguel towed me to get the key programmed and he was very helpful, informed and gave me some really good car advice that didn't have to do with my tow. He saved me time and money by being helpful and effective. These gentlemen always give me a reason to trust them and have always made sure me and the car are safe.
