I think this is insane coming from a shop that boasts about their commitment to premium teas. My daughter and I stopped by Boba Baba after grocery shopping at nearby Publix. My daughter loves boba tea, but I am not a fan. There was no wait and service was quick. After checking out the menu, I decided to order a strawberry matcha iced latte (substituting in almond milk rather than regular milk) and I am SO GLAD I did! It was DELICIOUS! I have had matcha latte at Starbucks and disliked it big time. Boba Baba's strawberry matcha now sets my standard for matcha drinks. I drink matcha at home sometimes, so now I will be trying to figure out how to add strawberries! LOL. I'm watching my sugar intake right now, but I am dying to know how the burnt cheesecake tastes?!? Also, I'd love to try some of the loose tea next visit too. I was in a bit of a rush this time, but next visit I could see myself working at one of the tables or couches while enjoying my latte. The place isn't loud so it would be a good place to work silently while enjoying a beverage. On the other hand, my boba-loving middle schooler had a few complaints. She disliked the strawberry rice milk with boba and also complained that this establishment didn't have brown sugar boba or strawberry banana boba. I really enjoyed Boba Baba! I saw all the raving reviews on Yelp and decided we better try it out. My husband and I went on a Sunday afternoon and it was a popular place. I got the strawberry matcha latte and a matcha Oreo mochi donut. Hubs got the lychee oolong tea and a blueberry puff pastry. My strawberry matcha latte was so delicious!! I asked about typical sweetness and the friendly employees said the strawberry already has some sweetness, which was the perfect amount. I love matcha flavor and this drink was perfection! The matcha Oreo donut was wonderful. The donut itself is kind of like a funnel cake and the matcha frosting is amazing. We were not a fan of the lychee tea, but I think it just needs a lot more sugar than we had. The blueberry puff pastry was fantastic, soft, and sweet. I heard so much about this place for boba and cream puffs, and was eager to pay it a visit. Unfortunately, I don't think I ordered well and will have to return to give it one more try given the other positive reviews. I ordered the coconut oolong. It sounded interesting. My thought was it'd be oolong tea with a splash of coconut milk. The drink looks and tastes like 95% coconut milk with maybe a splash of tea instead. I got it 50% sweet, but it tasted very sweet. I thought maybe I picked up the wrong order, but I verified with the baristas that I received the correct drink. I would not recommend the coconut oolong, unless you're wanting to just drink coconut milk. Thankfully, the bubbles were very enjoyable with the right taste and consistency. I also tried the hojicha cream puff, which I believe was $5. It's a nice size with plenty of cream filling. Understandably because it's been sitting in the case, the shell was a bit stale. They also sell Mochi donuts for $3. The space has a cute sofa where you can lounge, but most seating are standard tables. The space has a minimalist feel. After having a newborn, ventured to boba baba for the first time to get our favorite drink. Unfortunately, made without sugar though this was requested. This is after already waiting 15+ min. This is understandable on a busy day; however, when my husband brought this mistake to their attention there was no effort made to make a new drink or fix it. He was given syrup and told to mix it himself without any further utensils. Generally saddened by this treatment as this had been a favorite place for a while. This is one of my two favorite boba places in NC. While my heart belongs to Chicha (in SoCal), Boba Baba does a good job of satisfying my cravings for well-made drinks on the east coast. The shop is super cute, decorated with lots of Supreme and off-white (might be knock-offs but regardless its a familiar slice of ABG culture in NC). Their menu is not super extensive and I appreciate the focus on the tea itself. They have cream puffs on weekdays and mochi doughnuts on the weekends. Both are super tasty! I've tried several drinks off the menu, including the strawberry matcha, oolong milk tea, and hojicha latte. I especially enjoyed the hojicha latte. I got it with oat milk and it tasted a bit like injeolmi (Korean grain powder) mixed with matcha to me. In general, their drinks stay true to the flavor of the tea, though they are a bit light on tea and heavy on the sweetness. Each drink on their menu lists the tea type and where it's from, which I appreciate. I typically get 50% sugar but even that is a bit too sweet for me here. As I lowered the sugar amount, I found that the drink flavors weaken as well, and I wish that the tea flavor could be stronger. I do appreciate that oat milk doesn't cost extra! Overall, Boba Baba doesn't inspire the same fervor in me that some of my top boba places do, but I have a soft spot for them nonetheless. I appreciate the decently-executed (and still tasty) drinks as well as their Asian-inspired pastries. They offer online ordering through their website, which I recommend. Boba Baba makes some delicious teas and drinks which come in varying levels of sugar and ice. The lychee is superb! They also have an in-house bakery that boasts outstanding boba donuts. I swear by these donuts that no other donut will ever compare! They come in unique flavors from passion fruit/berry/cinnamon/cheerios/orange, etc. The dark Cherry and passion fruit have been my fav ones. Absolutely LOVE this place!!!! You really can't sleep on the mochi donuts and well I don't think anyone does anyway because the line is alwaaaaays long on the weekend. Good thing is they have a very efficient system so you won't wait that long even if the line seems like it wraps around fOrEvEr. Bubble tea is very unique here in the best way. I love the mango and strawberry milk teas because they are just enough of the fruit flavor but well balanced with the smooth "milkyness." I'd say the drinks that I've gotten from here are average, so not too impressive for the price, but I'd come back to try others. First boba since returned from Asia a month ago. I'm a bit of a boba snob, so was skeptical. Store was huge and clean. Prices were decent. Wife ordered regular milk tea with boba at 75% sweet and I got the Hong Kong milk tea with boba at 100% sweet. The tea tasted great, the boba balls were a little sweet and sticky but still good. I like that they don't use non-dairy creamers and opt for brand name Califa Almond Milk & oat milk. Not sure when I'll come back, I bought two drinks to try. - Hojicha latte: this is the drink I make on the daily at home. I adore the roasted green tea flavor and I feel it pairs best with oat milk. This drink reminds me of home. - Black Sesame latte: I'm a fan of anything black sesame, so naturally this drink caught my eye. I'd pass on this next time though. I ordered 50% sweetness and still felt it was a little too sweet for my taste (options are 100% or 50% sweetness). No substitutions for non-dairy options because the black sesame paste is pre-made with creamer and milk. The black sesame was gritty and sometimes tickled my throat. It was extremely difficult to order because between the loud music and COVID plastic divider protector, both the attendant and I couldn't hear each other clearly. There was plenty of miscommunication and back and forth repeating. I was disappointed that I came on a Monday because it's the only day of the week pastries aren't sold. If I were to come back, I'd definitely come Tues-Sunday to try their cream puffs or mochi donuts. Overall, a cute & comfy boba cafe. The butterfly fresca drink was refreshing on a hot day. They were able to make it less sweet for me by putting more tea in the drink. When the drink was done, they offered to adjust the sweetness If it wasn't too my liking. Even though I got the small size with addition of boba (16oz for $5), they hooked it up with plenty of boba. The boba was cooked well, soft and chewy. I also tried one of their cream puffs with an Ube cream filling. There were only two flavors available and the other flavor was an oolong milk tea, I think. It's amazing how much cream they are able to pump into that little pastry. It wasn't my favorite dessert but it was good for what it was. It had a nice crunchy sweet top and the ube cream filling was cold and lightly sweet. It's a shame that the mochi donuts are not offered on weekdays, only on the weekends. When I heard that this Bubble Tea/Dessert haven in Cary, NC was going to have in stock my fave 2 flavors in Mochi Donuts over the weekend, I took a near 3-hour cruise to get my fix! Love the interior of the place, it was the first thing I noticed stepping into it. Like most bubble tea places, it suits the aesthetics of a modern bubble tea place with plenty of places to sit and also take cute instagram picture worthy shots! They also had plenty of spots for people to relax and sit down at. Would be a good study spot. They also had samples out for their teas. Service was also pretty quick as I waited in line while they did a lunar new year promotion. Staff was friendly and handled the long line well :) The mochi donuts had a wonderful texture! The tea is great and having samples of the tea they sell almost had me buying some loose leaf as well. I love the ambiance of this place. Great seating and location. I'm a regular at the Charlotte location for Boba Baba so I expected about the same when I came here...I was pleasantly surprised at the size and aesthetic of this place!
