I think the boba is pretty overpriced for being on par or average with other boba places quality wise (it was like $7). The actual bird boss boba drink was like a regular brown sugar boba drink, and the boba itself was not super soft like some other places I've been to - it was kind of average in terms of softness and chewiness. We went around 9 pm, and it was pretty empty inside except for one other table of people, and there was a self-ordering screen, so there wasn't much service, but the drink was made in like 2-3 minutes. The ambiance is kind of quirky with the bird theme and the bright colors, and it's like one of the only boba places in Pearland that's open past 9 pm. Trust me, there smoothies SLAPS! Opens late, fast, and friendly. Their drinks never disappoints! I go here at least once a week when I'm having late night cravings. Boba Bird was a stop during a recent trip to Houston as I wanted to get a drink while near the Hobby Airport. This Asian-owned business showed up as a hot and new listing in the South Belt/Ellington neighborhood. The worker said they had been open for about two months. Besides the cartoon bird theme, the inside had a lot of orange coloring including all of the metal chairs. I was the sole customer around lunchtime because the inclement weather had minimized the traffic in the area. A self-serve kiosk was available to place an order online in case there was a wait at the service counter. Seven signature drinks were featured on the menu. Smoothies, coffee, and fresh juice were the categories along with fruit teas and milk teas. Tenders and fries were sold as baskets which is not common at the boba tea shops in my hometown. The tea prices at $5 or less were great for the serving size. I chose a Citrus Fruit Tea from the signature list and a Passionfruit Tea from the regular selections. Both were modified with less ice while boba pearls were added to the latter tea. Pineapple, strawberries, and mango were the fruits in the first drink. The sweetness was fine at the 100% sugar level, however the pearls weren't cooked long enough as the boba was chewier than I liked. We visited Boba Bird the weekend of its Grand Opening, and it was busy with excitement! There were two ways to order upon entering - one could either use the electronic kiosk (self-service) or you could wait in line to be assisted by a server. We chose to order at the kiosk to skip the long line. There was quite a wait, but considering it was the Grand Opening, this was to be expected. Plus, Boba Bird had a Photo Booth to entertain you while you waited! They also had free Boba Bird stickers. We ordered the Four Banger - 4 chicken tenders, fries, toast, pickles and BB sauce for $14. The breaded chicken tenders were very juicy and the seasoned fries crispy. The chicken tenders were very reminiscent of Raising Canes (in quality and taste). I also ordered the Boba Bird signature strawberry mint lemonade drink. It was very refreshing and no one flavor overpowered the others. A great combination of flavors! First time here and I decided to try out their bird boss milk tea (one of the signature drinks). It came with cheese foam, brown sugar, and boba. The drink tasted very good, not too sweet not too bland. The only thing I didn't like was the boba, it was chewy but it had no taste to it. The ambiance looked nice and was very well decorated. It's great to add a good boba shop to the area! We came after the grand opening rush and overall pleasantly pleased with the shop. It has both options to order at the counter as well as by the kiosk. There are plenty of seatings inside, both to study or catch up with friends. Menu is well crafted with specialty drinks as well as light snacks. Every shop I get my staple, jasmine milk tea with a sinker and a specialty drink. Both did not disappoint. Would recommend going full sugar on the milk teas and lighter sweet level on the speciality drinks - if it's even a possibility (some won't). read more
