Updating my review after a recent experience. Got a strawberry matcha latte and it was just as good as the first time and the boba sample I tried wasn't as bad as I remembered from my first experience. I tried ordering a strawberry Ube matcha latte after getting it somewhere else, but they're super strict about making any sort of modifications. FYI in case you planned to modify a drink an any way. Despite that, they were super helpful and apologetic about being unable to add Ube to my drink, which I appreciated. Great quality drinks and great service. Parking can be a bit challenging since it's near downtown and limited to street parking. I sometimes have to circle the area for a while before finding a spot. Drinks are reasonably priced, typically ranging from about $6 to $8 depending on what you order and size. My favorites are the milk green tea and the milk black tea. They do offer boba, but when I ordered it, the portion was pretty small, just a thin layer at the bottom of the cup. I'll be honest and say I haven't frequented Historic Filipinotown in a few years but I was pleasantly surprised that I found boba just walking distance from one of my favorite places here.. It's so close to the Filipino town mural at the park. Great because you can pick up a drink and admire the mural and cultural history. Parking: parking generally sucks in this area to be honest. Watch for street signs and expect a walk unless you can snag street parking right up front. Expect to walk but that's all of LA City area so that shouldn't be a surprise really. Decent amount of seating for smaller groups! I really liked the Hojicha latte. It was really smooth and had a strong Hojicha flavor! I would recommend Boba guys although when my friend asked for a small modification for her drink, the cashier did give her quite a hard time. She asked ahead of time if it was something they could do and initially they said yes but after she ordered they kind of lectured her when all she asked was to add Ube to the drink. I think in the future if you don't want to make modifications just say no and leave it at that. read more

Boba Guys is a cute corner small bubble tea shop in Los Angeles. It's located in the corner of Beverly blvd and S. Union ave in the historic Filipino-town neighborhood. It's interior layout and design were spacious and modern. Menu list has modest selection of boba milk and teas with a couple of specialty and make your own drink. I arrived on an Easter weekend and was warmly greeted by a female staff. I ordered their Ube Milk Latte + boba. It was really good and refreshing; ube flavor was fantastic as well as its boba. FYI they don't offer appetizers such as popcorn chicken or calamari, however, they do have bag of chips. Prices were fair. Service was splendid. Staff were amiable and professional. The cashier was so nice I wish I got his name. He redirected us to the seasonal menu. They had some really unique drinks that sounded so good but I ended up ordering a simple oolong milk tea with oat milk and almond jelly. The tea quantity was so good and the oat milk didn't have that nasty after taste. They have a really good amount of almond jelly and also had some cook compostable straws! I live for the pandan caramel matcha. It's my favorite boba drink I've ever had. I feel like most milk teas can be recreated at home and they taste just as good as any boba spot, but this one just cannot be replicated (trust me, I've tried). The earthy notes of the matcha mixed with the sweet buttery pandan caramel really does something for me that no other drink can do. And it's a seasonal fall/winter drink so get it while you can. Honestly it's pricey, but it's worth it. I like that they use good quality ingredients here and you can taste it. I'll be honest, I don't stan the whole menu, I've had some hit or miss drinks here. I visited recently with coworkers. We all were in need of a break and something sweet. The menu was interesting to me and is what sets them apart because they offer drinks like banana milk, black sugar hojicha, and strawberry fresca. I actually had a hard time deciding what to get. I'm a sucker for hojicha so I ordered the black sugar hojicha with boba. It ended up being one of the best boba drinks I've had in awhile. It had a good hojicha flavor and wasn't too sweet. The boba was chewy and pretty good overall. Service was friendly and efficient. Prices are on par with boba drinks nowadays. Parking can be a challenge since it's on a busy street. I've heard about Boba Guys for so long that I guess the hype got to me and I was disappointed. They have such great drinks but the boba unfortunately sucks and they use an absurd amount of ice so you don't get the full amount of your cup size and drinks get watered down pretty quick. However, it's crazy that by the time I pay, my order is already ready at the end of the line. Maybe a sign of extremely efficient bobarista prowess but also maybe a sign of less fresh drinks. We had the Korean Banana Milk, Strawberry Rice Milk, and Thai Tea. Almond jelly was a new topping for me. Light and nutty, the jelly was really good and stood out in my experience. Korean Banana Milk - banana milk is so good and this drink was fantastically sweet and creamy. Almond jelly with this was a great combination. I would say this particular drink was worth. Strawberry Rice Milk - milk and strawberry puree together make a light strawberry milk that's nothing too crazy. I can get strawberry milk at most spots and have it similar, so I didn't think this one was anything special. Thai Tea - a classic Thai Tea, pretty refreshing. Fair drink. My bf wanted me to try this place out bc according to him, it's THE spot to grab boba at in NorCal. He said that up there, lines are hecka long but seems Boba Guys is not as popular in SoCal since the store was pretty much empty when we walked in. Now I believe NorCal people have pretty good working tastebuds because once I tried their jasmine milk tea I knew I would come back again to try all their other drinks. Solid boba with some unique and creative drinks! I had a bit if trouble finding the location, its tucked in to the Rideback Ranch building. I don't think they have designated parking so prepare to street park. You order and wait outside for your drink, there are some outdoor tables and chairs if you wanted to enjoy your drink there. Service was super quick and friendly. I got the strawberry matcha drink with boba and was pleasantly surprised to enjoy the flavor combination. The sugar levels can't be adjusted, only the amount of strawberry puree which is the source of sweetness (bummer). Although it was quite good, it wasn't anything too mind-blowing. I got the strawberry tea fresca, as I wanted something refreshing, and the rose black milk tea since I also wanted to try a milky drink. I liked both the drinks I tried. The strawberry green tea didn't taste syrupy, and the rose black milk tea wasn't a super strong flavor. Although the teas are great, I wasn't as fond of their boba. Maybe I have been living under a rock, but I did not know Boba Guys are in LA! After finding out, I had to fit in a visit to my favorite boba shop in Nor Cal in my quick LA getaway. This time, I was feeling adventurous and decided to try out their special "Pineapple Expresso w/ Boba" To start off, Boba Guys really love true to its name, the boba served always has the right amount of chewiness and the sweetness marinated to its core. The concept of Pineapple Expresso is definitely a bold one, though it may sound risky to some, the drink actually has a very interesting layers of flavors. The initial taste of filled with the fruity sweetness and the rich aroma of the pineapple; however, shortly after, you will be met with the bold bitterness of the expresso. If you are into coffee and tropical fruits like me, this drink is definitely worth a try. The only recommendation I have is to lower the sugar level to avoid the pineapple sweetness overpowering the expresso aroma. Though located in LA, parking was surprisingly easy to find. Didn't know that I could find Boba guys in Southern California, but I was in town for a work retreat, and we went out for an afternoon treat to this location. I almost always get the strawberry matcha, so I went with my regular order and substituted in some oat milk. It tasted good, but I feel like I've had better at other locations. I added aloe instead of Boba, and that was so nice with the fruity and nutty flavors. One of my colleagues got the strawberry rice milk drink, and I had a sip. I will definitely be ordering that one next time. Overall everyone enjoyed their drinks, and the staff was great. Boba Guys fell off. Ordered my usual strawberry tea fresca. I was curious about the new cloud topping, I asked the cashier about it, then I decided don't want it anymore and told the cashier nevermind, she said okay & I thought she took it off. My bf ordered their banana milk coffee like his usual along with my strawberry tea fresca, and a couple of our other friends ordered their drinks too. My order came out with the cloud topping even though I told cashier I don't want it. I looked at receipt and she charged us for it. Whatever, I tried to like it but after just a couple of sips the cloud topping did not overall go well with that particular drink. The cloud topping actually did not taste good in general. So I went up to the lady and asked nicely if they can please remake my drink without the cloud topping since I did not order cloud topping anyways and doesn't taste good. The lady rolled eyes at me, went to tablet, asked for my name, checked my receipt and said it wasn't a mistake. I had to explain to her the misunderstanding. It was not like I was asking for a refund for the cloud topping. And isn't the strawberry tea fresca pre-made already, what is so hard about taking back my old drink and just pouring a new (pre-made) one? We were the only customers in store at that time, so it wasn't busy/not holding up any line.
