Came here for a drink after eating lunch at the kbbq restaurant nearby. We ordered a super fruit tea and a cheezo grape. Service was really fast and we got the drinks less than 5 minutes after ordering. Unfortunately the cheezo grape was not what we were expecting. Tan-Cha is certainly unique in the foam that they put on top of their drinks. It's very thick and does add an extra flavor texture to the drink that I appreciated. But it definitely commands a premium price for that extra foam. The inside offers a little seating which is nice, and shares a bathroom with other restaurants. It's in the middle of K-Town so you know what you're getting yourself into. There's no parking anywhere so you'll have to walk here. We enjoyed it. I came here for a quick boba fix on my lunch break. There was only one employee working. The ambiance was bright and cozy. I ordered a Brown Sugar boba latte. I asked if they had any dairy alternatives, but unfortunately they only have whole milk. Although whole milk is not my preferred choice, I decided to order it anyway and give it a try. I wish Tan-Cha can add dairy alternatives such as Oat Milk or Almond Milk to their milk tea options. The boba was consistently chewy. However, the drink itself was okay. It had a few streaks of brown sugar, but the sweetness was not balanced with the milk tea itself. Towards the end and after mixing it, it felt like I was drinking milk with boba. I'm only open to try their other milk teas if they add dairy alternatives such as oat or almond milk. My mom is literally addicted to the roasted oolong tea with cheese foam (and she typically hates cheese foam so this was a surprising development), and their teas have such strong flavor no matter what sweetness level you choose! My favorites have been the Uji Matcha with Cheese Foam and Strawberry Green Tea so far, but all the drinks here have been so consistently good!!! This was my first time trying a "cheese foam" drink and I can see why it's appealing... However, it's not for me. I've seen at other boba shops that they recommend you drink it from the top of the cup instead of through a straw to get the full experience, but again - not for me because I don't like drinking liquids (aside from water) without a straw lol. The texture of the cheese foam was thicker and had a nice sweetness and a touch of saltiness to it. Definitely reminiscent of sea salt foam, but thicc! Phenomenal drinks, liquid wise, but overall experience was rocky. No boba an hour after opening among other missing ingredients. Ordered the brûlée milk tea with boba and they had no boba at the moment so they offered to let me substitute. I subbed for crystal boba (agar) and they charged me the extra 75 cents even though it was a substitution not an extra topping on top of the boba that would come with the drink. My drink was just under $7 before tip so that's pricey. Drinks were pretty dang good tea and cream wise but they had literally no inventory at noon? Boba was just being made and was expected to take another 40 minutes (they open at 11). At least 6 other customers came and left because they were out of boba, strawberry, mango, or other ingredients even though they opened an hour ago. Without being able to try the boba, my rating goes down because my intention in coming to boba shops is for the boba as a topping. This combined with the fact that it had already been an hour since opening and the boba was just being made was a red flag. Frothy Matcha Puer Tea - a strong matcha foam at top with tea at the bottom, even tasty when mixed but honestly fine drinking as is. Brûlée Milk Tea - super creamy smooth and delicious but at 50% sugar it was pretty sweet so I'd definitely recommend reducing from the standard 100%. Their cream puff foam on the sides and bottom really add a thicker, viscous layer that also enhances the drink overall. Experience was poor overall but the drinks were great. read more
