He was very apologetic for the wait, and we understood - he was putting all of his effort in to keep things moving as smoothly as possible. The experience working there was awful, as my…read morelast manager had us working hours that were past our normal time, as well as breaking the child labor laws. Most girls who I worked with were around the age of 14-15. In the shacks when I was working, it was so hot and nowhere near a good temperature to be working inside. A girl I knew actually had heatstroke from working all day in a hot shack. Our manager would not let her leave unless she got it covered or finished the shift. In order to work with food, you need to have a food handlers permit and most of these girls didn't even have one. Our manager didn't even care to have that a priority either. The shack is disgusting and at North Lehi and Main Street, as well as American Fork are growing mold and collecting dirt puddles of water without it being cleaned. In my experience working there, I constantly cleaned the floors to keep a clean environment in the shack and for everybody, however it would just get dirty again. Our manager would also make us go in two hours early before shifts to deep clean the shack. We are here to make snow cones, not deep clean a moldy shack. I understand it is also our responsibility to keep the shack cleanly, so I will admit to that. Our current manager/owner does not care about the cleanliness of the shack like our last manager kind of did. It is absolutely disgusting and unacceptable especially with the hours that we are having to work. In the syrup bottles, there are fruit flies inside and mold growing inside of them as well. Those same bottles are still being used to flavor the shaved ice. I have found various things inside the shack like mold, rat poop, and dead bugs, as well as ant colonies living inside of the shack. The manager/owner has also stated that we have to calculate our own checks, but when he does it is incorrect. I have no problem calculating my own checks, but he has gotten checks wrong. He also has taken money out of one of the workers accounts and acted as if he didn't do anything. Our last manager and him were dating for awhile and he and her would get into a lot of arguments at the time. There is video proof on the iPads that we use to charge customers about how he will abuse her. On the iPad, it was logged into our last managers Apple ID, and she would take videos and photos, as well as voice memos about her being domestically abused. I am fully aware this has nothing to do with me or the shack, yet there was video footage of him pushing a table inside of the shack and hitting her hand very aggressively and hard with the table. Again, I am fully aware that it has nothing to do with me whatsoever, but do you really want to be supporting and giving money to this abuser? That same manager would also write very disrespectful notes about people she was interviewing, as well as dehumanizing them. I know this because she had a note on the iPad that is connected to her Apple ID. This is disgusting and I hope every customer who comes here can notice and see that this place is terrible and a disgusting environment. If you are wanting a job, or someone you know is wanting a job, please don't work here, it's not worth the amount of time you're putting into, or the hardship of working. You are only getting paid a maximum of $7.25 an hour plus tips, but it's very unprofessional and just an awful experience.
