If you order with a person they have a free sample! I went ahead and order the brown sugar milk with boba. It was prepped very quickly, and the boba was well cooked, brown sugar flavor strong, and overall tasted great! I did get it with 75% sweet and this was ideal for me. Only very very slight negative is that this location is small with no real table seating, there's just some bar seating which luckily was available because most people were grabbing and going. Bobapop in Kentlands has a cute vibe, but it still feels like it's set up for the COVID era, which makes it less inviting than it could be. There was only one self-service kiosk and no one working the register, so ordering wasn't as convenient as I'd hoped, especially if you have questions or just prefer interacting with a person. That said, the staff was friendly when we did interact with them, and the drinks were really good. The quality definitely makes it worth a visit. If they brought back a more welcoming front counter experience, it would make the overall visit much better. I'd still come back for the boba, but I hope they make the ordering process a little more customer-friendly. read more

The price paid for the drink and the amount of sweating I did waiting for it made for a memorable visit all for the wrong reasons. The ordering process is easy. Just submit it via tablet and wait for what feels like forever. The drink itself was way too sweet and not drinkable for me even with reduced sugar. The paper straw made it taste disgusting. Packaging was cute but hardly any ice inside. The milk shouldn't have tasted so warm if it was kept in the fridge like it's supposed to. Maybe that's why I got GI problems later that day. I think this is a good spot for those who doesn't mind the heat and humidity + extremely inconvenient parking situation. There can be street parking available but rarely near the shop itself. One of the best bobas I've ever had, and I've had tons of boba! We got their Korean banana milk, and it tasted just like the real thing and it's probably so much healthier without all those artificial ingredients! I don't know how they did it but me and my kids loved it. My son even remarked it was one of the best ever! I also got their mango milk tea with pieces of real mango in there. I'm normally a huge fan of BoBaPoP because of their signature Ali Mountain tea, but the one I got here (my usual order of Ali Mountain milk tea with herbal jelly) was really bitter. The tea was over-steeped which made it less enjoyable. Maybe it was just an off day when we ordered. Oh my gosh, what an amazing discovery!!! Was craving bubble tea and wanted something other than Kung Fu Tea so pulled up Yelp and saw BoBaPop Tea Bar with its great reviews. Visited the super user-friendly website, loved the menu, and extra loved the customizable options, including oat milk! Yay!!! Placed an order and within 10 minutes got a text confirming my order was ready for pick-up. Once I got there the staff pulled my orders out of the fridge and I was off. There's plenty of parking in the back parking lot and also parallel parking available on the street. I was greeted right away by the staff, and they were SO nice! They let me sample their drink of the day, the mango madness milk tea, which I ended up getting. (I almost went with a winter melon green tea, so glad I tried their flavor of the day!) They also let me sample their white pearls, and I'm so glad I did! They're made of konjac, so that means less calories (at least from my research about tapioca pearls ). Also love that their drinks start at $4... I'm used to getting bubble tea that's $7-10 in Maryland, so this was great! As far as inside, there are 4 seats at 2 high top/bar style tables! I think I found my forever boba place. Its in the Kentlands off Main Street. Its a cute little shop with friendly staff, welcoming you as go in.. You go in and place your order at a kiosk, and it's all contact-less I love how they continously clean qnd wipe down surfaces as people come and go during this pandemic. I ordered thai milk tea. I love how I can customize my level of sweetness and how much ice I want. Some places don't do that. I had my drink with the pearls, too. They were pretty prompt with my order. I love the different choices they offer. My Thai drink was delicious. 3 hours later and Im feeling great. Some places use some milk base/ boba pearls that irritates my tummy. I am completely obsessed with this place. I never thought I would like a place like this since I like my tea unsweetened and plain. Let me tell you how wrong I was. I discovered this place through SDSC but couldn't wait for the actual event, so I ordered a day early. I have been back 4 days in a roll and working my way through the menu. Day 1: Tara slush - very rich and creamy because of the heavy cream but full of taro flavor. Next time I would request with half of the heavy cream. Passionfruit tea with passionfruit pop- 0% sugar - this was perfect. It was plenty sweet from the passionfruit for me. Day 2 - Mango slush with mango pop and also fresh pieces of mango. Not too sweet. Oolong tea - 0% sugar. Jury is still out for this one. It's not what I am used to. Day 3 Passionfruit slush with passionfruit pop and lychee jelly. What a wonderful combo. Jasmine green tea - 0% sugar. I love Jasmine tea. It's too weak at a lot of places but not here! Day 4 Red bean slush - with red beans and 50% heavy cream (put in special instruction.) I learned my lesson from the taro slush. It is not as creamy and rich but love the flavor. And feel less guilty. Salt P with 0% sugar, mango pop and lychee jelly. I don't know why I haven't written a review for my favorite boba spot in the DMV! Literally my favorite! I come here like every week. Lit-ter-ral-ly!! They specialize in high quality teas and their drinks are absolutely delicious! Our hands down favorite is the Japanese Brown Rice Milk Tea - I like to add the cream cheese foam with it bc it adds that extra umph if you know what I mean. Anyway, I don't think you can get this drink anywhere else here. Their seasonal drinks are also on point and I love that they like to experiment with different flavors! Lastly, the people who work here, especially the owner, are such good people! They set the standard on customer service. I came across BoBaPop Tea Bar waiting to go to the Elite Yogurt Tasting pickup and I am glad I did. The menu was different and interesting -- I tried the Korean Banana Milk with coconut cream and tapioca pearls. I loved all the toppings that they have available...it makes your boba that much more custom and exactly how you want it. I originally ordered the brown sugar tapioca pearls, and since they are more jelly like than normal pearls they came out and asked if I would like to sample them to make sure I wanted them. I really appreciated that because I ended just getting regular tapioca pearls. The Korean Banana Milk was AH-MAZ-ING!! I loved it and would go back just for that! Finally had a chance to check out BoBaPoP and found it to be just okay. I like that they have a variety of teas, as well as lattes and slushes, to choose from. The menu is kind of overwhelming at first (would have been nice for one of the workers to suggest a drink especially given we were the only two customers there at the time), so decided on my go-to...almond milk tea with regular ice, regular sugar, and boba. I found my drink to be too watered down with only hints of almond flavor. The boba was also slightly overcooked, being a little on the mushy side. I also tried some of the Bobapop milk tea. Better than my almond milk tea, but still just okay. I may be back if I'm in the areas since their foam milk tea sounds and looks interesting; however, with so many boba places in the area, I wouldn't go out of my way to come here to satisfy my bubble tea craving. read more

This is my fav boba spot in the area pre-pandemic and now, the milk tea is good quality with strong tea and I love the milk foam options too. Friend tried the red bean slush and enjoyed it as a caffeine free option. Boba had perfect texture. Recently tried the 3Q milk tea that comes with boba, egg pudding, and herbal jelly, which is perfect for me since I have a hard time deciding on toppings. Been here a few times and with each visit I have tried several different drinks - whether it be Milk Tea, Milk Foam Tea, Special Tea or Slush. I haven't tried any of the Fresh Teas as yet. I normally do not get Slush, but it was a delight to see fruit in it. I have had both the Chocolate Oreo and Mango Slush and ended up liking one more than the other because I found myself chewing on ice bits and so I wasn't expecting that in the Slush. Due to that, I preferred the Chocolate Oreo more than the Mango even though both were good. I have also tried the Oreo Mint Milk Foam Tea, but came to the conclusion that I don't enjoy foam tea - somehow the way to drink the foam tea didn't work for me (I tried quite a few times). I probably won't be trying this type of tea anywhere else. For the Special Teas, I have had the Kumquat Winter Melon (tasted similar to Lemonade) and the Lychee Oolong - a bit sweet, but I still enjoyed them. For the Milk Teas, I tried the Darling Tea, which tasted like just regular tea. I also had the Flower Green Tea (yum) and the Mint Milk Tea (my favorite of everything here). I forgot to add that I had added toppings to some of these teas like the White Pearl, Popball: Passion Fruit and the QQ Jelly: Brown Sugar. I can't remember what I had in what drink, but those were the toppings I'll have again (I didn't try all). My Favorite Combination so far has been the Mint Milk Tea with the Brown Sugar Jelly. One of my guilty pleasures is bubble tea. So, when BoBaPoP Tea Bar opened up right next to my dentist, I got really excited. I went early enough to get my tea treat, before my appointment. BoBaPoP Tea Bar was worth the wait! It is a lovely shop located on Main Street in the Kentlands. Service was exceptional and I ordered my Taro bubble tea with boba. The rich nutty flavor melted some of my stress away. I was happy to learn that all of the teas do not have lactate milk, so lactose intolerant folks can enjoy their tea with no worries. It was delicious and the price was reasonable too. Then, I was pleasantly surprised to find the owner is Sam, a fellow Yelper. He and his beautiful wife were both behind the counter. I am all about supporting local businesses and this is owned by one of our own. So, cute shop, great service, and delicious tea, this is a no brainer. My daughter ordered the brown sugar latte with boba. What I liked is how you can customize it based on type of milk (reg, lactaid, or oatmilk), sugar percentage, and amount of ice. Since it was our first time, she went with 30% ice and 70% sugar. Ordering was very simple and it took only a few minutes. We waited in the designated distanced area and looked over the menu while waiting. Pretty amazed by the number of options. The owner reached out not long after I posted my review to apologize, explain, listen and improve. One of the best service recoveries I've experienced in the US, I remembered my days in the hospitality industry. I don't normally give 5 stars for recovery before even availing or trying the "make-up" product, but it is well deserved. Most businesses dont really listen to the customers frustration, they'll just refund or reward and think that solves the problem. I feel like the owner understood both sides, and did not put the blame all on his staff either, owning the part where improvements on policies can be made so it does not happen again.
