I liked that there were kiosks to order - I love to fiddle around and see what my options are (when there's no line behind me, of course!) so this was great. I put my order in along with a poke order. My friend's drink and the three orders behind me came out pretty quickly. After I got my poke and still had not gotten my tea order, I went to check in. This was my first time at this Gong Cha location, which is inside a shared dining hall--a pretty cool concept that adds to the vibe. The space was clean, and it was definitely popping with people since I visited on a weekend. As for the promotion drink drink I got (final fantasy), it wasn't served in the marketed cup, which was a bit disappointing. Maybe I came at the very beginning or near end of the promotion... We asked for a drink listed on the menu and were told "We don't have that." Then I tried to modify a different, standard drink by asking for less ice. Not a heavy lift, but I was told no. Please note, this was not a slush, just a Thai tea. Customer service gets 2 star because the person actually making the drink said less ice for Thai tea is fine, but the cashier was curt and just about rude. The drinks were fine, but not stellar. The boba were small and chewy-- not a great representation. I don't recommend Gong Cha. There are much better in the area. read more

My go to is the strawberry milk tea. The food hall has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and bathrooms. There are cute claw machines inside of the food hall as well! This Gong Cha is one of the several food stands/vendors at the Spot, which is a predominantly Taiwanese food hall in Rockville Town Center. My friends and I decided to chill at the Spot after dinner and we all got Gong Cha to enjoy. The drinks we got were OK - no one was super impressed or anything. I got the Green Tea with honey (with 75% sweetness, which was apparently the least amount of honey I could add?) and I thought it was too sweet. It was definitely not worth paying $5.25 (pre-tax) for. There is a variety of warm and cold drinks, Asian-inspired flavors. It's your typical Gong Cha and you can't really go wrong with it. read more

I've had a few orders come out wrong here and it gets a bit awkward when there's long lines. There's not much room to stand and wait so you begin lining up in front of other food stands. I really like their milk tea series and I ordered a large earl grey with boba. What I do really appreciate about Gong-cha is that even at 100% sugar level, it's never overly sweet where you taste the artificial syrups and such. Came here after eating dim sum. Gong Cha is my favorite bubble tea chain. It's not always the freshest tea and bubbles because it's a chain, but I like the flavor of the classic milk teas and specialty teas better than KFT. My go-to order is the Earl Grey Milk Tea with 3J's (at 70 percent sugar). The toppings in the drink all pair really nicely with the earl grey milk tea. And I order it with a little less sugar because the sweetness of the 3J's balances it out and makes it perfect. I also like Lychee drinks so the Lychee Oolong with Jelly is another go-to order for me. It's a nice refreshing tea that's great for a hot summer day. I tried the Peach Soda. It's pretty good if you like sparkling drinks. Another refreshing option for a hot day. read more

The boba here is hit or miss. I've gone here three times now and I've had perfect boba, overcooked boba, and undercooked boba. Of the three drinks I've tried, I enjoyed the brown sugar milk black tea the best (70% sugar and 70% ice). It had just the right amount of sweetness to it. Wasn't a fan of the match milk tea. Tasted way too watered down for me. I found the pearl black milk tea to be just okay. Depending on the day and time you go, it could take a couple minutes to ~10+ minutes for your order to come out. When I go to this Gong Cha location, I place my order here and then go somewhere else to order food. By the time I come back, my order is generally ready. read more

I normally come to this Gongcha but lately my drinks have gotten messed up. For instance, two weeks ago I ordered a strawberry black tea latte except they didn't give me the latte part. Basically they gave me a strawberry black tea so I lost the extra $1 I paid for the latte. Then today, I got two drinks, a black milk tea with pudding jelly and a Thai tea with pudding jelly. The black tea had the correct pudding jelly and yet somehow mine ended up with rainbow jelly instead of pudding jelly. Please read the orders better. I been to this location before and I hardly see anyone go to this location because hardly nobody likes this location, I can see why most go to the 1800 rockville pike location, the employees at the spot location don't know how to make drinks, they are all literally dumb idiots. A month ago, I ordered in person and I ordered a smoothie with extreme creme brulee foam and extra oreos, after I received my smoothie, I noticed it did not have extra creme brulee foam or extra oreos, they just put a very small amount and i informed them about this and they literally did not care, all they lied and said was "no this is extra amount" when clearly it was not because it was very tiny small amount they put and they wrongfully refused to do anything about this. They don't know shit and they don't know how to make drinks and they don't even know what "extra toppings" even means, that's how dumb the employees that work here. Also, I noticed one of the dumbass employees, when he made my snoothie, I noticed he put way too much ice in the blender before blending and I told them about this and they made up a lie and said "no this is right amount of ice we use", he is a literal damn lie to say this because he's an idiot just like all the other idiot employees that work there, none of them don't know how to make drinks or smoothies properly. Guess what? When I went to drink my smoothie, it literally hurt my teeth, because the idiot put way too much ice in it, I couldn't even taste none of the flavor that my smoothie was suppose to have because the idiot put too much ice because they don't know how to put proper amount of ice for smoothies. They shouldn't even be working there. And even when I kept it in the fridge, it literally tasted like I was drinking plain watery bland flavorless smoothie. The smoothie had no flavor to begin with when they first made it because the dumb idiot put way too much ice and that's why couldn't really taste flavor in smoothie also when I first drank it after they made it. I never experienced nothing like this at any other gong cha locations when ordering smoothies, even when I drink my smoothies later and keep them in fridge, they never taste watery and they still retain flavor even after keeping them in fridge. And I informed them about the ice smoothie issue when I went back there same day, about this and they wrongfully refused to do anything about this. When I ordered smoothies at other gong cha locations, they never put this much ice in smoothies, that's because these idiots at the spot location don't even know the proper amount of ice to put in a smoothie. And I know what extra creme brulee and extra oreos look like because I ordered this same way at other gong cha locations and they actually give me my money's worth, but not this terrible crap disgusting location. the one at 1800 rockville pike, they know how to make their drinks properly and actually give your money's worth when paying for toppings because they actually give you what you paid for and they actually know where to put toppings at on cup when paying for extra. And then I went there recently, hoping I would have a decent maybe better experience, but no I did not, I was dissapointed with this experience as well. The other day, I ordered a purple sweet potato latte, the drink was literally disgusting, nasty and bitter and flavorless, had to throw it out on the trash because these idiots at this location don't know how to make anything, it's like they aren't following the instructions on how to make drinks. Few hours later, I noticed the drink made made me sick because i kept having diarrhea and vomiting, because that's how dirty the location is and unhygienic. And I couldn't contact them back they night because they had already closed. Just know that you will NOT get your money's worth at this location. Also, I notice at this location, their drinks don't taste fresh and don't taste like how they should because the ignorant dumb idiot employees that work here don't know how to make anything and they definitely don't know what extra toppings even means. I normally get the Lemon Ai-Yu w/ white pearl drink, and I enjoyed it ! This time I see that they added a grapefruit version, so I got that drink and I am so glad I did. It was tasty and flavorful. It gave a refreshing feeling while drinking it. I would definitely recommend if you enjoy fruity drinks more than the milky drinks. Or if you want a change from your standard boba :) Honestly, I don't come to Gongcha as often as other bubble tea places due to Gongcha's pricing being on the higher end. Out of the three, the matcha was my favorite. The Oreo and ube was a bit too sweet for me. My first bite, it was so fluffy, airy and soft. The donut itself is pretty plain but the glaze on top is what gives it its flavor. I also tried the mango green tea milk foam slush. I rarely ever get slushy boba but wanted to try something new & this drink did not disappoint. The mango and matcha blended so well together. In general Gongcha is my favorite chain store for boba tea. They have the most colorful and diverse flavors that are constantly being changed up with seasonal menus. They allow you to customize ice & sweetness levels and have a nice selection of add-ons to your drink. My personal favorite of the toppings: milk foam (also available in strawberry version) because it adds a slightly salty flavor & creamy texture to the drink, which I find works extremely well with the milk tea series of drinks. The boba is not sweetened here, but it is perfectly cooked -- nice, soft, good to chew on. They do a great job of making their drinks consistent each time I come here. Beautiful presentation. The milk foam makes the drink look so nice and I like the touch of matcha on top. They gave a cute blurb of the ways you can drink with the milk foam (mix it, sip it as is). Kind of unnecessary in my opinion, but I can see how some people might appreciate it. The sticker was upside down though. The actual boba was nicely chewy the way I like it. No strange mushiness you might get from random smoothie places who happen to also serve boba. Next time I'll specify no sugar(if I can do that) and will mix it. I wasn't able to choose a percentage of sweetness-- maybe it's for that specific drink or I read the menu wrong before I asked. It was very very sweet and towards the end of it without mixing. This is one of my favorite bubble tea spots in Rockville, despite there being so many. They have a really large variety of drinks you can choose from. They make all the drinks really well and the overall quality is very good. They also put cute touches on their drinks like a sprinkle of matcha powder on top which sets then apart from other places! Gong Cha also sells fresh waffles with ice cream. I believe they have vanilla, chocolate, and green tea waffles. They are delicious, though I wish there were more flavors of ice cream to choose from as there is only vanilla. They also don't have many toppings. One of the best things about this spot is the atmosphere. The seating area has a cute layout, there are many games you can pick up and play, and overall this place is always full of people. I like more busy spots like this one and the atmosphere is just great! read more

It's consistent in that they take time to make drinks and always seem to be training 1-2 new people, so yeah it's a little bit on the slow side but predictable ...But the drinks are always exactly as ordered and expected, prices are fair, and the selection is huge. If large only came in cold, the staff should have told me... No one even offered to remake it.
