Across from our hotel is this large old 1903 building that was transformed from a grocery warehouse into a multi entertainment venue. We went to Bobarino's for a bite to eat before a comedy show at The Bob. The restaurant is large, very loud. We originally sat at a booth but quickly asked to change. The dimensions were off-putting and my 5-4 body had a hard time reaching the table, same for my 6-2 hubby. Our server Lane quickly let us sit elsewhere. Lane said we were on the tail end of happy hour so we could enjoy that menu which was discounted. Lane provided great service and was engaging. We started with the buffalo chicken eggrolls to share. The perfect crunch with a creamy buffalo chicken filling with a little kick of heat. So good! My husband and I ordered pizzas for dinner. He had a sausage & mushroom pizza and I had a spinach & black olive pizza. The pizzas were woodfired thin crust pizzas that were so damn good. The crust was crispy around the edges and on the well done side. Perfect for me. My husband's beer was $3, and the appetizer and pizzas were $8 each. All that food for less than $30. That was the icing on top of the dinner cake. Luckily, we have a refrigerator in our room at the hotel because we have lots of leftover pizza. read more

This place was so hyped up for us and so disappointing. Every time I ask someone where to eat in GR they always recommend coming here! So after many road trips to GR we finally made it. It was a super busy weekend, but there were only a couple parties here when we arrived and could pick anywhere to sit. We found a table and were seated quickly. We then sat for about twenty minutes waiting for a server. The individual who seated us and the server were both extremely friendly and helpful and seemed to go out of their way for us, so I just wanted to say staff was very friendly. But after about 20 minutes my husband asked if we could have a server take our order and were told yes. Then after about fifteen more minutes I asked if we could get a server and the person said they forgot. When taking our order it was confusing because items on the menu did not seem to be in the ordering device and our server was a bit confused. We finally were able to order and were told the food would come in fifteen to twenty more minutes but it came fairly quickly. The arancini balls were tiny. There were only three of them and they were gumball sized and cost $15! That was a lot of money for something labeled "sharable" and were so small. Needless to say, they were mediocre, dry and I did not finish them. The pizzas were also fair, plenty of toppings and a good price, but only okay, nothing to rush back to eat. We had a make your own with chicken, BBQ sauce, and pineapple. We also had a chicken, pesto, and garlic. It was not the best crust and did not taste as good as it looks in the picture. We also had pasta with cheese and red sauce. Again, not bad, edible, but not the best. We tried cocktail, which was nice tasting and not a bad price and a stout, which was drinkable but nothing to order again. Overall it was not horrible. They have fun decor, plenty of games to play with connect four, pool. It is a great space to meet friends and hang out. The staff was great. But for me, since this city is known for food and drinks, so a place so popular could up their game in the quality and taste of the food. It is a great location near convenient parking, so I would recommend it if you are with a large party who want to bar hop and have fun. read more

It is pretty but definitely not a roof top bar I had envisioned. The only way to see the city is to stand to see over the high walls. So far I have found that The BOB is really only worth going if you want to party. The food and drinks aren't that great, and I'm assuming it's that way due to the high volume of college kids they serve who don't have a ton of money. The drinks weren't poured very well, and were very watered down. This is usually a problem when bartenders make large batches of a drink and store them In containers but it could just be a new bartender still learning, as well. The pizza, for me, tasted like a store bought pizza. The crust was dry and had no flavor and the cheese was also dry. It filled my stomach but definitely not a place I would go back to. If you are on a budget and looking for fun at the same time you can bet this is the perfect all in one shop for you. Games and craft beer downstairs, food and laughter up top. This place has everything all in one big ole building! Bobarino's is located on the 2nd floor of the B.O.B. in downtown Grand Rapids. The food was delicious! We had the garlic bread, which was nice and crunchy and served with a side of fresh tomato sauce for dipping. I am so glad I did the Michigan Cherry salad, it was tossed in a vinaigrette with herbed goat cheese and huge walnuts. It was perfect. He was so satisfied with the smash burger and large fresh cut fries! I wish I would've tried the pizza, there was a wood fired or a brick oven choice. It gives me a reason to come back! There is so much going on here, restaurants, comedy spots, concert venues, billiards, and so much more! If you are ever in Grand Rapids, check out the B.O.B.! read more

For a place known for the pizza, I was honestly underwhelmed. Was searching for Detroit style, something stick to your bones pizza. The speciality pizzas all looked really good, but I tried to keep it as traditional as possible with the margarita. The server was kind of to let me know that people are typically surprised that it doesn't comes with tomatoes, so he recommended I get that and balsamic to liven it up a bit. I definitely think it did, but was still not that impressed. The dough and crust didn't have much crisp, and the flavors were still relatively dull. It is a cool spot though - great to come and watch a game and hit the bar with your friends. It's very casual, nothing flashy, no thrills. I had two great experiences here and based on both I needed to deliver all 5 stars. Dan and Kelsey were both top notch servers and were attentive and courteous. The Philly steak dip was awesome and the pizza was a treat too. The B.O.B. setting is so cool and it is not restricted to snobby uptight hipsters who can communicate with anything more than distasteful glances. Came to Bobarino's before a show at 20 Monroe Live. Menu had a lot of items I was interested in but we decided on the Italiano pizza and Carbonara. If I ever see a carbonara on a menu, it is likely I will get it. So I've had a lot of different carbonaras in my life. I was pretty impressed with both items we got overall. The pizza seemed pretty standard. Nothing bad, but nothing stellar. I thought it had the perfect ratio of toppings - which for me, means I can eat the pizza without worrying about toppings constantly falling off. The carbonara I would definitely order again if I came back. It was creamy without feeling overly heavy. I didn't know how I would feel about the peas, but it ended up being a wonderful addition. read more

Beautiful view if you sit on the outside portion. The server was very friendly, however not the fastest service. I think they might have forgotten about one of the beers I ordered, but it wasnt a huge deal. Very apologetic for it. The pizza order had come out incorrectly the first time, but they appologized and brought out a correct order afterword. The pizza crust was extremely crunchy and flavorful. I don't understand the negative reviews of this place; they offered a decent meal on a weekday afternoon. The patronage was pretty sparse while we were there, but we got our food in a respectable amount of time and the waitress was always attentive with refilling our drinks. We both got burgers that had good flavor. They had a couple of gluten free items on their limited menu (I wound up with just a bunless burger), but I wish they had a more options (maybe even a gluten free pizza?). In fact, for a "pizza place," I was surprised that there wasn't really a pizza menu, just a pizza buffet in the back of the restaurant. It was quiet when we went, and the Bob is such a fun, quirky place and in such a great location that I can't imagine this place doesn't get some pretty good business throughout the week. It's been awhile since my last visit & I was pretty underwhelmed with the experience. There was about a 45min wait, however the hostess got us seated within a few minutes so that was great! I tried one of the non alcoholic beverages (cherry limeade) holy tartness, I couldn't take more than a couple sips. They were also out of most of the appetizer options, so we settled on chips & salsa, & an order of wings. They also simplified the menu options by a lot, definitely more bar food instead of dinner options. Our apps were good though, & our sever did a great job of checking on us & refilling our sodas for the 1.30hr wait we had for our dinner to come out. By this point the place was packed, the bathrooms were super run down which was odd because this place used to be maintained well. Missing door handles, cracked flooring... There were light bulbs out all over the main spaces of the building & cobwebs everywhere. I was also put off by the staff not having to wear an sort of uniform or name tag? I had no clue who worked here & who was a customer, super odd & confusing when someone needs assistance with something. Alessandria (my server) did help the less enjoyable experience however, her energy was great & she was really working her butt off, so great job girl! Main meal was decent but my food came out super hot while my guest came out semi-warm, & the flavor just wasn't there. Not sure if I'll be back or not. read more

First off I'd rate this place -6 if I could however our server Daniel was a very nice guy and I couldn't do that to him. When we arrived our table for 8 was ready and we had no wait after that everything kinda went south. We placed our drink order and waited for a little bit as if was a tad busy due to the TSO concert this evening but after our server came back sans any drinks we were advised that one of the drinks that we ordered was not available at which time we made a reasonable substitution, we placed our appetizer order and waited for another couple to arrive to order our main courses. During this time we needed refills on our drinks and place an order for a second round again a brief interlude waiting to only find out that the substitute drink was now also not available and we had to pick yet another beverage :( On to the food, Our orders were placed and we waited and visited during this time we were informed that they had ran out of French fries and would chips or sweet potato fries be ok we adjusted our orders and thought all was set when our food FINALLY arrived it had been over a hour as the food was handed out we noticed that we miraculously had regular French fries four of us had ordered sandwiches which all came out cold and my "chili dog" was cooked so crisp that a hot dog left in the desert for three years would have had more moisture and flavor to it! The Cuban sandwich's had no pickles which is what makes a Cuban, the burger was ice cold and I could go on I'm posting a picture of the dog just for reference. We will never eat here again, I will add that for some reason (even without being asked or us complaining) the manager had taken 20% off our bill I'm guessing that maybe someone noticed the quality of the food that was brought out wasn't up to par? If that was the case it should have never left the kitchen very poor first impression from this restaurant group for us. read more

Well, we just had a truly terrible lunch at Bobarino's. My sister and I had a pizza here once a few years ago, and I didn't remember it as horrible. It was Saturday lunchtime, and there were literally two tables of people in this large restaurant, with at least six servers milling about. I mention this, because it took nearly an HOUR to get SALADS. First, my sis and I order coffee. With cream, please. This turned out to be an ordeal. Our server, Paige, served the coffee, but she needed to go "downstairs" to get cream, as they were out. Not sure if she then went to the 7-11 or what? It was a good 10-15 minutes later that she came back with two tiny pitchers of cream, which she said was almost the end of it. (?) I added it to my now tepid coffee, but it never occurred to her to bring spoons. I stirred with my fork. We ordered three salads--two 'Killer Kale' and one Caesar with grilled chicken. Okay, after 40 minutes, we inquire as to our lunch? Paige tells us they are just waiting for the chicken breast (?!). Well, my guess is they left the chicken on the grill the whole time; because when she later served our salads, the chicken was so dried out, it was virtually inedible. Leather. Meanwhile, our 'Killer Kale' was more like baby chard--no biggie--but maybe a 1/2 cup of greens with a few little things thrown in. We were starving within the hour. We had to call out to Paige for any service at all, including the check. We told her right away we were not paying for the Chicken Caesar, but she didn't try to talk to her manager to have it removed from our check until we were ready to go. Then the manager was busy, so we had to wait further. Meanwhile, the staff on the other side of our wall is making lots of wild turkey sounds. Loudly. With no regard to the fact that patrons are still in the restaurant. All in all, it was a truly bad experience. read more

Bobarino's is the pizza restaurant on the second floor of the B.O.B. We went at around 10 at night and they had a live band playing who were awesome! There were still a decent amount of people there for how late it was. The staff was friendly and our waitress was great. I had a 9" pizza that had shrimp on it and other stuff I can't remember but it was delicious!! The only thing I would say I didn't like about Bobarino's is how much my pizza cost. It was $14 for my 9" pizza which I thought was just a bit pricey. It was delicious but not worth $14! read more

The patio is a great place to get away from the crowded and dark interiors of the BOB. The menu is the usual sandwiches, pizza and apps that you find at most American restaurants. Bobarino's is located on the second floor of the B.O.B. complex. They are a full-service restaurant with bar service, featuring the beers from B.O.B. Brewery (in the basement), an array of house cocktails, and a "food" menu. I can confirm many of the points raised in other bad reviews of this restaurant: The food is awful, the service is poor, and the atmosphere is all-around horrible. Even after extensive consultation with my dining companions, I don't even know where to begin! ATMOSPHERE: Loud! The acoustics are the worst I've ever heard in a restaurant, even (or especially) when no band is on stage. The architecture is to blame here. It's a large open room with concrete walls and a mid-height ceiling and nothing to dampen sound. Even background conversation among other diners can be deafening. Several in my party wanted us to leave after our first round of drinks, and in retrospect, I wish we had! FOOD: Pretty terrible all around. The pizza was borderline acceptable, and appears to be what they specialize in. One person in my party had the meat kabob and we agreed it was alright, but nothing special. My Cubano sandwich was edible, but mediocre. (At the risk of being snooty, I have to point out that a Cuban sandwich is made from pork meat, not deli pork slices.) Two people in my party had burgers they were unable to finish because they were completely inedible. Something is very wrong with how hamburger meat is ground here! The only food highlight was an odd one. Though the waitress had some trouble substituting the chips that came with sandwich with a side vegetable, the mixed vegetables eventually brought to me were actually quite good! Nice and garlicy and well-seasoned. If I ever am forced to eat here again, I will have only vegetables. SERVICE: Our waitress meant well and was clearly over-worked. It's not her fault. But the stress showed, and resulted in very bad attitude presentation. We felt scared and intimidated instead of welcomed. We also had to wait a very long time for food, and to get our bill. ENTERTAINMENT: During our visit we were "entertained" by dueling pianos. Even if you are in to this sort of thing, I suspect you can do better. No one in the house clapped for these fellows, even when they begged for applause. Also, they made a big deal about guaranteeing that money spent for requests would be returned if they could not play your request, but this deal was not honored. First musical act I ever wish I could take my tip back from! Overall, avoid this place. It's not horrible, but definitely bad. Go downstairs and eat at Gilly's instead. Or better yet, leave the building. B.O.B. is only good for beer drinking. read more

Waitress was great. Attentive and friendly. Beer selection was great. Food was 50/50. My husband liked his meat-laden pizza. I ordered the G-Wrap and it was missing half its ingredients. The pork was minimally represented (and flavorless); the andouille sausage was MIA; and the coleslaw had no kick. It's description sounds flavorful but the resulting sandwich was blah. Not a fan of this place. The only saving grace was their live music during dinner. The beet and arugula salad was not good. The beets tasted old and you could clearly see that all of the arugula was wilted. The wings had a sauce on them that was way too sweet. Salsa and guacamole were good, probably the best stuff we had. We shared 3 pizzas, and each one was just lacking so much. Sauce, flavor, fresh ingredients...we had way higher expectations. I had one superfruit spritzer, and then they said they were out of the mix for it! Find yourself a better dinner spot. Being a native of Grand Rapids everyone knows the B.O.B. and Bobarino's is the staple. I realize it is the "trendy" place to go but when you strip away the strut from saying you are eating at Bobarino's...it's quite subpar. The service...in a word, terrible. I have experienced everything from undercooked food, forgetting orders and waiting a half hour for a drink refill. And the food, I honestly could get better at an Applebee's. So save your money unless you insist on being pretentious enough to want the title of where you ate to impress your friends who probably had a more satisfying meal at TGI Friday's. read more

Visiting The B.O.B. and Bobarino's brought back some memories from my GVSU days. After arriving to GR late on a Friday night, we decided to visit Bobarino's for dinner. I went with the B.O.B.'s Beer Burger on a pretzel roll with fries. It was slightly irritating that I had to pay extra for a pretzel roll (standard at all good burger joints in Chicago) and pay extra for basic french fries (as apposed to chips). The burger was very mediocre. Perhaps my standards have increased since moving away from GR.... Our service was good overall, but my meal just didn't cut it. I recall the food being a bit better, so perhaps I would just cross the burger off of my list should I ever return. read more

While visiting GR, we needed a family friendly restaurant for an early dinner and we chose Bobarino's since we could simply cross the street from our hotel. The kids had pizza... I tried a piece...it was delicious! I do love brick oven pizza. My husband and I ordered cheeseburgers. They were good, but we both agreed they seemed small. That could just be because they did not serve fries with their burgers, instead we had what seemed to be homemade sweet potato chips. I was really hungry, so I ate quite a bit of them...where usually, I wouldn't really eat any. There are only a few exceptions where the subsititution of chips for fries is acceptable to me. At a regular restaurant that charges over $8 for a burger...it is a weak move. There have to be better places to eat in GR....even inside The BOB itself. read more

Went here during LENT. Can't eat meat on Fridays during LENT. They offered no type of fish/seafood at all on menu. Couldn't believe it. They offered to put shrimp on a salad and they were the size of ceviche shrimp. Won't be going back. read more

Good prices, nice selection, attentive service, but the food was WAY too salty! My husband and I ended up here on a Sunday evening just before ArtPrize opened. It was nice to see some of the artwork being displayed without having to fight massive crowds. We were greeted and seated promptly, and with a smile. We shared chips + salsa, which also comes with guacamole, and I ordered a beer sampler--four generous pours for $4. Great deal! Our entrees--grilled chicken for him, shrimp kebobs for me--were both incredibly salty, to the point of not being able to finish them. My shrimp/veggies/rice came with four sauces, but the shrimp were plenty flavorful on their own, being lightly dressed/seasoned already. The rice was a bit undercooked, but I chose to eat that rather than the sodium-laden veggies. Too bad; it all looked so good and fresh. Portions were a good size. Our waitress was very nice and kept apologizing to our table for the long wait periods. We did ask for ranch to go with our pizzas and it came after mostly everyone at our table was done eating.
