The decor was lovely. It was on the girly side. I think this place would be a good place for girlfriends to get together and go for coffee. And I also think it is a nice place for a date - impress your girlfriend - show her that you have some "sense and sensibility" and show her that you care about her likes too... Furthermore, they also specialize in wedding cake which are super-expensive. However, their individual-sized cakes were priced around $5 each. So the average person could afford to treat themselves and their significant other or friend here for sure. Red Velvet Cupcake (5/5) -It tasted fresh-baked. It was moist & rich the way I like my cake. The cake tasted sweet with no particular flavor. It was just like a fresh white cake, but it was red. And the icing was like a sweet cream cheese. Americano (5/5) -Lovely. Had a black licorice undertone at the end if you will - don't know any way else I could describe it. I GOT Yelp in order to leave my first review: let me start by saying I've worked in retail environments, and can appreciate that sometimes they can be stressful positions. However, I was very polite, there was no reason for the people at Bobbette and Bell to be rude to me. They just were. More importantly, though, the cupcakes were terrible. The cake was uninspired and dried out. No excuse for a dried out cupcake. Icing was oily, flavour was just ok. I recognize that small businesses are suffering during covid - we're ALL SUFFERING. My fiance and I went to Bobbette & Belle for our wedding cake on the recommendation of our wedding planner. We were not disappointed! We met with Allyson and she was helpful and super friendly! As for the cakes... delicious! We had a tough time choosing from their selection of flavours, as there were so many good ones. Good thing we're having a number of tiers on our cake so we can get multiple flavours! As for the look of their cakes, absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Food and drink: Loved the alfajores (mini lemon shortbread cookie sandwich with dulche de leche in the middle and rolled in coconut). The bread pudding was also wonderful - comes with a sauce to drizzle on it and when warmed up is absolutely delicious! Cupcakes were not overly sweet and delicately flavoured (perfect for me, but others may find them underwhelming, especially the salted caramel). Pleasant staff...beautiful shop. I had a friend and her ten year old visiting this weekend. This young lady is a huge fan of reality tv shows, especially food related ones. Although we had already sampled a variety of very cute bakeries today in Riverside and Leslieville, this was the show stopper. She was so excited when she saw the display cases, and she went nuts over the mini cupcakes with the elegant single flower on top, but her jaw literally fell when she spied the wall of wedding cakes. I guess the highest praise ever is she asked her mom if when she gets married, will Mom buy her cake at Bobbette and Belle? I used Bobbette and Belle for my dog's birthday party. Yes, I threw my dog a party! Most of the guests were humans and I wanted delicious baked goods. I worked with B&B for an event I did at work and was really impressed with their attention to detail and professionalism alongside friendliness. I ordered personalized cookies that had my dog's FACE.ON.THEM. They turned out wonderfully and tasted great. I also ordered the Coconut Pineapple pastry shop cake. The cake looked beautiful and was delicious! Very fresh and very coconut! I found that the pineapple icing could have been a bit stronger in flavour but understand the purpose of a more delicate tasting icing. The cake was not sickening and very light! I also purchased some of their toasted coconut marshmallows and meringues. They were both fresh and tasty! For Christmas I also bought the coconut marshmallows - same freshness and yummy taste. Overall, my experiences here have been very positive, particularly from customer service standpoint. I am very happy with their work! read more

So I gave this store 5 stars for their cakes that we ordered online and had delivered to us. But we just went to the new storefront to try the Macaroons and Cupcakes, so now we'll rate them on these two items. Macaroons were pretty chewy, we never knew what they were going to taste like, or should taste like. So we can't say whether they are good compared to others or not. But they were fine. With regards to the Cupcakes. We found the Buttercream Icing used here very Buttery (Greasy)! I actually had to throw them out. The cake on the vanilla cupcake was pretty good. Although I found the buttercream to be really heavy and somewhat flavourless. Very beautiful space. The interior of this cafe / bakery is nicely decorated. It's white furniture, big windows, and shelf of cakes just makes you want to go in and get something. We got some macaroons - very airy, with a nice thick cream center. The caramel one was delicious. Pistachio macaron was one of the best I've had in Toronto and it's very chewy :) They are $2.25 each but I would say they are pretty big. My friend said the raspberry chocolate cupcake was just average. Cupcakes are $2.95 but they have a lot of flavours to choose from. I personally loved the cupcakes I got. For some crazy reason we picked Mother's Day to go narrow down our choices for our wedding macaron tower. Since we would be ordering a macaron tower we didn't qualify for a free tasting, boo :( But as the bride-to-be, it was my way or the highway so I dragged my fiance from W to E to go to a bakery on Mother's Day. The space is large, airy and has a lot of natural light. The furniture and decor is cozy and tasteful. The ladies at the counter were great! We received a lot of apologies, not because they were out of items, but because we just had to wait for them to cool. They were pumping out treats like crazy and barely had time to restock displays before goodies were snatched up. We got 10 macarons in a cute Chinese takeout box: salted caramel, gianduja, raspberry, chocolate raspberry, chocolate, vanilla, milk chocolate caramel, pistachio, passionfruit and heavenly cream. We also got three cupcakes: mango passionfruit, strawberry and coconut lime. The total was a little over $30, very reasonable. Our favourites of the macarons are the passionfruit (suprisingly), gianduja and pistachio. The macarons are chewy, very few had air pockets, and the fillings were very generous. The vanilla and pistachio were filled with buttercream instead of ganache. The pistachio tastes like REAL pistachios, not artificial flavouring. My favourite cupcake has got to be the vanilla cupcake with mango/passionfruit butter cream. Their cupcakes are on the dense side, closer to a loaf than a cake. Not a bad thing but I like my cupcakes a little lighter. It's far from us but I'd definitely be back and I'm definitely ordering my macaron tower from here. Bobbette & Belle...I just love the name! On Monday afternoon, my boyfriend and I were in the area for dinner and I checked to see if there were any good desserts nearby (as always...with a sweet tooth like mine!). Bobbette & Belle came up and there was no way we were going to drive away without trying a cupcake, cake, and/or macarons. As we stepped into this pastry shop, it was quite evident that wedding cakes are their specialty. A display of beautiful wedding cakes (and magazines!) on the left, comfy seats with big tables in the middle, and shelves full of packaged treats on the right. My eyes then turned toward the counter filled with baked goods, everything from scones to cakes to macarons to cupcakes. Oh so many choices! I decided on a slice of Chocolate Hazelnut cake and two macarons (Salted Caramel and Milk Chocolate Caramel). We also ordered two iced teas. After some time, the friendly server came by with a very generous slice of Chocolate Hazelnut cake. Delicious chocolate ganache between layers of moist chocolate cake, covered in chocolate hazelnut buttercream AND topped with chopped hazelnuts and hazelnut chocolate curls. Mmm... It sounds very sweet, but it was the perfect level of sweetness. As for macarons, my all-time favourite is salted caramel. I have tried salted caramel macarons at a few other pastry shops in town, and I think Bobbette & Belle's Salted Caramel Macaron has become my fave. The salted caramel buttercream is so light that it complements the crunchiness of the shell, as well as the sweet and slightly chewy meringue inside. I cannot recall the name of the tea I ordered, but I believe it was a white tea infused with pears. It was light and refreshing. Both Bobbette & Belle's locations are out of the way for me, but if I am ever in the neighbourhood again, I will definitely stop by and try some of their other baked goods. read more

Very open, nice, and bright cafe. I ordered a hot chocolate. I usually don't really do cafes, it's not my scene, so I forget the hot chocolate at these places are super thick and chocolatey. It's VERY common for you to wait up to 15 mins for them just to acknowledge your presence - while you are standing like an idiot and waiting for THREE people to serve one customer - yes, that task for them takes 3 people and about 20mins!!! And FYI - this happened to me many many many times! And God help you if you decide to order a cup of coffee from this place - here goes half of your day and one very shitty small cup of cappuccino - why on earth it takes them forever to make a coffee???? I have been very very patient with this place, but their service became just unbearable over the years. This place is very expensive and the least they could do is SMILE. But guess what!?? They act like YOU should be thankful that they allow you to shop at that place. I love this cafe. Their selection is really good, and although not the best pastries I have had, their hazelnut and milk chocolate cupcake is to die for. Never again. Used to love this place but B&B has grown too big for it's britches! We visited on December 30. I walked up to the counter and was happy to see an abundant selection of macarons for sale. I requested 12 and the attendant (who seemed very uninterested and disingenuous) stated that they only had a few left for sale. What about all the macarons I see in front of me? She tells me they are only for display. The other sales girl chimes in saying: "you wouldn't want to eat those, they've been sitting there for months". So, I get to choose 6 macarons (I wanted 12) from a measly plastic container hidden behind the counter. I also ordered a cup of earl grey tea. I was given a cup of 'heavenly cream' tea. She filled the mug up with boiling water to the rim. I politely informed them that this was not earl grey tea. The other sales girl chimed in again, stating: "this is our house blend earl grey". Darling, earl grey=bergamot while heavenly cream=bergamot + vanilla. Aye! I stood there for 10 minutes, trying to get another cup of tea as they ignored me. And the place was a mess! I've made the trek 4 times now between the stores. My first visit was squeezed in just before work early Monday morning to the Yonge location. I called in advance the day before to inquire whether I could arrange to have a gift put together for my colleague. I arrived upon opening. I was one of two people in the shop. The customer service was awful. I had requested a bag to put the goods in. It was left on the counter. I reminded staff it was a gift and I would need a bag and tissue paper to put it together. I was ignored. I asked again for tissue paper explaining it was a Birthday gift. I was ignored. I asked a third time - it was then thrown in front of me on the counter. I assembled everything myself. Really thrown off by the poor service and rudeness of the staff I put off another visit for several months. I returned a second time and again terrible service - the staff should not be in client facing roles. In the middle of my order staff tended to someone behind me in line - I was then interrupted again as the same staff member assisted yet another person - whom wasn't in the middle of giving their order at the cash. Adding to the offensive customer service, I ordered cupcakes that were stale. I asked whether or not they were fresh that morning or if they had other baked goods that were -- the staff told me they were made that morning (Sunday morning) I said they were awful and asked the rest of the staff until someone had said they were not. They had been made a day or two before. The third and fourth visit had been the exact same experience with unacceptable customer service - and cupcakes stale. It was only the first visit the cupcakes were outstanding. I will not be returning. Nor will my colleague, friends, and family. I will add, I raised this twice to the owner, and general manager - none of which addressed this properly-- "Thank-you for letting me know" is a completely unacceptable response. I was planning a wedding for a friend and she decided to order Bobbette & Belle's macaroon tower. Visually it was great and the taste of it was also great. Problem is their customer service. It's standard in any food business to have a customer call a day or two in advance to confirm a custom order. So I called a day in advance to confirm the order and delivery time, no one answered the phone at 1 pm. I figured they were probably busy so I called again at 3 pm, still no answer. At this point I am a little antsy because I wouldn't want my friend to be left without a dessert tower during her wedding! So I actually took the rest of the day off and drove all the way down to the store to confirm the order and delivery time. Holy, they were rude. I mentioned how no one picked up the phone even though I called twice, the owner/manager just shrugged it off without apology or explanation. Anyways, I got what I needed done and I just left feeling frustrated. So the next day lo and behold, they were late delivering the order. Sigh. So I had to call them again, this time they picked up the phone! I was elated! But the lady over the phone was rude! She sounded very annoyed and told me the driver is on the way, it must be the traffic. The delivery was 1.5 hours late! I just want to point out that my friend's reception is at Arcadian Court. It's a 10 minute drive! Honestly I was rather pissed off at this point. While they were setting up the tower they were yapping away during my friend's ceremony! Who actually does that? read more

I've given this place a couple chances. I'm a big Macaron fan and frequent a few spots in the city. The macarons at B&B are barely passable, one has little flavour and on another visit the one I received was stale. When I politely notified the staff that those specific macarons may be stale, the blonde behind the counter became quite aggressive and rude which took my completely by surprise. A friend of mine also dropped by for a cake once, it was fairly bland and dry, really surprised and disappointed that a nicely appointed bakery like this in the neighbourhood just isn't up to snuff, they're all show and no substance. I ordered a special milestone birthday cake through Bobbette & Belle and it exceed our expectations in the best way! The flavour was Mango Passionfruit and it looked beautiful and tasted incredible! All of our family & friends really enjoyed the cake. It was something special and unlike anything we have tried. The french macarons were also lovely. Everything tasted so fresh and clean. This is one of the best bakeries we have ordered from and we've been to quite a few all over the city. I usually go to Yummy Stuff for Red Velvet cupcakes, but it's in the west and I'm in the east, so I made the mistake this year of trying a new place for red velvets, and they were horrible. I do not recommend Belle and Bobbette on Queen east. Even though I phoned in my order the day before and told them when I would come pick them up, I was made to wait at 10-15 minutes while they did who-knows-what to prep them. I think they hadn't iced them or something. When they finally came out, they were in a massive box, and they had glued them in place with chocolate. When I looked at them, I questioned whether they were indeed red velvet, because they didn't look very red. Well, it was a shame, as they were for my wife's birthday. They did not taste very "red" - mostly chocolate AND the bottoms were slightly burnt! And even though they said their icing was "made with" cream cheese - it tasted like it was made with lard or shortening. Not worth a repeat at all. I didn't even want to eat a second one. i got the pineapple coconut cake for a birthday. Since it's January and cold, decided to go with a tropical cake selection and pretend it is warm. When I called to place the order, found out they will also add a birthday wish for free.(see photo) which with a nice touch. Contrary to most of the bakeries, this one was spacious and had plenty of room for people to sit and stand around. They didn't need much decoration, since the cakes and cupcakes were enough. Back to the cake, it was delicious...full of coconut flavour and a light pineapple cream. The cake and icing was a bit more dense than I preferred, I expected light and fluffy since it was coconut and pineapple. It reminded me of somewhat like a wedding cake texture. So I liked it, but not my preferred cake texture, hence the three star. While I was waiting for my cake to be boxed, they were putting out a new batch of macaroons and also saw you can get fresh coffee, hot chocolate. Finally made my way here for Free Macaron Day. Purchased a couple of Macarons, a box of meringues, and a Red Velvet Whoopie pie. Macarons were lacking in filling, perhaps because it was free day? Meringues were really good. The red velvet whoopie pie was a big disappointment. The Red Velvet cake tasted as if it had red food coloring added, which gave it a horrible bitter after taste. I'll admit, I'm a macaron snob. Moved to Toronto 18 months ago and I've yet to try the much-raved about B&B macs. Had an old friend visit from Seattle this week and they were staying around the corner of the place so I figure what better place to take them for a light morning meal? Had a croissant, mango-peach nectar and macs of the following flavours - pistachio, black-currant, passion fruit. The croissant was good; nice, light and fluffy. The nectar was great. The macs left something to be desired. Not enough filling, two of the six shells had hollows and there wasn't a distinguishable flavour in each of the macs. Mind you the last macs I had were from Bisoux-ciao in NYC and those blew EVERYTHING I've ever tasted away in terms of macarons. But for a place that gets as many raved reviews as Bobbette's, I was expecting a lot better in terms of taste and quality. read more

Ok so it all started out as a great experience...until I saw my wedding cupcakes right before I was about to walk down the aisle and I almost started to cry. During the consultation, they actually brought out Pantone colour swatches, so I felt at ease about the detail they were going to for the colour. It was decided that the cupcakes would be 3 shades of coral...well the tiny flowers on the top of the cupcakes were pink, but the icing was yellow, cream and beige?!?! I gave these people pictures of the colours I was working with AND they wrote down on the contract the Pantone colours and not anywhere was yellow ever mentioned. I would give Bobbette and Belle 4/5 stars. I love: the decor, coffee, service, and the macarons (most of the time). I was dropping into the place on my days off to try another flavor of the macarons. During my last visit, I had the raspberry, salt caramel, and chocolate. I split them with my friend. The first two tasted GREAT. The chocolate was a bit strange in texture and I noticed a detergent taste. Maybe it was dropped, or handled poorly?? I don't know. I think I have found another reason to love Leslieville. The cupcakes at Bobbette and Belle are highly addictive. Because they are so light and do not have that "oh so sugary taste", you feel like you can eat multiples, or if you are like me, you actually do. These are the cupcakes that you eat when you want dessert without the cavity. There are a few variations of vanilla and chocolate but hands down the best ones are the mango, raspberry and red velvet. They have macarons, hand made marshmallows and other sweets but I'm a cupcake kind of girl. The shop has a girlie feel, quaint and elegant. While you wait in line you can admire the beautifully designed cakes that are on display. The details are amazing. read more
