I debated writing this because I actually liked the groomer and my puppy's haircut came out nice…read more But the overall experience was extremely stressful and poorly handled. I brought my puppy in for a routine groom with JAZMIN and was told he had a mat on his arm. I completely understand that mats happen--that wasn't the issue. The issue was how it was communicated and handled. Before I left, she checked his entire body in front of me and confirmed that was the only mat. Despite that, she began telling me that his entire body might need to be shaved down and that he could possibly be showing skin. As a dog owner, that's very alarming--especially when it doesn't match what was actually found. When I tried to ask questions and figure out a reasonable solution, instead of guiding me, her response multiple times was: "Do you want to just take him?" She repeated this several times--even after I had scheduled my day around this appointment and was clearly trying to move forward. Even when I came back to adjust the plan (just bathe him, hygiene cut, etc.), I was met again with: "Do you want to take him?" There was no reassurance, no clear plan, and no offer to simply proceed and call me if anything else was found--which would have resolved everything. Instead, I spent hours going back and forth, stressed and unsure if I was going to pick my dog up shaved down to the skin over one small mat. The final result? Exactly what I initially expected--only that small area was trimmed and the rest of his coat was perfectly fine. That confirms this situation was unnecessarily escalated from the start. I don't have an issue with the grooming result. But the communication, tone, and overall handling of the situation were disappointing and avoidable. When I spoke with a manager, I was told the groomer may have been "having a bad day." Respectfully, that shouldn't affect how customers are treated--especially when it involves their pets. Because of this experience, I won't be returning. I just can't go through that level of stress again over something so minor.

I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for this place because it's where we got our kitten. On…read morethe left side of the store, there is a Houston Humane Society cat adoption area. While we were not in the market for a cat when coming in to check out this place, we fell in LOVE with one of the kittens up for adoption. We had to file the paperwork through the Humane Society, so we couldn't leave with her that day but nonetheless, we got our little fur baby here. As for the store itself, I personally feel the prices are higher than elsewhere. The main thing I've gotten here was cat litter (which typically runs a few bucks higher than other stores.) I have only made these purchases when I've received 20-25% off coupons in the mail which brought the price down below competitors. There is a clearance rack near the cat adoptions. Here I've found cat treats for up to 75% off (depending on the expiration, sooner they expire, the less $ they'll be). Staff are usually pretty helpful and always friendly. Some of the guys offer to carry the 25-40lbs cat litter containers out to my vehicle for me which is super sweet of them. Lastly, while researching for this post, I wanted to look up the exact cost of the cat litter from their website... only their website is not very good. A simple search for cat litter came up with "no results found." Then I looked through the cats-supplies-litter and waste management tabs and again, "no results found." Very odd. So I don't have any actual price data to include. Their website needs a lot of work.

BEWARE***Kennel Cough Alert*** 12/10/2024 I dropped my dog off for the first time at a boarding facility here. I felt confident after speaking with the lady that works there that this would be a decent place for my furbaby. I did not have a great experience with the man that works there and to find out, he's the "General Manager". I dropped my, almost 2 y.o., dog off here from 11/30 - 12/8 as we were going on a cruise. Upon pick-up on 12/8 around 11:45am, I asked the GM how was Kingsley's stay, and he replied "good". I expected to hear more than just good as an update, but ok. As the GM brings out my baby, he is coughing and honking. I asked the GM about it and he "promised" that Kingsley wasn't sick but was pulling on his harness (not collar). I told him that in all the year(s) that I've had him, he's never made those sounds pulling on a leash. I asked him if he was sure and he stated the same thing. When I got home, Kingsley continued to cough, honk, sneeze, and try to clear his throat. Around 4pm, I called back to inform them that he's still making these sounds and there's no harness or anything on him. The GM said how it was impossible to be Kennel Cough, how they had a slow week, how there wasn't many dogs, etc. The thing is, Kingsley is unaltered, so he couldn't have the play time with other dogs anyway so it doesn't make sense. Kingsley also had soft stool with blood. I asked him if he had noticed or if any staff had noticed and he said no. This leads me to believe that they are not keeping a true watchful eye on the dogs to any degree. The GM says that him nor any of the staff heard Kingsley coughing or noticed blood in his stool. Kingsley was with them for 9 or so days and he did not arrive like that. I've never had any illnesses with him up until this point which I expressed to the GM. My rhetorical question to him was so this is Kingsley's 1st time coughing at my noon pick-up and bloody stool by 4pm and it's sudden onset?! That's ridiculous. The GM denied it and said how we couldn't prove anything without a vet's opinion as he is not one. He said after taking Kingsley to a vet, then we could have "the" conversation. On 12/9, I took Kingsley to urgent care and he, in fact, has Kennel Cough. They loved on him and prescribed him medication. I relayed the GM's messages to them to check for their medical opinion and they made it clear that it's impossible that his very first time showing signs of Kennel Cough and bloody stool was when I picked him up. I called Paws and Friends today, 12/10/24 around 5:30 pm, and confirmed the Kennel Cough to the GM. Did he apologize? No! Did he seem caring? No! His response was that Kennel Cough is not 100% preventable. I could understand that to a certain degree. My issue with him is the denial, suspected dishonesty, and the lack of accountability and customer service. I asked him if there would be any reimbursement for his medical care or even a portion of his stay, the GM said no. I feel that like paying for Kingley's vet care at the bare minimum could have righted this wrong. Quite actually, I would have been the upmost satisfied with a more transparent answer and wellness update upon pickup akin to "Hey, I'm not sure if Kingsley is ill, but we noticed this and that and we'd advise he'd be seen for these symptoms because ( ) isn't 100% preventable. But no, I received an Oh, he's just pulling on his leash, I promise he isn't sick. Oh, he just coughed once, that's not indicative of Kennel Cough. The service and treatment my family received is unacceptable and I cannot recommend Paws and Friends to anyone with pets. Also, I asked the GM if there was anyone that I could speak to besides him, a District Manager, the owner, anyone above him. Guess what, he's the end-all-be-all. In his words, the owner isn't really involved in the business. For boarding, I spent shy of $300 and for vet care, I spent about $280. **Message shortened for update space**

Upon making my appointment I was not made aware of the new adjustments in price and charging an extra % to use credit. We have taken are puppy to Pearland Barkway since his first cut and have gone quite a few times since. The front desk employees are always great and detailed, and today was no different. The reason I am leaving this review is just provide feedback about my experience and how I left feeling. When dropping off Lio, my boyfriend and I are super specific about how we cut his hair, because he's a poodle a mix and the cut usually defines that. When I was asked about the cut for today, I asked if we can just do the same as last time. The woman up front even went to find the sheet from a filing cabinet and called the groomer to the front to discuss it with me. She asked if I wanted a "4" all around and I said if that's what he got last time then yes. She copied a few notes from his last sheet to today's sheet. When I picked him up, I was very surprised and didn't even recognize Lio to be honest. I didn't say anything other greet him and give him some love, up until I asked if everything looked good. I said it was muncher shorter than what I expected and again she was kind enough to bring out the sheets and call the groomer out. I showed a video of what Lio looked like when he got his haircut a month ago to the groomer. She said this is what a "4" all around is and I replied I don't know all the terminology about grooming but this is not what he looked like last time. A second receptionist pointed out that his last sheet had notes on there that indicated to keep his hair long in a particular style that obviously were not taken into consideration. I told them, well his hair is gone and I asked well what can I ask for next time so that we can get what we wanted. They pulled out the sheet and made notes with me to ensure next cut would be better. Throughout this conversation, they weren't at all rude but I felt like the groomer realized she had made a mistake. She didn't apologize but said the last sheet had a lot of notes and made it confusing. I also felt it was odd to charge a customer before seeing how the grooming went. I wasn't expecting anything but offering some sort of refund or discount on my next cut seemed fitting due to how much hair they cut off of my puppy. I know in the future to provide photos and be EXTREMELY descriptive. I'm also going to request a different groomer next time we come in. I went ahead and uploaded two photos. One is from a month ago from his last cut and today's; I'm sure you'll see the difference.
