Bobby Mac's Bayside offers incredible views of Lake Saint Clair, a diverse menu, and very pleasant service. My husband and I visited Bobby Mac's on a Sunday and found the staff to be a bit frantic, as it was Palm Sunday and we later learned that they were short-staffed. Our attentive server was rushing around and handling multiple tables at both ends of the restaurant, yet kept our glasses full and checked back on us multiple times. We ordered a special, the hush puppies, and we found them delicious. My husband ordered the grilled chicken wrap while I had the fish and chips. Both were great, though it was clear that my fish was not caught fresh. The decor and ambiance of the restaurant is not what I would expect from the same ownership of multiple other restaurants in the Macomb County area. Outdated decor hangs on the walls and the restrooms reminded me of a middle school bathroom. I think that Bobby Mac's is in need of a decor update and thorough cleaning, but also can see how it may add to the charm of the restaurant. I suspect that the regular clientele is made up of regular locals and people coming in from boating on the lake. Both groups may enjoy the "character" of the outdated decor. Overall, while not the most impressive restaurant I've visited, I certainly enjoyed my food and would recommend to at least give Bobby Mac's a try. read more

My wife and I went with a party of 16 and I made the mistake of ordering their Cherry Pork Chops. As soon as it arrived I thought something was amiss because it had an odd aroma. I thought it was sauce so I started to eat. It was cooked perfectly but the taste was very bad. I finally scraped the sauce off and forked a piece of the meat which smelled spoiled. I asked others at the table and a waitress to smell the piece of the meat on and everyone acknowledged that it smelled really spoiled. The meal started coming up on me immediately and I ended visiting the restroom 4 times before I left early. The restaurant took the meal off the bill but never formally apologized for the horrible meal, rather a story about someone else had the pork chops earlier the day and had no issues. That may be true with the meat he was served, but I was up the entire night with all the symptoms of food poisoning . Only now 24 hours later am I feeling better. I find it hard to understand why the island and the cabana blue had a 45 minute wait where this Bobby Mac's was immediate seating. It seems to me that the food selections were better here, the service was better here, and the food was great. The food is pretty good here but that's the only positive thing I can say. We have been here multiple times and the service is horrid! The waitresses almost make you feel like you are an inconvenience for being here. So unfortunate because this could be a gold mine. We had a lot of questions and since the waiters were somewhat new, they had to check and get back to us. We tried the perch, cherry pasta, London Broil and coconut chicken. We had a nice evening out and enjoyed sitting on the patio listening to live music while watching boat traffic as the sun set. The view at this restaurant is fantastic. The menu has everything from seafood to pasta to burgers and salad. They offer a full bar and a special cocktail menu. They make a great tropical long island ice tea if you are looking for. sweet drink. My favorite was the french onion soup which had a bit of gruyere cheese. I highly recommendation. My husband had the poor of perch and thought it was a bit bland. My fish sandwich was good too. read more

We have not been Bobby Mac's for about (1) year. Food was excellent, my wife had chicken lemonata, she loved it, l had Cocunut Chicken, it was excellent. Well, I haven't been back here in 16 years. I received traumatic news here 16 years ago when I was here for lunch and I have had issues with anxiety just seeing the building. But today was a gorgeous day in April and we were taking a ride by the water and I decided that I needed to venture inside. They say time heals all wounds but I'm not truly convinced of that. Nevertheless we went in and sat at the bar. The restaurant is situated right on the water. The view is amazing! It's not very big inside and you should expect to wait if you don't have a reservation. There are docks right in front of the restaurant and an outdoor patio. The bartender was very friendly and funny. We chatted a bit as it wasn't very busy at this time. We didn't eat, and honestly, I don't remember eating the last time I was here (even though I know I did) but the menu looked good with a lot of options. I think now that I have gotten over the anxiety I felt being near that building, I will be back this summer. I love this place! Great location on water with great views. The inside is very cool, with deer antler lights and other things. The food is amazing as well, we all ordered the Panko crusted cod for our entree and crab cakes for an appetizer. Both were outstanding! The first time we had came in to eat was amazing, we had our server Shelby (I believe that's her name) and she made sure we were doing great the whole time. Last time our food was quickly out while it was super busy, same with our drinks, me and my husband absolutely loved it! When our Cajun bites came (like bread with a ton of Cajun seasoning), I opened my napkin cutlery roll and the knife and fork were dirty. Very good chicken lemon rice soup-very lemony and thick. Worth trying again. They seemed to be off a bit at first. Service was not the best. Bread served promptly but the plates with it were unclean. We waited about 10 minutes for server to come back but she didn't so my wife took the plates up to get clean ones. We seemed to no longer be invisible and from there out service was ok. Great service. Our server was really friendly and super nice about recommending things and asking the kitchen to make accommodations for some dietary restrictions. I had the cherry salad with grilled salmon and my husband had a baked cod sandwich (special order). My salad was crispy and fresh. Very tasty. And my salmon was cooked to order. We made reservations on a Saturday night - although the place wasn't crowded at 5:15 pm. We were met at the door by a young blond female hostess whom seemed to have an attitude when we requested to sit outside. We were lead to a dirty table and the menus were thrown onto the table. We requested that the tables and chairs be wiped down (bird droppings, fish flies, etc). After she walked away our dining experience was much improved!- we had Ashland as our waitress- she was great - very personable. I was skeptical about this place after reading some of the reviews, they weren't kind. But I had a big party l, the accept reservations, and the menu looked very good and diverse. The appetizers were just fantastic!! Potstickers, delicious! And the spinach dip!!! Best I've ever had. The flavor was so creamy. It came with toasted bread that was perfectly cooked ! My mojito was so refreshing and paired well with the appetizers. The main dish for me was the lobster/shrimp stuffed ravioli. So delicious!! Creamy and delicious!! I ate everything on my plate.. lol my family also had nothing but amazing things to say about their meals. The perch was a sizable amount and so crispy and flavorful. Service was very slow. 2:00 PM on a weekday and not at all busy either. Good view of the water, Cole slaw is very good. Bread was tasty but hard to cut without a bread knife. We ordered chicken strips with sweet potato fries instead of regular fries and a "pike-perch" whatever THAT was. The chicken strips were both tough and rubbery - like trying to eat shoe leather. AND it was delivered with regular fries not what we'd ordered. When we finally got the sweet potato fries, they were burned black and basically inedible. My family has been coming up during the summer for years and we have a lot of found memories. Great view of the lake & the inside looks nice & brighter since their recent remodel. My last couple of experiences unfortunately haven't been the greatest. Food was good and they have a great variety. However several of us who ordered different things thought some of the flavors were lacking and somewhat bland. what has been worse is the service. Though we were seated right away because of a reservation, it was 15 minutes before a waitress even acknowledged us (after we complained several times to the hostess, other waitress & manager). Even after she did little to redeem herself and barely checked in on us. We were told she had another big table but still there were other waitresses and management & hostess need to do a better job about communicating and there rotation system. What's sad is this also happened on a previous visit where waitresses were openly complaining about having too many tables. I understand staffing issues being in the service myself but they need to learn how to work with what you got. Due to family nostalgia we will probably be back but not for a awhile. Hopefully they can work out staffing kinks. read more

This isn't a place we have gone back to after eating here maybe 5 times. Service isn't that great. Food is over priced and nothing that great. You are paying for the view of Lake StClair which is not important to us as we live on the lake. We prefer a place that serves good food at reasonable prices with good service. WHAT HAPPENED?? We have been dining at Bobby Mac's for many years now, and always look forward to going there for a delicious meal in a quiet setting with a beautiful view of Lake St. Clair. One of the things I love most about Bobby Mac's is the atmosphere; it is old fashioned, unpretentious, and quiet. You can hold a conversation while you're dining; there is no loud music playing, no one is bursting out into song around you, and the view of the lake is spectacular. We have always loved the food there, too. Their lobster mac and cheese is one of the best dishes I have had at any restaurant, and my favorite item on their menu... which they eliminated. Strike one; they took one of their most popular, best loved items off their menu. Why?? The lobster mac and cheese was delicious, and consistently prepared every time. They offer a lobster and shrimp ravioli, but not lobster mac and cheese. It makes no sense. Strike two; the dishes we ordered were all lackluster in their preparation. My wife and I ordered the exact same thing; the 8-ounce, center-cut sirloin. Our steaks were nowhere near the same size; mine was much thicker and larger than hers. Looking at them, you could see they did not weigh the same. Both steaks were overcooked. My son's girlfriend's mac and cheese was horrible. The pasta was cooked to DEATH. It was so mushy that it just dissolved in your mouth without the need to chew it. There is no excuse for any restaurant to serve mushy, overcooked pasta. The appetizer was awful as well. We ordered the crab Rangoon, and I have no doubt it was frozen, not made from scratch. It was also cold in the middle. Strike three; the service was abysmal. It was the oddest, most higgledy-piggledy service we have received in a restaurant. Someone came with bread, and took our drink order, then dropped the drinks off. Then our server arrived. She can claim the, "Most Inattentive & Forgetful Service Award". She took our order, and then disappeared. Someone brought our appetizer, and then FOUR MINUTES LATER our entrees were plopped on the table. We were all confused because no one got their soup or salad. Our server reappeared, and we told her about the soups and salads to which she replied laughingly, "Oh, I forgot them! My bad!!" I told her I did not want mine as my entree was already in front of me. When the soups did come, they were awful; the French onion was overly salty, and the tomato soup tasted like the sauce from a can of Spaghettios. GROSS! The salt in the wound came when we received the bill for our lackluster meal: $120.00! I've said it before, and I'll say it again a thousand times; I don't mind paying for a delicious meal, and great service. I very much resent paying a premium for a lackluster meal, and bad service. It wasn't just that the service was bad... it was apathetic; the servers were disinterested. I looked over and noticed them all standing together socializing. It was like they had come to work to hang out together, and serving tables was secondary. This did not happen, but I would not have been at all surprised to look over and see our server standing there looking at her phone. That is the type of distracted behavior I was observing in some of the staff that afternoon. Sadly, we will not be returning to Bobby Mac's... sad face. read more
