Started the night at Broadway and randomly stumbled here while walking around Printer alley. The vibe is different from the bars in Broadway, no live music (when I was there at least) and not overly crowded. I really liked how calm it was and you can have a conversation without yelling or getting real close to someone's ear. It's like an artists' bar, a lot of graffiti everywhere. I ended up getting the Jamo & Blonde special for $10. Really good deal. I highly recommend this spot if you want more of a lowkey night or if you want to pregame before hitting up Broadway or Printer alley. read more

Definition of a hidden gem! Our group of friends frequented this spot two nights in a row while in town for a wedding. Ironically, it had the perfect name as the boys would always hang out in the garage as teens. Our bartender was amazing! She kept our cups filled and had a cool attitude. The best part was the jukebox playing all the classic hits, a nice change of scenery from the country vibes. They even had live music on Saturday night. read more

I stumbled upon Bobby's Garage Bar while going up and down Printer's Alley during my last night in Nashville. It's weird to stay that I stumbled upon it because the bar is actually in the building of the Bobby Hotel where I was staying, but the entrance is on the lower level of the hotel so from this view I didn't realize it at first. Anyway, it looked fun inside and the commute back to my hotel was great, so I decided to check it out. Unlike the hotel it is housed in, Bobby's Garage has a super casual, almost grungy vibe. It's a small bar, though it has a decent amount of seating as well as a small stage for I assume musicians (because Nashville). What makes Bobby's stand out for me (and I assume most people) is the copious amount of graffiti that is littered everywhere. This is encouraged, as there are markers throughout the bar - and patrons have taken advantage of that as almost every surface area is covered in graffiti (you know I did it as well). That, combined with the neon-esque lighting gives to a really cool aesthetic. Outside of the looks, they have the usual bar offerings. We had a couple of rounds, and someone in my party noticed they carried Malört which I was coerced to taking a shot of (thanks I hated it). Staff was friendly - it wasn't crowded and we were able to have some great conversation with the bartender. Overall, I had a great time at Bobby's Garage - fun vibes, friendly staff, and good drinks. This was one of the highlights of Printer's Alley and worth stopping in. read more

We just had a terrible experience at the rooftop bar. We stopped up for a few drinks and a quick lunch. We figured it would be really quick since we were only one of two couples there. We ordered a$16 drink. Beef sliders , chicken fingers with fries ( for my dog) and onion rings. After waiting an hour I went to the bartender who asked what I ordered. Yup, we were the only ones who ordered food. His excuse was he was the only one there and forgot. Yes I did mention we were only one of two couples at the bar. No apology, no let me find out what happened. I paid for my $16 drink and left. We will not be going back, EVER nor would I recommend anyone else to go. read more

After coming for the crowded rooftop to the Garage Bar it really gave me room to strech out my arms and actually enjoy myself. With a super laid back atmosphere and intresting wall art/writing you can stay there all night! Nashville, come support your new(er) local bars. Yes, I'm calling a hotel bar a 'local bar.' In case you hadn't noticed* Nashville's become a hotel city and rather than cede the hotel scene to tourists, many hotels are crafting local restaurants, cocktail bars and lounges that should be capturing the attention and loyalty of locals. But even in this landscape, Bobby's Garage Bar stands out. Why? How? It's a bar. It's not a cocktail bar. It's not a lounge. It's a bar. Yes, it's in the basement of a fancy boutique hotel but, nevertheless, it's a bar. If the surroundings weird you out, enter the bar from the street rather than the hotel. Being a bar, there's not much to the decor. That's fitting. Most of the seating is at the bar, although there are a few, scattered, small tables. The aesthetic is concrete, chalk and red. You come here to drink or catch up with friends. You don't come here to be seen. With all the concrete, if there happens to be more than a few folks in the bar, it gets very loud -- all the better to come with a friend in search of booze and reconnection. I arrived to meet up with a friend I hadn't seen in seven months. When we arrived, there was a quiet two top in the corner. By the time we left, the place was full. I was glad to see it. The bar deserves patronage. Outside of the typical selections, this is a whiskey bar. Come here for local (as in, TN) spins on classics; the craft cocktail menu is all about the brown liquor. My Old Fashioned was potent, generously-portioned and just different enough (the orange) to make it interesting. At $14 a pop this isn't your dad's Nashville bar but it's (unfortunately) typical of downtown these days. Because man cannot live on booze alone (I've tried), we got some noshes. My buddy got the pimento cheese and chips (big portion; he couldn't finish) and I got the bacon and serrano ham fat popcorn. It's just as good as it sounds. It's also incredibly rich. I finished the bowl (duh) but I paid for it. Don't be a hero. Split it. The vibe and drink/food quality at Bobby's Garage Bar acquits it nicely from the 'just popped up' crowd. This is a bar that could stand on its own without the hotel advantage. I hope more locals find their way here. Before I end this review: shout out to our bartender, Esteff. In addition to making a great drink and being very friendly, she's a musician! If you're a fan of the Londoners-sing-R-&-B wave (Amy, Duffy, Estelle, Adele), you'll like her stuff. This bar is absolutely perfect for those of you that just want a laid back atmosphere and good music. I'm not really sure of the history of the bar, but it definitely seems like it used to be an actual parking garage, turned into a bar. With unfinished walls, spray paint and writing scribbled everywhere, and light up signs--it was a very cool vibe going on! There was a wide selection of draft and bottled beers, liquors, wines, and even a small food menu. We came to check out the Valentine's day themed bar that was called "the Broken Hearts club". Decor-wise it was a bit overwhelming. But I wasn't necessarily disappointed by it due to the dive-like atmosphere of the whole place. We came right after work and there was no one (which i loved), but by 6PM it was pretty packed with others that just got off work (which was also fun). There were TV's and a decent sized bar area, which plenty of seating. I ended up getting the Strawberry Fields Forever, and Cool Hand Cuke drinks. They were both good--but I was partial to the Cool Hand Cuke drink--it wasn't too sweet, and just enough sourness to be refreshing. It is a little confusing to find it if you don't know where you are going. I would recommend just asking a staff member when you get in. It's right passed the floor-level bar, to the right and down a staircase. This was a great place for an after work drink--I definitely recommend checking it out if you want something a bit low-key. read more

I've been coming to Bobby's for several years. Since it is close to where I live, I love walking to the Alley. The dive bar vibe is awesome, great rock-n-roll vibe with old school Juke Box. Great location and great bartender. The place reeks of cool, however, I'm not sure why but they have decided to have hip hop dj and music that doesn't go with current vibe....I like and respect some hip hop but it seems out of place. read more

This is a really cool undiscovered bar. This place used to be a bank and I think the bar tender said they've only been open a few weeks. It's got a really unique feel and the bartenders fit the theme. I liked watching everyone pass by the big windows that look into the alley. It's just a few blocks from Broadway and a real nice change up from the touristy honkey tonks. It was slow when we went in but I don't think it's been discovered yet. read more
