It sports a jukebox with a great song selection, foosball, pool table, darts, plus indoor and outdoor seating. (Including a covered patio). Mickey's is a no frills dive bar located on Gallatin that is comfortable in who they are and confident who they are not...and we love them for it! Mickey's is a spot that we now visit a couple times a month for after work drinks and sometimes a snack from the food truck in the back. A few things you will never find at Mickey's is a DJ, karaoke or live bands, but what you will find is a solid bar filled with good folks, well made and good priced drinks, an amazing back patio and beer garden along with a pool table and few other games. We often get a beer and/or a cocktail, head to the back and post up at a picnic table for a few hours and at some point enjoy the nachos they are slinging from the food truck. One thing that is equally impressive and confusing about Mickey's is how it honestly seems like two different places from inside to outside. Inside is a dark, grungy dive bar while outside is an open-air bright beer garden. You honestly can pick wherever is best based off of your mood that day, and I like it! Overall, Mickey's is a staple in the East Nashville scene for good reason. Glad to have this spot and we will certainly be back, lots. read more

For your listening pleasure. Mickey's is situated down the road from the Airbnb, maybe several home rentals and there's a strong assumption that the neighborhood is on the up. Regardless, we come into our own in the dark quiet of a bar. Upon entering it goes dark, and the dim lighting during the day makes one question if they're only going to be able to day for a drinking. It's the kind of bar where an undetermined amount of time can get out of hand. Pool and darts, all day, a juke box that lights up the afternoon, absolutely. I didn't want to go to dinner with my friends, I wanted to get lost at a dive in central Tennessee. I went to Mickey's based on a recommendation from my Uber driver who was taking me to Dee's Country Cocktail Lounge to see a band. So, after that I called Uber and went to Mickey's and it was great. I really like the inside of the bar and how it's laid out. I also enjoy it when a bar has very few or no windows and Mickey's hit the mark. The bartender made really good drinks and food for me. We used to smoke so it was perfect for it, now? Not so much but still a local and cool East Nashville dive bar to come grab a beer, some drinks and play some pool. Even though it's been a couple of years since my friends and I visited Mickey's, we still talk about this place! Looking for an amazing dive bar away from the overpriced hustle on Broadway, look no further! Stiff drinks, a friendly staff, dark, yet welcoming. Mickey's reminded me of hanging out in a friend's basement. I don't recall what day of the week we visited, but it was game show day! They were playing game shows all day on their TVs. Awesome! I'm in love, I'm in love and I don't care who knows it! Honestly this place is so damn cool...such a chill vibe! Old-school jukebox that's free with bartenders encouraging you to pick your favorites. No menu to speak of but let the staff tell you what's good to eat. A guy next to me was eating a sandwich that looked great! Full bar, back patio, CLEAN yet divey as hell and what a cast of characters you'll meet from all walks of life. Every time we come here, we meet someone else who's kind and just wants to shoot the shi*. I wish we lived closer as we'd be here nightly. When you need to get away from the stresses of life for a bit, this is your spot! (Cheers theme song playing...can you hear it?). First off the ambiance is badass. Exposed brick and dim lighting really set the vibe for a great local neighborhood spot to grab a brew or some food. The bartenders are super friendly and recommend a couple selections off their extensive beer menu. There's really something for everyone from ales, to wheats, sours and IPA's. Plus they carry a ton of local breweries! Overall 10/10 experience, and we will definitely be back once they start making their boozy milkshakes! read more

Was in East Nashville last weekend to check out Fox with some of my ladies. Stayed there for one drink, enjoyed it, but ended up going next door to Mickey's and loved it way more than Fox! Chill vibe. Great back porch. Bartenders are nice. Cheap drinks. But the real star of the show is the bouncer, who was so cool fun to chat with. I don't know that it's fair (or, accurate) to call Mickey's a 'dive.' It's clean. The bartenders are incredibly nice (and much more patient than I would be considering some of the folks I saw belly up to the bar). There's a bunch of highfalutin brown liquor behind the bar. It's clean (needs to be said again). I wouldn't associate any of these qualities with a dive. Perhaps 'tavern' truly *is* the best way to describe it. Or, 'neighborhood bar.' That's a good description. Despite living in Nashville for a while (if you count both of my stints), I'd never made my way to Mickey's. To be fair, I didn't live at all close to the bar, it's a neighborhood spot and, for the longest, unless you lived on the east side, you didn't come here. So, I was well aware of what Mickey's was but I'd never experienced it for myself. I don't know that I was properly sold on hat Mickey's truly is. It's none of the things I listed above. What it is is a really comfortable neighborhood bar with nice folks, a pool table, video games, low lights, plenty of seating, a deck, lots of wood, NO SMOKING, a fantastic selection of brown liquors, and bartenders who aren't afraid of a stiff pour (tip accordingly). There's also craft beer but its presence here sort of makes me bristle so I am ignoring that. I enjoyed a whiskey and coke as well as a gin drink made with (I believe) Irish gin and magic. The bartender mentioned its name and ingredients but I just sort of nodded and smiled. And, drank. I understand how and why time can stop at Mickey's. There aren't a bunch of bells and whistles to distract you. Y'see, back in olden times, folks went to a bar to drink, hang out with friends or just sit over some booze while you took in your thoughts or reveled in the relative silence. These bars used to take root in every neighborhood so no matter where you lived, you could partake in the ritual. It's a nice reminder of what used to be. I didn't notice any regulars while I was here. I'm hoping that's because of the off time/day. It would be a shame if the East Hill OGs who lived here before gentrification took root are no longer welcome at their own bar. Mickey's has grown from its 'neighborhood bar' origins and turned into an east side destination bar with stiff drinks, pool, video games, and that guy. I'm choosing to believe that the OGs were doing something else and that they haven't been chased out by 'that guy.' read more

Lately when we visit Nashville we typically go with a group and find an Air BnB in East Nashville which has quickly evolved over the last few years into a hotspot of it's own. No, it's not near the popular Broadway area about four miles away, but there are plenty of good places to chill and eat. We came to Mickey's on the advice of two different Uber drivers who said it was their favorite bar in Nashville (I imagine the locals are pretty much over the whole insane, drunken, commercial, tourist-fest on the other side of the river). Mickey's is a classic dive bar and has a great happy hour. When we were there, happy hour included 2 for 1 drinks and I believe their "well" bourbon during happy hour is Buffalo Trace (which is a personal favorite). Even when it isn't happy hour their drinks are a lot cheaper than on Broadway where you will likely pay about $7 for a domestic 12 ounce beer. They have pool, darts, foosball, a great juke box, and an awesome collection of well curated bourbons and beers if you're into that sort of thing. It was a smoke free environment which might turn some people off but is awesome for me, and you can get food to take in from the restaurant right next door. The Bottom line: Mickey's is an excellent little neighborhood dive bar and probably one of the best kept secrets in Nashville. If you want to get away from the crowds and lunacy downtown, enjoy great happy hour deals and good service, head here. read more

No nonsense neighborhood bar that is non-smoking. It's fabulous! The non-smoking aspect is seriously fantastic, don't worry though, they have a really great outdoor area that is smoker friendly. You can even smoke and play cornhole. Inside they offer darts, pool, and maybe foosball? I can't remember. The inside is just as one might imagine, it's clean without a lot of detail. The bar, however, has a nice back to it and is pleasing to the eye. It reminds me a lot of a city bar mostly because of it's shape. Bars in NYC, SF, etc are long and narrow just because that's the way the city has been built. You walk in and the bar is on the left, seating is one the right. Bathrooms are towards the back. If you live in the area and want to grab a few drinks I would definitely recommend Mickeys Tavern. It will absolutely pop into our regular rotation, especially if we grab dinner at El Jaliciense. read more

Incredible vibes at Mickey's. Damn-near impossible to locate but once you do, special stuff. Very low-maintenance dive bar cigarettes & darts vibes. Also a lot of "I wanna get my degenerate sh*t on but at my own pace" vibes. 16oz cans of Bud heavy - sheesh! Pool table, old arcade games. TV so small you gotta squint. Impossible to find parking. We stopped by this place since it was close to our Air BnB on an early Saturday afternoon and it was 2 for 1 happy hour! We were the only ones there at the time but we were ok with that! Me and a few friends dropped by later that night to come back to the bar being pretty packed, a different experience for sure! Thing is, their happy hour (2 for 1 draft, etc) is SUCH a deal. Amazing local joint. So happy I stumbled across it. The place is dark and shady looking, be warned, but this is a place for drinking and revelries. Yes, it's a dive but a good one. The redheaded bartender was outstanding. She was so friendly and interested in why we were in town. The prices -- even for the Old Rip Van Winkle whiskey and other allocateds -- were outstanding. Their outdoor space in the right weather is a solid 5 and my first choice for a drink- even though I tend to prefer fancy cocktails. I found myself at Mickey's on a Monday night for a friend's birthday. After doing some research on Yelp, I knew that Mickey's was a dive bar so my expectations weren't extremely high. I love dive bars but you kind of know what to expect. Mickey's is located right next to Walden and The Fox if you are familiar with those. There is some free parking in the area and we were lucky enough to catch a spot after a few laps around the lot. There is a bigger lot that I think is $2/hr which isn't bad at all. From the outside, Mickey's looks like a black cement box. It's old school. The neon sign in the small window made it all. It says "This is it". It made me laugh because when driving up I actually asked "Is this it?" and yep, this is it. When walking in, it looks like your typical small dive bar. The bar is to the left and then there are some tables to the right. I saw a Foosball table, pool table, and then some darts in the back. We went up to the bar to order our drinks and the bartender was really friendly. I just got a draft beer so I didn't look too extensively at the drink options. I think it was just the usual cheap beers on draft and then more bottles and cans in the cooler. It was a nice night and we noticed they had a back patio. There was a deck right out back and then stairs that went out to a larger patio area. I was surprised to see how busy this place was on a Monday night. By 10:00, most of the tables were full. Goes to show that you can go out any day of the week in Nashville and have a good time! We sat at a picnic table and it was great. There is no smoking inside but you can smoke outside. It was a fun relaxed night just sipping on some beer and talking with friends. Mickey's is nothing fancy and it doesn't pretend to be.
