New to town, and I heard this was a place to go and they were in a new location. So I logged on line and ordered to-go. Simple easy. Even asked what car I had, liking this already. Though they did not have, or I missed a way to pay so it could be truly easy and fast and simple. Got the text l, another cool feature, and the estimated time the food would be ready. I got their a few minutes early and drove into al lot with no directions re call in, online etc. Lots of folks milling around. Got out go in and a line, sort of, but everyone was good social distance and wearing masks. All good. Waited waited waited...now 15 minutes past the estimated time, but they were busy! So, I call and check in, and met with a very cheerful voice who told me my order was "next". Four orders later and a another 15..I get my food. Please and all packaged. Got home and are. Chicken salad was bland and tomato was a green house and not appetizing. Cobb salad plentiful but cold cuts, a couple small pieces of bacon and a little half egg..but onion, so much onion. Bought two soups, tried one, the beef barley tasty. Oh, I guess they forget the chips I ordered. So this really should be a 2 but they were pleasant, online was good, hoping they do well as they work on the service process. read more

This was my first time at Bobettes since they moved to their new location on Gulf Street. I had been wanting to try it for a while. I ordered their award winning Mussel Chowder and I was not disappointed. I also tried the Turkey Bacon Panini and it was also delicious. The dill sauce made the panini. The awesomes cupcakes were a great end to my meal. The portion sizes were good for the price of the food. My one criticism was their online ordering system was kinda of a mess and couldn't accept online payments at this time. I also had to wait 15 minutes past the time the system said my order would be ready to get my food. The staff was very friendly and apologetic about the wait and work to fulfill dozens of orders simultaneously. It was worth the wait. I look forward to returning and trying other soups and sandwiches. read more

I came here about 2 weeks ago to try their soup, I'd been trying to get here for a while but it's difficult because they close at 3:30pm. I made it just in time. I decided to get the half sandwich and small soup special. (Chicken orzo) The sandwich I got was the dill turkey, they forgot to put my soup in the bag even though I paid for it. Lame!! I should have checked the bag but come on, it's a soup place!! My mom got a grilled cheese with bacon. My choc chip cookie was nothing special. Only take out, no tables to eat in. This place is a little pricy for what it is but my sandwich was pretty good. Went to Bobette's in their new location because I wanted to do a soup and salad for lunch. Decided on their Caesar salad with chicken and the chicken orzo soup. I will say the soup is pretty solid. Full of ingredients, lots of body, and definitely has the homemade taste. Crackers were 100x better than anything in the store. The salad was just ok. The lettuce was fresh, there was some parmesan cheese on top, the dressing was just not good. Much too runny and had that vinegar flavor. If you're going to only make one dressing in house, it's got to be Caesar. It just needs that homemade taste. There wasn't much chicken either. It just didn't feel like an $9 salad. Overall it was ok, service was friendly, everyone was social distanced and wearing masks like you'd expect. I'll go back there for soups and probably give a sandwich a try. read more

A gem in the area and their current location is a big improvement over the old one. The soups...the sandwiches...the desserts...everything here is awesome! My favorite soups are the drunk tomato tortellini and chicken orzo. The BLT and meatball subs are excellent too but really you can't go wrong here, can't say enough good things about it. The delivery option is excellent too if you are in their area. When my wife and I got COVID we got soup delivered every day and it was huge toward helping us feel better and not have to leave the house. read more

I've been ordering here for a while. And until recently, I really enjoyed the food. The last time I ordered the Chicken Orzo soup, it was tepid and lacked flavor. Today I ordered for delivery, the Italian Wedding soup (I ordered a regular size having learned that a small is literally for a toddler). The soup was good. However, everything from the bag to the napkins smelled like it had been housed in an airtight room with a chain-smoker. Truly gross. I will not be ordering from there again. read more

I used to come here quite frequently when I was in the area on a frequent basic. They are small and are really a take out place. I used to get lunch from here. Positive..the food. I don't know what spices they use but they still remain the best place in my mind to get a chicken sandwich. Their chicken has such a distinctive taste, one that has never been replicated at least for me. Suffice to say the food is a 10. I have not been there in awhile but the thing that bothered me when I did go is that people did not wear gloves to prepare the food. Normally that would be a deal breaker for me but their food is so good I went anyway. But that was a biggie and it bothered me. It's been awhile so maybe that's changed. I'll start with the positives: service is always fast and friendly, location is convenient, soups are homemade (they always have at least 5 different types available) and prices are fair. I've been getting lunch here for the past few years, but its certainly not my top pick. Everything I've had is just okay, nothing has really wowed me. My recent visit the lobster bisque was much too thick. The grilled cheese was also just average. All their breads are store bought as I have seen the bags on their counter. The corned beef soup on St. Patty's day is one thing I look forward to, just wish I didn't have to wait all year for it. Their parking is also a bit annoying. They are located on a corner lot and there are no designated spaces, just an open unmarked area. Often I park in a straight line but when get back to my car to find it surrounded by other cars parked in all different directions. Lastly, their ordering/paying system is a bit unorganized and chaotic. Once you order everyone awkwardly just stands around. There's not enough room for a line to be formed so walking in when its busy is like a guessing game of who's ahead of you. Maybe a number system would be the way to go. read more

I love it! Coming from san francisco in which chowders are so popular, this place exceeded my expectations. Their good is so good that I want to try all their chowder. I ordered a ham and cheese panini as well and it's so yummy! The food is so cheap but the quality isn't! I love all our order. We had a mussel and cream of broccoli chowder, grilled cheese with tomatoes and bacon, ham and cheese panini, chips and root beer float, all these for only $19.90! Awesome! On 6/26 my wife picked up a $13 mussel chowder. We got home 20 minutes away to find there were no mussels in the chowder. Being the next day and to far to drive and risk COVID, I figured I'd call and let them know what had happened so they could ensure it doesn't happen to someone else. On 7/3, my wifes father who lives in Milford ordered a take out mussel chowder only to find there were again no muscles. My family and I have been going here consistently for a long time. The food is fantastic! Great sandwiches and even better soup. I have to say that it is their service that is driving us away. I'm not exaggerating when I say that they get our order wrong more often than not. From missing items, wrong items or wrong size soup to making substitutions without asking the customer (sandwich made on a hard roll rather than a wrap because, I assume, they ran out of wraps). What a lovely find! I stumbled across Bobette's after passing an exam. I thought I would treat myself to a sandwich and a hot soup after scrambling out of the door that morning. Service: The people there are so incredibly kind and friendly! Very genuine people who clearly care about their customers. Food: I got their award-winning mussel chowder and it was deliciously creamy and flavorful with whole mussels in the soup! The panini however, was soggy by the time I brought it home...I think I stick withe the soups and a cold cut sandwich next time! I can't wait to try the rest of their soups! Ambience/Parking: The place is small and has a homey feel to it. It's meant to be a pick up and go kind of place. Parking confused me though. It just seems to be a small lot with unmarked spaces. As much as I wanted to like it, I just couldn't get myself to eat it- the flavoring was totally off and at least half of the container was bread. My husband and I had Covid and one of our friends was sweet enough to drop off 4 different soups from Bobette's. They were Corn Chowder, Lentil, Beef Barley, and Chicken Orzo. Each one of them was delicious. She got us a pint of each one so for 4 days we were able to share a different one for lunch. Definitely the highlight of our days! We were so happy with them that now that we're feeling better, I just called and ordered 4 more for this week. It's so easy, too! You can even order on line and choose the time for pickup! Ok. For those of you that don't know me I used to own Corporate Deli downtown Bridgeport. I don't post many reviews because quite honestly I am a tough critic. I am almost impossible to please when it comes to food. So with that said I stumbled upon this little gem of a place in Milford. I have been drooling over their simple menu and their story for 3 days. What caught my eye or should I say my growling stomach was that it's owned by a couple who are so passionate about their cooking and their food. They have been in business for 28 years. They home make everything. Reminded me of me. If it was half as good as I was hoping for I'd be thrilled. It was not only half as good, it was damn near close to my style of cooking. Which As I said earlier is near impossible for me to find. I ordered Chicken Orzo, Sweet With heat Chili, Cream Of Broccoli & Cheddar Cheese, Ground Beef Barley & their famous Mussel Chowder. Well I can tell you that one soup was better than the next. Every soup was delicious. Waiting to take a bite loaded with salt, or all potatoes and no mussels or all broth and no guts. Or watery ridiculously spicy chili. Well it never happened. Each spoonful was DELICIOUS made with fresh ingredients and NOT loaded with salt. If you like soup, this small gem of a place owned by Bobette & Gary is your place. You will not be disappointed. They have Specials every day that you can view on their webpage. I had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners Gary as he was the "delivery boy". I have also wore that hat many of times in my own business. Why? Because you have too. Because you should, because you are proud of your product. I had customers always tell me how great it was to have the owner deliver their food. Well I can now see what they mean. I work right near Bobettes and today it was just too cold to go out for lunch pickup. Found out this place (very highly hyped locally) delivers for any order over $15 .. which isn't hard since they're not cheap. 2 of us had the Tortellini soup .. for $4.95 you get a very small cup ... definitely not worth it. Thin and watery with about 8 slimy soft tortellini floating around in a sea of green plankton or spinach or something. I ordered the Daily Chicken Special (supposed to be breaded chicken cutlet with sliced pepperoni, mozz and sauce on a sub roll) ... what I got for $7.25 .. was non breaded chicken and one thin slice of pepperoni and a little cheese .. and no sauce! The girl told me they were outta sauce when I ordered .. but how can you make up a Daily Special out of something you don't have ? The bread was that nasty spongy soft stuff u get in a twist tie bag in the supermarket. The sandwiches were small, the soups were small .. just so not worth all the Milford hype. The only reason they got 2 stars was because of the quick delivery, but I just don't see us going back. read more

Just about everyone I know loves Bobette's so maybe I've just caught them on "off" days. I've tried their mussel chowder, it was extremely thick, salty and fatty. Their signature chicken pot pie - basically seemed like it had an entire can of creamed mushroom soup in it - extremely thick, fatty and unhealthy. I've also tried a salad, it was bare and the dressing wasn't wonderful. I think that I'd much rather eat a healthier meal than be left feeling as though I need to run for 3 hours after eating a tiny cup of chowder. read more
