Been going here for over a decade.. not sure why it took me so long to write a few words about this great diner 'dining experience'. The food is delicious, so many healthy options, offers vegan, gluten free, dairy free food with a flare.. farm to table meals. They catered an event that I attended. They gave a buffet along with a cheese, fruit and cracker table. I ate the black grapes and strawberries. Both were sweet and delicious. From the buffet I ate the chicken Florentine, roasted potatoes, and roasted vegetables. Everything was tasty . They supplied to waitresses to help with the Buffet and they pick up the dishes after we ate. They also made sure the food was plentiful in the Buffet line. They were easy to work with and gave a fair price. read more

**Great GF wraps and a salad bar - unsure of cross contamination. Haven't been here in a while, but nothing has changed. Except the addition for gluten free wraps which were awesome. I was so excited to the sign that I ended up ordering the wrong sandwich ... why did I get the grilled chicken mozz and honey mustard? There's too many other good sandwiches to order! The salad bar is KEY. It has everything you can imagine, but be careful. It's weighed at the end of the for cost. We ate inside because it was hot - plenty of seating inside. A good amount of tables outside on the side walk. Friendly, quick service. And in a great location to walk around town! This is my second time checking out shoreline cafe. After having a pedicure nearby I started getting hungry so figured I'd get something to take home. I'm a sucker for a good chicken cutlet, and the chicken cutlet sandwich did not disappoint. I opted for mine on a hard roll with L,T,O and Mayo. The cutlet was well seasoned and most importantly still juicy (hate when all dried out) for my side I opted for macaroni salad (other options were fries and coleslaw). I was a little worried it was going be like that stuff in tubs from the deli which I'm not a fan of. Surprisingly the mac salad was great and definitely homemade. 0 star I have been coming to Shoreline for years and have never experienced such rude customer service. One of the women (shown in picture) has been nothing but rude to my sister and i multiple times now. Gives dirty looks since she recognizes us because we used to be loyal customers. NOW never again. I'm not sure if she owns the place or is a minimum wage worker who takes the job way too seriously. She is rude about NOTHING, and i can't keep quiet about it. I'll be waiting in line ready to pay and instead of helping me and the line behind she answers the phone and takes an order instead of placing them on hold. The owner hit my car while it was parked outside his business. I love their salad bar so I got a salad and was about to pay for my salad when someone came in and told me he hit my car. I confronted him he denied it till I told him someone saw it and we looked at it and I said can you at least make my salad free, he shouted in the door for my salad to be free then took off in his unregistered truck and the police originally wanted to press charges for evading but then the police officers supervisor basically said my salad was my payment. I didn't even want to press charges. I just wanted a new bumper, I said we didn't even need to go through insurance. I don't want to ruin his business I just want him to take responsibility. read more

We were lucky to find a spot to park on the street right in front but it is on a semi-busy street so parking could be tricky. This is order at the counter, take your ticket, sit and get the food. You pay after. They have drink coolers with many options. And the menu is up on the wall behind the counter. I decided to get the philly steak. My friends all got different sandwiches (BLT, Buffalo chicken, chicken cordon bleu, and my nephew got chicken tenders). First, you get A LOT of food. The sandwiches are full. I barely could finish mine. It was pretty good - a bit greasy and the fries were just okay. I wish i would've gotten a different side which they had other options like cole slaw or potato salad for example. Service is sort of non-existent so don't expect a ton in that area. All and all, I enjoyed the sandwich I had for lunch but not enough to come again. read more

One of my favorite places around the Branford Green! A friend brought me here to try their salad bar and I was super happy with the options offered! I'm a big fan of salad bars, but I prefer to stay away from the fairly simple ones you would find at a Ruby Tuesday's! This restaurant was far from it! With house-made croutons and slices of sweet potato as options, how could one resist? The other items on their menu are just as delicious and are worth what you pay! The best part about Shoreline is the short walk to the green! In the summer, nothing is better to me than grabbing some food and sitting in the outdoors to enjoy it -- and with Shoreline I do just that! Happened to go 2 days in a row on 10/2 and 10/3 because we went to the book fair on the green both days.....and the first day was our first time here. If we hadn't gone the 2nd day, I would have rated this place a 5 star all the way. First day we had a cheeseburger, fries, Turkey and cheese on a GF wrap w/ Cole slaw. Everything was spot on, delicious and fresh. Indoor and outdoor seating was very comfortable and roomy. BTW, the omelets and home fries looked incredible. The 2nd day, we decided to try the salad bar...bit of a mistake. Everything looked and tasted fresh. We were a little turned off about the messy salad dressing containers with no lids and really turned off by the price. We had two average sized salads...nothing to crazy. price came to $36. Our meals with drinks the day before was only $31. A lady next to us went to pay for her salad and it cost $26. I thought she was about to cry. DO NOT get salads here...big bowls and heavy ingredients will bankrupt you. First day was a 5 star. Second day was a 3 star. I highly recommend it here, just not the salad bar. read more

Food may be "good", BUT they force feed you into what they want to serve. Order by # only, really. Terrible customer service and NOT accommodating in any way! You will pay for something you don't want at a really expensive price. No digital payments, no choice to customize what you want = bad choice of restaraunt. Another great local spot. The shrimp caesar wrap (substitute chicken for shrimp) is crave-worthy! Chicken tenders are also popular with my son. The coleslaw and macaroni salad sides are delicious. Prices can be a little on the higher side, but the quality is worth it. read more

This location just changed hands and came back better and tastier. I went the other day and had a Turkey club, Yum! The new dining area and dsplay cases all were very well laid out with much more room for patrons than the previous establishment. I will go back to try something else soon! read more

Sounds like other reviewers had mediocre sandwiches and waited longer than they wanted to, but the items I have always ordered have been great. I usually get a dinner plate (salmon with rice or whatever special they have) or the turkey BLT, which I recommend splitting with a friend because it's giant! If you don't have time to wait around for your order, they also have a nice salad bar. Sometimes they have a delicious shrimp cerviche that you can take home, among the various pasta salads, desserts, and other ready-made items on display. If you do decide to order from the menu, keep in mind they are make-to-order dishes. If you want your food ready in a few minutes (aka: microwaved), then a Wendy's might be a better choice for you. Lastly, I'd like to mention the ambience is quite nice, with tasteful music playing in the background, good natural lighting, and plenty of tables by the window. That is all. read more

It's hard to put into words the thoughts and emotions I have towards shoreline. For the longest of times, I loved shoreline. Ask anyone! I would recommend shoreline to anyone and everyone:) The fries would just melt in my MOUTH!!! But, things change. they are so so so inconsistent!! Anddd the fries always stick to the styrofoam. Who wants to eat styrofoam?!? I know I don't !!! Not to mention, I got a gift card from a friend, the gift card didn't work. I've walked past here dozens of times without ever getting food here mostly because it doesn't look super exciting inside, but a friend recently suggested going here for lunch and I'm glad I finally got a chance to try it. It's certainly not fancy, but it's a good deli with huge portions. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad that was humongous and really tasty. I only wished my stomach would have allowed me to fit more than half of that huge salad. I can't speak to their sandwiches, but the wrap my friend ordered looked great and she says they also have an excellent salad bar. While I may not become a regular, I'd definitely go back for a quick meal or a salad to go. read more

We've become regulars here since it reopened as Shoreline Café, and we love it. We come pretty frequently to the salad bar for dinner. It's been a bit easier to eat healthy since they opened, since we can come here and get a really fresh salad with lots of options for dinner. I've also come here a few times for breakfast sandwiches, and they make the best bacon, egg, and cheese in the area, hands down. The other sandwiches are good, including the eggplant parm and the tuna melt. Their chicken cutlets are awesome, so go for any sandwich with them or add it chopped to your salad. The prosciutto they use in some sandwiches is cut too thick for my taste, but that's really the only complaint I can make about the food here. The staff is friendly and the food comes out fast. I'm utterly mystified by some of the other reviews, especially the lady with the thinly veiled racism about the Mexican music. It's always cheesy soft jazz when we're here anyway. They learn your name if you come in more than a few times, which really makes it feel like a nice neighborhood place, and Wilson, the owner, also owns Common Grounds up the street. Food was a bit slow coming out but it was delicious. The interior is nice and there is outside seating that is right on main street. I had a turkey cranberry sauce wrap with fries and my husband had the chicken parm sub with coleslaw. Both were wonderful. The kids had a grilled cheese and macaroni salad. We love this place. We come here probably once a weekend. It's family friendly. Nice staff. Great food. Big portions. There are always specials which are excellent. They do tend to repeat over the course of a month or two. I like the burritos and the grilled chicken sandwiches which are massive. The regular menu is also solid, yummy and pretty diverse for brunch. I'm fond of the burgers and the omelets personally. Never done the salad bar but that is extremely popular. They do catering as well. Again we haven't tried it but everything looks yummy. read more

This place does not have hot tea. Just coffee. How can you not have tea? There are many people in the world that can't drink coffee or just does not like coffee. I have seen people walk in, start to order and walk out when they are told there is no tea. They serve mediocre food. They think if they give you large portions you won't know the food is not that good. The scrambled eggs are extremely dry. My husband and I spend many summer evenings in Branford and find the food at Shoreline to be delicious and perfectly cooked. We have NEVER had a worker there serve us anything other than what we've ordered, prepared the way we've requested it. The wait can be a bit lengthy but well worth it for their delicious food! We have also had occasion to eat breakfast there. They serve the largest omelette I have ever seen..... it serves as my lunch as well. I love this place! I started working in Branford a few months ago, and recently discovered this as my new lunch spot. I literally have eaten here 5x a week for the past 3 weeks. Their menu is huge, which is good when you don't want the same thing everyday. I also love that they have a salad bar, with everything from roasted asparagus to sweet potatoes. I'm a regular here. It's a place to get just-a-smidge-above-diner food for cheap-as-a-diner prices. All the food here tastes okay, but it kind of all tastes the same. The Specials board is basically full of the same normal sandwiches they sell with a new, undetectable garnish. Usually this place is passable for what it is. Today, we ordered a burger. It took nearly a half an hour to come, and was so sloppily sliced in half that one side of the burger literally had no bottom bun, and the whole thing just fell apart when you tried to eat it. After the 3rd time I swore I was not going to bother ordering from here again but my coworkers talked me into 1 more chance. Nope I should have gone with my gut. My order was totally wrong. I ordered roast beef with American cheese and mayonnaise on a hard roll. I got roast beef, American cheese horseradish lettuce and tomato on a hard roll. So disappointed. Will not try again. read more
