Via emails I was told by Karen the price would be "$475-$525". However, after the owner arrived the price was changed to $600.00 making the actual price $75-125 higher. That was disappointing because it turned out to be a "bait and switch". When he completed the work I wanted to see the door functioning and it did, and so I paid him accordingly. But within one (1) day I realized the unit squeaked like hell. So I used some lubricant everywhere I could find a joint and that helped. But it still squeaks. Is that on the Menards door OR the installation? I had to conclude Herb's Door Service should have lubricated the door as part of the installation. Lets face it we home owners/consumers cannot think of everything and that's a reason to hire professionals, so they take care of the details. With a little help from someone I could have installed the door myself as there are surprisingly good videos on YouTube showing step by step instructions. If I had it to do over I would have hired someone else. Herb's Door Service came in with the lowest price, but upon arrival it became a "bait and switch" AND he should have lubricated the joints. I cannot recommend them.

My LiftMaster garage door was giving me a message error of forced opening. It would open about 8 inches and stop. Lights were blinking and an error code would be displayed on the panel, it would do this occasionally and sporadically. Aaron, owner of A.S.A.P Garage Door Repair saw my post and called me. Aaron stated "it was the weather stripping that was causing the problem" (I had pictures in my post). Aaron said he could fix it for me with new weather stripping. I had a good experience with this company this morning and I wanted to share. I hadn't used them…read morebefore, but they are local which I like, and the reviews I found were positive. My electric garage door was jammed and I called them yesterday afternoon, and spoke to Nathan, the owner who was personable and straightforward. He showed up this morning promptly at 8, as agreed. He assessed the situation, found the reason for the malfunction, and also pointed out some other important issues that needed to be addressed. Nathan quoted me a price, which I thought reasonable, and he got to work. One of these issues was the mounting bracket where the apparatus attaches to the door. There was a cheap little bracket there, which was the wrong part for this door. He ended up installing a heavy duty bracket, which looked much more suitable for a door of this weight. He also put new and stronger brackets that hold the motor up. What was there before was too lightweight for this application. He fixed what he said he would, and also did some other extra things like cleaning up the loose wires from the original installation. He lubed the door thoroughly and now the door operation is much quieter! He was also very forthcoming with maintenance tips and explaining how the door works. Nathan is obviously quite skilled, and he's also a nice guy, and I'm so glad I picked Black Oak for this work! I encourage others in our community to use this great local source for their garage door needs!
