Instead I spoke with them directly and I was scheduled in for the following Monday with a precise window between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. I asked for a ballpark and he was way lower than I expected! I was going to compare quotes from several companies and completely misunderstood that today's visit wasn't a confirmation of the estimate given, but the actual repair service! Another company quoted me around $340 for the repair of my 2 broken springs AND mentioned an additional $150 for the replacement of my cables and brackets. Today, Ryan from Safe Smart Overhead Door replaced my springs, reinforced an area, and fixed the slacked cables for $315!! Which is a very fair price. And my garage door opens and closes properly (been having some issues with the sensors for a while. We talked about the cables and brackets and he was honest about how they are rusty but aren't that bad and probably wouldn't give out for a decent while. Despite the small miscommunication on my end, I'm very happy with the service. He was nice, quick, and answered all my questions (even the curious ones). All done in an hour. 10/10 read more

Most importantly, the job was done, it was done right, and it was done quickly. And I very much appreciate them providing an option to repair my door rather than replace it, when I assumed replacement would be needed. That said, the service along the way was not a 5 star experience. Despite coming out and inspecting the doors before giving me a price, once they had started the job, they found more work that was required, of course at a higher cost than what they had quoted. Obviously by that point, we had no choice but to pay for the additional work. After they completed the work I had to clean up after them, they left trash throughout the garage, piles of dust from when they sawed the tracks, and even a large screw that could've damaged a tire if I hadn't found it. There were other minor annoyances, but I don't want to pile on since I never want to hurt someone's ability to do business. They did get the job done, so you won't go wrong using them. You just might not get the full 5 star experience, unless I just happened to catch them on a bad day. read more

We had Safe Smart Overhead Door look at our garage doors. Our one-car door opener wasn't working at all. Safe Smart said we needed a new opener. In this case they installed a LiftMaster opener which included a new rail and chain. Our double--car door was stopping on the way down. It was frustrating because when you wanted to go out, we used the remote in the car, and the door would stick midway, but not always. In this case, Safe Smart recommended switching the sensors. Before we had Safe Smart come to our home, we asked about pricing for openers. The price they quoted on the phone was exactly the same as the price we were charged. The bracket that secured the opener to the garage door ripped away from the door and the spring of my garage door managed to snap. Not sure how this all happened but it needed to be fixed. After a quick Yelp search, came across Safe Smart Overhead Door. They had serviced my garage at a previous home and I was happy with them at that time. I called them on a Friday at 6:30PM. They answered and gave me a 2-hour window that they come out the next day (Saturday). They called on Saturday when they were 20 minutes out and arrived within the window they gave me. Inspector came, found a problem with the "safety down force" and a crack in the bottom panel of the door. We needed a service call PRONTO to get this fixed. We had a problem with the safety sensor on our garage. John came out as scheduled. He was very professional, investigated the problem and quoted the work before starting. I mentioned some excess noise and he walked me through some maintenance items that would be performed as part of a typical tune-up. Based on his recommendation, we ended up replacing the sensor and rollers as well, which includes the tune-up steps. The price for parts was close to what I would pay and I didn't have to do the work! John completed the work quickly and thoroughly. The doors are so much quieter than before! Iam not sure why strange things happen on a Monday! I was totally absent minded and backed my car into the garage door and obviously damaged the bottom panel of our garage door, right in front of my wife who was looking at me in disbelief. I quickly went upstairs and grabbed the safesmart coupon i saved from valpak, called them and a gentleman answered the phone and was very polite and got a tech down within an hour. John, the tech, quickly started working on the door and got it fixed in about an hour. Its back working again with no need for a new panel. Iam glad I called these guys. Great service! Called at 3:30 PM and Rob was at my house before 7:00 PM. Replaced the spring and two bearings. Also lubed and straightened a bent piece of track. Rob was really great and very helpful. He wanted the door to open as smooth as possible before he left. It is much smoother now than it has ever been in the 10 years we've lived in this house. On Sunday 11/17, the coil of my garage door snapped along with one of the cables. I called Safe Smart Overhead Door on Sunday indicating I would like to schedule an appointment for the following day if feasible. A rep from the business called me back within 30 minutes and provided an estimate of $200.00 that included the coil, cables and labor. An appointment was scheduled for the 11 to 1 time frame. On the day of the appointment, I received a phone call from a rep at 11:15 indicating that John was on his way and would be to my house in 15 minutes. Sure enough, John arrived within the 15 minutes. He indicated the fix would take about 30 minutes but in reality he was done within that 30 minutes. John replaced the cables and coil. In addition he greased parts of the tracking system to decrease the noise. He was very pleasant, friendly and professional. I will definitely call Safe Smart Overhead Door if needed and recommend them to anybody who asks. I had called two other garage repair businesses on Sunday as well. One returned my call too late in the day and the other one located in Libertyville has not responded with a call back yet. Safe Smart Overhead Door won because of their fast response. Cold weather strikes! Garage door opener, which has been touchy decides that it's way too cold to work -- so time for a replacement. Called the company who had done work on the doors previously -- no response after two calls. So who do I turn to? Fellow Yelpers! And wow, were they right. 5 Stars consistently is hard to come by, but Safe Smart really deserves the rating. First, talked to Brandon -- he wanted to educate me on what the latest products were, prices, and what they could and could not do. He even told me where to find a good deal on an opener on my own. No pressure to buy anything. Of course, had to discuss with Husband, and he had more questions, so he talked to Brandon. Brandon wasn't working that day, but they tracked him down and he called us back within a very short time period. Didn't expect that. So we bought the unit, and called for an install appointment. John was very prompt, installed the unit in the freezing cold, ran me through the fine points of operation and was off. And he put all the recycle in a box for me. No mess to clean up. Fantastic service, no pressure, very easy to talk to, and they really want you to know ahead of time what you're looking at for costs and what your options are.
