I bought a pair of sunglasses that I still have to this day. I miss the location in VB Town Center. It was one of the best, especially when it had the Rockwall. An employee named Darren ran the Rockwall almost 20 years ago and he works at the Lynnhaven Dicks store in the shoe department. My daughter needed new shoes for a camping trip and Darren, as usual was awesome! Lots of great knowledge and advice and patience. She found some New Balance that was perfect and the right price. Darren's customer service skills are unmatched and I'm so glad that he was there to help us. The chain carries a lot of name brands like Adidas, Nike and Hoka's. The overall store in my opinion has not been as strong, but the selection has been every bit as good. They like others have cut back on staff and it can be challenging to get help when shopping. Customer service is not nearly what it used to be. When checking out the cashier was downright not friendly. So this four-star is much more about a single experience with Darren than the overall store experience through the years. If you need some shoes, ask for Darren.

We laugh, challenge each other, and somehow sneak in a pretty serious upper-body and core workout while we're having fun. Customer support if you are shipping is hit or miss, we ordered online and went to pick up only to find it was canceled. They had a similar backpack there and we ended up just getting that one. I also really appreciate the special sports camps they host. We recently participated in one with Coach Dupe from Play Your Position, and that experience actually led us to enroll my son in the program. He's now thriving there, which makes the connection even more meaningful. A big thank-you to Dick's House of Sport for not only offering great athletic gear, but also giving local families a chance to discover some of the awesome sports programs available right here in Virginia Beach.

However, this is more than a retail store! It offers merchandise for every sport, and there was an exercise class in session, along with several sets of parents watching their children climb the rock wall that's conveniently situated in the center of the building. Wow! My first thought was, I need to tell my niece about this rock wall opportunity for her adventurous kids! There's a cost for the climb, but a quick glance at the pricing seemed reasonable. Here's a fun place to shop and spend time exploring for the whole family. The staff was very friendly in directing us and our cashier, Curtis was helpful, too. I placed my order by 3 PM and opted for in-store pickup, registering my number for text updates regarding my order. However, I did not receive any text notifications. I then returned to the Dick's app to chat with their AI assistant. I inquired about my order and when it would be ready for pickup, and the AI indicated that it would be ready within two hours. By 7 PM, I still had not received any updates, so I decided to call the store. When I spoke to a Dick's employee about my order, they were unable to locate it and went to fetch their manager, Averie. Upon speaking with Averie, I provided her with my order number and mentioned that I had not received any text messages, inquiring about the status of my order. She informed me that she had not received my order. I asked her why, given that I placed my order online at 3 PM. She patiently listened and requested a few minutes to contact their tech support to determine why my order had not been received. Less than 10 minutes later, Avery called me back to inform me that their system was down, causing delays in processing online orders. She mentioned that I could expect an email by 10 PM notifying me when my order was ready. I agreed to wait. The next day, I called again around 1 PM, and fortunately, Averie answered the call. I informed her that I had not received the email. She asked if she could call me back while she contacted headquarters to find out why my order had not been processed. I was grateful that she was able to handle this herself, as I wouldn't have known where to start. I also appreciated Averie's assistance during my calls; receiving answers from a human is much more reassuring than an automated AI response. Ultimately, I was able to visit the store on Sunday and purchase the bicycle.

This was a first for this sole purpose. Mainly boots, but also packs. They compete with REI no doubt. But they have an edge in my opinion on service. My service with Chase was phenomenal from entering the store to showing me every aspect of technical gear I would need on a two week European hike, or even local in the Appalachian. I walked out knowing much more and still researching. They did not have the specific hard to locate Lowa boots I wanted to try on. They are rarely retail, closest is NC. No purchases yet, but soon.

They always analyze your gait before making any recommendations to ensure a proper fit. Additionally, as a Brooks enthusiast, I appreciate that they offer one of the largest selections of Brooks footwear in the area and if you are lucky you can catch last years model on sale. The service remains top notch and was immediate. I needed a replacement shoe for my four year broken down everyday Hoka's. I have really loved the brand and hoped to stay in them. But was also open to try others. The sales guy understood my needs and confirmed my old Hoka's were trash. They upgraded the Bondi I'm in to the 10, so he started with that. However, he first had me walk up and down to evaluate my gait. He measured my feet. He pulled out around six colors to choose from and I tried on a pair and walked again for evaluation. They felt much better than my broken down sneaks. After an inspection of the laces and the way my toes were in the box he pulled out a wide shoe from the back. They only came in three colors, but the gray is what I wanted anyway. After walking again the wide shoe felt the best and more comfortable in the toe box. My previous shoes were regular width. We also discussed socks that would be more beneficial for walking and jogging avoiding cotton at all cost. Cotton retains moisture, that can cause blisters. So go with synthetics, or wool. I tried on a synthetic by Feetures that felt great and picked up a pair to purchase with new shoes. I wore my new ones out and they recycled my old ones and the box. Hoka's are not a cheap brand. So expect $165 and up. Checkout was smooth on my card. Running Etc is a unique experience on service as I described. They know the sport of running, they know their products and best of all the know how to satisfy their customers with phenomenal service. Whole heartedly recommend!!!
