Terrific find in Lincoln City (8/30/24). There's free public parking right off of 17th NW & Hwy 101. Nice collection of books of various genres, nicely arranged to catch your attention. Other items for purchase like cards, bags, buttons, stickers, puzzles, art prints, ad naseum. Very welcoming and inclusive indie bookstore. By coincidence the day before while driving out to Cannon Beach from Depoe Bay, I caught an insightful NPR segment on the radio that discussed the history and future of indie bookstores. Checked out Bob's Beach Books while walking along the 101 main road. I wanted to come here during my last vacation to Lincoln City but they were closed. Visiting them on a day they were open was my chance to see what they had. Unfortunately I couldn't check in here on Yelp because the cell service is not all that great down here, but I have pictures to prove that I visited. They have like every book and book accessory available, used and new. They are neatly organized by genre, which I truly appreciated. I picked up a novel by Michael Thomas Ford and a thumb thing for reading if I'm reading with one hand (whoever invented this thing is very smart and deserves a medal). I also got my mom a gardening journal as a possible Christmas present. My mom loves to garden so I think she'll love this. My boyfriend is a huge fan of Batman and One Piece and got himself some Batman comics and some One Piece manga books. The lady working the counter and who checked out books out was very nice and welcoming. She was also helping out a few people that needed assistance. With bookstores starting to become a thing of the past, Bob's is doing a great job staying in business and I hope they stay open for a very long time. read more

I make a point of visiting local bookstores in any town I vacation in, and I buy books! Local bookstores are treasures, and Bob's has just grown by leaps and bounds in my esteem. Their selection has grown to include some excellent choices, including tons of representation of queer and Indigenous authors. This display greeted us when we entered and I was so happy to support them by buying some exciting new books! read more

Such a fun book store! Jam packed with all sorts of not only books but cups and magnets and more so I spent an hour just looking around the small area and could've stayed longer. I will say that although it says used and new books, every book I looked at was new so don't expect everything to be super cheap here. I recommend visiting, even if you don't buy anything, and I definitely will again. read more

We are locals and this bookstore is one of our favorite places. I've been coming here since my child was a toddler. My now 9 year old daughter can find multiple books she loves every visit. First of all, great store and great selections. However, the gal working the counter could have been a little friendlier. It was an obvious annoyance to her the moment we came in. I was timid to even ask a question in regard to the location of a book. My small party all bought a book but upon purchasing our items there was minimal words shared between ourselves and the cashier. It felt as if she was rushing to get us gone. read more

My partner, David Delamare, and I come out every year to participate in the NW Author's Fair at Bob's Beach Books (typically in mid to late August). It's always fun to hang out in the sea air and see what regional authors have been producing. It's also a treat to work with the warm and upbeat Portwood family who own this shop as well as Robert's Bookshop. These are both amazing stores, and it's surprising to find such a selection in what feels like a relatively remote location. The reviews here comment on the books, but the art is also unusual. Bob Portwood is a serious art collector and he generously places his personal collection on public display. At Robert's Bookshop you'll find a huge assortment of original book illustrations from various genres. And at Bob's you'll find the largest public display of David Delamare originals on the planet. I think this sort of original art collection in a book store has got to be fairly unique. I am admittedly biased because David's work is on display, but even if it wasn't I'd have to come out and see both books and art at these friendly, family-owned businesses. read more

Came by here while we were vacationing at the coast because I read my book too fast and needed something to get me by. Great customer service when I walked in the door, showed me to the section of interest and there was a great variety to choose from. Book stores are becoming somewhat of a thing of the past and I hope to come here in the future when we travel through. Thank you! read more

Not quite as great of selection as Robert's Books, but I definitely still recommend making the stop. They have some books that are great food for thought type books, and they have a decent selection of books to read while on vacation. I personally like to sit and read philosophy and theology books while on vacation, but I know lots of people who set the good stuff aside while on vacation and open a Jack Reacher novel. So, I get it, and this place definitely offers a wide selection of books that you can read in your hotel room. read more

I really like this store. The name alone makes me happy. I LOVE to read a good book on a beach. But there's something about the place that conveys a welcome to the kind of "special interest" of which I'm a part, too; they've got a good science fiction collection and seem to be goth- and bat-friendly. And who would ever expect that? Good store. Friendly service. I like it. I always feel more like I've really been on vacation when I stop in there, even if I end up not reading the book(s) I bought because I've hauled so many along with me. read more

It looks small from the outside, but once I was drawn in, the shelves go on and on. There are sections for mystery, horror, and romance and general fiction novels back there, with new and used books mingling. Is this an Oregon thing? I think more bookstores should sell books this way. read more

Went to the author book signing August 2012 and met several of my favorite authors... and was introduce to others who have become favorites. Great event and the bookstore... WOW ... counter lady took time to answer some silly questions... and then I browsed their artwork ... and I suppose I should mention... the incredible amount of books they have in the building. read more

I have been visiting this store for several years. I love wandering through the deliciously stocked shelves and getting lost in little corners. Every time I go with every intent on only getting 1 book I end up with 2-3 (or more). There are also many cards, games and other treasures that also catch my eye. I am happy to contribute to a local business and get a book ordered and received in 1/2 the time I would have through any online option. A discount is given if you pay in cash. Literally the coolest book shop on the coast. The owner is personable, funny, and helpful in exactly the right amounts. The selection is eclectic and impressively robust, but what strikes you most is the QUALITY of the inventory. I don't mean only the titles stocked but the incredibly fine condition of the books themselves. I have rarely visited a shop with shelf after shelf packed with such pristine editions. And for those with even more refined tastes, there's a special room featuring rare books. (It reminded me of a walk-in humidor and my one disappointment was that Bob didn't offer cigars too.) Seriously, for both the casual and experienced book hunter, this unpretentious shop is a must-visit joint on the Oregon coast. read more
