I went to Bob's out of desperation because my right front speaker went out. It was shortly after 6 PM and most places were closing. I called and spoke to Bob and he said bring it in. Relieved I pulled in. Not expecting a fix that late but he got this young guy named Alex on it and discovered the speaker wire was shot. Alex and I looked the layout of my car on YouTube. The whole time he worked on it, he was so careful and attentive along being so nice. An hour later and 50 bucks, my speaker was fixed. I left there feeling so happy and satisfied. So I went back a few days later to get more work done on my system. Alex wasn't there but again the work they did again was so smooth and pleasant. The staff at this business was extremely helpful and knowledgeable when my daughter brought in my vehicle for alarm service. Not surprising, the road-weary 2001 BMW also had a dead battery, a broken driver door handle, in addition to a faulty after-market alarm that needed to be dismantled. Bob bends over backwards to do great service. A radio with handsfree calling partially failed. It was still under warranty and he installed a brand new radio promptly - an upgrade. He works on days they are closed to make sure the job is done right. Bob also replaced a Driver interface center in my Malibu to upgrade the old radio system but still keep the functionality of the DIC. It is still working great. read more

This place is the place to go to have a stereo installed into your car. Tom installed my radio. I brought my own radio and install kit and he installed it. Apparently, I purchased the wrong faceplate which made things very difficult. Tom worked for a couple of hours extra to make sure everything for perfectly! Even though the problem was my fault, he stood by his estimate which was more reasonable than anywhere else in town. I would definitely recommend this place! I'm torn between 4 and 5 stars simply because purchasing equipment from them is on the expensive end. Otherwise, great work by honest people. I went in with only a partial idea of what I wanted. Bob, one of the staff, helped me figure out exactly what I needed, what was unnecessary and what speakers would get me the best bang for the buck. They stayed late(9pm) installing my gear (head unit/speakers) and making sure everything worked perfectly. It's been two weeks and I'm very satisfied with their work. It was on the pricier end, especially since I bought speakers from them. I'll probably go again in the near future to have a sub woofer installed. read more

I came here when my car's audio was turning off randomly. It was a silly mistake of wires ( that are for attaching a subwoofer) touched. They quickly diagnosed that problem without even knowing that I had the wire attachments. They fixed that and trimmed the wires so that it would no longer happen. They also tuned my stereo system for free. I came Back when I heard a noise coming from it and they reconnected the wires to fix it. They could have told me to exchange the system which would have cost me a lot of money to replace, but they didn't. They are honest and hardworking. Of course I tipped because they saved me so much heartache. They are very knowledgeable and would go back to them at any point. read more

Probably the worst car audio installation experience ever. I called in to get an estimate on how much it would cost to get my sub+amp installed- sounded fair until I got there and the owner raised the price on me by 60+ dollars. I still went ahead with the install since I saw many shining reviews from yelp. Well, a one hour job turned into two hours, then three, then four, then over five hours...what the hell are you serious? Also, the guy who was working in my car (Some skinny guy with a dirty mohawk) had a cut on his arm and left some dried blood stains in there WTF! I have a crime scene in my car now! Instead of using a tool to strip a wire the dude used his teeth ...WoW I would have pulled out and left but I saw this at the 5 1/2 hour mark. That was not the worst part...couple of days after the job, my battery died. Yup they did not know what the hell they were doing and the amp kept draining my battery even when the car was off....NEVER COMING BACK!!!! I had to scrub and febreeze my ride for two weeks to get rid of rancid B.O. left in my car. read more

I would recommend try another audio place that has some kind of business ethics and completes the job correctly. I received a message from the owner. Wow his message just put me down as the customer. Not to mention him putting me down by not accepting what he wanted which was for me to buy a new stereo from him which I made clear in the beginning that, that was not my intent. Then he says I am hurting his business. I am just informing others which is according to Yelp policy to inform customers on our experience. As a customer, and looking at some of their other lower star reviews as similar. In that there seems to be a lack of understanding about serving the customer. Again I would never go there. I am sorry and hope this does not hurt your business but instead of focusing on this, perhaps consider giving the customer the opportunity to have what they want, be there for them and perhaps your customer service comments will improve. At least I do hope so for you. Honestly just try to be nicer to customers and not so much of sales trying to sell what you have and want them to have. If you are honest they will buy. And also if a customer is upset, with any business the "customer is always right" it is good business sense to help them as much as possible. If not again, low star reviews. Currently they have 11 one star reviews and 3, 2 star reviews. That is much more than their one star reviews. Makes one wonder. This is why the owner needs to listen to customers rather than putting them down. All the best to the owner. And as for future customers, if you choose to try their service, if things are great there, then great. If not please write a review here to inform and alert future potential customers. This is the only way to get some business owners to make positive changes and will also improve their business. Honestly if it was not for customers they would not have a business. So my truck got broken into and my head unit got stolen... its a 2004 Chevy Avalanche and had an aftermarket nav unit in it I installed back in 2004, which means the idiots who broke in got a very old unit that was already getting a bit flaky. Hah.. When i had the original install done 6 years ago at a different place I ended up going back twice before it was done well enough, even then the seek never really worked properly. Anyway I live in Torrance and dropped by Bob's Audio, he gave me a quote for a new system to show the insurance and I have to be honest he was not the friendliest. But then it was the end of a long hot day and he probably figured that would be the last he saw of me. I went back two days later (A Thursday) and dropped off my tuck, the plan was to put in a new unit and also hook up a viper alarm to slow thieves down since my truck has now been hit twice in the same place. This time I got a much more enthusiastic customer experience. :) Unfortunately by the end of the day my truck was still not ready and they wanted to keep it another day, there was a defective installation part that needed replacing. No problem. The next day it still was not ready, and this went on in to Saturday. This was turning in to a real bear of an install for them and they were very apologetic about it, for my part I just wanted it done right. I got a call Monday at 11:30am to say it was done. It turned out that they had opened up the shop on Sunday just to get it finished up. I was expecting a bigger bill than the estimate so you can imagine my surprise when the price was exactly as quoted. In the end I am glad I took it here, the job was done right and everything works as it should and I have had no problems. Ok so it took longer than expected but in this case I had them hook everything up to the OEM steering wheel controls and OnStar system so it was not straightforward. I reccomend this place based on my experience, they took the time to get it done right which I appriciate and it came out really nice. ***Updated review - as time went on I found that maybe these guys did not do as good a job as I thought, the alarm doesn't always work right and then the trim on the door post fell down, I found they had broken the fastener and stuck it back with a bit of wire and glue. Purchased a car stereo and avital alarm system, which after being installed, the alarm box would move around and ended up getting stuck under my clutch. The stereo was not properly secured either. whats worse was the alarm was improperly installed and caused my dash lights to flicker and short out. i ended up getting the alarm removed by honda and the wiring redone. i have since returned the alarm to bob's. take your business elsewhere. read more

These guys are extremely unprofessional. They *attempted* to install an iPod integration kit into my Toyota Sienna. The first time I came to pick it up, the installer hadn't even bothered to check that it worked (it didn't), even though I called ahead to make sure everything was working. I had to leave the van that night and come back. Still, it wasn't installed correctly. I brought it back three more times and they never figured it out, never tested it to give me a heads up that it wasn't ready. (Each time it was only operational in "direct" mode--which means there is no way to select music.) At one point, the installation guy suggested that the problem was that I had too many songs on my iPod. During one trip, he was randomly switching dip switches while I waited--but there were only 4 dip switches so there are only 16 combos and they'd had the car for more than 24 hours. During the last attempt, the installer suggested I try a different unit (different brand) which they had in stock. (They didn't have it, but it still seemed like something they could have suggested 3 or 4 tries earlier.) Now I have to go back a sixth time to get my money back--because it would be a "hassle" for them to do it over the phone. I will never use these guys again (for anything), and I would caution other yelpers to do the same. BTW, it turns out this particular unit (USA Spec PA20) is installed in an entirely different location from where the installation guy was working. I told them that I thought a special cable was required (the van has an upgraded factory stereo), but they ignored that advice. He was using something I printed from the internet to "wing it" because he had NO clue--he was about 10 feet from where he needed to be. Brutal experience all around. read more

I came to this place sometime at the end of 2019 and had a bad experience. I asked for a simple audio cable Y splitter that has a male on one end and two males on the other and he tried to sell me some used cables with an adapter to a noise filer that had two females and a male. I explained to him I needed all male. He started to get mad at me and wouldn't let me speak. It was a simple all male y splitter audio cable. After that, I left and got the splitter somewhere else. Recently I called and asked if they had acoustic foam sound deadening and I specifically said not the dynamat heavy type of deadening and they said yes they have it. I drive over there and end up having to talk to the same person. I asked for the foam sound deadening and he shows me the Dynamat style stuff and I said I called and asked for the foam and he said well this is all we got. So I walked out. I went here yesterday 03/10/2011 for new headlights and HID kit (which I bought myself somewhere) installation. It took 4 hours for the installer (I did not get his name though) to do it coz I think he is used to installing HID kits on American cars not Import cars. Other shops tried to rip me off to $250 just for installing. Here, they only charged me $100 :-) which is reasonable. These guys know what there doing. Other shops that I went to were telling me my amp had blown that I need to buy a new amp. They checked it and told me your amp is fine just need to redo some wires and he actually did it right there and then and didn't even charge me a cent. Great place for your audio needs. read more

Do not take your European car to these guys, no matter what they say ,they are not qualified to install in anything european. I took my X5 in to have a head unit installed, steering wheel controller, back-up cam and an amp because they sold me because they do not know how to enable the factory amp. When the install was complete, which took an entire day, there was engine noise coming through the speakers, the steering controls didn't work so I had to take it back. 2nd attempt, they kept the car over night and most of the next day and the engine noise was still there. On this visit the installer asks me if I would like the connection soldered, I thought it was common practice to solder all connections or am I mistaken? These guys didn't even use wire connectors to connect the speaker wires to the crossovers they had installed. Very unprofessional installation, they chose to take short cuts and make the instal easy for themselves not respecting a customers property. When they finished with my car I thought I was in the clear, was I ever wrong, on the way home I noticed the engine noise was still there. 3rd times is not the charm. They tried to get rid of the noise, they had the car from the time they opened til almost 2 the next morning when I decided to call it a night. The problem didn't get fixed and now my backup camera doesn't work. I had another shop look at their work and troubleshoot the problem but they would not take it on because they didnt know exactly what these guys had messed around with and they recommended that I take it back to Bob's to reverse what they had done since i paid them to install the components the new shop didn't want to charge me for something that I already paid for and this would give them a clean slate to work with. which I could understand. 4th time back at Bob's to get my car put back to stock. So I told them that I was not satisfied with what I had gotten from them and to remove what they had done and return to stock. They chose not to do what I asked and continued to try to remove the engine noise and fix the camera issue which they eventually did. Basically these guys had my car 3 times to fix the problem and on the 4th time they were suppose to put it back to stock so I could have someone else instal it correctly and they couldn't even follow the most basic request. They took it upon themselves to do what they wanted and not as I requested. I don't understand how a business that operates in this manner doesn't go under, these guys don't respect the wishes of their customers, how do you trust anything they tell you or anything they touch. I wouldn't trust them with anything more sophisticated than a golf cart. read more

I went to bobs on 3/15/21 and I am going to recommend everyone to this place. The service was amazing and I can't stop talking about it. My stock stereo on my 2016 scion went out a week ago and toyota was giving me the run around so I decided to check this place out. I got there and from the start the service was excellent. The front desk girl told me that I might need an appt but another young gentleman came and asked me what the problem was so I explained and he said let's check it out. He took a look at it and right there started taking the head unit apart to figure out the problem. He stated that my stock head unit went out and said it needed to be replaced, so we talked price and I gave the ok to get started He quickly began to assemble the new head unit and we ran into the same problem, no audio playing so he took the new unit and tested it and it works so he said it might be the speakers. He then began to pull door panels off and found that one of my tweeters was grounding out, he immediately fixed it plugged my stock head unit in and music started to play. I was so excited about it. And instead of him trying to push thr new head unit and make the sale he simply put everything back together and took me inside and told the front desk to only charge me for taking my door panel off and fixing it. I was soooooo impressed with my whole visit and with the service that I will most definitely go back and recommend them to all friends and family. These guys did a good job installing my bluetooth/ipod/cd/stereo a few years ago. Due to my own laziness, I failed to bring it back to them promptly to point out that the stereo wasn't playing. That's because I never listen to the radio, and everything else was working fine. Just recently, under pressure from many car passengers, I brought it back to them to see if they could do anything. They fixed it immediately and didn't charge me a dime, even though it had been well over a year (or two) since they had first installed it. Nor did they ask me for a receipt or anything like that.
