INCREDIBLY disappointed with our experience at PCH Custom Audio. I would give them 0 stars if possible. My uncle Frank a recent Stage IV prostate cancer survivor drove more than 1 hr from OC to PCH Custom Audio to have the SYNC 1 system in his Ford Flex upgraded to a SYNC 3 unit. He researched the conversion beforehand and rather than attempting it himself, decided to pay a pro audio shop to handle the installation. He dropped his vehicle off at 10 am and provided the replacement SYNC 3 unit to the manager. He was quoted $120 for the installation was told it would take 4 hrs to complete. I picked him up so he would not have to sit at the shop alone. 4 hrs later my uncle received a call letting him know his installation was complete. When we returned, the manager handed my uncle his keys to see the installation. When my uncle started the car, the supposedly new SYNC 3 unit looked exactly like his old unit. His phone also automatically connected through Bluetooth even though it had never been paired with the new unit. My uncle asked where his old unit was. The manager pointed to the unit that still had the plastic cover on the face sitting in the box. My uncle then asked if the new unit was actually installed? The manager initially said yes, but appeared confused and walked into the back of the shop. Then, Andrew the owner, came out and explained what had happened. He said there had been "miscommunication" between the manager and the installer. The installer had attempted to install the new SYNC 3 unit, found that it lagged and shut off and reinstalled the old unit. He assumed my uncle would want to return it for a replacement. Without communicating with the installer, the manager assumed the work had been completed successfully and called us to come pick up the vehicle. No apology or owning the mistake. My uncle calmly explained how disappointed he was. He had driven more than 1 hour and spent 4 hours waiting for the installation to be complete. I asked Andrew whether this level of competence is what customers should expect from his shop. Rather than apologize, Andrew became defensive. He reiterated there had been a miscommunication and told us we could take the vehicle and leave without being charged (again no apology or accountability). My uncle then asked if there was a way to make the new SYNC 3 unit work properly? Andrew said that if we gave him 15 mins, he would reinstall the unit and demonstrate the problem. A few mins later, Andrew told us there "might" be a software update that would allow the unit to operate correctly. Eventually, we learned the real issue was the SYNC 1 to SYNC 3 upgrade required a specific conversion harness that we did not know was required. Apparently the experts at PCH Custom Audio missed that detail as well. Determining whether the necessary parts are present before beginning the work is part of what you are paying a professional installer to do. Andrew then said they did not have the right harness but offered another solution for $1,200. Despite Andrew initially telling us we could leave without being charged, they ultimately charged my uncle $120 after reinstalling the SYNC 3 unit to demonstrate that it would not work properly. At this point, my uncle was exhausted, did not want to argue and simply just paid the bill. This entire experience could have been avoided if: - PCH Custom Audio verified all necessary components were present for the installation. - Once the installer discovered a required harness was missing, someone should have called us immediately. - The installer and manager should have communicated before telling us that a vehicle was ready for pick up. - Once Andrew learned what had happened, a simple apology and an effort to resolve the situation professionally. Instead, we experienced poor communication, a failed installation, defensiveness from the owner, and a charge for work that did not accomplish what we brought the vehicle in to have done. 1 Star -- Worst car audio experience of my life This is easily the worst car audio shop I have ever dealt with in my life, and that says a lot considering I've used everything from swap-meet shops to cheap car audio installers in the past. I have never seen work this careless, sloppy, and unprofessional. I brought my brand new 2025 Chevy Silverado to PCH Audio in Wilmington for what should have been a straightforward, professional install: an amp rack, amplifier, dual 12" subwoofer setup, and a full speaker upgrade. The bill was around $1,800, so I expected competent, professional work. What I got was the complete opposite. After inspecting the install and having it checked by a real, reputable shop, we discovered: * They used wood screws in the installation * The electrical connections were done poorly * They cut into my brand new factory wiring instead of using proper adapters * They cut up my stock speakers and used them as makeshift adapters instead of installing the proper $9 plastic mounting adapters * The wiring job was so bad that it damaged my alternator and battery This is a brand new truck, and these problems did not exist before their work. To make things worse, I had to take my truck to a competent professional shop and pay again to: * Fix their wiring mistakes * Repair the damage they caused * Redo the installation the correct way So not only did I pay $1,800 for terrible work, I had to double pay to undo their mistakes. I have photos documenting everything: the hacked wiring, the butchered factory parts, and the poor-quality installation. This shop cuts corners in ways that can seriously damage your vehicle. Tuesday, June 30, 2026 my car blew a coolant hose coupling on the freeway at around 5:30. I pulled off of the freeway as soon as I could and I pulled into these guys parking lot. I opened up my hood to discover the blown coolant hose coupling and I luckily had one in my car, but I was in need of a flathead screwdriver in order to swap it out. I walked over to the store garage door wide open maybe 10 guys inside. I asked if anybody would lend me a flathead screwdriver so that I could get my car back on the road, and every single person ignored me one guy picked his head up and looked at me, but looked right back down. I am on my third audio set up with them just at their different locations. When you buy an audio system they say that it comes with a 3 year warranty and when you actually go in because of a blown tweeter or a speaker they always say they don't carry that model anymore and always try to sell you a different kind . I told them that I couldn't afford a new setup and that I just wanted to get them replaced through the warranty. It's been over a month that they are waiting for the delivery of the speakers and every time I call they say "I'll call you back." DO NOT COME PLEASE !!! THEY DO MICKEY MOUSE WORK! I finally got a chance to make a review. Let's first start off with the head lights. They did not have the size for the bulb for my headlights. It was to small, they said "come next week we will get you the right size" so I came the following week and they said the bulbs came. They end up installing it, they ended up used the same bulb as last week and they used glue to place them on. They GLUED MY HID BULB TO MY HEADLIGHT!!!! Not just one but BOTH! I asked them about it and TIMOTHY said "you wanted your light so we installed them" if you never had the correct bulb then don't install it. Or you don't have any then screw it just say no. And give me my money. EACH HEADLIGHT COST 300$ USED! And the freaking head lights burned out a month later which is when I found out after checking that it was glued NEXT, you will see wiring, CHEAP WIRING wired to my car which makes sense why it burned out in 1 month. That whole month I smelt plastic burning under my hood and found out the blue protection on the ballast piece wasn't even taken out which could've caused a fire!!! Like why???? Why couldn't you just do the easiest thing. NEXT, they drilled a whole in my firewall, why didn't you just route it though the wiring harness or something. Now I get bugs, water, and dust coming in the hole. I can smell oil coming in from the hole. I am so sorry to leave this experience, but I should have done my research and should have not done this job with the PCH Custom Audio. They treated me well, but installation was a mess, I had my own stereo set and backup camera I took it to them for installation. First they quote me $160 total including the harness, but at the end of the day, Not the guy who quoted me, the other guy charged me for the harness and he said either I pay for Taxes for the Harness or Installation? I didn't know you have to pay taxes for cutting my wires!! Either way, after the installation my break lights came and reverse lights didn't work ( I thought it was the lights gone bad) so I went to AutoZone and the guy checked everything including the bulbs and my reverse lights and said it wasn't installed correctly. So today after week I went to PCH Custom Audio and they said the guy who installed it NOT AT FAULT. Hey I looked at the YouTube and it shows that you need to install an attachment to the reverse lights so that where ever you splice the back harness to install the camera needs a connection to your back reverse lights. The guy who wanted taxes for the installation service came out and said bring the guy who said it's been installed wrong.... WOW Now I have to hunt down the AUTOZONE employee and bring him to PCH Custom Audio... What a joke. The guy behind the counter, with a walking stick, who quoted me was a real nice dude, but NOT HIS BUDDY. Well all I can say is STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. As I'm writing this review, I'm currently waiting again, for the 5th time this week for my radio to be fixed because it keeps on popping a fuse. I first stepped in here on a Tuesday, got a few quotes about a couple different radios and was going to be on my way. The manager seemed really aggressive about me getting a sound system installed today and he told me about the financing portion, which I was inclined to do. I put together a list of items of what I wanted and they said they could easily do that with the budget I was given by the finance company ($1500). They said it's possible, as I was going through my invoice, they charged me $250 for an amp, which was $60 on sonix electronics. They said they'd price match it, but would have to charge me all these extra fees equaling to the $250 I originally had been charged for the amp. It was confusing, but I guess that's how they charge for installation? Not really clear how they do things here. Then, I went ahead with the installation, left the car overnight hoping it would be done the next day. That was not the case, I came back the next afternoon and they said the amp they installed was bad and they couldn't get another one til the next day. So I decide to come back the next day, because I need my car for work. I take the car back the next day, around 1pm for the amp install. It took about 3 hours. I drove off thinking I was completely free of anymore mishaps. That was not the case, I purchased a rear view camera and that was never installed. Also my passenger seat belt was removed and never put back. The next day I had to come back to install the camera and seat belt. This took another 2 hours. I left and after driving a few hours, my radio went out. Probably due to a fuse, so I replaced it. Then that fuse blew out. Now I'm here again trying to figure it out. Today is Saturday, I've been in-n-out of this place for 5 days straight. I also told them that my passenger seat motor wasn't working, they said they don't touch the seats? How can you take my seatbelt off if you don't touch the seats?!You'd think for spending close to $2000 in car audio parts we wouldn't have to deal with all these issues. Good luck to anyone looking at this place for an easy car audio solution, pretty sure it won't be easy. Edit* So it's been a few hours since I got my car back. After all the shady stuff that happened to me, I wanted to check and make sure I got everything that was listed on the invoice. I didn't. About a month ago I spent 760$ to get my black bmw 328i two 12' inch pioneer 1200's an amp and everything hooked up. 2 week's later I had to come back due to my beat stop working. I scheduled an appointment and came in to get it fixed from the owner. When I got there, it was only me the owner and the cashier. The owner proceeded to act like he didn't or see me for 45 min until I said enough is enough. I mean repeatedly walked passed me and my daughter. Then the owner acting like he was doing me a favor proceeded to fix my beat which was a fuse problem and wiring issue. After he was done I got back into my car to find that he didn't put anything he took apart in my trunk back in place and left my battery compartment exposed and also when they ran the wiring on my passenger side on the bottom along the door frame was loose and not put back properly.
