Glad to have discovered this hidden gem on a trip to ac, great tasting food! We ordered the #2 special which was crabs clams n shrimp in an old bay butter garlic sauce, a 16oz stuffed lobster tail and fried scallops. The sauce on the steamed seafood was to die for, super garlicky n just the right amount of old bay kick. The lobster tail was a little tough n the stuffing dry, but I poured some of the melted butter on it n yum! The scallops were the reason for my lack of a star, they had a funny smell, I only ate one but my husband ate rest n we both had some stomach issues that night n next morning , but I have to say, with that exception everything else was super fresh and I will definitely be back to order that special again! read more

I was in AC for work and as I headed back to DC I yelped a seafood place to get some food for the road which is how I stumbled upon Bob's. What a gem of a place and oh how I love your garlic crabs so much! If I knew in advance how good they were I would have ordered more! GET THE GARLIC CRABS with garlic, butter and Old Bay! So good and I'm from DC where we love our blue crabs! I left the crabs whole but you can also ask them to open them up and clean them for you- I just like to do that myself. The crabs sustained the 3.5 hour ride home and were still hot when I got home. I ate half and saved the rest for the next day and they were still sooooo good the next day (maybe even better the second day) The crabs were so meaty and fresh and licked all of the garlic sauce off of the shell as I was eating. IT WAS THAT GOOD! I also had the fried combo platter which was also great! The crab cake was full of meat and tasty! Don't let the outside fool you! This place has killer seafood! What a find!! This place is as legit as they come. No frills counter-service spot with a few tables pumping out super fresh, cooked-to-order seafood. This place has reasonable prices for seafood. We ordered mussels cooked and dungeons crab legs and jumbo snow crab legs they were all cooked well. I didn't care for the butter garlic sauce we asked for on the side and they should've gave us bread or something to avoid burping the garlic all night. But overall it was good. read more

I have been going to Bob's seafood in Absecon on and off for years.I have always been satisfied with their prices service and seafood. I think they have new owner and/or manager and a recent experience was not a good one and it left me wondering if I'll ever go back again. I called ahead to place my order and ordered one of the fried platters which was listed for $8.99. When I went to pick up my order the order was not correct. I think they assumed the mistake was on my end and were not too pleased about having to remake the order. When I went to pay for the platter they charged me $14 and change and told me that their prices have gone up but they do not have the new menus printed yet. The same prices are listed on their "old" paper menu as their online menu and even some of the dishes advertised on the door at their entrance are exactly the same, so maybe it was just my dish that increased in price! Even taking this person at their word, businesses should be upfront with their customers about price increases when they call to place an order or list that information on their website. I like supporting local businesses but I won'tif they are not transparent about their prices or do not offer good customer service. If businesses want loyal customers they need to take all of these things into account. For any of you out there who are looking for a good seafood market, I suggest trying Randall's seafood. It is an excellent fish market in Pleasantville off the beaten path and their fish is incredibly fresh, their prices are reasonable and always posted and I have no complaints about their service! read more

Absolutely, DELICIOUS. Walked in and was a bit skeptical since it was small and only have a couple tables. I ordered the snow crab legs and shrimp which was the #1 on the daily specials. It took a while to come out but so worth the wait. The crab legs were full of meat and so flavor full, the shrimp were perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned. Bob's Seafood isn't a 4 star choice....... I can only guess people don't know what fresh is, especially when it comes to seafood. I have been eating seafood for a very long time. I love Sushi as well. You would think Bob's actually sits at the docks and loads the fish onto the truck hourly. I almost overly look forward to dinner when I know I am cooking fish in the evening from Bob's. Bob's is by far the best seafood market in the state, and probably is the best market in the country. I did not have the highest expectations when I got here. The staff wasn't the nicest. It wasn't the nicest looking inside. It also was a little pricey. However, I got the salmon platter and it was delicious. The salmon was fresh, it just fell apart. It came with a side of fresh vegetables were great as well. Stopped by Bob's seafood market by chance and glad I did for lunch. I ordered the shrimp platter and it was more than I expected. I received seven butterfly shrimp that were absolutely fresh along with french fries and onion rings. For a person who is not used to eating this well at lunchtime, I was in heaven. I went into Bob's to purchase some dungeness crab. The man behind the counter weighed my order and as he was putting the crab into the bag he dropped some of it on the floor. He bends over picks it up and throws it into the bag. I ask him "Did you just drop that on the floor?" He says "Yea" I said "Then you put in in the bag?" He says "Yea, it's frozen." I'm basically shocked by now. I mean, who does that?!?! The manager who was standing right there witnessing this doesn't intervene, doesn't say a word! I said "Take it out please and replace it." Visited on a quiet Monday afternoon ordered the deep fried combo for 18.99 and clam chowder. Two of use shared the combo it comes in a styrofoam container with fries and a very small coleslaw. At these prices I want to eat off a real plate and not plasticware - hey I didn't know. The seafood in general was flavorful-less and over cooked. The single crab cake was very odd tasting not that of crab.The batter needed at least salt and pepper. And there was none on the table. The chowder was passable the oyster crackers that accompanied it was again just a filler? The gentleman at the counter was very friendly. There is booths to sit at but not much else. Purchased the lobster salad today for $10.99 thinking I was getting real lobster. Not so! It is made with the artificial lobster. We had mussels marinara, which were so delish with just enough spice. The scallops (broiled) were tasty. We liked the steamed shrimp but thought we were getting the peel and eat. We got giant shrimp! My wife and I treated this location as our go to when we wanted seafood for special events. That will no longer be the case after her most recent visit. My wife pre-ordered some snow crab legs for New Years Eve to be picked up at 4:00 pm. She arrived and waited in line like everyone else. Then some self absorbed jerk comes in and sees a friend closer to the front of the line and starts a conversation with him. My wife and the woman behind her watch and start to suspect that "Mr. Wonderful" is going to jump the line and, sure enough, when the counter person calls "Next", he steps up. He gets his piece of fish and as he's leaving my wife thanks him for waiting in line like everyone else. Rather than apologize he defends his inconsiderate action by claiming my wife and the other woman were busy "yacking" so he felt justified in cutting the line. My wife expressed her displeasure to Simon and he simply said that he just called out "next" and didn't know this guy wasn't really next in line. My wife got our crab legs and as she was leaving Simon called out something like "next; and no cutting" or something smart like that. This sarcasm wasn't appreciated or called for. If Bob's had a system where you take a number or some other form of organization situations like this would not happen. I recently stopped in at this place while leaving Atlantic City, heading for the Parkway. I was very surprised to have one of THE BEST fish and chips I've had in a long time. When I placed my order, the counter man went over to the fresh fish and picked out some beautiful cod fillet. It took long enough to know that it wasn't just for show. WATCH THE SCALE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went to Bob's Seafood in Absecon to purchase shrimp for Thanksgiving. The peeled and cooked shrimp was $16.99 lb. I asked for 2 lbs and the shrimp on the scale weighed 1.51 lb. I said I would like 2 lbs and the worker said that is 2 lbs. I said the scale says 1.51 lb. He said that is really 2 lbs if you add back the shell of the shrimp!!!! That should not have anything to do with it because you are charging more per pound for the fact that you did peel the shrimp. If I wanted a pound of flounder would you just weigh .86 lb on the scale and say well if I add the head back on the fish it would be 1 lb! C'mon. Disgraceful! How many customers have been cheated!!!! read more
