It's pretty satisfying when a place lives up to the hype. My wife and I went to Bob's Taco Station after randomly watching the Food Network and saw it was right down the road for us. The atmosphere is pretty laid back, and the decorations show their local spirit. When we sat down I asked our waiter what he liked. He recommended the Triple D Special and what a recommendation it was. He said "after working here for 20 years, I know what's good." Let me tell you, I've had tamales from alot of different places. Homemade. Side of the road. Friends. But this place had the very best I've ever Now everything else was good, but the one tamale was my favorite. Next time I'll be ordering a plate of those things with the gravy and everything. They have something special here. 5 Star review is deserved for the tamale alone. The other food was good, but I couldn't get past how delicious it was. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the salsa. But the services, and the main dishes are incredible. The BEC taco was great - bacon was diced up so you got bacon in almost every bite. The carne taco (I added onion, no charge) - the meat was tender and the gravy was thick and rich. OMG!!! Where do I start? The food is so delicious & fresh. I've never had it so good since moving here 3 years ago. Also let me add the food is very light & filling, it doesn't leave you feeling heavy after eating. I had the pleasure of meeting ther owner Bob and he enlightened us with some history of the place. He is very personable and witty. The staff is nice & aimed to please no fake attitudes here. And the place was very clean even in the restrooms. All the motorcyclist this is a nice ride from Houston. For the car riders, still a pretty interesting ride down. Let me add that it's WORTH the drive for some authentic Mexican food. After the company picnic in Richmond, it was only another 10-15 minutes to get to Rosenberg for a 3D stop. Right in the heart of Rosenberg, Bob's Taco Station has a small town quaintness. The walls are plastered with all kinds of Tex-Mex and local school paraphernalia. Service was prompt and friendly. Everything on the menu is available, so breakfast in the afternoon is no problem. So, that's what my friend got - a Two Egg Plate (over easy for her) with beans, fried potatoes, and flour tortillas. I wanted to try as many different things as possible, so the Tex-Mex plate it was - a tamale, a cheese enchilada, a crispy taco with ground beef, with rice and beans. All the food was good, but nothing really blew me away. The potatoes and beans were mild on flavor. The cripsy taco and enchilada were fairly typical. The tamale had a very good ratio of meat to masa. The salsa that came with the chips is also worth mentioning. We got some tacos to go also so we could try them later. The lengua was very tender and a large portion. Overall a good stop, but I wouldn't drive all the way out there to eat. Awesome breakfast tacos. I had the Barbacoa and Chicharron/Egg tacos. They were both very delicious. The homemade tortillas are worth the wait, which for us wasn't very long for a Saturday lunch. My wife and daughter had the taco salad and chorizo/eggs, and they both enjoyed their meals. We also had some pork tamales. The tamales were big and good, but I still prefer Alamo Tamale Co. in Houston to Bob's tamales. Bob's has tasty salsa with just the right amount of spice. They also have a red taco sauce and green mustard sauce in squeeze bottles that blend well with the tacos. Great service. As you walk-in, signs warns you that you may have to wait for a half-hour for food. The place wasn't too busy when we arrived, so the food came quickly. We also had good refills as well as to-go cups for our drinks. Warm atmosphere...very relaxed and feels like a Mexican Bennigan's. Mexican marionettes, a Mexican wrestling mask on the top shelf, old photos, and a big pic of Guy Fieri from the Food Network "Dives" show, who visited here a few years ago. I stopped by here on Sunday at about 1pm and they were still a bit busy. Didn't have to wait to long. My Bf is mentioned this place plenty of times before and he said it was a must try. Since we were in the area we stopped in. Fast and quick service. The waiter was great. Although some customer walked in and took out seat while we waited for it to be clean. But since the server was busy he couldn't look out for our seat. Immediately when he found out he was able to get us seated right away. No big deal! Guy Fieri was either paid handsomely, or was too nice. I can see why the place has received high praise, if you never ventured outside of Rosenberg or had authentic home made Mexican food, then you'll love it here too. As for me, this place was thrash, and I don't mean to sound cruel, the service was decent, friendly staff, but the food is screaming for help. There's a sign posted that states "our food is made from scratch, if you're in a hurry, there's always Taco Bell and McDonalds". Well when Taco Bell has a better chalupa then what this place has to offered, then I'll continue going to Taco Bell. Food was extremely mediocre, I ordered the Triple D Delight plate, and I sure was dissatisfied, disappointed, and discontent. I have mixed feelings about this place. Some items were fantastic, while other items were terrible. The service was sweet but pretty slow. They ran out of tea and lemonade and we waited for drinks and refills for a LONG time. I feel they should have comped the drinks and what upset me, is they charged us for our tea and lemonade to go. We weren't even given a refill due to slow service. Chips and salsa are good, not great. I had the Triple D combo plate and my enchiladas were yummy but the rice and beans were meh. It had carne guisada and I didn't like it. It wasn't tender, lacked flavor and they gave me zero tortillas with it. The crispy taco that came with the plate came out soggy and the tamale was horrible. Some of the worst tamales I've had. My husband got chorizo, egg and cheese taco and it was good. The tortillas were excellent. Now his other taco, the guisada taco was plain and flavorless. He didn't care for the meat and lack of toppings. His last taco the street taco was just ok. The big question is will we come back....maybe. I would order the enchiladas again but if this place is on a wait, I'd go elsewhere. For years my school ordered breakfast tacos here. They were always delicious. I went to the restaurant yesterday with a friend. The cheese enchiladas were good with lots of flavor. Rice/beans were ok. I went back today and had a bacon, egg, cheese breakfast taco, yummy as usual. I was really impressed with the crunchy beef taco. After sitting there while I ate the other taco, the crispy taco was not soggy at all. The bottom never fell out. Very fresh and tasty. Glenda did a great job both days. We accidently ran across Bob's and had no idea of their history with Guy Fierra. We just wanted good Mexican food for breakfast so we took a chance. They have breakfast and lunch hours. The hours are Tuesday - Friday & Sunday 7:00 am - 2:00 pm and Saturday 7:00 am till 5:00 pm. I'm so glad they extended Saturday hours. Bob's is a small hole in the wall kind of place. Casual attire, laid back atmoshere, friendly servers, affordable and you can meet Bob. Bob's is family owned business plus the menu is homemade. Take time to look at the walls full of old pictures, posters and memorabilia. The salsa and chips are complimentary for the first round. Their still a bargain at $2.29. I can't get enough of the fire roasted salsa, finely processed and full of flavor with chopped chilies, onions and heavy on the cumin. The salsa isn't red but almost black. I often pour it over my my entree, beans and tacos. So, so good!! We wanted to try everything on the menu. The server recommended the Carne Guisada Plate (12.99) or basically Beef Tips with Gravy. The meat was fork tender with a fresh cumin flavor. The gravy is so yummy I could make a meal out of tortillas dipped in the gravy. The plate is served with tender rice, beans and warm tortillas. I was hooked but I totally shocked my family as I rarely eat beef. I crave this now and tough when I live 1600 miles away. My sister and son had the Enchilada Plate ($11.99) served with your choice of chicken, ground beef or Cheese and comes with beans, rice and tortillas. The cheese is so warm and thick in the enchildas. It's a cheesy, stringy mess of goodness. They now are my sister's favorite. Oh, stop by on Wednesdays for all you can eat enchiladas. My sister loves Wednesday and was I ever shocked at how many enchiladas she could eat. My son enjoyed his beef enchiladas but loved the meat on my Carne Guisada plate. It's now our go to meal here. The menu is full of tasty breakfast plates, tacos, tamales and lunch plates. The breakfast tacos and plates are very popular and affordable. Most days the food arrives so quickly. I've seen this place on Food Network so when we drove by we had to stop. The parking lot was absolutely packed but decided to go for it anyways. Word of advice: pack your patience. There are signs inside stating things are made from scratch and take time and they weren't kidding. It took us 1.5 hours to get in and out which for me is way too long. Service was friendly but very slow. The food was decent, no clue on the other reviews bringing up the price. It was a good value for the quality of food. My husband devoured his plate and I couldn't finish my quesadilla- it was stuffed to the brim with chicken.
