Today we went to the Mother's Day buffet. The food was honestly the worst meal I have ever had. The breakfast buffet at the airport Holiday Inn would have been ten times better. The eggs were rubbery. The choices were scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage patties and cubed potatoes. They had a Cesar salad or house salad which were just sitting out in a bowl. And for kids- they had chicken tenders and I kid you not- McDonalds fries. Like they got them in bulk and reheated them. I was so disappointed. The food is over priced for the quality that you receive. They need a new chef! The ambiance is beautiful but that's it. First we ordered the calamari, we sent it back because it was over cooked and had no flavor at all. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip instead...it was just okay. My date had a lobster dish, the lobster was tuff like rubber and so was the pasta, we sent that back as well. I had spaghetti and meatballs and ordered the same dish to-go for my date and the meatballs barely had meat in them....mostly bread. Food originally i was going to order the Cobb salad with Italian wedding soup but once I saw my friends plate I changed my order to the Salmon that was topped with artichoke and a side of mashed potatoes and Italin wedding Soup w/out the pasta. The Salmon was over cooked and it seemed as though the artichoke were from a jar rather than fresh so it was salty, the potatoes were bland and the soup was salty as well. They had me a gluten free options! I got the piccata salmon and it was delicious! I enjoyed it so much, next time will order it again! It comes with noodles but they have gluten free noodles. They also have gluten free pizzas and a couple other things. My whole family loves coming here! For non gluten free the calamari is a great appetizer! The ham and eggs are a great appetizer too. Osso bucco is my favorite and I've tried it at many high-end restaurants around Houston. Long story short, Bocca has the BEST osso bucco in town. If your not sure what to get try it! Those sofa-benches were so comfortable! I ordered a sangria(8 out of 10; very sweet and fruity, of course) and my husband order the Fox Glove Cabernet Sauvignon(9 out of 10; not too woodsy, bold flavor with a hint of a slight sweetness right before the dry taste sits in). We ordered the spinach dip as the appetizer(10 out of 10). I ordered the carbonara pasta(6 out of 10; sauce was great, but the noodles were too dense for me. Felt like I was eating spaghetti). My husband ordered the Pasta e Alici and he said it was good, just wouldn't order that dish again. We got the zeppole donuts(10 out of 10; very sweet and reminded me of sopapillas from Rosa's). I wish it was on the regular menu. The appetizer was the Arancini; so yummy... it's small, but enough if you want to be able to finish your dinner. For desert a warm peach tart. Actually tastes like peaches (not bland) and the ice cream I imagine is Blue Bell, because the vanilla flavor was strong and it's the best. The crust was perfect. I can't wait to come back. Food is good. Very good given that they violate the cardinal rule for Roman pasta: they use Parm instead of pecorino. That aside, the food is well prepared and overall excellent. The service is some of the worst I've ever experienced. The people are nice enough, but they have no clue and you'll go long periods without any attention at all. I'm sitting here now. 6 people at the bar and it took 10 minutes to get a glass of wine and I had to say something to make it happen that quick. Now, finished with my meal and ready to move on. I have visited this restaurant on another occasion, and it was pretty good. Our recent visit was a huge disappointment. We were seated at a table where the floor was dirty with wasted food and other items. The automatic paper dispenser in the men's restroom was empty. The waiter was not very attentive and took an exceptionally long time to bring drinks, food, silverware, etc. (I think he doubled as the bartender.) He brought coffee instead of the requested tea. The tea was cold by the time he returned with a spoon. The food was good once we finally received it but the overall experience was especially lacking. The people that seemed to be managers were too busy on their phones to notice anyway. We will look for other dining options before returning. read more
