We worked with Veronica Chumo, who is the most efficient, capable & pleasant person I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with! We furnished our entire living room area with BoConcepts furniture, and she really did a great job as a guide & sounding board. She was able to solidify my decisions by providing 3D renderings of the space with the furniture, so it was easy to visualize everything. Veronica was also extremely helpful with providing leads & contacts for other vendors & contractors in the area, as we are new to SF. We bought a sectional (Carlton) from Bo Concept recently, we couldn't find a sectional that was the right size. We went to the showroom and Chris advised us on some options, did 3D drawings with our room's dimensions (I haven't been to any other store that does this and at no extra cost), and helped us with fabric selection. We finally settled on a setup and placed the order. One issue we had is that there was a delay with our order and we were never told (about a 3 week delay). But when we spoke with Shi Shi she immediately offered to deliver a loaner sectional right away and not charge for delivery due to the mess up, so that made up for the delay (we didn't take the loaner, too much hassle and we had family visiting). The couch arrived, looked GREAT, but it made this strange noise when you sat in it. I thought we were doomed with a bad couch. I called Shi Shi and again she immediately took care of it - she sent her guys to come around my schedule. The guys came, didn't make me feel at all like I was being unreasonable, and got the couch fixed (they had to adjust some bolts that may have come loose during shipping). Anyway, Shi Shi stood behind the adjustments and said to call if anything else happened with the noise. Unless you're paying over $20K for a sofa and are willing to wait 5 months for delivery, this sectional from Bo Concept fits the bill. You pay more for stuff from Bo Concept but you get it back in Customer Service. Thanks Shi Shi and Chris! read more

This is a great place to shop for modern and contemporary furniture if Roche Bobois is not quite in your budget but IKEA is not the answer either. The owners (husband and wife team - Soren & Caroline) are super helpful and friendly. They sincerely want their customers to have a good experience both in store and at home. We visited the show room at least five times before settling on a dining table and coffee table. Soren was patient w/ us and didn't pressured us into buying. The tables look great in our apartment and deliver functionality with sleek/modern design. The customer service is good although the follow-up can be spotty (ie. I had to call to ask about the delivery date both times). There are a few sample sales (where the floor models are sold at 20%+ discount) throughout the year so make sure to get on their mailing list. read more

I love this store and their Danish designs. Christopher Stanley helped me find the perfect chair (the Veneto) after I'd been looking elsewhere for months. I'm petite and wanted something that suited my small frame but would also be comfortable for taller folks. The Veneto totally fit the bill. Jeffrey Metilly was super helpful in getting my new place set up. I used their design service. They did a layout of my place with recommendations. I ended up going with most of what they recommended. Once the furniture was in place, Jeffrey came over and brought a bunch of smaller items over to my house. He really made the place look great. I also had a problem with one of the pieces. Jeffrey quickly remedied the issue. If you like modern/mid century furniture, definitely check out BoConcept. My wife and I just bought a cleverly designed sofa-bed from BoConcept with the help of Greg Scott. We love the sofa-bed, however when it was delivered it had a very strong chemical smell. Greg, being a great sales guy, had already emailed me to check on the delivery, and I notified him. After, a prompt email exchange, Greg checked with the factory in Denmark, and they have now ordered us a new sofa-bed! Greg has been tremendously helpful through the whole process. read more

BoConcept helped us turn our blank space apartment into a place where we are excited to have people over. My fiancee and I first started looking for couches after he decided that the futon I'd snagged for a song off of Craiglist wasn't making the cut anymore. It only had a couple of busted springs, I didn't see a problem. We looked at couches at several different stores, we liked the price and design at BoConcept the best. We narrowed in on a couch and a color we thought would work with the forrest green fireplace tile in our living room. We took home the booklet and swatch we were given in the store to see how the color looked in our room. And it was then we realized we had no idea what we were doing. Thankfully, in the booklet, we saw the offer for BoConcept interior designers to come to our home and make a custom design plan. If we purchased anything from the store, the $150 cost of the design consultation could be used toward furniture. Since a couch cost much more than that, we had nothing to lose. What happened next was more fun than an HGTV show, and I do really enjoy those. Carolin and Karl came to our home 9am Sunday morning, pulled up in a BoConcept minicooper right on time, and full of fabulous. They were like Team Squad Awesome Design. They sat with us in our living room, and actively listened to our design aspirations, angst, and doubts. I wanted a living room reminiscent of Downton Abbey. My fiancee wanted spare, clean, modern design. Carolin and Karl then bustled about the place, taking measurements, and conferring. They said they'd have a design presentation ready for us Friday, in their store, after hours. We couldn't wait to see what they would come up with. We weren't disappointed. With our budget and priorities in mind, they pulled together fabrics and furniture that fused our tastes in really clever, unexpected ways. Initially we purchased a couch, dining table, side lamp, chair, and throw pillows. A month later, we went back for the living room rug and a few knickknacks. Carolin even suggested a local painter to re-paint our hallway - that made a world of difference in how our place feels. The couch, chair, and dining table took 2.5 months to arrive, so that was kind of a bummer. But they did come exactly when promised, and were everything we hoped the would be. We purchased a white leather recliner sofa that doesn't look like a recliner and are very happy with it. Michael was very helpful, efficient and courteous. He helped us with the leather samples to pick the right color. The delivery date was flexible and everything went smoothly for delivery to Santa Cruz. The mechanical functions for the reclining work perfectly. We would definitely shop at BoConcept again. read more

I haven't yet purchased anything from BoConcepts but am much more likely to after a remarkable customer service experience today. I am new to the area and am furnishing a new apartment so I have been to a number of furniture stores in the area. Treatment has ranged from being completely ignored to being hounded by sales reps. Robert at BoConcepts greeted me immediately, answered all of my questions thoroughly and made himself accessible for follow ups while giving me space to roam. Additionally the store was well organized and nicely laid out. I left feeling very positive about their furniture and valued as a potential customer. read more

I'll start by saying that I really like the furniture here. Furniture, in general, isn't cheap. But, as far as quality, modern furniture goes, the design is really nice and everything is relatively affordable. I bought a pretty expensive rug from these guys over 2 years ago. It's a cowhide patch quilt rug. It came with a couple of creases in it. I just assumed the creases would unwrinkle over time. 2 years later, the rug still looks the same. It won't lay flat on the ground and you can't uncrease the wrinkles. Unfortunately, I never filed a complaint while it was under warranty. Fast forward to last month... I came into the store to buy a couch. I told them about my problem rug. They said that they would look into it. Just recently, I found out that I have a new couch and replacement rug heading to me this October. They didn't have to replace the rug, but am super stoked they did. I was preparing for a battle, but they stepped up and did the right thing. Really happy!!! read more

The owners were a pleasure to deal with and the delivery/installers were always on time, very professional and did a great job overall. The contemporary look is clean, stylish and timeless. Over priced, poor quality and pretty furniture. We purchased a custom sectional and shelves about a year ago. EVERYTHING is falling apart! The sectional started making squeaking noise after 6 months of use. It squeak even when my 26lb dog jumps on the couch! The shelves no longer close completely. The overall quality is worst then IKEA, IKEA furniture at least last more then a year for 10% of the price. The customer services was exceptional before our purchase, but good luck trying to get a hold of them after. read more

Our house is furnished with gear from all over the modern furniture world. Limn,dwr,calligaris and even ikea. Sometime in September Bo Concept will be added to the list. I've been looking for a modern leather sofa for like forever! Although the mezzo sofa I ordered from Bo was not my absolute favorite, it was perhaps the best compromise. I really covet the DeSade leather sofas that Limn sells but would rather wear that kind $$ on my wrist than on my ass. Bear in mind that this review is written pre-delivery and I cannot speak of the long term quality or the in home performance. But I can tell you about my experience of shopping for the ideal leather couch for me (and my household that includes 2 German shepherds). I have been looking for a comfortable,good looking,modern leather couch for so long that several places I shopped at have since closed down(bellach's,the magazine etc) Didn't matter if it was Roche, Linge, arketectura or Limn the same result materialized : most looked cool,few were comfortable and the ones that I truly did like cost as much as a Patek Philippe 5712. Not to mention would take 6 to 8 months to deliver. On the flip side I found Ikea,eq3,cb2 and there ilk had nothing I would consider sitting or napping on. The notion that Bo concept is somewhere between Limn and ikea is not apt but, not unfounded. Their Mezzo sofas are their most popular and for me their most comfortable. I got an email from them with a 35% off on items ordered with stella leather that saved me good chunk of change there. I had visited Bo sometime before so I was pretty familiar with the product. I worked with Soren before and at time purchase as well. He is very knowledgeable and easy to work with. The showroom is well laid out and highlights the product quite nicely. There are many items there that are well designed and and relatively well priced (compared to there numerous neighborhood competitors) They are accommodating and have offered me something to drink every time I've visited. All in all I'm happy I finally found the right F*&king couch. Now to find the right coffee table and side chair. yikes! read more

OK so this review is for the customer care side of the business. I reviewed Bo Concept many years ago when I bought a much loved office chair from them. After almost 8 years I contacted Bo Concept via email to see if they could replace a part that had become worn. They were very responsive via email and follow up phone calls and figured out that they could get the replacement part or offered to replace the whole item for me at minimal cost. They were very open and transparent throughout the process. It is nice to see that the company stands by its products after many years - and that the employees do whatever it takes to make sure the customer is happy. This store is a refreshing change compared to other comparable stores. Furniture here is pleasing to the eye, comfortable and utilitarian, and best of all there is a wide range of choices (pretty good mix if you ask me). A lot of the furniture is customizable or modular so you end up with something that is very fitting for your need. It was also nice to meet one of the owners who was easy going and nice to talk to. We have ordered furniture twice from BoConcept. We had an great experience during our last order, due to the salesperson who was helping us, Greg Scott. Greg was exceptionally helpful. Not only did Greg help us with some interior design choices, which we were very happy with now that we've received our furniture, he was also extremely organized, efficient, and aware of what was going on with our order. Greg was always easy to reach for any questions we had, and kept us updated while we were waiting for the furniture. While there were some transport and delivery related hiccups, Greg was quick to investigate/resolve the issues and communicate with us. We were very happy with the way he handled this. With longer furniture orders like these, where you are waiting 8-10 weeks for your furniture to arrive, it's very helpful to have someone like Greg as a contact. We were also very happy with the quality and delivery of the furniture. The delivery of the items was careful, and everything arrived in new and pristine form, and well packed. I had a great experience with Robert at BoConcept in SF. I stopped in to get a sense of what I wanted and met Robert who walked me through my options and provided fabric swatches as well as advice on the type of fabric I might choose based on how much wear the furniture would get, but I was months away from starting a remodel so didn't make the purchase at the time. Fast forward 7 months, I was ready to make the purchase, I walked back in the store and Robert greeted me by my name on sight. Long story short - ordered a custom sectional, it arrived on time, the delivery service was great - very careful and neat, and they made sure everything was set up correctly It is now 4 months later, the couch is wearing very well (which is to say, it shows no wear at all where people sit on it most) and I ended up also ordering a large area rug from them which I am very happy with it as well. read more

I've ordered 2 chairs and 2 couches from BoConcept (SOMA branch) middle of last year. It took 3 months and I was not prepared for that long time. There was some issue in delivery as well but since then I didn't have single complaint and service had been really excellent. Cons: -- Be prepared for longer delivery time as lot of things are shipped from overseas. Pros: (For SOMA Showroom) -- Excellent help from designers working in showroom. (Yes they have background in this area and they know, exactly what they are talking about) -- If you don't have your own designer then they spend good amount of time working with you on different combinations of pieces and colors. -- They dont' push at all and present fair opinion. -- Most of the time I found, suggestions out of the box and very appropriate with the structure of the home/condo. -- After 11 months, I had minor issue in one of the chairs. They immediately sent a person who fixed the issue. (with no cost) Pros: (BoConcept) -- Very unique design. -- Really comfortable. -- Price is comparable to Room&Board, CB. read more

A male friend & I went in to browse and were immediately set upon by a hyper saleswoman. She proceeded to follow us around the store, pestering, cajoling, and basically pleading with us to buy stuff. When I tried to rebuff her, she changed tactics and started flirting with my male friend to see if she could talk him into something!(We're not in a relationship, so I didn't care - but she didn't know that. Tacky). They are also cagey about prices. I.e., some pillows were marked "50% Off" but the price tags just had one price listed - not a price, with a red slash, plus a new, lower price. So I asked, "is it priced as marked, or is the discount taken off at the counter?" She said, "taken off at the counter." When my friend proceeded to buy three of them, she charged him the full price, plus some of the pillows weren't 50% off at all, apparently. so, he found out, at the counter, that it would have been $400 for three pillows! (Note that to the reviewer who called these prices "reasonable"). As it was, it was "merely" $235, when in fact, my friend thought that it was supposed to be $120. Big difference! He didn't buy them, and we left, with that feeling you get when you suspect that you just escaped being mugged. A very unpleasant way to finish what had been a leisurely Sunday morning. read more
