Went in recently to get some detangling work done for my 10 y/o daughter. Not only did they accomplish the impossible, they worked tirelessly on it for hours and hours. Sometimes switching in 2 stylists at a time! Karen and Kelly in particular were amazing, highly recommended. They have gained a whole families worth of lifelong customers. Needed a last minute haircut for a business trip and Danielle had an open appointment. She's very meticulous - really took her time to make sure every hair was in place. Took a little longer than I expected but I appreciated her attention to detail and she's a great conversationalist. This is a review for Shelina - stylist & color expert. She is the best - if you need a colorist, she's your gal. Amazing, thinks outside the box, listens to her clients, and gives them a cut & color that have long shelf lives ( this kind of attention to quality is hard to find ). Andrea has helped my hair return to good health, styled my hair for special events, gave my hair-do a much needed lift and took the time to deal with my two cowlicks; one in the front and the other in the back. More importantly, she graciously helped me transition from never coloring my hair to lightly coloring my hair as silver started making an appearance. Andrea also made the time to discuss various hair dryers and curling irons and options for shampoo/conditioner. In the year that I've been going to Bocz Salon, Andrea has diligently worked to improve the condition of my hair and train me on how to look the great every day. I have been here three times now (yes, it is a little hard to find!) and I have seen Meg all three times--she is fantastic! The first time I went I wanted a foil (I had never had one before) and she did exactly what I told her to do; which it turns out is not what I really wanted at all. It looked good, but it wasn't me, and she could tell it didn't fit my personality, too dramatic. Lots of other people at the salon were telling me how good it looked but she said "Let me try something". She toned it down and it was PERFECT! I have never had so many compliments on my hair. The next time I went in was the beginning of summer. She talked to me, asking if I had any specific things I wanted to do or try but this time I was smart and left it up to her. When it was done I thought it was a little light, but she said she did it that light because of my complexion. She said "You must tan pretty easily and I think a lighter shade will go well with your skin tone." Yet again, it was PERFECT! I probably wouldn't have chosen that light on my own, but a couple weeks into our summer and my hair looked so natural with my skin tone, sun streaked like I'd been on the beach in San Diego! Last time I went in I just let her work her magic, oh did I mention she also gave me a great hair cut as well? All three times, exactly what I wanted. The salon has a great atmosphere, uptown but not pretentious. Front desk staff are really nice, even offered to go feed my meter! I highly recommend Bocz and Meg in particular. read more

I came to Seattle with my husband on a business trip. Not having the time to get my haircut before leaving on the trip, I decided to get it cut in Seattle. After reading the reviews on Yelp I wandered into Bocz Salon with no appt. They got me in within minutes and set me up with Karen for a cut. I was skeptical at first, always going to the same salon on the east coast. Karen did an amazing job! She spent so much time with me understanding my needs. It was a great experience! I am a stay at home mom, I was looking for something different, easy to manage and of coarse- hide the greys. Had my hair cut, colored and a Brazillian Blowout by Nanealani. She was awesome. She gave me a nice color for the winter, great layers, that are easy to maintain. The Brazillian Blowout to finish things up- left my hair feeling so soft. I just wash and let air dry. My hair looks and feels soo good. She did an awesome job. I had her do my oldest daughter too. She absolutely loves her hair and so do her friends at school. Can't wait to get my other daughters hair done. Nanealani will definately being seeing more of us. Awesome job girl... You Rock!!!!! read more

I've been deeing my hair cut by a stylest named Nanealani for a year now and been very pleased with the outcome of her work. It's nice to be able to give very little direction and get great results. I've been able to refer many of the ladys in my family to her and they keep telling me that they havn't been this happy about their hair in years. She makes each experience enjoyable and fun. Like many others, I tried out Bocz Salon because of all the positive reviews on Yelp. It definitely lived up to expectations! I visited early on a Saturday morning and my stylist Meg was bright and friendly (despite the early time on a weekend.) I didn't have much in mind but knew I wanted to cut a lot of length off, and she took that and ran with it. When she was finished I was shocked at the change and just kind of stared into the mirror, but I love love love the cut and apparently everyone else is noticing cheekbones I never knew I had. Thank you Meg! I've never had a "regular" stylist but I'll be returning here for sure. read more

I have given myself 3 days to be ok with the highlights I received here. I am not.. I have dark hair... and I received blonde highlights!!! I am 41 years old... I look like I went grey over night!! I have never written a bad review, but I wish I would have read something like this before making my appointment and paying 170 bucks for a foil... if you have DARK HAIR BEWARE of this place. I was told the highlights would be coppery, brown maybe leaning toward red. I have blondish streaks that look grey in my dark hair. I don't know who would ever think this is a great look for someone who is not a spring chicken and had dark hair AND expressed that grey hair management was the primary reason I was starting any coloring treatment! I feel like for the amount of money and time commitment this salon requires they should have done a better job with me... My suggestion to those looking for a colorist... do not take the reviews here as a gospel. go to the salon and watch people as they check out... and see if someone has a hair color/treatment that you find flattering for them. I was sitting in the waiting room for 5 minutes and I saw a lot of blonde streaks on the women waiting for service... I should have taken that as a sign. I will complain in person to for a refund. I will not go here again for color or let them correct my hair. They lost their chance with me....it is that bad. read more

I found Bocz salon about a year ago, after I had chased over 3 gals at Gene Juarez, who all eventually ended up quitting. In recent years, I had heard good things about it, one of which was my bosses' wife. I moved from Seattle to Bellevue a year ago, and was hesitant to make the trek to downtown Seattle on what is usually a busy Friday night. I have fine hair that can be a pain in the ass to get someone to cut properly, so a competent hair dresser is a must. I looked up the various stylists on the website and read about each of their specialties. A few fell into the category that I felt I was in, and I decided to choose Danielle on a gut instinct. I made the appt and immediately knew that this was a personal match.....now to see if I liked what she did with my hair. Not only did she exceed my standards and expectations, she is an awesome person and feels like you could sit and have a cocktail with her. SO nice and so intuitive, but even verbally stated she would never do something on me, that she herself would never wear. She listened to my thoughts, ideas and even fears. She didn't make me feel rushed, like I've felt in Obadiah in Bellevue and also GEM in Kirkland. I went to one other salon in between the first time I saw Danielle and this last time about a month ago, and I decided I didn't care about the commute and the cost was most definitely worth seeing her. I'm from CT and was in Seattle for a conference March 24-30, 2012. Walking past Bocz salon, I was intrigued by its name (I'm Polish, it sounded Polish!). Looked them up online, read great reviews and called for an appt. for a haircut. They got me in the same day (the day before I was scheduled to fly back to CT). The salon is in a beautiful historic building on the second floor overlooking Downtown Seattle, clean, classic yet with a downtown edge. I was greeted by friendly helpful people, and introduced to my stylist Josh. I had read great reviews about Josh online and was happy to have him. Josh has a great personality, very funny, and makes you feel at ease with a perfect combination of stylist/artist. He consulted with me while looking at my hair, taking the time to make me feel comfortable in his hands. He was careful, precise and very particular about asking how my hair behaves, and cut it according to the shape of my head and face. I couldn't have asked for a better stylist and a better haircut! I'm thrilled with the way it's growing out! It's got shape, balance, and, somehow Josh made my fine hair look like I had a lot more of it! Love Bocz salon and Josh, both come highly recommended! I've been here twice so far this year and have been very satisfied with both experiences. The people who answer the phones and make the appointments have been friendly and helpful each time I've talked to them. My first visit here was for a much needed haircut with Juan as my stylist. Before this I hadn't let anyone else touch my hair for almost a year. Mainly because I'm always weary of either walking out with a subpar cut or them take off way more than agreed upon. I have to say, though, that Juan is very personable and does a good job with communicating and making you feel at ease during his haircuts. My second visit was for a balayage color using a Gilt City deal I had purchased. I wish I could remember the name of the girl that I got, but it's slipped my mind for the life of me. I added on a haircut (which doesn't run cheap at around $75), but the end result was definitely worth the money. Both visits I walked out of the salon with that luscious, glamorous hair feeling ;) read more

I was referred to Danny by one of his good friends, so I was prepared for a great experience. Danny is so nice, and really seemed to understand my hair. He followed old lines and cleaned up some layers. Post-cut, however, he tried twisting/scrunching my wet hair, putting it in a hair net, and sticking me under the drier to create some waves. Interesting in theory, not in execution. The hairnet plastered the hair on my crown down flat, dried the product out, and made my roots crunchy. Danny had his assistant do half and rushed the drying process (sat under the drier and he used a diffuser), so I ended up with a body-less crown, slightly waved, very frizzy brushed out look. Danny then decided to blow dry my hair straight-- good call-- but had his assistant start! I'm all for teaching the ropes, but not after an hour+ when he seems like a complete blow dry novice. Danny jumped in to finish the job. My crown was still a bit matted with product from the first try, but the rest ended up feeling great. Just a long, tedious process post-cut. I wish Danny knew his assistant's abilities and took his time with the experiment, if nothing else: With a top tier stylist and 100+ price tag, I expect to pay not just for a cut, but for expertise. Take out all the experimentation and misc. struggles and I'd maybe give 4 or 5 stars. read more

Absolutely love this place! I move every few months for work and have had several bad experiences trying new places to get my hair done, but I thought I would give it one last try while I was living in Seattle. I spent hours debating whether I should just fly home to have my regular girl do my hair or try to sift through countless yelp reviews to find somewhere that wouldn't butcher my mane. Well, I decided on the latter and am so glad I did! I called and asked for someone that does well with color, particularly foils. The receptionist thought Andrea would be a good fit. When I arrived, the staff was very helpful, friendly and courteous. After sitting down in the chair and explaining to Andrea what I wanted done and what she thought would look good, we decided on a game plan and Andrea was off to the color room to mix up some magic. I felt so comfortable with her, that I decided to also let her do a deep conditioning treatment and a cut as well. Although my hair color did not turn out exactly as I had envisioned, it did turn out way better and different than what I thought I would like! And the cut was perhaps the best cut I have ever had, the shape and texture were great. I'm so very glad I trusted my hair to Andrea's hands! Andrea is now my go-to girl and I drive from Eastern WA every few months to have her touch it up. My only problem now is that I don't ever want to have to leave Andrea, a good hairdresser really is hard to find these days! read more

Moya Softli is one of THE best stylists on the west coast, no exaggeration. The salon may be a little pricey,but IMO oh so worth it because when you love your look you don't waste money trying to find other ways to feel better about yourself. I can't tell you how many compliments I get on my hair, constantly, and I never would have been the type. I have thin, bone-straight mouse brown hair. Moya is the only stylist who has ever been able to cut it into a shape with a little personality (that I can actually style myself and that doesn't lapse into a droop 10 days later. In my case, we also do color, another area where she excels.) Moya's certainly a BRILLIANT partner if you want help finding a look that expresses your point of view but also highlights whatever is naturally beautiful about you. She's also a great listening and really knows how to honor your sensiblities and preferences. While her style instincts and artistic talents are legion, what might matter to me almost as much is Moya's lovely and wise personality - I always look forward to our little chats. Whether your approach to hair is light & natural or setting the trend, Moya's your gal. She'll make you LOVE your hair and you'll walk out of the salon feeling fierce and knowing what's beautiful about you. Highly recommended. read more
