I made a hair appointment for a bleach and tone because I wanted to lighten things up. Firstly, I was met with an energy of like it was a bother for me to be there. Second, she told me she couldn't do a bleach or tone, even though she showed me a panel of different blonde hair samples that she said they were all out of..so I'm still unsure what the point was of showing me the samples. So basically I was promised a service that was not even possible. She told me she should have let me know we should have done a consultation, and that she was sorry it was something she forgot. However it was clearly stated to me on the phone they could do my hair no problem. Then I requested a shampoo and blowout since I was already there and was told "no". At that point I felt like my time was disrespected and that the low level of experience and professionalism was careless. When I told her I was going to leave she then offered to shampoo my hair which I at that point was no longer interested in either. I suggested moving forward they be transparent that they can't do blonde hair...as it takes a bleach and tone. That's simply the standard. I am not one to leave negative reviews but in this case it feels necessary. read more

Galina was a real sweetheart. I came in for a trim and some style because I had a holiday party that evening. I was able to get an appointment fairly easily at my choice time, and the conversation was so cheerful and pleasant. My hair looked good after, although maybe not how I would have styled it. My only complaint was the cost. I have short hair (longer than chin, shorter than shoulders), and she took off maybe 1/2 inch, if that. Most of the time was adding some curls, which she suggested and I acquiesced to. I was pretty shocked that such a small change was $65 before tip! I should have found out before how much a trim costs, but this is not what I would comfortably pay for such a short trim. I would love to give a five star review because it was such a pleasant experience, but I'm still feeling a little sticker shock from it. read more

I have been having Christina do my hair at Harper's Hair Studio in Seattle for 20+ years. When she talked about the possibility of leaving the area a number of years ago I was panicked. I commute from Kirkland to her salon in downtown Seattle and it's a reasonable drive. Parking has always been accessible and now the garage I use is right above her salon. She is welcoming and always gives me individual attention. She checks in with me about anything that I might want done differently. She listens, discusses and adapts my requests. My hair is not easy to cut and I have had plenty of bad or "so, so" haircuts in my life. Christina has been doing a consistently outstanding job since my first appointment with her all those years ago. She also colors my hair and does an exceptional job. I prefer a more subtle hair color, but I have seen her more adventurous client's results and they are also very professional and attractive. Gabriel is great! He knows hair and treated mine like it was special. Parking can be a bit of a challenge in this area... but it's worth the hunt! He is very personable and easy to talk to. I've been to him three times for highlights and a trim. He has done a great job every time. Also, pricing is reasonable... not cheap, but not crazy like people who want 1/2 a paycheck for cut and color. It's good quality for a fair price. Emily rocks! Yesterday was my first visit to Harper's and I plan on having many more visits. Emily has fantastic insight as to what looks good and has a great sense of how to get your hair to where you want it, so you don't have any unexpected suprises such as awkward layers or more inches removed than you wanted. She trimmed and layered my hair perfectly and kept the length exactly where I wanted it. She's also friggen adorable and very sweet! I can't wait to go back and have her do my color. I have never EVER, since I was 17, been able to find anyone who could ever cut my hair the way I really wanted. When I moved to Seattle in 2005, I figured I'd be able to find a stylist right off the bat. I mean, hey! It's effing Seattle! It's the big city compared to Olympia! There were going to be more options than a Supercuts or King's Den! Yes, there were more options than what Olympia offered. But for good stylists who do quality cuts and do what you want?? Not so much. For 3 effing years, I tried out a few people in Seattle and no one really meshed well with me. There were some that got pretty close, but those ones disappeared. Then, one day while I was working at the bank, I met Mr. Gabriel Dixon. I'd just lost a stylist to some high-end pricey hoity-toity spa salon. And I wasn't really happy with any of the other stylists I'd tried out at Acme and wasn't sure I wanted to go back. Gabriel informed me that he worked right across the street from where I was working. He was very friendly, funny and he had great hair himself! So, I gave him a shot and went into see him a couple weeks later. I was a little dubious about spending $30 bucks just for a cut, but I figured I might as well since my normal $18 cuts went up to $22. I sat down, told Gabriel what I wanted and how I liked to style it. It was about an hour session - that's quite an extensive visit to a hair salon for me since I was so used to 15-20 minute sessions. But Gabriel is very meticulous in his work. And that is what I love about him! He is someone who wants to make sure you walk out of the salon with a look you're satisfied with. THAT was by far the BEST customer service I had ever received from a hair cut. I did not feel like I was getting pushed out the door to bring in the next customer waiting in line. It has been a year now with Gabriel. And to this day, he continues to give exemplary service! His work is also amazing! I trust Gabriel so much, I've pretty much handed him the reigns. I walk in and instead of telling him what I want to see, I let him go to town and be creative with my head. And EVERY time, I'm extremely satisfied with his work! I also have a lot of fun with him! We laugh, he knows about my life, I know about his dogs, and we've even gone out drinking together! Gabriel is nothing short of amazing! He delivers outstanding service and quality work EVERY SINGLE TIME! And as for the salon, it's such a quiet, small, and cozy place. Christina is just as amazing! The two of them make it a wonderful place to visit! Her photography decorates the walls of the salon making it truly her business. Sure, it looks like another plain-jane salon. But the level of service you get from Christina and Gabriel are what make that place shine! I have found my hair home! I would be absolutely devastated if Gabriel left or if the salon shut down. I will never find quality stylist or salon equal the their caliber. So, if you're looking for a quality cut or color and you want people who take the time to care about you, Harper's is the salon! She is talented and creative so you end up with something unique and fashionable and not the typical "Rachel" hair cut I've been getting since 1999. This is a review for Christina at Harper's Hair Studio who also is the owner. Ever since moving to Seattle 8 years ago, I was always the guy that just got my hair cut at the strip mall places wherever was closest at the time.
