I have been going to Kince for years and here's why: He is fantastic doing exactly what I am asking for, even when I describe it horribly. He is a great listener, and will tailor his cuts and colors to fit what you are looking for. I colored my hair (balayage) for the first time two years ago and was terrified. Kince asked all the right questions (why do you want to color your hair, what look are you going for, how much contrast) and gave me a beautiful cut and color; exactly what I wanted (and I got tons of compliments). Kince KNOWS hair. Texture, color, length; all the ins and outs of why your hair does what it does, Kince knows! When I say that I don't do a lot of maintenance with my hair (like, I don't dry it), Kince will give me a cut and color to fit that my maintenance level, and give me tips on easy styling that I can do post visit. Kince knows how to give a cut to the INDIVIDUAL that will work with their lifestyle. He is the NICEST. Every time I go in, I pick up a magazine but never open it. He is so easy to get along with, and I always leave the salon feeling beautiful, happy, and ready to refer! I have sent several friends to him (all with different personalities and styles) and they have all been really happy with him as their stylist. Kince is fantastic! read more

He is an expert in color, understands my needs and gives flawless consultations with a realistic approach. His results are pure perfection, and that's coming from a Beverly Hills salon aficionado. I live about 1,000 miles away from Seattle, but I stop in to see Kince every time I'm in town. He's more than worth the trip. Kince is very attentive, and makes sure that you are getting exactly what you want out of every cut/color. However, if you're one of those people who lets their stylist take the reins a little, then his creativity and expertise really shines through. I have never walked out with a haircut and color that was less than incredible, and he always manages to exceed my expectations. Not to mention, his cuts and colors look great for a long time - I've gone months between appointments and it still looks just as good as the day I left the salon! I couldn't be more relieved to be walking out of a salon 100% satisfied. Moved to Seattle from LA about 6 months ago where I was going to the same hair artist for about 10 years. I have had issues with my difficult blonde hair in the past and was extremely nervous coming in and leaving with what I have envisioned in my head. Andrea talked to me about my hair history and told me what she thought was best (balayage) but also told me if I was more comfortable with foils (what I've been doing for years) that she'd be happy to do that. After learning more about balayage, we went with that. And I'm so incredibly glad we did. My hair looks amazing and healthy which is important to me. Really would recommend Andrea!! The salon is beautiful and professional. They have changing rooms for you to put on their salon robs and coat check. Although it is a bigger salon, it almost felt like I was the only one there. Bocz is a clean, fresh, hip yet decidedly friendly and cool spot. I love their vibe - did I mention friendly? Beautiful. I went there for color yesterday evening - as a last minute, last ditch, can-I-get-these-grays-covered-before-the-weekend gambit. Amazingly, Kimber, whom I had read incredibly complimentary things about here, was available. What a coup. Since I'd read that Kimber was a star when it came to color AND since she had a professional, friendly, and smart demeanor, I completely put the color decisions in her hands. What an excellent decision that was. Possibly the best one I made all month. I went from too warm and a bit brassy on the color (even borderline trashy, but not in a hot way) to cool and elegant and dream come true for me. There are fewer people who like parting with money *less* than I do but I didn't begrudge a single cent of my $180 treatment with Kimber, it was that superb. Simply the best color of my life. I was visiting Seattle for a few months and desperately needed someone to take care of my hair. Of course, I was afraid to go somewhere I had never been before. Thank the gods for Yelp! Firstly, if you have naturally wavy or curly hair, you MUST go to Tania. Hands-down, no questions asked. She is AMAZING. In all my life she is the ONLY person who has ever taught me how to actually work with my hair -- which products to use to encourage the curl, how to blow dry it properly, and how and where to put finishing touch curls in to make it all look finished. Not only is Tania talented, but she is ADORABLE. OMG. Her hair will make you want to swoon. Clearly she walks her talk. I saw the pics of her on the Bocz website and they don't do her hair justice at all! And she's super cute, fun, and energetic. I promise you will love her. :) Since I was brand new to the salon and didn't know anyone, I wanted the color done by one of their master colorists. And Mark is clearly the shizzle. He was friendly and the consummate professional. He knew EXACTLY which color, highlight, and gloss to use on me so when I was all done and looked in the mirror, I felt totally at peace and at home in my own hair -- for the first time in a long time. Tania and Mark were an amazing team. As soon as Mark was done with my color, Tania came to pick me up and bring me over to her chair. It was seamless. You can't go wrong with either of them. I really like this place. Came here with purple hair and Andrea was the best at doing a dramatic change. The receptionist scheduled a consultation first because my hair is a special case and saw Andrea. She was great. She took in what I wanted to do to my hair (go back to being brown) and which way was the best way to achieve this look. She did a test strand to see if the purple would lift and it did but unfortunately the rest of my hair which was dyed a reddish purple did not so we made an appointment for a balayage, tone and hair cut. Did my hair cut first and she did a great job ($50) and the next day I came in for the balayage and tone ($150 plus $35 for product, I have a lot of hair). She had to go through and bleach out each part of the purple (she did a great job finding all the purple pieces) and pulled the color up a little further to my roots but looks very natural. Then she toned it a caramel color and I love it. Will come back in 6-8 weeks so I can get more color put in and hopefully achieve a uniformed color (unfortunately the reddish purple dyed hair will need to grow out first). read more

He does miracles to my ethnic hair and though his service costs me a small fortune (I can only afford to see him every 3 or 4 months) I come out so happy with my do. I found Bocz through a friend, and now I'm hooked. Reasonable prices, great service, great location. Within my second or third visit, the front desk staff already remembered me. I see Kince, who was recommended by a friend. Every time I come in, before he even touches my hair, he sits down and asks me what I'm thinking. There's no assumption that it'll be the same as the time before. The first time he took a lot of time to learn my hair--he asked about how I washed it, straightened it, cared for it, any parts or cowlicks, what I did for work, etc. We probably spent ten minutes talking about my hair before he started playing with it. He's thorough, he's attentive, and he's precise. And he's also a really nice guy. Easy to talk to, happy to see me, and full of good recommendations. He'll offer up ideas, but never imposes them. I had some pretty long hair and I just felt like chopping it all off and starting fresh! Since I was making such a drastic length change I wanted to make sure it would be done right. So I set off on yelp to see what I could find. Bocz had 129 reviews (now 130!) and practically all 5 stars. "Hmmm, intriguing" I thought and set to make an appointment. I got set up with Kince who went above and beyond my expectations. The impression that I got was that he really cared about my hair, my feelings, and that he would do a great job. I told him I wanted it short, but was a bit hesitant about it too because it's been a while since I'd gone short. Kince made sure I was comfortable as he snipped off my locks and gave me great advice about my hair. Not only that, but he was a great conversationalist which made me feel really comfortable. I've had haircuts where I've sat there silently for an hour staring into the mirror/avoiding eye contact in the mirror with my stylist. I felt like I had a friend that I trusted cutting my hair. Josh White is a lifesaver. I found Bocz after a friend recommended I go to Josh for a color correction. An inexperienced colorist had taken me from brown to blond with frightening results. Josh was so sweet and understanding, spent a very long time repairing the job and was attentive and focused. He made me feel at ease and beautiful again. I will always go back to him! I've gotten haircuts from two of the stylists here and each experience was fantastic! Danielle gave me a beautiful long layered haircut, while Tania gave me the most awesome shoulder length cut. I highly recommend both stylists! They are very talented, friendly, and professional. The salon looks very clean and posh. The front desk staff are always very friendly too. Kince De Vera, Every time I go to Kince, I know, no matter what changes I've been through. Big or small, Kince has been able to cut my hair to reflect my life. From the first time where I told him that I wanted to have something sweet he swooped my bangs to fit my face, lightly layered my hair, and cut it to a beautiful V in the back! The last time I saw him I told him " I just want a dramatic change! Give me a Mohawk for all I care!" but he knew better. When I scheduled my last appointment I was able to call only a few days in advance and get an appointment for the next week. I arrived to my appointment fifteen minutes early and Danielle was able to see me right away. I was planning on making a pretty dramatic change (cutting off about 8 inches of hair) and Danielle was sure to consult with me before my appointment to plan my haircut. This is my first salon experience since I moved to Seattle a month ago. I got the recommendation from a coworker with cute hair to visit Tania. She's amazing and my hair looks amazing! She's the first stylist that's ever told me what hair style and color will & will not look good on me. Everyone else I've been to usually just gives me the blanketed, "Whatever you want" when I ask their opinion. She suggested the technique called balayage (where the color is painted freehand) instead of traditional foils for my highlights and the results are great! I came here after reading all the good reviews on yelp and decided to give it a try. My highlights were growing out, so I needed my roots done. I also wanted to add some layers to my hair and trim the ends a bit. When I called, I explained what I needed, and said that I didn't want to pay more than $200 for everything they were doing. They were able to give me a next-day appointment with Kince, who was very sweet and attentive. Unfortunately, there was a miscommunication, and Kince didn't have enough time to do my highlights, as they had me down for a full color instead. But! Kince gave me a color wash to lighten my natural color, which took away the darkness of my roots! He then cut my hair so that it flips perfectly, as I always have my hair down around my shoulders. He apologized profusely for the miscommunication regarding what I wanted done with my hair, but gave me 15% off my future appointment for highlights (which will be in about a month and a half). Checking out, I was expecting to see a figure closer to the $200 range, but when the cashier rang it up, the total was $110! I could have screamed with pleasure! I was very impressed with the salon, and will definitely return. read more

Honestly, I think Carter Renee would get 5 starts no matter where she worked, but the atmosphere of Bocz Salon is charming, as well. It appears to be a restored building from early last century. But I digress- the real story here is Carter and her talent for making her clients feel at ease while she works her undeniable magic. Carter honestly listens to you, happily looks at any pictures you've brought, and offers her own helpful suggestions. I've never felt more like having my hair done was a partnership between me and my stylist as I do with Carter. Moreover, when I first came to her, my hair was a mess. It was fried from over-bleaching (done by another salon), and the style I wore just wasn't working. Now, my hair is soft and healthy, and my color is phenomenal. I've had my hair short with Carter and loved it and am now growing my hair out for kicks with her total support. The amazing thing is that she's so young; you can really see she has a natural talent for this, and the fact that she so obviously loves what she does is just another arrow in her quiver. Bottom line: If your stylist isn't Carter Renee, you're missing out. Don't get me wrong, Bocz employs only the crème de la crème, but Carter is one-of-a-kind. read more

Tania Karadsheh is the best hair stylist I've ever had. I've been going to her exclusively for probably four years now for cuts and color. I am 44, and, yet, I get often carded after I see her. My hair is long, thick, and wavy/curly. Her balayage and razor techniques are perfect. I typically don't give her any guidance at all. I just tell her what is bothering me about my hair, and she she makes it allllll better. She is truly an artist with a passion for hair, and it shows in the results. I have never gotten more compliments than I have with Tania as my person. She is also good about keeping the cost down by alternating visits for highlights with visits of just base color and only giving me exactly what she thinks is needed without doing more. I cannot recommend Tania highly enough. She is also very fun, and I love my time in her chair. read more

Reflective listening to the client is just as important as talent and Sam has both in spades! My previous stylist of 8+ years opened her new salon too far away and I needed to find someone new. Cue the nerves. I called Bocz after googling "best haircuts in downtown Seattle." They fit me in that day with Sam. Not only had I had the same stylist for so many years, a **guy** had never cut my hair. Cue more nerves. But I was assured Sam was great. Another reviewer referenced the staff as being down-to-earth. Yep! Very much so. Friendly, explain the changing robe/room situation to first-timers, and all-around helpful. The salon itself is bustling, but the chairs are separated out by little cube-like things. It's in a beautiful vintage building on Sixth Avenue. I love it when places are equal parts upscale and down-to-earth. Love. My. Haircut. Sam took an hour-plus to listen, explain, and do a fabulous job. I don't imagine it will take that long for future cuts, but it was obvious he was taking extra time and care to make sure I left happy. Bocz Salon is wonderful and more specifically, Carter Rene is really wonderful! I have been going to Carter for the past four years and she always does a flawless job on my locks. The color of my highlights can be tricky because I always go for a golden blonde tone can easily turn out brassy if not done right, but Carter always listens to what I want and executes flawlessly! In addition to highlights and haircuts she also does a super job with up-dos and blow outs. Carter has also given me many helpful tips to help achieve healthier and fuller hair. I feel the look and health of my hair has improved tenfold thanks to her suggestions and honest input. I am ecstatic to have found this salon, which I discovered after reading numerous other positive Yelp reviews. While it's located in the heart of the Westlake shopping district, this salon feels like a well-kept secret. Tucked in an artsy, second floor loft just steps off sixth avenue, the feeling inside is more capitol hill or belltown than downtown. Hardly a secret to many, however, the salon has been at its current location for around 20 years and many of its repeat customers have been coming to Bocz even longer than that. After just one visit to this salon, it's easy to see why it has so many long-time and loyal clients. The staff is welcoming and friendly, also unexpected in such a swanky neighborhhod. While the prices are definitely commensurate with a high end salon, there is nothing pretentious about the service or the staff. I was able to get a same-day appointment for a cut and partial foil and the scheduler who initially helped me book my appointment was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and up front about pricing, so there were no surprises when it came time to pay for my services. Jale (pronounced juh-LAY) cut my hair. I was instantly at ease with her - she was friendly but focused and conveyed a very reassuring sense of confidence and competence. After my cut, I was introduced to Kimber, who did my color. Kimber was incredible - extremely knowledgeable and thorough, She listened carefully to what I was hoping to achieve, talked about the process and made it clear throughout my appointment that she was in no hurry and had as much time as I needed. She took extra time to get the color just right and after styling it, suggested that I might want to have Jale trim the bangs up just a little more since they didn't dry quite as short as I expected. Two seconds later, Jale was back to adjust the bangs and then Kimber finished styling. I left the salon extremely pleased with my hair and delighted with the entire experience. I usually get my hair cut in Iowa but this place was right across from my hotel at a conference in Seattle. This was my first time getting the barber shop experience and having hot towels and my neck shaved. I opted for the time save option which was very inexpensive and was happy with the cut. I've been going to Kince for my cut/color for several months. I happily recommend him to anyone who will listen. I'm pretty easygoing about my cut and color, and I always take his recommendation on what cut he thinks will work the best for my face and what color will work best with my skin tone. My cut grows out well, which is vital, since I'm not one of those people who can get to the salon right on time for a touch up. He never tries to push too many expensive products, but will always recommend just the right thing for my hair. He doesn't make me feel badly when he finds out I've been using totally the wrong thing, either. Kince always greets me with a smile and makes my appointments with him super enjoyable. I have also been seeing Aldera for waxing. She is hands down, the most proficient aesthetician I have ever seen. My wax appointments are virtually pain free (as pain free as waxing can be, anyway) and she's FAST, she's funny and professional. I will never go to anyone else. read more

I got my haircut yesterday by Danielle,at first, I was feeling just ok about it but now that I am home and I have inspected my hair more. I realized how uneven and choppy it is. I asked for layered and it isn't layered at all.... only the back is, which is weird and there are no front layers. I specifically wanted her because in her bio on bocz's website she said that she excelled at long layered haircuts. On the day of the cut, we consulted and talked about what I wanted my hair to look like and I appreciated that she took the time to do that. I showed her photos of what I wanted; it was a layered haircut with some front fringe, but very blended and not choppy. Like kendall jenner's long hair or chloe mortez's hair. I showed her the photos and specified that I do NOT want choppy and I wanted the layered to be blended. She recommended that I have my fringe at my mouth's length and I agreed. When she cut my hair, my fringe was way below my chin so I said to cut it shorter because it wasn't anywhere near where we discussed. Once she did that, it looks so choppy and blunt, nothing is blended. it looks I cut my own hair and it's literally 50 pieces of my hair on each side that's cut so it doesn't look blended with the rest of my hair at all! it's so choppy not what I was looking for I even showed her photos in the beginning and it's not close to what I wanted. please do NOT go to her for a haircut unless you're getting something simple; like a straight/blunt cut or something like that. I don't know about their coloring and balayage, based on pictures it seems like they do a good job. But if you want a layered cut they are horrible at doing so. read more

$45 for a 45 minute haircut - yes please. I went to Josh first, but found his specialty was female hair (in particular highlights and diva hair). I switched to Tim and love it.
