Came to visit UVA and got a dozen bagels (one of each flavor and doubling on the Cinnamon Raisin and Garlic), Jalapeño Lime cream cheese, and Blueberry cream cheese. The bagels are fresh and the perfect density, while the cream cheese is light and flavorful. The Jalapeño Lime is actually sweet with some spice, but it still tastes good! Will come back if I revisit Charlottesville. read more

Bodo's is the real deal. A true staple for UVA students and locals. I lived on Bodo's while a grad student, and will miss their incredible bagels. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu! if i went to school at u of v (do people even call it that?), i would eat here alllll the time. just a hop skip and a jump from the campus, it is definitely a student hang. super cheap and you can customize just the way you want your tasty, super carbalicious brain food to tide you over. i would try basically everything on the menu. the mustard is a little peppery and strange, and overpowering. also, the pomegranate sparkling water is almost flavorless and definitely not at all sweet, but still refreshing. i've been told it's a charlottesville institution so worth a try! read more

These bagels are amazing. I guess it was my first time eating a NY style "water" bagel, but the outside was crispy and hot, and the inside was chewy and soft. It was like the perfect bagel. You can put whatever you fancy in it, but I think just cream cheese is the way to go. Definitely have to get it fresh from the store. I bought a dozen and took it back home, but I could not recreate that fresh flavor. Very disappointed, but one of my favorite places to eat at UVA. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE. I frickin' love Bodo's Bagels. It is cheap dining at its finest. I didn't think delicious bagels were possible in Virginia (I come from the NYC metro). Bodo's, you've proven me wrong. I feel like these bagels taste like something entirely different than a NYC bagel, but, to be honest, I like these more (heresy! Don't tell anyone at home...). Personal favorites include the whole wheat everything or salt with egg and cheese. Their cream cheeses are good, as are their sandwich meats. I even like their seasoned tofu (add either the olive or red pepper spreads for flavor). Oh, and the potato salad. It isn't made with mayonaise, so it seems like a reasonably salubrious treat. Quite tasty. A bagel, side of potato salad, and a flavored seltzer and you've got lunch for around $5 or so (depending on what you get). Good deal. Note: I love (and miss) Bodo's so much I bought a t-shirt last time I was there that I wear around NJ all the time. read more

Right next to the UVA campus, Bodo's served a nice fresh bagel. Was it the best I've tasted? Naw. It's a bagel, a good one at that, but not much more than that. I'd still eat it for a quick, cheap breakfast in Charlottesville. I appreciated the hard working college workers who gave enthusiastic smiles in the early morning. There's a Starbucks right around the corner from this Bodo's location, if you prefer a different way to get your caffeine. read more

This is definitely the home of the perfect bagel. Their everything-wheat bagel is my favorite, either with just butter or as the base for a sausage and egg sandwich. Lines are generally long, especially on the weekends, but tend to move quickly and the staff is friendly. I have to hit Bodo's at least once a week to get my bagel fix and this will probably be one of the restaurants on the Corner that I'll miss most once I graduate. read more

not living in charlottesville, i get cravings for both the bagels and the bodo's experience. the delicious consistency (in both chewiness and repetitious quality) of bodo's bagels, makes it hard for another bagel shop to beat. plus their expansion into salads and other deliciousness makes bodo's even better. additionally, the bodo's music and its almost magnetic nature (i almost always bump into at least one person that i grew up with whenever i go inside) guarantee to make the experience memorable as well as delicious. read more

Wow, are they fast, friendly, and efficient in dealing with the breakfast rush! Also, they have tons of cream cheese or egg sandwich options (including egg whites and veggie sausage), so you can really customize your breakfast. Prices are quite reasonable considering what you get! The bagels are pretty good, though they could probably have more texture going on--they didn't quite have that delightful chewiness, which is why this spot gets 4 instead of 5 stars. Since I arrived in Charlottesville in 2005, I've been to Bodos close to 100 times. The bagels are good. The coffee is good. And everything is cheap. But best bagel ever as some claim? Not a chance. I love Bodos, don't get me wrong. It's always my first choice for a quick lunch on the corner. Give me egg, ham, avocado, tomato, feta and hot sauce on an everything wheat and I am happy the rest of the day. read more

"These are the best bagels ever!" is the wrong phrase to tell someone from New York. The best ever? Like in the entire bagel universe? That's dangerous wording in and of itself. So spoiler alert: Bodo's is not "the best bagels ever", but it does come very damn close. Not only are these bagels *almost* as good as the ones you get in New York, they're way cheaper to boot. To pregame Foxfield, I got a lox and cream cheese on an everything bagel with tomato and onion (for under $6. yes, under six bucks). The bagel itself is good: nice texture, not too chewy, not too hard. It was, however, a bit salty for my taste, overpowering the other ingredients. My friend's chicken salad bagel, however, tasted much better and definitely made use of the bagel's semi-soft interiors. It's definitely an affordable breakfast option that's tasty and fills you up. The coffee, however, leaves a lot to be desired (but there's a Starbucks down the street). The line moves fast and the service is fine. Great place to get that hangover cure dish about last night's activities. It's hard to beat a New York bagel, but Bodo's gives NYC a well deserved run for it's money. read more

Good bagels for this part of town. I personally prefer my bagels a bit more chewy but understand that this place is more for bagel sandwiches. A friend of mine got the pastrami bagel sandwich and stated the quality of meat was great. I had an everything bagel with regular and vegetable cream cheese. The regular was great. Vegetable was ok. Cheap, fast, and delicious. Bagel toppings are always generous (if you get cream cheese on your bagel, prepare for spillage over the sides and in the center) and prices are very nice. Note that they only serve bagels, no sandwich bread or whatever. They have a few sides like salads and soup, but if you come here, you want to get a bagel. Service is always very fast and nice. Best bagels best price. Cheap meals for college students. Personal fav is the garlic bagel with sausage and herb cream cheese, by far the best cream cheese of their list! Freshly made New York style bagels which you can by the dozen along with their cream cheeses as well which is perfect for meal prep.
