My girlfriend and I dined at Bodrum on the evening of 7/4/2025. She woke up with a.very upset stomach the next day from eating the Bronzino. She had to take active charcoal and Pepto Bismal to calm thr poor condition of her stomach. Besides this low quality fish, we witnessed a cockroach on a mirror very near our table. Whenever a cockroach appears at a restaurant, I never return. I've lived in Manhattan for over 30 years. I've only witnessed a cockroach less than a handful of times in restaurants in Manhattan. Clearly, Bodrum is deficient in their food hygiene and the hygiene of their surroundings. Plus we found the portions to be unsatisfactorily small. For these reasons, we do not recommend patronizing Bodrum. read more

Loved this spot! Ended up getting a last min reservation on a Saturday evening by calling (they didn't have anything on Resy). They have outdoor seating with heated lamps and indoor seating. They had a large variety of Mediterranean and Italian dishes at a very reasonable price. The complimentary bread was amazing! So delicious with the olive oil and dips we got! I enjoyed the stuffed cabbage and the lamb dish we ordered. The stuffed grape leaves were average; I'd skip them next time. My friend loved her brick oven pizza! Is it getting better or are our taste buds getting worse? :) I don't care to answer that question other than to note that ever since the pandemic, we've felt deep gratitude for the places in our neighborhood that continue on despite it all. (Also, we haven't been to EMP or other places of that ilk in several years.) I think Bodrum may have even thrived during the pandemic, doing a brisk business in takeout wood oven fired pizzas and dinners served in its nicely heated, partitioned outdoor dining areas. We are still on the risk averse side and try to eat outdoors as much as possible, given that we have immunocompromised family members and often have our youngest pup in tow. With these constraints in mind, we frankly cannot think of another place in the city that's so close to having it all. I've had serviceable branzino here a number of times in the past, but on a recent visit, my wood oven fired branzino (a filet) was nearly perfect with little fishiness, skin beautifully crisped, a lovely pistachio garnish, and lemon served on the side. The accompanying roasted vegetables (sweet peppers, zucchini, onion) would have been perfect with a touch more salt. Portion sizes were adequate to small for me, but I'm (1) a glutton; (2) scrawny; and (3) old with an ever waning metabolism, so take that how you like. Lamb tagine had clearly not been cooked in the tagine it was served in (which was sparkling clean and devoid of cooked-in stains), but the lamb was perfectly tender, doused in a nuanced, fragrant sauce that was made to be mopped up with good Turkish pide. Well made cabbage rolls stuffed with tender ground lamb were both delicate and hearty. Wood-oven-fired pizzas and eggplant dishes are always a win with our family and friends, especially now that the kiddos no longer consider the pizzas to be too high brow for their tastes. The thin, crispy, chewy crusts are gorgeous, similar to, but not attempting to be Neopolitan in style. The kids like the pepperoni, baked into little cups. It's all a bit oily, but nothing a few napkin dabs can't fix. Shepherd's salad could be boring and, frankly, has been at times in the past. On a recent night, it was enlivened with sumac and included generous amounts of our add-ons, feta and chicken. Strong bloody Marys, inexpensive, well curated wines by the bottle on offer. Staff are both kid and dog friendly. We love this place. read more

Walking up Amsterdam looking for a restaurant we found Bodrum. A great little Turkish Mediterranean restaurant with a great variety. Started with Sauvignon Blanc. Fruity and wonderfully refreshing on this hot spring day. Babaghanoush was beautiful and served with great fire heated bread even the olive oil was great. Then the best appetizer was the B'stila Djej. Wonderfully flavored ground Chen in a crispy fill pastry topped with cinnamon and sugar. And main course of Adana Chicken was wonderful also. A long piece of chicken smothered in a very fresh tomato sauce with Arugula salad on the side. Nice place great service and a wonderful ambiance. I had the manti which are Turkish tortellini made with a beef filling and in a yogurt sauce with mint oil sprinkled over it. It was a delicious dish and the yogurt sauce (without sugar) complimented the manti. I then had the Turkish shish kebab and it was good. The big surprise was the freshly baked Turkish bread. They bake it continuously during the evening. The service was excellent. The staff on duty was not Turkish but the food sure was closest to what I would expect from a Turkish restaurant. read more

Terrific, Turkish Mediterranean menu and fabulous location on the Upper West Side with ample indoor and outdoor seating. Cons: Mid in terms of unique flavors. The best was the Babaghanoush + bread appetizer, which was very, very good. But the main courses were a little on the bland side. I had a reservation for dinner at Bodrum indoors at 6pm on a Thursday night for 3 people. My party arrived on time and we were seated inside right away. Even for a Thursday it was really busy and we wanted to sit indoors so I recommend getting a reservation if you are able. This restaurant is super cute and nice on the inside, it also smells of delicious freshly baked pizza as soon as you walk in and it just opens up your appetite remarkably. The service is very good! We got our orders in pretty quickly and the food also came out fast. They gave us this delicious amazing table bread that had just come out of the oven, truly some of the best table bread I have had. For food we split the braised leek appetizer and for our entrees we got the roasted branzino (x2) and the lamb tagine. Leeks were fantastic! It truly does not sound like much based on the menu description but they were so good and went very well with the bread. Sadly I was too into them to remember to take a picture :( Would 100% recommend getting it though if you want to get your veggie fix in without committing to a salad. The lamb tagine was a good sized portion with plenty of lamb pieces and came with rice which my friends said was very good. I had the branzino dish and it was really light and good. The branzino was very flavorful and served over fennel with some herbs that just gave it a very rich flavor. The branzino skin was not as crispy as I had hoped but still very good. Loved the pistachio relish it came with for some added crunchy texture and nutty flavors. Overall we had a great experience here. The ambiance is really nice, the food was delicious, and service was also great. One day I would like to come back and try some of their pizzas, they looked and smelled delicious!! read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the neighborhood. I probably order take-out from Bodrum at least twice a week. Unfortunately, tonight's dinner was a $41 disaster. The branzino which is usually roasted with fennel and other vegetables was a tiny piece of fish fried to a crisp. Utterly tasteless and greasy, as were the vegetables swimming in oil. Only the rice, bread, and pistachios were their usual good quality. I had to throw out everything else. I realize that I ordered my meal at a busy time, but I would have preferred that the food be properly prepared even if it was delivered late. We have ordered takeout previously (kebabs) and it was very good, but dining in was a great experience! We sat in their outdoor heated area and had a good amount of space and were plenty warm. We ordered the appetizer mediterranean platter, dolma (grapeleaves), pilaki (beans cooked with potatoes in a light tomato sauce) and mucver (zucchini pancakes). The platter was delicious, but not much food for 3 people. It comes with hummus, labneh, eggplant cooked in a tomato base, babaghanoush, one borek and one bastila. We ordered a second and were very full (after the entrees). The pilaki were delicious and very flavorful as was the mucver. The grapeleaves were good too, four come in an order and they are served cold. Also of note, the warm bread they bring out is divine. For entrees we tried the vegetable tagine and fish tagine. The vegetable tagine was very good and had a nice mix of spices in a tomato based sauce. The fish was cooked well, but the dish lacked flavor overall. I think the fish tagine is the only thing we would not order again. Everything else was delicious and we left feeling very full. The service was excellent, they kept our bread basket full and made sure we did wait too long for our appetizers to come out. Our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu and recommended dishes as well as how many to order for our group of 3. I've been craving mediterranean food for a really long time, especially baklava, so I was really excited to come here! We ordered the chicken sis kebab and stuffed cabbage, as well as crispy calamari as appetizer to share, and pistachio baklava as dessert to share. I really loved my chicken sis kebab -- i tho if they it was grilled perfectly and the rice and salad were perfect complements to the overall dish. The pistachio baklava did not disappoint. It came with 3 pieces as well as ice cream on top. The ice cream was a nice surprise because it really balanced out the flavor as baklava is usually really sweet, so I appreciated the addition. The servers were extremely nice and were very attentive to refilling our glasses of water. There is an option to be seated outdoors as well as indoors, but we opted to be seated indoors since it looked like it was going to rain soon. Nevertheless, the ambiance of the indoor seating was nice, as the interior was nicely decorated. Went here with a group of friends as they have some good outdoor seating for large groups! They have some good indoor dining vibe too. Good selection of wine and cocktails. The servers helped us understand the menu and made sure to ask us about any modifications we may want to the meat etc. we ordered the mezze platter to share, it had some samplers from their mezze menu. Hummus and babaganoush were good mezzes. Their lentil soup is soothing for a wintery night. Out of everything we ordered the lamb tagine, lamb chops, vegetable tagine, chicken kababs were very good and flavorful. I certainly enjoyed this Turkish restaurant! For an appetizer I had the manti. They were delicious (and one of the reasons I chose this restaurant). For my main course I had lamb shank with cous-cous. It was also terrific! All was served with Turkish bread - very nice! We picked up food and everything was delicious! I had the manti appetizer, which are small beef dumplings in a garlic yogurt sauce. These are so flavorful and tasty. We also enjoyed the mucver (zucchini patties with feta). The portion has three good sized patties. Very fresh and yummy! The b'stila djej are ground chicken with well balanced spices wrapped in phyllo dough and sprinkled with cinnamon and powdered sugar. An interesting combination. The lamb chops were excellent and three for the prize is a bargain. Since we didn't dine in, I can't speak to the atmosphere, but it is a busy place and the staff we spoke with were friendly. Other things we had: Babaghanoush - it was good, but the standout was really the bread. I was eating pieces of bread alone because it was so nicely salted, crispy, warm, and soft at the same time. Our friends just relocated from Tribeca to UWS. They wanted to try this place. We went on a Monday when wine bottles are half off. Place was packed. We were late for our reservation, but they found us a table outside. A little chilly but a glass of wine took the chill off. Bread and olives served. Good. We ordered grape leaves, their little lamb dumplings, baba ganoush, eggplant moussaka, and the Bodrum pizza with lamb meatballs. All absolutely delicious. We all love Mediterranean food. One of our group is Lebanese. Her family makes delicious food. Yet we agreed. Something about that Turkish spice profile was just unique. The dumplings were the most special surprise and amazing. Our twice weekly neighborhood spot - it is that good! We normally do takeaway but the ambiance is very nice to eat-in with brick and wood interior, low-lights and attentive and personable wait staff. But the food is what it is all about and everything we've tried is fresh, flavorful, sized and served to absolute perfection. The fish dishes (sea bass and branzino) are our favorites and are exceptional. Both are served with grilled vegetables along with rice with the bass. Bread on the side it makes for a healthy and just lovely meal. The salads are also crisp and brimming with flavor. Kebabs are moist and succulent, hummus tangy and tasty - everything is fantastic down the line. Meals you can savor and enjoy and not feel bloated or suffer for later - older readers might relate.
