I'm writing a review according to my experience with Dr. Thomas Kotoske and his office staff. I had a surgery scheduled for 09/27/2023 but change my mind, so I contacted the office Manager or assistant, her name is Sara on 09/07/2023 and she ask me to send an email writing the reason of my cancelation so I did, and at that point I was on time to get the full refund of $11k, but she suggested I see Dr. Kotoske in person, since the only appointment I had was over FaceTime, so I did! My appointment was schedule for 09/12/2023, on that day, she told me my surgery date was moved to 09/25/2023, but I was still doubting having the procedure done, so later that week I contacted her again and told her I wasn't gonna get it done, so she said I needed to wait 2 weeks for them to process a refund. on 10/04/2023 she called me and told me my refund check was ready, so I went to the office to pick it up.... I almost fainted when I saw a check for $5,565.00, only HALF of the amount I paid them! The letter stated I DID NOT cancel on time (When my original cancelation email has a 09/07/2023 date) and it had the date of Surgery of 09/25/2023, not the original date 09/27/2023. I told Sara I wasn't gonna accept the check, that I was due a FULL refund since I cancel on time and it was HER suggestion I see Dr. Kotoske (of couse it was! she knew what she was doing!!! BUYING TIME to keep my money). I told Sara I undestood if there was a charge for the consultation, but the Facetime and in person consultation was a max of 30 minutes, and that $5,565.00 IT WAS A LOT OF MONEY for those 30 minutes Dr. Kotoske "wasted" with my visits. She told me was gonna talk to the office Manager and that it was gonna take another 2 weeks to resolve. On 10/16/2023 I contacted her over the phone to ask about my refund, she said they were still working on it, so I told her I was gonna contact Chanel 3 on your side to help me get my refund and hang up. The next day 10/17/2023 I received a letter from a Lawyer "In Response to demand for full refund" with the following statement.... "You have now attempted to extort my client by reporting him to Channel 3 if he doesn't give you a full refund to wich you are not entitled. Your threat is not well taken. If my client discovers that you have posted any defamatory statements about him, legal action will be taken. A check for $5,565 has been place in the mail. Please direct any further communications to me." So I later received the $5,565 dollars check and since a lawyer will cost me about the same as the amount they kept, my only option is to write this review, hoping it helps someone else. PLEASE read the documents you sign! And if they want to give you a future appointment, PLEASE make sure is within the timely cancelation requirements. Sara will make you feel like she's your best friend at the beginning, but all of that will change as soon as you disagree with them and their shady policies. ALL of the above is TRUE! i started with just a breast reduction and lift and it turned out very well. then Dr. Kotoske and I decided to go in a year later to "shave" down my scars because they were still very prominent and red. after that 2nd surgery i've had so many problems with bruises and rashes and he said i just had to wait 6 months for the healing process to be 100% done. during those last few weeks of that 6th month i tried calling the office to make an appointment because nothing was better and i was doing everything i was supposed to be doing care-wise, but they WOULD NOT schedule me at all and the front desk lady (unfortunately didn't get her name) said it was because i was a "former" patient of his and after 4-6 months youre "not a patient anymore" which is so stupid because if i'm having any problems with a surgery i 100% should be able to follow up with my doctor. it's now been about a year from that surgery and i still have the same problems and when i call they still won't schedule me an appointment to see the doctor and won't even let me talk to Dr Kotoske myself. i'm thinking about going to a different doctor to help fix his mistakes since his office won't let me come in and see him. very upset with staff. read more

I waited over a hour for my appointment. When I finally went back they took pictures right away after asking what I wanted. While I waited for the doctor I looked at a photo book that had old pictures in it. When the doctor finally made it in he shook my hand with a death grip and had his shirt open like he was John Travolta. He was short and did not even apologize for being so late. I received my consult for my tummy tuck and left. The pricing was great because the surgery was done in house but that is it. They are very accommodating and excited to get you in at first and take your money. After the procedure Dr. Kotoske and ALL office staff could care less about your feelings and concerns. Dr. Kotoske has no care for patient's after the surgery has taken place. Horrible bed side manner, seems like he only wants to be in the operating room. I wish I had never gotten my breast augmentation done. I have a huge indent in my chest wall where you can actually feel my ribs through my skin under the insertion. Not to mention how unattractive is this when I'm intimate ?! When I try to make early morning appointments due to my work/child schedule it gets canceled and I'm told I can ONLY make afternoon appointments. If I do get an early morning appointment I sit in the waiting room for over an hour. The only reason I'm given is "he's in surgery. We can't help his schedule." Update: 3 hours after posting my review the doctor himself called me and asked me to take this review down. "I bust my ass for my patients. The fact that you can just post something like this is ridiculous." Even after his unprofessional phone behavior I agreed to meet him to have my issue evaluated. Upon meeting with the physician: he spent a minute or so telling me the issue was normal. Then literally got in my face, belittling me, and demanded that I take my Yelp review down. He then went on to tell me about all his professional achievements and that he cans help the behavior of his office staff. I walked to my car in tears. The physician and his staff could all use a class on compassion and customer service. Sad to say I will not be following up at this office for my 1 year appointment. 11 years ago dr Kotoske did my breast implants. I was very happy with them and they stayed how we wanted them for the entirety of that time frame! I recently went back for a new set of breast implants and I was extremely impressed. They were clear in expectations, timely, and had a covid protocol set up to where everyone was tested before coming into contact. What I appreciated most was the friendliness of the staff and the extra mile each of them went to make me feel comfortable. I've never been more insecure after my breast augmentation. Dr.Kotoske said he was going to make a small incision under my breast and there would be minimal scaring. After 2 years and 2 years of torture applying scar cream, the scar is still there and very noticeable. Dr. Kotoske did not achieve my desired size. Since the saline he put in was small (300CC), my breast does not hide my incision scar. My scars show when I wear a bikini or a bra. So I have to wear a one piece bikini and a bra like corset. And the sad part is.. I was natural a 32B, and I still fit into a 32B... It just looks "fuller" on top now... His staff never offered to give me the silicon inserts to put into my bra to see which CC I wanted. He just asked me what my ultimate bra size I wanted to achieve and being it was my first time... I just said D cups? Thinking that would be HUGE. NOPE.... $5200 later, I walked out with 32B still... I went back a year later and explained my struggles and my heart break but he was still going to charge me an arm and a leg. My sister and best friend got their breast done after me at a different doctor and their breast are beautiful. They had it inserted through the nipple and there is absolutely no scarring. They are extremely happy. I finally was able to pay off my breast augmentation and now I have to save to get another one done just so I can hide my scars... I'm really embarrass and hurt with my entire experience. read more

Most of your interaction here will be with the girls rather than the actual doctor. Nurse Erin is very good but Brittany, Joann and Hanna need retraining or replacing. Anything administrative or any type of surgical prep or follow up with them is terrible. Dr Kotoske is good at what he does and has his own private surgical suite. The waiting room up in the surgical suite has a TV and you'll be there for hours but it doesn't turn on and when you ask the girls for assistance, they don't know. It's a shame that the doctor, who has talent, is relying on girls who don't have two brain cells to rub together. He should know that his office is poorly run due to his employees. read more

After receiving a few consultations with different surgeons my wife went with Dr. Kotoske since two of her friends went to him as well. She was sure this was her best option. She had a couple phone conversation with the doctor to ensure she was making the right choice with a breast lift verses and implant. She was very specific with her concerns and wants. The doctor assured her he could get her what she wanted, and he wouldn't be taking her down the road of a lift if he didn't think the results would be great for her. The day of her surgery she walked in to speak with the nurse about canceling due to her being torn, everyone told her to do the implant based on what she wanted. Dr Kotoske came out and spoke to her and showed her pictures of another case and said I can get you here. He talked her into a lift, I'm assuming because we the fee was 12k and an implant was way less. When I went to pick her up the doctor came outside in the rain to tell me I would lover her results based on my concerns and what my wife and I spoke of her wants and concerns. She wanted less scaring, more fullness, without losing breast size. He assured her with her skin it would look like she had an implant and would have beautiful breasts and the scars would be very minimal. However, this is not the case. She went down in size, no fullness at all, does not look like an implant not even close. Her scares are very much present, on one side her scare is significantly higher, and she cannot wear a bikini without it showing. Her areolae are different sizes since her resized her nipples, we didn't know this until after the follow up that he resized. She has scaring from, the dissolvible stitches coming through the incisions. During her follow ups she expressed her concerns and was told give it 3 months and it wouldn't look like I did anything to cause scares, he told her give it 6 months to see the full size it takes times etc. She went in balling to the nurse because we both were so unhappy with the money we spent and this being a permanent procedure it was nothing that we thought or were told. The Dr said I can just throw an implant in there to give you what you want, well as we discussed at the beginning, she didn't want to go through two surgeries. or pay twice, she wanted it done right the first time. Now that she went to schedule her 6 months follow up, she did ask how much to fix this, and they want another 4-6k on top of the 12k we already paid. She worked so hard to save the 12k and spent so much time looking into surgeons such a waste. I'm so disappointed with how this turned out for her, she cries and is so insecure now. This has really changed her view about her body image. I hope no one has to go through this. Now we are on the search for a fix. read more

I'm not sure why anyone considering a plastic surgeon would look up reviews on Yelp, as there are much better places to go to gauge a surgeon's worth. What you really want to know is that the surgeons you are considering are (1) board certified, (2) accredited with one of the two cosmetic surgery associations, (3) has photographs of previous surgeries that you can look at, (4) that you have a good rapport and can trust him/her and (5) whether they have any complaints filed against them with the medical board and what the outcomes were. That said, I am a patient of Dr. Kotoske and would definitely recommend him to friends or family considering cosmetic surgery. Prior to selecting him as my surgeon, I consulted hundreds of websites for other Valley cosmetic surgeons as well as any friends and family members who previously had the same procedure to come up with a list of 4-6 doctors I wanted to meet with. I also asked my OBGYN if she knew anything about the doctors I was considering and she recommended Dr. Kotoske and another doctor on my list without hesitation. Dr. Kotoske was the last doctor I had a consult with, so I didn't need a lot of education when we met. However, I asked him the same questions I asked the other doctors because I wanted to see if I was comfortable with his responses. He is a top-notch doctor who has received several awards and honors from his peers, including being listed in Phoenix Magazine's Top Docs issue. There IS a reason. He is professional and well-informed and will answer any of your questions, but you do need to ask them. (He's not a mind reader nor does he know how much self-education you've done prior to your appointment.) He specialized in reconstructive surgery, which means he focuses on making cosmetic procedures look as natural as possible. Another Yelper claimed his office is always overbooked and he seems like he is in a hurry. There is some truth to this, but if he will always spend as much time as you need if you speak up about your concerns. You should also know that when you're scheduling appointments with a surgeon, they do tend to run late. Some surgeries take longer than expected and that can make everything else late for the entire day. Similarly, if your surgery is scheduled for a specific time, you are told that the time is fluid. It may change. This is not unique to Dr. Kotoske. It is that way with most cosmetic surgery practices, especially if they allow consultations and checkups on the same days they do surgery. I can't say enough good things about Kotoske and his office staff. The day of my surgery I was extremely nervous and they put me at ease. And since then, they have been nothing but helpful with the many questions I've had. It's been five months and I have gotten nothing but compliments on the work he did. For the money I would definitely go somewhere else. Keep in mind the doctor is actually a D.O. that took classes on plastic surgery. The office is impressive, but in hindsight I realize now it was all smoke & mirrors to give the impression Kotoske is a skilled and impressive plastic surgeon, which he is not, as I have had the experience (and scars) to prove it. I'm in the process of finding another surgeon to revise what Kotoske did. All the surgeons I interview tell me Kotoske should fix what he did for free, which I agree. But there is no way I'm going under the knife again with him. Fool me once, shame on him. Fool me twice, shame on me. Not happening. His surgical center is a walk in closet on the 3rd floor with no recovery area. So he rushes his patients out before they are completely awake from anesthesia, which is super dangerous. He also doesn't use an anesthesiologist. He uses a nurse anesthetist ~ BIG difference. His "medical staff" for follow up appoints are nothing more than bimbo aestheticians that don't know jack about post surgical sutures, etc. My scalp was wide open, about the size of a nickel, and the cute little blonde said "ya, that looks great", and didn't bother to have the Dr look at it. It should have been stitched closed. He left a big chuck of fat in my lower eye bletheroplasty, which I told him about at my 2 week post op appt. He ignored it, and was silent. His office never called me or contacted me in any way after that. Not even for follow up pics. He knew there was a problem with my eye and gaping scars, and he just wanted me to go away. I was warned by a nurse friend who works in the cosmetic surgery industry, and she said he has had too many issues with patients, and not to go to him. I didn't listen because his office was closest to my house and he didn't require me to do an overnight stay ~ another red flag. Beware, and listen to your gut. Don't be swayed by his charm and the fanciful office full of bimbos. Ask for a tour of his walk-in closet (surgical center) upstairs before signing on the dotted line. Ask about his anesthesiology procedures. Ask about the credentials of his office bimbos (post surgical staff). For every good review he has, I guarantee there are equally as many people who have had bad experiences because this guy is all about self-promotion. read more

At first the front desk staff seemed a bit unorganized and I was getting worried. When I had my consultation with Dr. kotoske he was knowledgeable and gave me the confidence I needed to proceed with surgery. As soon as my surgery time came, Dr. kotoske's surgery staff (different from front desk, nurses anesthesiologists etc) made me feel so comfortable and were so understanding of my nerves. They explained everything and I didn't go into surgery without all my questions being answered. Dr. Kotoske gave me realistic expectations, even allowed me to FaceTime my husband in the surgery room before surgery so he could know all the info too. The operation at Body by Kotoske is a complete joke. From start to finish it has been a horrible experience and I do not see one shred of how anyone could leave a positive review at this center. Surgery was scheduled for a Monday, and because the employees here were not doing their job and did not get the correct paperwork from all sources needed surgery was rescheduled for Tuesday at 7 am. The doctor was over 2 hours late for surgery with not an explanation or apologies. The initial post op appointment resulted in a large layer of skin being ripped off from the dressings, an extra pain and added stress that was unneeded due to carelessness. The week postoperative appointment was also a nightmare. Appointment scheduled for 9 am and again over 2 hours with no explanation other than the doctor is still in surgery. I would never recommend anyone waste their money here. For the amount of money spent, it is not worth it to deal with this level of unprofessionalism. Find a good doctor that values your time as well as a good surgery experience. read more

I had a surgery about four months ago. The staff there is wonderful. It is very easy to talk to everyone, even half naked. I do recommend making your appointment on a day off when you have time though. They are always super busy and you may get in fast or wait awhile. At first I was upset with my waiting time, but then I was the patient behind closed doors, and my frustrations went away. I now know the time he spends with others, he also spends with me. I'm writing this review after referring Dr. Kotoske to a friend and getting feedback he actually had bad reviews. I had a breast augmentation done in late 2013 by Dr. Kotoske. What people need to realize when they have plastic surgery is that we are ALL individuals. Our bodies react differently then others. We take the risk of scarring when we have plastic surgery. A lot of it also has to do with after care. If we aren't by the book on the after care of the investment we made to have plastic surgery, it's not fair to blame the doctor. I chose Dr. Kotoske because I was afraid of scarring. I saw some amazing after photos and was incredibly impressed with the minimal scarring I saw on his patients. Well, my genes have keloids in them... my mom gets them, my aunt gets them, my grandmother gets them... I got them. I knew it was possible and it still happened. I could have taken care of them better too. Guess what? Not Dr. Kotoske's fault! Here I am 5.5 years later and I'm incredibly thrilled with my breasts. They are shaped perfectly and he made them the perfect size. They have settled nicely and although yes I still have scarring under my breast, you can't see them unless I lift my breasts up and point them out! I've been told I have the best looking breasts, they look completely natural and no one knows unless I tell them. l can't believe all the negative reviews. I waited for over a decade to get a breast augmentation from any surgeon because I was nervous that it might not turn out as good as my natural breast already are. I was looking for perfect symmetry and I noticed that many didn't have that as I looked through their gallery, I went through Dr Kotaskes gallery and I noticed that he improved every breast pictured on his side so I consulted with Dr Kotaskes after meeting with many other people and after meeting with Dr Kotaskes I felt very comfortable with allowing him to go through with my breast augmentation. He seemed very professional he has a great personality, his staff is wonderful his facility is clean and he seemed very thorough... in April 2018 I woke up from my surgery and he informed me that he gave me a little more CC than I Had asked for (525cc) and he gave me 590cc and I'm very glad that he did because not only am I very happy with my breast, I am happier than I ever thought I would be. He did such a perfect job and symmetry is exactly what I got... I am a dancer and I see breast all day and I honestly believe I have a masterpiece on my chest, he didn't ruin already nice that he only made them better. Dr. Kotoske did my breast augmentation in 2003, he did an amazing job. My breasts still look amazing, the scars are barely noticeable when I look for them and no one ever believes me when I say I have implants. I do not believe Dr. Kotoske is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Most physicians are board certified in something but that doesn't mean they are all qualified to perform plastic surgery. ASPS members are schooled in cosmetic and reconstructive procedures. Let me just preface this with the fact that I don't have a lot of experience dealing with Plastic Surgeons so I don't have a large base for comparison but my experience was an extremely positive one. I was a bit intimidated when I walked in the office because the staff are all very attractive and "done up" and the clientele in the waiting room were what you'd expect to see in a Plastic Surgeon's office. As soon as I was taken to the consultation room (at exactly the schedule time of my appointment) I was immediately put at ease. All of the women that I spoke to were warm and genuine despite their appearance. Dr. Kotoske was the same. He was very positive, nice and reassuring. I had a consultation for a similar procedure 10 years ago and I left in tears because the doctor made me feel so terrible. I almost cried this time because Dr. Kotoske made me feel so great! I thought for sure that the cost was going to be astronomical but it was very reasonable and in line with what I felt comfortable paying.
