After watching a couple of videos regarding Light Adjustable Lens, I opted to have this done. I opted to do monovision so that I would never have to wear glasses again. I would hopefully see both far and near. I had the surgeries done about a month apart at his surgical clinic. The surgical clinic's staff creates a very clean and comfortable environment and I felt at ease. After the surgeries and after "locking in" the final adjustment, I now have 20/15 vision in my dominant eye, and I can read the smallest print on Dr. Kootman's card. It is amazing. I don't remember too much of the procedure, after they put me under that is. I do remember they asked if I use marijuana because it took them more than expected to get me under.... I guess using ADHD stimulants may have a similar effect, well at least that is what I hope because I am a medicated neurodivergent person. I prefer the Glendale location because it is easier to get to, and who does not want to drive less with the rising gas prices? The staff is friendly and helpful. In April of 2025 at my annual checkup I had a red spot on my ankle. Dr Stevens biopsied it and…read moresaid it was squamous carcinoma in situ. 6 weeks later he used cryosurgical destruction with liquid nitrogen. 7 months later a 2nd area next to 1st was diagnosed the same as first and treated. Less than 4 weeks after treatment a 3rd area next to the 2nd appeared red and puffy. Had 3rd biopsy in area with same result. However, I was told Dr. Stevens only works 2 days per week in the summer and could not see me in 6 weeks that I needed to wait longer. I am diabetic and have a new aortic valve and could not wait to resolve this continuing problem. (Also after the first biopsy I had an infection and had trouble getting the antibiotic needed. The assistant failed to send a RX to the pharmacy. The assistants are not well trained.) I made a special trip to the office to sign paperwork so I could get a copy of my records so I could change doctors. After signing the paperwork, they said they do not have the records in the office but off-site. I then tried for 23 days to get a copy of my records. They said they sent them but the doctor never received them. Called the office manager and left a message for her to call me - please. No response whatsoever. I did not have my records for my new doctor appt. but after 23 days Mayo finally got copies so I could return for another Mayo dermatology appt. After being billed $424 for each of my first two visits, which took a maximum of 10 minutes, I learned from the new dermtologist that all I needed was Efudex cream to handle my growths. Talk about a waste of money, trips and less pain. This is totally unacceptable.
