I went to Body Essentials Spa the other day because my normal esthetician that does waxing was on vacation. Body Essentials... Why didn't I go to you earlier? I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of service I received at Body Essentials. The front desk staff was very friendly and professional. I was immediately greeted and felt welcomed. The front lobby is very relaxing and you are instantly whisked away to a happy place. Cecily did my eyebrow wax and really did a thorough quality job. I was happy because my eyebrows were perfectly shaped. She really took her time and made me relaxed. After the waxing, we were discussing my need for a facial. She was able to do a facial right after the waxing. She explained the complete process to me and had a great touch. She used quality products and left me looking radiant. The basic facial ($60) included cleansing, steam, extractions and a very nice massage. Cecily was very friendly and walked me to the front after the facial. I called ahead to make sure they accept the Spa Week gift card (I said the gift card name twice to make sure) and they said yes they do. I drive 20 minutes and show them the gift card to triple check before I get a message and they said, "Oh no we don't take that gift card we thought you meant our gift card." That's why I said "Spa week gift card" twice on the phone! Then I showed them they are listed as a location that accepts them and they told me I should call the website. I said, "ME? EYELASH EXTENSIONS - I compared the price to other places, and they had the best deal. ~$70 If I remember correctly. The lady was nice. We bonded a bit, because we both speak Chinese. :) It was my first time getting this done, so I was a bit nervous. I came with my full eyemakeup done. Such a noob move. Haha. I didn't end up liking them though. They were uncomfortable. After talking about it with my friends who get the service done elsewhere, I think we established that the quality of hairs they use is not AS good as other places, but you definitely get what you pay for. SWEDISH MASSAGE - ~$50. Good deal, but once again, you get what you pay for. The masseuse was very nice, but she was young and kinda small, so I barely felt any pressure. I probably wouldn't recommend this service. MYSTIC TANNING - Great deal! Only $21.99 + Initial startup fee for unlimited monthly Mystic. Other places charge about $12 per session, so I found this to be a steal! I was a member here for a couple years, and I only had to wait once or twice for the Mystic booth. It's always wiped squeaky clean. TIP: Ask for an extra large towel to bring in. They usually only provide the small towels to wipe off with, and I don't feel like it's enough. read more

This review is for the masseuse Romana and the owner John. Both were polite, punctual, and communicative. Romana asked consent before tucking the cloth into my underwear, which most people don't do. As a yoga teacher, I also practice this form of respect. Romana made sure to ask me if the music volume was ok and if I wanted to turn on the bed warmer. She also offered a choice between cold and room temperature water, which was a nice touch since I don't drink cold water (it's not good for one's health). The massage was the right pressure and I liked Romana's technique. My favorite part is she was attentive to when I wanted to talk and when I wanted to be silent. Too many masseuses (and professionals in general) don't read their client's body language and ruin the experience by talking too much. Not every client wants to have a conversation. Romana engaged when I spoke, but didn't overdo it. Perfect balance of friendly and professional. She also didn't comment on my curves, which I appreciated, since I often get unnecessary compliments that tire me out. John was polite, but not overly friendly in the way a lot of middle-aged and older men are. You ladies know what I mean. As a young woman, it's exhausting to have to be on my guard all the time. I felt comfortable and not threatened. I felt safe, which is exactly what one needs when they're being so vulnerable (naked at an unknown place). I hope this will be the case every time, for clients of all backgrounds. I was happy that I didn't get asked any questions about my ethnicity, as that is unfortunately common at many places I go to. Clients show up to relax, not to be interrogated. Good on them for remaining professional. One suggestion would be to have a larger massage table, one where the client can rest their arms above their head if they'd like. I'm only 5'1'' and felt a bit cramped. I'd also love a digital receipt option so I don't have to waste ink and paper, since I'm into sustainability and global warming is a very real threat. I paid the $65 introductory rate and gave Romana a 20% tip. For those of you new to massages, the industry standard is a 20% tip. Masseuses often have to share profits with the owner, so be mindful of this, especially if the person did a good job. In addition to your session time, they have to prep and clean up. I liked the massage so much that I booked one for my partner. I hope he will enjoy it. I hope they will continue to treat all their clients well, even after the initial first impression. Cecily did a great job, she is very attentive and intuitive and has a great energy about her. She realizes how helpful colonics are and it shows in her work. I am so glad I tried this place today. Thankfully, I was able to get a same day appointment. I have had back/shoulder pain and a headache for over three days. I booked a 30 min neck, shoulder, back massage. I told Romana what was bothering me, and she paid special attention to that area. The amount of pressure was just right. The room was dim with spa music and the most comfortable massage table I have lied on. She even offered to turn the table heater on if I wanted it. I felt better when I left, but came home and rested for about an hour and woke up feeling even better. Such a huge relief. I appreciate that she gave me some tips on how to deal with my shoulder pain if I feel it coming on again too. The owner was also very nice. Prices are very reasonable, and I wasn't pressured to sign up for a membership. I will be back for a full body massage in the near future. read more

I love Body Essentials and have been coming here for a couple years but Mayra is great! Think its the best massage Ive had! I want to give them 5 stars but as much as I love this place the owners should really consider switching out all of their air fresheners and using ones that dont disrupt hormones and give people migraines, they are toxic and they mess me up every time Im there. BUYER BEWARE!!! I set up an appointment earlier this afternoon for a massage. My son had purchased the G/C last year from B E as a gift . Before heading out the door I thought i'd look @ the yelp reviews since I had not been there in awhile. . I came across a very helpful review that stated that Body Essentials refused to honor their gift certificate as it had an expiration date stamped on it by B E - *. California Law states that gift certificates do not expire: http://www.dca.ca.gov/publications/legal_guides/s-11.shtml I called Body Essentials , and sure enough was told that they would not honor my gift certificate as well. The least they could have done was offered a discounted service or complimentary add on to help make up for their lousy business practices . *** I informed them that I will start taking my business elsewhere as well as putting out the word to family and friends to do the same. They took my son's money and didn't honor the agreement. VERY Poor customer service / Loyalty !!! *** It is no wonder there has been so many changes to the business (therapists/policy) over the years. Why all the negative reviews? This place is in Chino Hills, so don't expect Burke Williams... Yes, not fancy schmancy, spacious, or OoOoolala... but you just have to go in there preparing yourself to relax and be calm. The room I went into was very basic, it had a mini heater to warm the room as well as an electric blanket under the sheets on the table. It got a bit hot after a while, so I had to ask the therapist to turn it down. I got a shoulder, back, neck massage from Synnamon (pronounced cinnamon) and she was AMAZING. She's very conscientious of comfort and always asks if you want more or less pressure. She did this thing on my back where she lifted my whole upperbody and allowed my back to slowly roll down onto the table. It felt like I was lifted by clouds. No lie. It's probably the best massage I've had in a long long while. =) read more

Our son gave us gift certificates for a Swedish massage. The place is well decorated, peaceful and the staff was very pleasant. My massage therapist was great. I really enjoyed it. Very relaxing. Just what I needed. However, the bad news: when offered up our gift certificates as payment, the receptionist said that the gift cards had expired and she would not accept them. I explained that it is not legal to have gift certificates expire in California. The receptionist explained that they make their own rules. A bad end to an otherwise great experience. read more

I've been coming here for about 6 months or so now and it's been ok. Today however I feel I got ripped off. I went in for a 2 hour massage and I belong to this plan they have where you pay a monthly fee and get a massage a month. On top of that you get discounts on additional services. Well I had a massage from previous month I hadn't used so I chose a 2 hour today to make up for it. Showed up for in the room massage therapist asked if I would like shoulder, back , and neck massage I said yes. Well little to my knowing I finish the massage and they up charge me $20 dollars for this. Am I safe to say this doesn't sound right? What is a massage if it isn't shoulders back and neck? I give them 2 stars purely because the massage therapist have a good massage. This is for a massage. There are many other services available. The bed was cold. The therapist's hands were cold. The massage oil was cold. The therapist did not speak much at all. I wish she asked me if I had any particular aches or pains today that needed to be addressed. When the massage was over she provided next day instructions, thanked me, and left. I never saw her again and had to find my way out. BUT... it was a very good massage. It was thorough and methodical, almost medicinal. If she had asked me about specific trouble areas (I had a migraine) I believe this would have been really great. Eventually bed/hands/oil warmed up as well. About the pricing: The base price is for a soft pressure total body massage. There are up-charges for focusing on head/neck/shoulders/back and for increasing pressures (soft to "combo" to deep tissue). The pricing structure could be simplified, I think. My migraine is better, and I didn't have to drive very far, so overall still a win. read more

So you step in the front door, check in with the receptionist, confirm the services that you made your appointment for, and then they direct you to a relaxation room through the hall and on the left. Inside this room is a water dispenser, some seats with worn out cushions, and a table with magazines. It is much too dark to read in there so you just sit around until your therapist comes to retrieve you. So I was guided into a room with purple walls. I was asked to undress to my comfort level. I put my clothes and belongings into a little ottoman. I got the Swedish massage with hot stones as an extra. I enjoyed the hot stones as it was the best part about the massage, but felt that the use of hot stones actually takes away from your total massage time (just because by nature, they only retain heat for so long and your therapist has to constantly go back and forth). Hopefully management takes this into consideration and adds a time extension for those that opt for a hot stone massage (15 minutes would be reasonable). You start off laying on your back while you get a shoulder and neck massage. Then they flip you over and work on each extremity and the back. At the end, I was asked if I wanted a hot towel (usually to wipe off all the oil). This towel was rough! Obviously the towel gets cold fast and leaves you feeling extra cold (NOT a good thing right after a massage). Enya was playing for the duration of my massage at a rather loud volume. I read from other reviews that the walls were thin, so that could be why the music is a little louder. I actually went with a friend who got the same services as I did. After comparing experiences, it seems that this establishment does not offer consistent services. They may just let the therapist decide how they want to do a Swedish massage. We both agreed that the therapists could have been a little more conscientious of comfort and pressure level. Granted a Swedish massage is by definition a mild-moderate pressure massage, we felt this place was lacking. I did not use their shower. They only have one, so I didn't bother to check it out. If you want to shower afterwards, I guess you have to let your therapist know. They should give you a robe and a caddy for your belongings. I felt the robe and it's rough too. There are package deals listed on their brochures, but not online. We spent a lot of time searching for a day spa to try and that is how we ended up here. We like to think that every place is a worth a try since everyone's experience is different. The first experience is so important and determines whether you will be a returning customer or not. This review is for waxing only. Minus one star for expensiveness. Minus another for double dipping. Minus another for the bruises, burns, and pain I sustained upon waxing. I've been through many bikini waxes, but never before have I been bruised! The waxer was very thorough and sweet, so I feel a little bad posting this. However, the walls are so thin in here, that I was instructed to be quiet to be sure the other people had a good experience. Hello? Am I not a customer too? And it is not as if I were yelling either. Anyways, yes she got all the hairs but she also removed my skin down to the basal layer, and gave me a bruise the size of a silver dollar and burns in several places. Not fun. read more

After seeing an episode on television where a character used an infrared sauna, I decided to try for myself and with this facility being my second try using one. I tried one facility and loved it but that facility was quite a distance from where I was at that current moment. I decided to yelp and came across this facility "Body Essentials Day Spa". Being in this area I feel my facilities are very limited so figured why not give this one a shot. I made an appointment and the receptionist was very accommodating with times. Showed up to location and it was a very clean/relaxing environment. Its a small facility but they seem to do a variety of services at fairly low cost. Only down side to this place is they do not have any amenities but I assume that's what keeps their rates at cost. If I am in this area again and need to do an infrared sauna I would definitely comes back here. read more

Some good things about the spa, which I do agree with another reviewer: 5 minute wait, easy parking, they give you a cup of water when you leave. IF I COULD GIVE THEM 0 stars, I WOULD! Here are the reasons... 1. I paid for a 90 minute massage, and the massage was cut short by 10 minutes. 2. The therapist was not knowledgeable, but limited in her technique. I was very disappointed with my "massage." 3. When the therapist went to get the hot towels, she took an inordinate amount of time to get them. (Other spas that I have been to, the towels are already in a heater in the room or the therapist takes a moment to get them. I was thinking, did she forget about me?) Either way, I was very disappointed with my experience. I e-mailed the owner, so he could address these issues so other clients will not have the same experience. He wasn't helpful at all. I got a spafinder gift card for Christmas last year and found this place while looking for spas that take the gift card. I've come here twice now in the past year and both times were for a deep tissue massage. Out of the few spas in the same price range I've been to in Chino Hills and Corona, this is my favorite. The first time I came, I purchased a package that included 30 minutes in the infrared sauna, a 60 minute swedish massage (which I upgraded to a deep tissue), and a 25 minute foot scrub and massage. It was my first time using an infrared sauna and while it was different, I'm not sure I really like saunas of any type. Leandra did a great job with my deep tissue massage and the foot scrub. I was so comfortable and relaxed that I fell asleep during the foot scrub. My second time here, Gail did my deep tissue massage and she was AMAZING! Gail really worked on my trouble spots instead of going through a routine of spending equal time on everything like a lot of other massage therapists do. When I come back I'll definitely ask for Gail again! It doesn't seem like it from the outside but the inside of the spa is relaxing and comfortable. It isn't very fancy but you can't really expect it to be for how good the prices are. If you want something more upscale, go pay more somewhere else! read more

I liked this place. I went here for a package deal for a facial and a massage for a only $110. I got the European facial first. Joyce was really gentle and helpful. My skin was glowing and felt so much softer afterwards. I don't have much acne..so I can't speak for those that day, but I was happy with the results. I'd definitely come back to her. I'm pregnant so I got a prenatal massage. I forgot the therapists name, but her touch was VERY light. I dont know if it was because I was pregnant but it felt more like a body rub. My friend came with me also and she said that her massage was incredible! If I go again, I might try a different therapist. Other than that, the place was nice and the people were helpful. I've been getting lash extensions from many different places in the past. Was generally happy with the results. I decided to try eyelash extension here because of the good price compared to other places. $70 for individual lashes is probably the best price in town. 2 Stars for the price and the lady being very nice. The problem is... while the lady was working on my lashes, it was PAINFUL! When she tried to put some extensions on my lashes, many many of my lashes got plucked accidentally from.. I don't know why... maybe pulling too hard? When the lashes are done, they were uncomfortable. I think she used too much glue. You actually see big blobs of glue stuck on your skin at the base of your lashes. It was so itchy for the whole 3 weeks. The lashes were also pointed in all kinds of different directions. Didn't look too nice. When I went back for a refill, it was even worse! She removed the old extensions by just WIPING THE EYE REALLY HARD WITH A WET KLEENEX! Of course it HURT! When I asked her "wouldn't that cause my natural lashes to get removed together?," she said no. Umm..... yeah right. The lady was nice, but if you want nice extension, go somewhere else. read more

I've been meaning to write a review for some time now...and time has escaped me. Though I have not met the owner, if I did I'd tell him he's a lucky guy because of one of his massage therapists...Ana, is amazing!! I know she's very well liked and clients often request her, but she is one in a million. She is great at what she does, takes pride in her work, and seems to really pull her weight there. That isn't easy to find these days...as I work in a similar industry and good massage therapists/estheticians are hard to come by. I've seen my fair share of front desk staff come and go.. All very nice, but the latest--Jackie--she was super sweet and I liked her instantly when I met her recently. She seems like a good fit. I have been a client there now for several years (my husband as well- but I've gone much more often)...and I really do go there due to Ana and how much she's helped me since meeting her last year! This by far is a 5 star review because of her...she's awesome. read more
