Located in Marina District in San Francisco, I took the Hot 60 class. It's upstairs from a laundry place. Not sure what the other classes are like but this was taught by Rick, like an ashtanga style class for 60 minutes and a few of the hardest moves removed. Still a tough class and most poses and done twice. The temperature of the room was 108F, widely attended with around 24 students. 40% of them left around 15 minutes before the class ended. Yes, it's hot and it feels good. Yes you feel like you're going to die. But you'll feel so alive afterwards. Rick is a great teacher and provider clearly and timely guidance. A plus is the lush garden view in the window. If I come to SF, this is a must. I didn't bring yoga mat due to traveling, I recommend to bring a towel to sweat on. Recently restarted my fitness journey (and started yoga/pilates). Tiktok had done it for me where I see all the girlies go to hot pilates- so guess what I did... I looked up hot pilates and body temp seems to be one of the very VERY few places to offer hot mat pilates in SF. I booked my first class with Patty and ever since I've been locked in. Patty's flow is smooth and challenging. She offers modifications and compliments when we most need it. The studio is small and there is only 1 class happening at a time. They have changing rooms and they also have 1 bathroom but no showers so be ready to baby wipe your self if you have work afterwards or go home to shower because you will be hot and sweaty after. (I hope this review does not make it challenging for me to book Patty's classes ah!! Patty if you'r reading this, I am shy and would like to hear more hip hop songs lol) read more

Absolutely love this studio and its staff! I mostly did BodyRok before, but wanted to switch things up and started coming here in August 2025 and I'm so glad I did. Lauren, Patty, and Olivia are incredible instructors with amazing energy who truly push you to work hard. The best yoga studio in SF! The instructors are fantastic. Unlike some studios that advertise hot yoga, this one gets REALLY hot. You will be sure to sweat out any extra water weight and feel detoxed after. I can't stress this enough - don't forget water (they sell water and have a refill station if needed)! Their Hot Power Yoga class is an incredible workout and is enough to keep you in good shape even if this is the only gym you go to. I'm also a regular at Barry's and Soul Cycle and would say this is just as good. I appreciate that there's good female-to-male ratio since this is not always common with yoga studios (I'm looking at you, CorePower). My only complaint is I wish they had more Yin and Hatha style classes that fit a 9-5 schedule. On Sundays they have a "Better than Foam Rolling" class that I'd recommend to any athlete. One of these classes taught me so many techniques to restore muscles throughout the body. You'll have to bring your own mat and yoga towel which is pretty standard nowadays, however, It'd be nice not having to lug equipment around. The classes fit a lot of people in one room, and it feels a bit like you're on top of each other with limited personal space. But again, from my experience this is how it is at most city yoga studios. read more

I took my first hot yoga class at body temp yoga! It opened the world of hot yoga for me. These classes are super challenging but rewarding. I feel like a brand new person every time. This studio has multiple changing stalls with curtains - a lot more privacy than most studios that only have male/ female locker rooms. There is meter parking right outside and free parking in the residential area a couple blocks away. It's sometimes difficult finding a spot so make sure you come early or else you might get locked out! If there's only one employee (the instructor) working, he/ she will lock the door to keep everyone's belongings safe. This studio doesn't have showers. I also wish they would disinfect the floors between every class. It gets super wet and sweaty in there. I have noticed that some instructors mop more frequently than others, so it all really depends. read more

Back in the day when Body Temp Yoga was still Global Yoga, I took my very first bikram class with Chad. I was so hungover! All I can say is, alcohol + 98 degree heat = just don't do it. I managed to walk out of that class feeling "renewed" (aka: dehydrated) but glad I didn't pass out and returned a few more times that week. Chad has gained more followers since then and retained the loyalists from Global and eventually owned and opened Body Temp. I'm so happy he did! The remodel looked 1000x better and thank God they got rid of those carpets. (YES. Carpets!) The studio now is more open, the classes more varied (pilates, candelight class, etc), merchandise is modern and exciting. But the real bonus to this yoga studio, aside from the awesome instructors, is that your passes are good to use at the Renew Movement studio across the street. This is a very unique opportunity since not a lot of yoga studios in SF have classes that offer to restore and repair your body. Think about it: you work out at the gym, you do your power yoga tricks and headstands, you go hard at Barry's bootcamp, but do you have a place where you can be kind to your body before you put it all through those stressors? Professional athletes, people recovering from surgeries, pre/post partum moms, and even folks who don't think they need a "stretching" class will be surprised to find out the benefits of slowing down and paying attention to what your body needs. I love the renew studio! and I'm thankful for it when I needed it during pregnancy last year. I haven't been in for awhile, but remember fondly the kind people who welcome me every time I'm ready to practice again. Truly, a one of a kind studio with wonderful people. read more

This review is overdue. Having gone to yoga studios throughout the Bay Area, BodyTemp truly stands out as exceptional. The owner Chadd is absolutely wonderful - extremely caring and knowledgeable and has created a lovely sense of community. I've been to studios where the instructors and classes are very strict and unaccommodating to the unique situations of it's clients. BodyTemp is phenomenal in this respect - the instructors embrace a philosophy and lead classes that are incredibly inclusive and offer something for EVERYONE. Great studio - I've taken a variety of classes here: from Bikram, to Power, to Roll & Release, to Yin, to Pilates, and now Foundation Training. Each class and instructor has their own vibe and if you have the time/ability to try out a few I would recommend doing so. I personally am not a huge fan of Bikram and try to avoid weekend classes (and the power classes immediately after work) due to the crowds. This studio is super popular --not just with the Marina set -- and some classes get a little too crowded. We're talking 3 inches between mats, crowded. To the woman who was upset about the doors being locked - I actually am grateful to hear that they lock the doors once the class starts and nobody is out front. There are issues in the neighborhood with break-ins and thefts. Kudos to Body Temp on keeping class participant's items safe! As an avid runner I would say my two favorite classes are Lucas' Power Yoga sessions, and... anything taught by Chadd (at the smaller studio across from the hot studio). A close third would be the inferno pilates classes. Unfortunately the Inferno class is not offered at the most convenient times (mid-afternoon on weekdays). For any class at the upstairs studio - bring a towel, bring water, and prepare to sweat. I've lately been cursed with a bout of running injuries and have found Chadd's approachability, willingness to offer suggestions for possible stretches/core strengthening exercises, and Foundation Training to be instrumental in getting me back up and running. Great studio! One of my biggest concerns with Bikram studios is the smell and cleanliness. I really appreciate this place because it is clean, friendly, and affordable! Although it's sometimes crowded, they make room for everybody! I like all the instructors and they have a lot of classes offered every day! As a long time teacher here, I feel happy to be part of this community, which feels like family, and this includes students, owners, and fellow teachers. ***This review is for the Restorative class only*** SUCH a lovely surprise. I am not a bikram-sweaty-yogi. I am a chill, Restorative and Iyengar yogi and I love my practices and see no need to explore more. I wanted to get back into Restorative after a serious ortho injury, and also wanted to try a new space, versus the place I used to commit to. Low and behold, Body Temp. I really enjoy Chas (who subbed my first time and has been back) and think he brings such a wonderful energy to the room and practice. His voice is also soothing and the music he chooses to play is perfect (that's an issue I had with another class I went to, the music was distracting, but not with Chas). New-to-BTs beware: the room temp is not like other Restorative classes - it is warm, very warm, like a Honolulu evening. Like, I was the idiot in the long sleeve shirt who figured the text on the website was an overstatement. It wasn't. It's above room temp. Wear a tank top! Find me in one next time around. read more

I highly recommend this studio for those who want to practice hot yoga and want a variety of classes. What really keeps me coming back are the people and the staff. Chadd (the owner) is very understanding and accommodating. Everyone is polite here and you feel a sense of community at this studio. I love how they offer a variety of classes. I can opt for the traditional 90-minute Bikram or even do a hot power yoga class. The sculpt classes can be pretty challenging in the heat. The instructors are encouraging and try to memorize names. They want to make sure students feel comfortable in their practice and go as far as their body allows. It's also nice that they play music, unlike Bikram studios. The studio is clean, but I wish that they had showers. It would be nice to wash off after a sweaty yoga session. I also wish that their power classes would start later in the evening. I was lucky enough to stumble upon this studio through Fitmob (www.fitmob.com). I signed up for the Power 75 class with Christie. The class is meant for all levels! The room temperature is set at 95 degrees for this class, according to their website. I liked it cuz it really got me sweating, but it wasn't stressing me out on the level that a Bikram Hot Yoga class' temperature would (Body Temp's hot yoga classes are set at 101 degrees.) I felt amazing after this class. The room fills up so try to go early to snag a good spot. I'm typically really cheap and like to save my money, but honestly, this studio has me thinking of buying a class pass or membership! I have a gym membership which offers classes already, but the yoga classes are not up to this par. Highly recommended! read more

This is my all-time favorite studio in SF for hot yoga with weights. I've also done CorePower Yoga, Ritual, Yoga Tree, etc but this is the best workout I've gotten by far. My favorite Hot Sculpt instructors are Lysee and Mairin, they teach most weekends and are really helpful, patient, and kind--and also give you a super cardio-intense sculpting workout. The classes are always packed on the weekend, so come early if you have a spot preference (near the heaters, at the back, etc). You can rent mats, towels, and buy beverages here. No showers, but bathrooms and changing areas available. The Hot Sculpt workouts usually include good stretching at the end: -I use 6lb "heavy" weights and 4lb "light" weights -there's usually a 2min cardio burst (burpees, skaters, mountain climbers, etc) -we use blocks for ab workouts and glutes Definitely try it out! They have a great $30 for 30 days unlimited package for new-comers! read more

Calling this place YOGA is an absolute disrespect to the art, practice and history of yoga and frankly a HUGE false advertisement. As a yoga instructor and avid yogi of nearly 10 years I can tell you without a doubt that what I just did was not yoga but a new age workout class with some stolen yoga moves. That being said his class is a great workout for sure and a sweaty one at that. Burpees, pushups, bicep curls, jumping jacks, mountain climbers, squats, lunges and with weights in hand gives you a damn good workout not to mention missy Elliot blaring in the background but you cannot throw in a couple chatarunga's, down dogs and warriors and market this class as a hot yoga class, it's more then yoga and should be clearly advertised as such. Don't get me wrong, I love a good a workout, and I'm even down for some pulses and deep squats thrown into my yoga sequence but this was 90% fitness and 10% yoga. Lastly, it's obvious the cleaning situation needs help. The weights get out back into the bin immediately after class which means they do not get cleaned in between sessions and by the amount of body sweat I know was on mine I'm thoroughly grossed out. I have been practicing at this studio for 3 years. I've been growing with the studio. The knowledge I inherited from them will stay with me wherever I go. No business or individual can satisfy all request. Here are what I really like about this studio. Every single member of the management team contributes to the community in their unique ways. Chadd- is the most studious in term of training sustainable and healthy body. He has an anatomical skeleton in the small studio to help students understand how their own body works. He's always on the top of professional training and researches. He can be stressed out sometimes due to certain operational difficulties, but I know, this is all because he cares, and he wants to make the community better. I value it. Rikk- there is no single time I see him in the studio without doing something cleaning or tidying up: empty trash cans, cleaning mirrors, sweeping the floor, organizing mats or bathrooms. (Trust me, I go there almost every day;-) He makes me feel guilty by making a mass, splashing sweat on the mirror, or throwing paper towel into "just-emptied trash can"; but it warms my heart every time to see him maintaining the studio. He makes me feel like going back to home (except no one is cleaning my house as thorough as he does, LOL ) Heather- oh, how can a person be as sweet, as caring as she can be! She is so positive all the time. I admire her wisdom of turning conflicts into peace and compliments. I don't make to her classes as often as I'd like to. Whenever I can, I'm absorbing all her love and compassionate cues; I never want her class to end ALL the teachers here are absolutely wonderful and worth to try (kudos to the management team!). The biggest value for me is that they all sincerely care about the students; not just repeating the mantra. They taught me not to be ashamed of my imperfect poses. Because of my existing condition of an injured shoulder, I constantly seek advises from Chadd. I also take Lucas and Margarate's class to gain more understanding about MY body. Lucas studied anatomy. He teaches yoga pose by anatomical focus. He has the ability to explain the involvement of each pose; Margarate has a skill of understanding how muscle connects and works. Her loving, compassionate and humor makes me feel so easy to take advantage of her time and asking for help (sorry Margarate ); Judy is another technical teacher who offers clear cues and emphasizes on the correct poses. A bonus to those non-heat-ninjas, her pilate class is unheated; needless worry, you WILL sweat. I take Bikram style classes for stretch and recovering, frankly, I need it more than other classes. Sometimes, I take classes to learn from teachers who offer more cues (Heather, Margarate, Lucas...); other times, I let teachers guide me to find balance and inner peace (Ruth, Nicola, Rikk...). If you need a fast-past, energetic workout, take Lysee's. Plus, her playlists will blast through your entire workout; get ready to party after or distress from the work. Quite often, after a session, I'd wonder why I don't take his/her class more...Mairin, Rikk, Chadd, and Chrysanthe are only a few to mention. I connect with each teacher in my own way. In my opinion, the biggest value I learned from all teachers here is: not to be dogmatic with any styles, schools, nor methods; learn & love your body but not copy "the beautiful poses". Update: Since writing this review, the owner, Chadd, has reached out to my mom and me with a sincere apology for making us feel uncomfortable that day. He wrote us a kind and thoughtful email, offering us a refund (which I appreciated but declined) for the workshop and explained his intentions that day. I feel confident that he will work harder than ever to preserve the integrity of a safe space for his students now. my mom and I came here for a workshop that the owner of the studio, Chadd was assisting in. The workshop, facility, and equipment were great, but during the workshop my mom saw Chadd quietly taking pictures of us in vulnerable positions; which appeared to be zoomed in on an inappropriate area of her body. When my mom respectfully confronted Chadd he said he was talking pictures of the teacher and asked us if we wanted him to delete the pictures, which he apparently did. Regardless of if he was innocently taking pictures or not, were both extremely uncomfortable for the remainder of the workshop and could only think of our experience there in a negative way after that. I truly didn't want to write this review but felt it was necessary to protect or keep people aware and to prevent this situation from happening again. read more

This is a very honest review. There are many yoga studios in the city, and I have been to many other studios in other cities such as LA, Seattle, and NY. Body Temp Yoga is one of the very few who truly work with their clients and put them as their priority. First and foremost, they have one of the best instructors, very understanding and experienced, letting us do what's best for our own body and not needing to follow what the "standard of a yoga practice", which, to be honest, you know your own body best, do what is best for you, not for others. Secondly, the studio is very friendly, unflattering (very positive aspect as many can be intimidating and not too connecting), you have all you need for a good sweaty session. Thirdly, their pricing, I mean, we are in SF, one of the most expensive cities in the world, we pay higher premium for everything, but Body Temp sets their pricing to accommodate everyone. The list can go on and on, but at the end of the day, a good yoga practice with amazing instructor is what we aim for, and this is the place, I don't know any other places in the city that's comparable. read more

Great class, pretty simple studio. They don't provide many amenities - no showers and no towels. The practice was good and I got in a good sweat. I just prefer to take my hot yoga classes in dimmer lighting. This place was extremely bright and the sun was shining right into the classroom and right into my eyes during the session. read more

I've been coming here on and off since I moved to SF 6 years ago and it's my favorite studio I've ever been to. The studio is always clean and DOESN'T smell like a lot of hot yoga studios. BUT the best part is the instructors. They are serious about yoga, but without taking themselves too seriously. Because they're not strictly a bikram studio there's flexibility for self expression and it feels welcoming and accessible to all levels. Margaret Rose is the ONLY instructor who can get me out of bed for a 6 am class. She brings so much positivity and energy to the room. It's the best way to start out a day. I also love, love, love their (heated) candle light classes and (unheated) foundation training. read more

Both Body Temp Yoga and Renew Movement are incredible. The prices are reasonable, the instructors are great (more on that in a sec), the clientele are friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming. I have loved all of the instructors I have had but have the most love for Chadd. He is an owner as well as an instructor who is incredibly knowledgable about the human body. He takes the time to explain poses (even using a skeleton to display things) and answers everyone's questions. His classes are a blast, too and it's rare that many people aren't laughing. I also love Summer for Stretch, Roll and Release and both Connie and Lysee are awesome for hot yoga sculpt. All of the instructors are great but those are the ones I know best. I recommend this studio to everyone I know. You can't beat the prices or the genuine people. It's a true gem and I always look forward to going. read more

I am so glad I found this studio. As a practitioner for over 10 years but still a relatively young adult, it has been a constant battle to find a studio that fits my needs and my wallet as an SF native. It is so rare to find a studio that provides such a breadth of classes-- From intense power to forest-like fusion, bikram-esque to one of the best restorative classes I have ever taken-- this is a phenomenal studio for newbies and long time yogis. Chad, one of the owners is absolutely wonderful and has an impressive background in yoga and in physiological behavior connected through movement and you can see his passion for bettering the body mind and spirit through knowledge, breath and a good 'ol pair of yoga tune up balls. I am grateful for this studio, where I can practice everyday (if I wanted and had the time) and it won't break the bank. I can't imagine how tricky it is to maintain a financially healthy and dynamic studio while having to tend to the needs of a growing consumer base that is unfamiliar with basic yoga expectations (no shoes, no phone.and tardiness is repugnant (save an exception here or there) while also making the studio welcoming and accessible to everyone. No one is perfect, no studio is perfect, but the constant effort and thought put in to making this a safe space for anyone to explore their body and mind puts Body Temp ahead of the curve. I highly suggest checking out the Head to Toe rolling class in their body studio across the street, it has been a real game changer in my practice. read more

I've been practicing for almost four years. First, the instructors are quite good, but the studio itself is grossly substandard. The Marina and Cow Hollow are full of beautiful and inspiring studios -- this isn't one. The owners badly need to spend some of their funds on dramatically improving the heating, floor, restroom, locker areas, and ventilation system. It smells like a sweat sock because the studio has no real ventilation. From the start, one class ended right as the next was about to start. They barely had time to mop the floors, and the floors didn't seem thoroughly cleaned. The rental mats hang on the walls, and are briefly sprayed with a solvent before being rehung again for the next class. That too seemed unsanitary. The class was packed, actually it was over-crowded. They had to chase those who hadn't registered online out of the class after they were already settled on their mats. They turned away at least 12 people who obviously planned to practice that day. Most studios have marked floors to limit the number of slots and keep a close eye on how many have signed up for a class. This class was over-capacity and had yogis within one inch of each other. The place seems generally disorganized. The last time we went there, the instructor didn't arrive and the told us to wait and listen to music for 15 minutes while they called the teacher. If you're looking for yoga in the Marina or Cow Hollow, Baptiste is wonderful, Yoga Flow Union is an amazing experience and there are numerous others which combine a beautiful studio with a great class. Until Body Temp updates its facility, I'm not wasting my time with that business. read more

What a waste of time and energy signing up for the class, hunting for parking for over 15min, and class pass points. Not quite sure how this studio got such high ratings. They really pack everyone in the space giving no room to move. There were literally 3-4 rows of mats, each about 3 inches apart from one another...I literally walked into class thinking the space was already packed and 5 min later they somehow manage to squeeze like 6 more students in - it was disgusting (esp for a 90-minute long hot yoga class)!!! I would not recommend this studio to anyone. My experience showed that Body Temp allows for their studio to go well above what I would consider acceptable capacity for practice. I just felt extremely uncomfortable and claustrophobic. I definitely got the vibe that having sardine-packed classes here was normal, because the regulars didn't seem phased/surprised by the lack of space between each person... I've been to multiple yoga studios in the city and never been to a studio where they crammed so many people into one room! It was truly unbelievable. read more

I always find out the hard way that the first 3 times are the worst for running and for hot yoga. Recently, I decided to rejoin Body Temp after a 2-year hiatus from yoga, and I was basically back to square one. I never really went frequently enough years ago to enjoy myself, but I vowed that this time would be different. Within a month, I'd taken 7 classes of basic hot yoga (bikram sequence) and the fusion (vinyasa moves between bikram sequence), and a handful of yin yoga (amazing for a deep stretch) classes. I'm thrilled to say I'm actually finally seeing progress and can feel my body changing. I'm nowhere near those super flexible, bendy people, but at least I can do one posture that I wasn't able to before, and I'm super close to being able to do another. The classes are much more packed now, especially with Class Pass, but I still enjoy every minute of it. Every single instructor I've had has been awesome, and they never push you to do anything you're definitely not comfortable doing, nor do they judge you if you decide to lie down and take a breather. I wish they had a bit more time between classes (there's usually only 15 minutes) so the people finishing up can take more time, and those of us who want to go early to absorb the heat can do so. Can't believe yoga is my new addiction, but then again, I never thought I'd be married. read more
